Remediation to a video chunk?

I have a course that has a series of video demos throughout and a question or two after each video series. Users are given 2 chances to get the answer correct before remediating back to the relevant content; is there a way to tell Captivate to remediate to a specific time on the timeline? So the user doesn't have to watch the entire video again, rather, watch the content that's relevant to the question.
Thanks for the help!

I have another question regarding remediation.
On my quiz slide, I have it set up as the following:
-I have a text caption that states the correct answer (hidden)
-I have a SS button in that text caption (hidden)
-1 attempt
-1 failure message
-last attempt - execute AA
     -If QuizTryCounter=2, then
     -Assign QuizTryCounter with 1
-Show text caption and SS button
     -Else, Assign QuizTryCounter with 2
     -Jump to the remediated slide
This works but sometimes it doesn't jump to the remediated slide. What could be the issue? Why wouldn't it jump to the slide?

  • How do I play a video and audio file at the same time on Apple Tv?

I need to play a video loop (with no audio) on my apple tv and also play some music in the background. Its a video loop with no audio and then I need music to play in the background. The loop needs to repeat all day because its only 5 min long and the audio is an entire play list that's several hours. This is for a lobby flat screen setup.

    QuickTimeKirk wrote:
Very difficult request because the Apple TV can only play one file at a time. It doesn't have a "loop" feature.
You could use QuickTime Player Pro to "join" the audio files into one file. The hard part would be adding the five minute video chunks via copy/paste as each would be added as a new "video" track. QuickTime .mov files can have up to 99 "tracks" and the .mov container is supported by Apple TV.
So this new file would have a new video track (actually just a copy of the original) that played up to 98 times. A five minute source video would end up being a bit over 8 hours in duration.
The 98 track video could be "flattened" into one video track via export. The same for the audio track movie.
    Other options:
Set the Quicktime Loop flag in the movie inspector properties.
Make a video playlist, adding the file to the playlist lots of times - make sure playlists are enabled in Settings for video not just music.

  • Need help with video uploading in flex 4

hey guys... so i need to create a video uploading application... with video chunking...
basically i need to break up the video file (may be 1Gig or more in size) in pieces and send it to the server using a method i call from my webservice...
    any ideas??
i believe this process is called chunking... not sure how to do this...
thank you very much in advance!!!

dude. some time itunes just doesnt support drag and drop techniques . just try the simple copy and paste(ctrl(c+v)). if that file is gonna be played on the ipod u get a small tab box in the itunes that the file which u r copying is being processed .
even if this technique doesnt work , then thats a faulty format . u can try another video converter . say videora or Aplus video converter . u will find them in www.download.com

First I'll establish a HP as a server and the other HP as a client for video streaming using bluetooth. Can anyone please tell me if video streaming using bluetooth is possible for Nokia N7610. I have tried my program in emulator WTK2.2, it's working like what I want..but there's a problem when I'm trying in N7610,N3230,N6233..it said that "there's no services" when client program try to find services from server program

  • FCPX starting a clip black with audio playing and fade in video from black

Hello FCPers, I recently have made the leap from FCP7 to X. I have not gotten used to the lack of rubber bands on clips vid and audio in the timeline. So how would you:
Start a clip with video black, audio fades in from silence, then fade in the video over the running audio all in the same clip?
The hard way was to cut the clip up, separate video and audio and use the video animator on the first video chunk, then fade in the 2nd chunk manually. Ahhh, if I could only option-T a keyframe diamond on that line.
Everything else is going without a hitch. Let me know what you think.

CControl-V to open video animation and ramp the opacity with the fade handle.
I Prefer to put a gap clip in front of the video. Expand the audio then roll the gap clip on top of it to trim the video. Cross dissolve to the video to fade it up.

  • CS5.5 .avi settings - daktronics

I've searched through a handful of forums with similar questions, but never seem to find the specific circumstance I am encountering. Hopefully someone here might know of a workaround for me, or point me in the right direction.
I work for a live venue (arena) and do the video creative for the LED ribbon and video boards for all of our events. We use Daktronics software to import and play all content files, and unfortunately, the only video file type this system is set up to read is an uncompressed 29.97, square pixels at 9,264x32, RGB, best quality, millions of colors, no codec, .AVI file. Previously, in my CS4 and CS3, the file > Export > .AVI was an option so I simply set those settings as my default, and this was the only way to guarentee the file rendered was indeed these exact specifications.
I now have CS5.5 and found that the .avi export is now listed under the traditional render settings, however, when I chose this option and set my non-codec/file settings, the file it exports is still writing the content as a millions of colors+, which will NOT work on the daktronics equipment, even though the settings list it as not +. For the time being I've been creating in CS5.5, rendering as an .AVI, and then taking the video file into my personal computers AE CS4 and re-exporting with the proper settings.
I understand this is a very rare circumstance, but does anyone have any suggestions or perhaps codec installs/updates they could think might help me in this situation? Unfortunately I can't have them change the entire daktronics system to take new file types. I have tried rendering the .AVI's with every option I could think of under the render settings, and nothing has worked thus far.
I appreciate any feedback and input anyone can spare.
    Thank you,
    Jenae

