Remap Function keys on MBP to use in 3270 emulator?

I use a 3270 emulator for work which relies on the use of the Function Keys for navigation. Keys F1 - F24 are used frequently and while I can create "clickable" versions of the keys, it's not as efficient as having them on the keyboard.
Is there a way to remap the MBP keys to use as function keys F1-F24?

Function Key not work when using jre1.5

My application was based on JDK1.3 to develop and JRE 1.3 is using in the client side.
In the application, function keys are the shortcut and it is working fine based on the above setting.
Since JRE 1.5 is encouraged to be used in the future, we try to use it to run our application. But we find that all function keys are not working.

I try to compile my code using JDK 1.3 and 1.5. Actually, there is no compilation error.

The supported Software in iPlanet's Portal Server is JDK/JRE 1.2.2_07 and JDK 1.2.2_09(in SP4). Starting with JDK1.3.1_01, applets are handled somewhat differently. Enable Java and look at the error messages in Java Console to find why the Netlet is not loading in JDK1.3.1_02. The issue might be with two JRE's or with your cache setting. Hope this helps you.

Remapping function keys the way users need them to

Expose was a feature that I used seamlessly when going between apps on a MacBook. Ever since I got a MacBook Pro it's been frustrating using Expose and Spaces ever since.
1. I never did use the hot corners. Way too many inadvertent calls, especially if you use all three. Plus, using the function keys are a lot faster.
2. OK, so we finally don't need to use two hands for right-clicking, but why do we now need it for Expose and Spaces? When going between apps, my finger drifted easily and rapidly to F8, F9 and F10, but now I have to use two hands? This is especially annoying when you're just in review mode and using only one hand, on the phone, lounging, etc.
3. I know I can reverse the function keys, but I'd like to control volume and screen display with one hand as well.
Feature request: Rather than have a universal one-check-box switch between function keys and special features printed on the keys, I would absolutely be a lot more efficient and quicker in my workflow if I was simple allowed to choose whether I wanted each individual function key to be the special feature or a standard function. In other words, I'd like to use one hand to control volume, screen display, Spaces, and Expose. The backlit display and desktop viewer switch features are seldom if ever used for me - kind of a waste of efficiency.
DoubleCommand, previously suggested, doesn't do this. Does anything?

The feature request is a small part of the message to explain what I'm looking for, either as a script or third party app or something I'm overlooking, or if I am indeed completely out of luck and that my only option was to have submitted a feature request.

Remapping function keys

Does anyone know how to remap the function keys in Rel. 11i? For example, in Rel. 10.7 character base, f10 was the save key. In Rel. 11i, it's Ctrl S. This is not going to be very acceptable by our data entry people.

Copy $ORACLE_HOME/forms45/admin/resource/US/fmrpcwed.res to say $FND_MOD/resource/fmrweb.res. This file has the Smart Client mapping that you want. You can change the mapping if you wish. Compare this file to the Standard NCA mapping which is $ORACLE_HOME/forms45/admin/resource/US/fmrweb.res. In your html login file (eg testdb.html), you can map it to this file by adding:
term=/usr/testdb/10.7/nca/fnd_mod/1.0.0/resource/fmrweb.res or where your $FND_MOD/resource/fmrweb.res is. You add it at ....FNDSCSGN/userid=APPLSYSPUB/PUB&TESTDB fndnam=APPS term=/usr/..../fmrweb.res.

I've remapped the Function key to show desktop, can't undo.

As the title says, I remapped this key to the show desktop feature. Now when I want to use the function keys I have to use them blind as the windows disappear when I try to use it!
I've reset all keyboard shortcuts in Keyboard. I've made sure that "show desktop" under mission control is not set to function either.
Any ideas?

How to close a popup using a function key in adf + Jquery

I want to display some error message using function key so I have used javascript function

This is working fine on click of F4 it is invoking a popup and inside that popup in dialog it is showing some error messages. The property modal of dialog is true. So that user should not be able to navigate to main form until error message is closed.
Now on click of F6 I want that error message to be closed. When I added af:clientListener on popup or dialog type="keyDown" is not available.
So I thought using jquery for this. I have created a form.js file inside that I have written:

this whitepaper: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/1-2011-javascript-302460.pdf has an example of registering keyboard keys on a global level (see page 36). So you would define a key to close dialogs in general. The paper also explains how to search and find components. Note that you should always work with the ADF Faces client side API and never against the generated markup or DOM (which in fact your code does)

Disable the need of the function key when using the control key

I'm often using the F1-12 keys when using an IDE for developing. Those IDE's use the CTR+F1-12 shortcuts quite a bit and it's always needed to use FN+CTR+F1-12 which is ridiculous and redundant. Is there a way to keep using the functions assigned to F1-12 (Adjust volume, brightness...) without pressing the function key and be able of using CTR or ALT +F1-12 without the need of pressing the function key?

