Relocating/resetting the text cursor position

Question

This is a very beginner question. I don't even know if it can be done in java, but I know it can be done in qbasic, so I hope so.
I want to move the location of the text cursor so it is set back to the initial location. That way, I can update the display, without the dos box scrolling.
As you may have guessed, yes, this is command line at the moment still. I don't know GUI stuff yet, I'm just learning.
In qbasic, what I would do is this: LOCATE 1,1
Can that be done in JAVA2?

Hi! Once a linefeed ("\n") is issued, you cannot go back as you would like. However, you can use a carriage return ("\r") character to achieve that effect, just like in C or C++. Here's a quick code snippet.

         System.out.print( "Counter : " + i + "\r" );
         try
            Thread.sleep( 250 );
         catch( InterruptedException x )
}Don't worry about the try...catch block. That essentially puts the running thread to sleep for 250 ms, so that you can actually observe the counter update.