The problem is that Adobe is writing compressed video in a non-standard way.  Data is written in an AVI file in chunks with four character codes (FCCs) to define the chunks and some items in the chunks.  There are two FCCs that can be used to define video frame chunks, “00db” for an uncompressed frame or “00dc” typically for a compressed frame.  If “00dc” is used for uncompressed video the compression code is supposed to be “DIB “ which means a DIB codec, which is basically uncompressed.  Adobe’s CS5 is writing video chunks with the “00dc” code but not specifying the “DIB “ compression code but instead just putting in null characters.  This would appear to be a violation of the AVI specification and is the reason that earlier versions of the Venus 7000 do not work with these files.  CS4 and earlyer versions used the "00db" FCC so they did not have the problem.
Venus 7000 version 6.24.0.1 is the first version to have the fix that supports the non-standard CS5 uncompressed AVIs.

  • Media import problem

    Hi
I'm very new to this so please bear with me! I'm having problems downloading avi movie files into Premier Elements 10. I have tried a couple of clips with the same result. The clip is only partially imported, I have one that is apprx 30 mins long but only showing 1min30 in Elements. Also when I play it, only the audio plays and the preview pane shows a still image from the end of the clip (which is not actually there!).
I'm running Elements 10 on a PC with windows 7.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

There are possible issues related to the use of your .avi files.
    a. Video compression. "AVI" is just the file extension. That "AVI" is a container format that wraps the video compression which could be several different types. AVCHD.avi, Xvid.avi, and others can be highly problematic for Premiere Elements.
    b. File Size. "AVI" files have a history for file size limitations depending on the nature of the .avi file and the computer operating system.

    c. Other
I think that we would get a good start knowing the properties readout for your video, using the free utility will be particularly useful.

Your situation may be further complicated if you computer used a NVIDIA video card. Premiere Elements 10 NVIDIA video card users have been targeted for display issues which are remedied by NVIDIA video card driver roll back instead of insuring that you have the latest version of the driver installed.

  • Hang ups and jerkiness in iMovie HD export to mini dv camera

I have a big problem-- while I am trying to export a TV show created in *_iMovie HD 6.0.3 (267.2)*_ to my *Sony DCR TRV-900*, which I have done many times.
Suddenly, there is jerkiness upon export to my camera. My iMoive video which plays back normally on the coputer looks jerky and almost slo mo while going to camera, and is also like than when the mini dv is played back. However the audio quality seems to be ok on the mini dv.
FYI, this show is made up of a series of Full Quality Quicktime chunks (ie individual scenes that I made and exported thru iMovie as Full Quality QuickTime, and then re-imported as individual Quicktime video chunks so not to tax the exporting capacity of iMovie too much).
The show is about 26 minutes, and the size of the iMovie file is about 26 gigs. The file resides on a Maxtor external drive with firewire 400.
I have plugged and replugged, turned camera on and off, and changed mini dv tapes a couple of times...
Does anybody out there know what is up with this jerky outputting problem?
    Thanks
    Michael in LA

Not sure why you should have this problem now, but you can export the entire movie as a new Full Quality Quicktime, and then reimport that into a new iMovie and export that new iMovie to your camcorder.
Just be sure you have enough free space on your hard drive where your iMovie is located.
.....that MIGHT be the problem with the jerking......how much free space do you have?

  • Problem with ripped MPEGs in Encore CS3

A friend had created a DVD (with either Windows Movie Maker or Nero; not sure which), but I wanted to redo the menu (his was really lame). His software created four .VOB chunks of the 50-minute video.
I ripped these chunks, renamed them as .mpg, and imported them into Encore 1.5 (which I had at the time) as four separate timelines. All four chunks imported OK, but I had to transcode the last three before placing them on timelines. I created a new menu, and burned a new DVD. However, playback on both my computer and my DVD player had noticeable pauses between each timeline chunk (my friend's original DVD does play back seamlessly). I tried both linked timelines through end actions and a playlist - same result.
I upgraded to Encore CS3 because it now can add more than one video file to a single timeline, thinking that would eliminate the pauses between the chunks and I'd get seamless playback. However, when importing the original .mpg chunks into Encore CS3, I get noticeable noise, in the form of green macroblocking in the first few frames of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chunks, which were NOT present in Encore 1.5. (I see the same noise when importing these chunks into Premier Pro CS3.) Also, Encore CS3 marks these last three video chunks as "Don't Transcode", but when I place them on the single timeline, there is no audio.
I've read through and understand the several Forum threads about the difficulty of working with ripped DVD files. I'm not trying to do any sort of editing on the video chunks. However, I tried some of the MPEG editors suggested in these threads to create a single .mpg file, but they have their own problems with this.
The original AVI file has been lost. I could recreate it from the source VHS tape, but have been trying to avoid that.
Anyone have any thoughts about this? If the behavior I described above in the two CS3 packages is a potential bug, I would be happy to submit a bug report to Adobe.
    Thanks

