You companies SMP administator does normally control what you have access to. They probably just have not granted you access to the patches section. It is correct that only up to SP7 is currently listed. Although the documentation for SP8 is available, we are still just a few days away from the full release of the support package itself. And yes, if you can download the patches, you can apply the support package to the sneak preview system. I have my NSP sneak preview system updated to SP7 currently.

Couple of months ago I took two courses at SAP on upgrade to BI 7.0, there was a 2 day course, DBW70E covering Enterprise Data Warehousing and a 3 day course, DBW70R, on Reporting, Query & Analysis.
These are delta courses, covering what has changed / added.

Is MDM 5.5 officially released?

MDM 5.5 is in unresticted shipment since December 2005. Please have a look therefore also under http://service.sap.com/solutions.
Detailed technical information is also provided in the SAP Service Marketplace under the alias /instguidesNW04. Go to Planning -> SAP MDM.
From an architectural point of view MDM offers of course integration with nw2004s, e.g. portal iViews, XI-connectivity.

Currency Translation key not appearing in dropdown for selection

Hi BI Gurus,
We are using BI 7.0 SP 08 and SAPGUI 6.40 patch level 19. Let me explain our scenario.
We are using SEM-BPS for Planning. Data is loaded to BW InfoCubes and then uploaded to summerized Infocube.
We are also loading data from flatfiles into other set of custom Infocubes similar to IM Cubes.
Planning is done in Transactional infocube and there is multiprovider on top of Transactional Cube, Summerized standard Cube and summerized custom infocube (for flatfile) for reporting.
We are pushig back the final plans to R/3 system and currency conversion is automatic. There is no problem here.
We are loading planing data and actuals from flat files to our IM custom Infocubes. The data is coming in different currencies and we are converting and updating in the cubes in fixed currency USD. Once plans are finalized,we want to give some kind of tool to the users to see their appropriation requests and the plan value in local currency. We are thinking to create some BEX queries for this purpose. Users will Select their requests and currency and the query will display their requests in local currency.
RRC1 tcode does not work in BI 7.0. There is an equivalent Tcode RSCUR to create the Currency Translation Key. I created a translation key. Now I am trying to use this key into BEX, using GUI for 3.X and BI 7.0. This key is not appearing in the dropdown for the currency translation key selection. So there is no way I can use this key.
I went through a number of postings in this forum and still looking for the right one. Is something I am missing? or Is some bug in BI 7.0.
I know it was working in BW 3.5. Can you guys share your experience? Any help is appreciated.

SPNego Not Working

We wanted to have desktop single sign on by using SPNEgo and we have configured everything as said in SAP Help document and we could not achieve single sign on. Not sure where we are going wrong.
When we run the Diagtool, we are getting the error "Cannot login user" and " Error sending krb5 token".
Need your inputs and suggestions and corrections in this. Below are the details.

I did a compare of your configuration with mine.
My ktpass commands are same as yours, but I did not use the mapuser option in the first one. There is no dash in front of it too.
Ex :
ktpass -princ host/[email protected] -pass password -out c:\keytab_p1d +DesOnly /crypto DES-CBC-MD5 /ptype KRB5_NT_PRINCIPAL
ktpass -princ HTTP/[email protected] -pass password -out c:\keytab_p1d -in c:\keytab_p1d mapUser kerb_p1d +DesOnly /crypto DES-CBC-MD5 /ptype KRB5_NT_PRINCIPAL
In my Krb5.conf, I put the ip of the admin_server and kdc
instead of pc name, but it should be valid.
To verify that your datasource changes are good, check in the portal useradmin if the new attribute krb5principalname shows up in the "customized information" tab.
You got an error at
com.sap.spnego.jgss.name
It should be :
com.sap.spnego.jgss.name = HTTP/[email protected]
Also, you did not give your other login modules config, like krb5loginmodule and mappingmodule.
Please note that all the config is case sensitive.

