  • VMPlayer 3.1.5: Failed to compile module vmmon

    Hi,
yesterday I updated VMPlayer but after that it doesn't work. When I try to start the program it advice me that 'Before you can run VMware, several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel'. I select the 'Install' button but the procedure fails immediately during the compiling of the 'Virtual Machine Monitor'.
The problem seems to be the vmmon module.

I use VMware for a long time, it normally needs patchs for new kernels, Workstation 8 and Player 4 for now don't need any, they simple work out of the box, very nice

  • "Relinking Failed" when trying to relink to encoded M2V and AIFF in DVDSP4

NOTE: There seems to be a similar topic on this already found at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=686483&tstart=15, but that topic has seemed to degrade into a debate on audio encoding instead answering the question.
In DVD Studio Pro 4, I am bringing uncompressed QuickTimes into projects and allowing the program to automatically encode the QuickTimes into their respective M2V and AIFF files (as per the new feature in DVDSP4). I want to delete these uncompressed QuickTimes now since they take up space and are no longer necessary, as the project has the M2V and AIFF files it needs encoded in the contents of the project file (if I right-click on the project file, go to Show Package Contents and navigate to Contents/Resources/MPEG, it shows the M2V and AIFF files along with several PAR files and if I try playing these files, they do actually play in QuickTime just as they should if I encoded them with BitVice). NOTE: the DVDSP4 manual says you are able to do this.
So I delete the uncompressed QuickTimes and open up the project again. As expected, it tells me that the Assets cannot be found and gives me several options: "Replace with Encoded File", "Locate", "Cancel", "Continue". So I try "Replace with Encoded File" because that's exactly what I want to do, and according to the manual it says you are able to do this. It then reports to me where the missing file should be, and where the encoded file it will replace it with is (in the contents of the project folder as noted before). I click OK. Here comes the kicker: when I do this, I get the error message "Relinking Failed: The file you selected does not match the attributes of the missing file." But that's not all. I go on to "Locate" and navigate manually to the project/Contents/Resources/MPEG directory, but alas, the file I want has disappeared! And only that file only that I just tried relinking is gone, the rest are still there!
I tested some more and had the Contents/Resources/MPEG directory open when trying "Replace with Encoded File" and the moment I hit OK to try to replace with the encoded file, the file deletes itself! And then, of course, I get the error message. Now, the manual says I should be able to do exactly what I'm trying to do - get rid of the original QuickTimes and replace them with the encoded files - but this repeatedly happens with different QuickTimes and different DVD projects. And encoding the files outside of DVDSP4 is not a solution, it is simply a poor workaround.
Here are the machine specs not already listed below:
    QuickTime Pro version 7.0.1
DVD Studio Pro 4 version 4.0.3
The QuickTimes are kept on a Medea RAID
The DVD Studio Pro 4 projects are kept on a G-RAID
Both RAIDs are formatted Mac OS Extended

Drew13, thank you for the reply.
I do agree with you that encoding outside of DVD SP is better than letting the program do it, and if I was in charge at my place of business that is how I would do it. However I am not in charge.
The problem remains that the manual says that I should be able to do it this way, being able to delete the original, uncompressed QuickTimes and replace them with the encoded files. I have not tried your method of deleting the references the references to the missing asset (I will be sure to try doing so when I get the chance), but again, that is a workaround and not a solution. If the manual says I am able to do it the exact way I'm doing it, then it should work the exact way I'm doing it. But it is not.
Is it possible this is a bug? Do members of the DVDSP4 programming team read this forum and would be able to answer this?
    Thank you.

Just did a downgrade and it's working again, here are my versions.

    nvidia 319.32-2
    nvidia-utils 319.32-1

If you have conflicts, I found it easiest to remove those (bbswitch, virtualbox in my case), downgrade linux and then install the appropriate  bbs/vb packages

    Thanks. It solved this problem.
I still cannot get sound to work in lxc guest. I can only get sound through the dummy card, but not in the host. Is it possible that lxc cannot work with avahi/zerconf.

  • How can you share a library across several modules

We have a flex app that is comprised of several modules. We have a library that needs to be used across many of those modules. Is there a way to only have one single copy of the library that all modules can share?  Or are we forced to put a copy of the library in each modules libs folder?
I tried to put the library into the main application's lib folder, but the modules would not compile.
    Thanks!

Add the SWC to the library-path options of the other modules Project Properties.

    Which plugin?
OK, I assume the Microsoft Media server?
Yes, the readme lists oracle9i client is necessary as a minimum... It is used to communicate with the database (although I think it is best to have the DB on the same machine as the MMS Plugin).
9i client is included if your DB is installed on the windowa machine.

  • Failed to load module "record"

I'm trying to install Arch Linux on my Dell GX270 with an Intel chipset I'm nusing the i686 version rather than the xf86_64 version. It has a 2.26 Ghz processor and 512mb RAM
I've tried installing xorg and configured it with hwd -xa and such but when I do startx I get:
(EE) Failed to load module "record" (module does not exist, 0)
    (EE) No devices detected
    lspci | grep VGA gives:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
Some other people seem to have had a similar problem but it was a problem with Nvidia chipsets and I have an Intel one. I tried commenting out the line of xorg.conf where it says to load module record as I've already had to comment the type1 one out but then it just says (EE) No devices detected.
    Can anyone help?

It doesn't work from root either and gives the same error.
I tried blacklisting it but it didn't seem to have any effect, and I don't really understand why it would. The problem is that it doesn't seem to exist.
What does the module do anyway? I've never heard of it before and it just doesn't sound critical somehow. Googling it just returns this thread. Is it possible that the record module is just a minor thing like the type1 module which I had to comment out and the actual problem goes deeper?

  • Loadlibrary ("olkexpress5.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found.

About a month ago, the Desk Manager app stopped recognizing that my blackberry was connected via usb so I decided to remove/reinstall the Blackberry Desktop 4.3 software. Now, everytime I install the software I receive the following message during the installation:Errors 1904.Module C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\Blackberry\IS71 Connectors\OE Connector\OLKExpress5.dll failed to register.  HRESULT-2147024770.  Contact your support personnel. If I try to manually register the file it fails with the following error "Loadlibrary ("olkexpress5.dll") failed - The specified module could not be found." My the desktop manager currently will recognize my blackberry as long as I don't disconnect the blackberry before first powering off the laptop.  Any one have any ideas regarding this issue?

Perform clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software.
    Check for instruction: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
After that  go to here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
and download the latest (v4.7) BlackBerry Desktop Software.
I recommend to download  BlackBerry Desktop Software without Media Manager.
Media manager is not necessary to transfer files to the device and vice versa.
Check this link: HOWTO : use your blackberry as a USB device

    /Richard

    those are xorg modules
As xorg7 is modular, you'll need to install the modules you need. At least you should have for keyboard and mouse to work:
    pacman -S xf86-input-mouse xf86-input-keyboard
Then you should have one for your video card
    pacman -S xf86-video-{your video}
You can see which ones are available from
    pacman -Ss xf86-video
Then you need to configure xorg if you haven't done so far.
As root type 'xorgconfig' for a nice script to help you configure it.