According to the system help text it is possible. And for me it works as described in the help text on my MacBook Pro.
But on my Mac Pro (late 2013) the relevant control (“Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys”) is missing form System Preferences >> Keyboard >> Keyboard.
From the help text for the topic "Use keyboard function keys:"
If you frequently use the alternate function of a function key, you can switch the keyboard so that the function keys perform the alternate function without your pressing Fn. You then hold down Fn to use a function key’s original hardware control function. If your keyboard doesn’t have an Fn key, try holding down the Control key.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard.
Open Keyboard preferences
Select the “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” checkbox.

Function keys on the screen

hi folks,
I have a question, I created a new function key called 'display' for the screen using the menu painter used that in the program and executed the program successfully in DEV environment. when I moved the changes (moved all) to QAS the function key 'display' did not show up. I checked to see that the function key item got moved using the menu painter in QAS. The item is there in QAS amd checked for the changes in the program using version management. no changes How come the function key is missing on the screen in QAS?
Am I missing anything here?

If you activate your program after you've made your screen changes, sometimes you lose those screen changes. You may need to go back in to the screen and reactivate, then transport it. If necessary, make a small change (like adding a blank line somewhere in the flow logic of the screen) in order to get the screen changes into a transport. I hope this helps.

Macbook Keyboard Function Keys?

I wanted to play diablo 2 on my new macbook.
However, I noticed that in order to switch between spells, I need to press the fn in addition to the function keys in order to use the keys f1, f2, etc.
Is there a way to change the setting so that you dont have to press fn in order to use keys f1, f2, etc?

How can I use Automator to toggle the Function Keys?

I am trying to create a Automated process to toggle the Function Keys on my keyboard. This is because I use several programs, including After Effects, which use the F1-12 keys, but when I am not using that program I commonly use the Apple-defined shortcuts on the keyboard. I have a full-sized keyboard, hence no Fn key. So that's out right away – I've read several comments on this topic where people suggested that this is the ONLY option. I refuse to beleive that.
Automator contains a "Watch Me Do" feature, which I have tried to use to record this process. Problem is, it never clicks the right object. If I record clicking the dock, the magnification (I suspect) throws off the virtual-controlled mouse and picks the wrong object. If I record the Apple Menu route, it gets it about 1/2 the time.
I think what I'm really looking for is a console command I can feed into the Terminal which toggles the keys. It seems to be that this HAS to be an option, even if it is more than one line of commands. I believe if I can feed this process into Automator, it would work.
Any ideas?

iKey lets you define function keys per application. You seem to want to turn on & off the defined apple keys. Not sure if these keyboard re-mappers will do the trick.
Here is my other most favored application. Of course, I haven't checked these out in newer OS's. I'm a Tiger man myself.
iKey is a front end program that simulates typing and mouse movements. I use iKey to remap the Function keys.

iKey has a little more function then the previous free version called youpi key. For many years, I used youpi key before switching to iKey. It works fairly well for me in MAC OS 10.4 although not officially supported. The youpi key download is hard to find & no longer here.

I have the common programs that I use assigned to function keys. I have F4 assigned to Firefox. When I want to start FireFox, I press F4. When I want to switch to firefox, I press F4! Starting & switching to an application in Mac OS are the same thing in Mac OS.

Remap Eject to Function Key

Is it possible to remap the eject key to the function key. I don't need an eject button on the keyboard, but would love a function key there for one handed page up/down and windows-esque delete key.
The doublecommand software doesn't list that as an option.

Hi.
Are you absolutely sure your eject key is defective? Since 10.4.9, there's a change in the way it works, and you just have to hold it down for a couple of seconds to work.
If you want to open the tray, you can go to Macintosh HD (or whatever your drive is called)/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras, and double click the Eject.menu file, and an eject ⏏ icon will be placed in the menu bar.
You can also use Terminal, typing at the prompt:
drutil tray eject
or
drutil eject tray

Simulating the Next, Previous, Pause Function keys on older MBP

Hi all,
I would like to simulate the function keys on newer MBP and Mac keyboards so I can have global pause, play, forward and back for iTunes.
I have a Shuttle Xpress and I thought I might be able to assign a key combo to its buttons so I could pause and skip tracks in iTunes even when I am using something else like Maya or Photoshop.
I use this function all the time on the keyboard for my MacPro because I will need to take calls, or I just want to skip to a new track, but I could Google my way to a solution.