Register Button not active in CCMS Agent Configuration

Hello,
I'm trying to register the SAPCCMSR agent via visual administrator and my Register button is not enabled. Has anyone faced this problem.
I have created CSMREG user, created and downloaded CSMCONF file and placed the file in appropriate directory.
When I tried to register the the "Register" button is disabled. How can I make it enabled.

Web Dynpro for ABAP API Documentation

Hi,
Having worked on WDJ development, I am used to look up Java Doc like the following:

Is there something similiar in Web Dynpro for ABAP world? I am using the document WD ABAP NW2004s SPS8 as a reference. It does list methods of the popular interfaces and classes. It is very helpful but lacks the details on hierachies and parameters.
Also, is there a complete class diagram for the interfaces and classes used in Web Dynpro for ABAP?

Fixed columns in ALV Grid

Hi,
I have around 15 columns that needs to be displayed in a ALV Grid. (Web Dynpro Application). I am struck up with the following questions..
1. Is it possible to attach scrollbars to the ALV grid? If so, how do i do it? If not what is the alternate i have?
2. I would like to make the first 5 columns to be fixed during scrolling. If possible, how to do it?
Is there any sample application or paper on the advanced usage of alv grid, which i could refer? I had gone through the basic tutorials of alv..

I would be a little cautious about using the SPS8 version of the WDA documenation. A lot has changed with Web Dypnro ABAP throughout the support packages and this information in this document is defintely outdated. Personally I would always try and return to the online version (help.sap.com) so that you get the current version.

Bw upgrade - Authorization concept

Hi,
We have just completed the BW3.5 upgrade to BI7.3.
I'm trying to work out the authorization concept in our system again.
I've created one simple query on a multiprovider with only 1 characteristic and 1 KF.
-Authorization object S_RS_MPRO for this multiprovider given.
-User has one role which has the basic 0TCAACTVT , 0TCAIPROV,0TCAVALID
-Basic BW end user authorization for RS Class is available.(S_RS_COMP,S_RS_COMP1,S_RS_FOLD,S_RS_HIER,S_RS_ICUBE
S_RS_IOBJ,S_RS_ISET,S_RS_ODSO)
Now when i run the query, i have 'No authorization'.
Display authorization check shows authorization check failed for S_RS_AUTH with object 0BI_ALL.
From my understanding 0BI_ALL should be given to user who is allowed to access all queries.
Appreciate advice from anyone whos familiar on this. Is it safe to give 0BI_ALL or there is some other object which i am not assigning?

With NW2004s, a new concept was introduced to check analysis authorizations. You can activate this using Transaction RSCUSTV23 or the IMG entry "Analysis authorizations: Select concept".
To do this, select the "Current procedure with analysis authorizations"

Using the new analysis authorizations, the check of the MultiProvider authorization is not carried out any longer.
If you cannot use the new analysis authorizations, assign corresponding

The settings of Transaction RSCUSTV16 listed above are obsolete as of
Release NW2004s and are not analyzed any longer. Instead, the
MultiProvider authorization is always checked when you execute queries
using the usual authorization concept.

NW2004 SP21 - Does someone known about any Release Notes available ?

I'm studying the installation of SP21 on a SAP NW2004 Portal.
However as in previous upgrades of SPs, I couldn't find what this SP21 present or enhance of some functionality.
This is important to me, as is the Documentation Guides to the Upgrade Guide.
I think the SP Guide is the same since SP15.
Could anyone be so kind to indicate me where can I find some information about this new SP21 and what is it suppose to fix/benefits the installations already operating ?

NW04
NW04 is a 'Java version' which means we can develop applications using Java and export them to portal.
WEB Applications server (AS) supports Java APIs and can be integrated with NW Developer Studio developed by SAP. Studio supports application development in java, testing/debugging.
Third party JVM is added to NW04 to run support java functionality.
NW04S
SAP NW2004s is the mySAP Business Suite edition of SAP NW 2004.it is a minor release that delivers on specific needs of the mySAP and xApps solutions delivered by SAP in 2005. The "s" stands for "mySAP Business Suite Edition".
As in NW04, third part JVM is used to support Java stack.