Sorry to say this really is not a bug.
The kind of thing that you're trying to do is something Encore was never intended to be capable of doing - it's that simple.
Renaming a VOB file to mpg is a workaround to try & force import of a format that is essentially designed to be on a completed, compiled DVD-Video disc. It is not the same as properly demiltiplexing the stream. A VOB file on a DVD is a Video OBject.
The way this works (structure wise) is like this:
    VTS_01_0.VOB = the menus for VTS 1
    VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, & VTS_01_4.VOB are all separate parts of the same timeline - VTS 1.
They are split into 4 because the timeline after encoding will have between between 3 & 4Gb in size. The way DVD-Video gets compiled will take a single encoding of 3.5Gb and break it into seamless chunks of 1 or less Gb each.
These VOB files contain everything - including any subtitles.
They are not designed to be edited.
The safest way to get seamless use - assuming that you absolutely must rework files - is to jouin all the 4 VOB files together using a simple command line instruction.
    (copy /b VTS_01_1.VOB+VTS_01_2.VOB VTS_ALL.VOB)
The /b switch is for a binary copy, and although I am uncertain if this is absolutely required or not, it is how we join up the 2 .DAT files when restoring DLT tape content to DVD-R DL discs)
Renaming this to a .mpg file may give you the seamless playback you are looking for.

  • Using AudioFileOpenUrl to play a remotely hosted audio file

I was playing around with the iPhone SDK and I wanted to write a trivial app (UIView with UIButton, press button, play file) that played a remotely hosted mp3 file. It seems like this should be simple:
    NSString *filepath = @"http://www.server.com/legal.mp3";
    CFURLRef audioFileURL = CFURLCreateWithString(NULL, (CFStringRef) filepath, NULL);
    AudioFileID audioFile;
    if (noErr != AudioFileOpenURL(audioFileURL, fsRdPerm, 0, nil)) {
    NSLog(@"Error - : could not open audio file. Path given was: %@", audioFileURL);
Why doesn't this work? What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Can I span a zoom across 2 sections of a cpvc movie?

When editing a demo video I recorded, I trimmed out a section which resulted in the timeline being split into 2 video chunks. The cut is seemless and it occurs in a section of the video that I want to maintain a zoom. It seems though that the zoom I begin in the first chunk of video dosen't carry over to the second chunk and when I add an identical zoom to the second chunk there is still a tiny gap where the video jumps to its original view before quickly jumping back to the zoom. This is very jarring. Is there a way to either carry the zoom across the break between the two sections of video, or merge the two sections of video back into one? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I understand your point, now as your have two chunks of vidoes under yoru Video Demo, you must be having two start and two different end pointers under the timeline. Make sure that you do not have any transition applied to the beginning (start pointer) of the second video chunk. Because if you have any transition it would take its time display and fter that teh zoom/pan effect would appear.
    Thanks,

  • Encryption in JMF

I'm writing a program for streaming video using RTP. Part of it involves encryption. The AVTransmit2 program provided at http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/AVTransmit2.java seems to suit the purpose as far as the streaming part is concerned. Can anyone provide any suggestions as to how I can incorporate encryption into the program? Thanks.

How exactly are you wanting to encrpyt the video?
Are you wanting to do something like apply an encryption codec?
Or are you wanting to encrypt the data in the RTP packets that transmit the video chunks over the internet?
Answer the question by looking at the associated example code I've provided, and if you need any further assistance, just ask ;-)

  • Playing 3gpp or mp4 contents with JMF

    Hi everyone
I try to send encoded(3gpp or mp4 ) video chunk in byte array from mobile phone and play it pc side in java.
But I could'nt play it. JMF does not support these content type. how do I achive this problem. It must have a solution!!:S
    thanks..
    Gökhan..

There's a small chance that the AVI has been created with a codec the mac doesn't support. Go to a windows machine, download GSPOT (I kid not). Do a search for GSPOT and codec just to be on the safe side
GSPOT will tell you exactly what the codecs are within the file. Cross reference this with Perian and you should be good.