NW04s is a ABAP version. Here you can develop ABAP reports and transactions and export them to portal. There you can create iViews using them.
Netweaver 04S, includes both the ABAP and Java stacks.
The Sneak preview for NW04s is only for the ABAP stack, and the Sneak Preview NW04 SP15 is only the java stack.
If you are using the sneak preview for ABAP, you can develop WDA applications and BSP applications; they run directly in the engine, not in a portal. But they can be embedded in an iView in some portal.
You don't have to have a portal to run your application. If you are using the java side, you can develop WDJ applications and JSP applications. Same applies here, they run on the java engine, not in a portal, but can be embedded into an iView which runs on the portal. But you don't need a portal for your application to run.
The portal is just a front end UI; the apps themselves run on the underlying engine, whether its ABAP or JAVA.

Is there a way to get Web Dynpro ABAP available in a ECC 5 - NW2004 env?

We will start developing an offline Adobe interactive form with email functionality for ECC 5 on very short terms. We have to decide asap what client/server configuration we will use for this new functionality. We will also develop an online interactive form and an offline form with upload/download functionality for ECC 5. We will have to setup a client/server configuration that supports all 3 scenario's.
The main reason we would like to have NW2004S available for ECC 5 is because we would like to develop the forms in Web Dynpro ABAP instead of Java. Guided Procedures is a "nice to have" too, but not really important at this moment.
At this moment we think we have 3 options:
1. Investigate if we can make an Adobe solution in WDA for ECC 5 with our current setup
2. Upgrade ECC 5 - NW 2004 -> NW 2004S to get WDA functionality available
3. Install ADS for NW 2004 to be able to create Adobe solutions in ECC 5, then we will have to develop in WDJ
1. We have the following configuration up and running: NW2004S - CRM 5 and ADS installed: both Java and ABAP stack work properly. We are wondering if we could develop an Adobe interactive form in Web Dynpro ABAP in CRM 5 using BAPI's to retrieve the data from ECC 5 and put it on the form for display or update purposes. Also we have questions about the email functionality: do forms have to be send by email via a mailserver from ECC 5 via CRM 5 and back or can this be done directly from and to ECC 5 or is it not possible at all? Also we don't know if we can develop an online interactive form for ECC 5 via CRM 5. The current setup is not a real option for us right now as we see far too many uncertainties. Does somebody can give us some answers on the possibilities we are looking for?
2. My assumption is that upgrading ECC5 to ECC6 can be compared with upgrading 46C to ECC5. If my assumption is correct, this would mean an upgrade project with a 6 months leadtime within our company. If my assumption is wrong, please let me know. This upgrade will happen some day, but it has not been planned for 2007. So unfortunately, for us this is not an option at the moment because we cannot wait that long. I was hoping an upgrade of NW2004 -> NW2004s was not that time consuming but I guess this can be compared with a SAP upgrade project like 46C -> ECC 5.
3. Installing Adobe Document Services for NW2004 is not our preferred solution but we think it is the safest/easiest solution at this moment to get started with Adobe interactive forms for ECC 5 on short terms. We will have to develop in Web Dynpro for Java, so be it.
WDA is not a must but if we can find a client/server setup which gives us the possibility to build in WDA for ECC 5 functionality, that would be great. That's why I dropped the question on SDN. I want to be sure we choose the best option possible at this moment for us.

Yesterday I got new information through SDN which sounds very interesting:
There are technical repository integration points between ECC and the underlying SAP NetWeaver release. To get Web Dynpro for ABAP, you could install a stand-alone SAP NetWeaver 2004s system (without ERP) side-by-side.
Somebody else wrote: we set up a 3-system landscape of NW04s and have configured single sign on and trusted RFC's so that users can hit the webdynpro pages via the portal, and those systems make the necessary queries to the backend systems via RFC.
Does somebody know if this stand-alone system could be a proper solution for our situation? Does somebody foresee any problems related to Adobe LiveCycleDesigner or ADS?

i am upgrading my DEV clone System from NW 2004 to NW2004s, everything went very well but now my SAP system "disp+work" killed and sap system not starting... so in between SAPUP process cannot ping rfc to my Shedow system !
