Remote debugging issue

I've used the following remote debug properties and able to remote debug the Weblogic server from Oracle workshop.
-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8787,server=y,suspend=n
But this restricts to only one user/ client at any given time. Is there anyway inwhich one can enable mulitple user while remote debugging?
Amarnath

Not sure if it matters but I am using JDEV 9.0.3.4 with a 9.2.0.4 database and successfully stepped into and over a call to a java stored procedure from a PL/SQL trigger. I have a PL/SQL procedure which causes a trigger to be fired which in turn calls a Java Stored procedure.
Here is what I did:
1) create PL/SQL (including trigger and procedure) and deploy Java Stored Procedure
2) In SQLPlus send the command:
ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_DEBUG=TRUE;
3) Execute the PL/SQL Procedure (which causes trigger to be fired)
4) In JDeveloper select Project properties->Debugger->remote and select JPDA Listen
5) Set a breakpoint in the trigger
6) Select debug and enter a port number for the listener
7) In SQLPLUS send the command:
CALL DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP( '<Your IP>', '<listener port>' );
8) Verify call succeeded is received in SQLPlus and debuggee connects to the debugger in JDeveloper.
9) Execute the PL/SQL procedure
10) When breakpoint hit stepped into the Java Stored procedure (which was not in the project so added to source path via the popup dialog)
11) stepped out of the Java Stored Procedure back into trigger
Hope this helps,
Bud

  • Remote debugging issue: Address already in use

    First, I want to explain that to use remote debugging in oracle UCM server (IdcServerNT.exe), I add these lines at */server/bin/intradoc.cfg*:
    JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable=-Xdebug
    JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options=-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,address=8000,suspend=n
    and since the JAVA_OPTIONS is shared between admin server (IdcAdminNT.exe) and non-admin server (IdcServerNT.exe), to prevent "Address already in use" error, I added same lines but with empty value into */server/admin/bin/intradoc.cfg*:
    JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable=
    JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options=
    or alternatively enable it but use different port for the "address=xxx".
    Now the issue is when I had run the non-admin UCM server with remote debugging enabled, then I tried to run the Component Wizard, I got "Address already in use" error:
    ERROR: transport error 202: bind failed: Address already in use ["transport.c",L41]
    I found out that's possible because Component Wizard (ComponentWizard.exe) is using same setting file with non-admin server (IdcServerNT.exe): */server/bin/intradoc.cfg*. It's obvious that happened because of ComponentWizard.exe is in same location with IdcServerNT.exe, so I think other tools like Batch Loader and System Properties will be affected with same issue too.
    Because of this issue, everytime I want to open Component Wizard, I had to stop the non-admin server which is inconvenient.
    So, the question is there a way to define separately or disable the JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable & JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options for Component Wizard?

  • Issue getting Edge Code Preview 3 to enable Remote Debugging

    Hi all,
    I am using the latest version of Chrome as my default browser. I opened up ECP3 and pointed to the project I wanted to use it for (WordPress site on WAMP server). I then clicked live preview and it opened the URL up properly in Chrome. Moments later, a notification in Edge Code Preview 3 pooped up saying I needed to re-launch Google Chrome with remote debugging enabled. So I clicked Relaunch. Minutes passed, and nothing happened. So I relaunched Chrome myself, clicked live preview again, and the same message comes up.
    I have tried launched Chrome via Live Preview, I have restarted my computer, and closed all Pinned Tabs in Chrome. What is going on here?

    Hmm, this seems like a smiliar issue to this - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1159001?tstart=0
    Can you try forcing Chrome to run with remote debugging enabled? http://www.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/run-chromium-with-flags - and see if Live Preview works? That's not a solution but will help in figuring out where the break is.
    I'm also going to log an issue on this so we can start tracking it.
    Sorry about the hassle!

  • How to enable remote debugging for a session other than the current one

    Hi all,
    I am trying to figure out how to enable remote debugging for a session other than the one I am currently using.
    More specifically, we have an application that is making database calls to Oracle 11gR2. Something is causing an exception during this invocation. My system is currently not set up to recompile said application, so I can't just add the debug call to the code and recompile. Therefore I would like to be able to log into the database (as sys, if necessary) and invoke dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp on the desired session.
    The docs indicate that I should be able to do so:
    dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp(
    host IN VARCHAR2,
    port IN VARCHAR2,
    session_id IN PLS_INTEGER := NULL,
    session_serial IN PLS_INTEGER := NULL,
    debug_role IN VARCHAR2 := NULL,
    debug_role_pwd IN VARCHAR2 := NULL,
    option_flags IN PLS_INTEGER := 0,
    extensions_cmd_set IN PLS_INTEGER := 128);
    But when I try (even as sys), I get the following:
    exec dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp('1.2.3.4',5678,<session id>,<session serial>);ORA-00022: invalid session ID; access denied
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP", line 68
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    00022. 00000 - "invalid session ID; access denied"
    *Cause:    Either the session specified does not exist or the caller
    does not have the privilege to access it.
    *Action:   Specify a valid session ID that you have privilege to access,
    that is either you own it or you have the CHANGE_USER privilege.
    I've tried granting the 'BECOME USER' privilege for the relevant users, but that didn't help. I read something about having to set some kind of ACL as of 11gR1, but the reference documentation was very confusing.
    Would someone be able to point me in the right direction? Is this even possible, or did I misread the documentation?

    Interesting deduction, that would be very useful indeed. I hate recompiling just to add the debug call, and it can't be done in our production environment. But it seems unlikely to me it would be implemented this way.
    I would cross-post this in the SQL AND PL/SQL forum though, as this is really a database issue, not with the SQL Developer tool. Do add the links to the other posts in each.

    K.

  • How to start listener in sql developer for remote debug

    how to start listener in sql developer for remote debug ? Since the new version 1.1.0.23 is different with the old version for remote debug, I don't know how to start the listener on the new version for remote debug.
    even follow the user guide below and not work . Experts on sql developer please help me with this.
    Remote Debugging
    To debug a procedure or function for a connection where the database is on a different host than the one on which you are
    running SQL Developer, you can perform remote debugging.
    Remote debugging involves many of the steps as for local debugging; however, do the
    following before you start the remote debugging: Use an Oracle client such as SQL*Plus to issue the debugger connection command. Whatever
    client you use, make sure that the session which issues the debugger connection commands is the same session which executes your PL/SQL
    program containing the breakpoints.
    For example, if the name of the remote system is remote1, use the following SQL*Plus command to open a
    TCP/IP connection to that system and the port for the JDWP session:
    EXEC DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP('remote1', '4000'); The first parameter
    is the IP address or host name of the remote system, and the second parameter is the port number on that remote system on which the debugger
    is listening.
    Right-click the connection for the remote database, select Remote Debug, and complete the information in the Debugger - Attach
    to JPDA dialog box. Then, follow the steps that you would for local debugging (for example, see Debugging a PL/SQL Procedure).
    Debugger - Attach to JPDA This dialog box is displayed when you right-click a database connection name and select Remote Debug.
    Use this
    dialog box if you are using the Sun Microsystem's Java Platform Debugger Architecture (JPDA) and you would like the debugger to listen so
    that a debuggee can attach to the debugger.
    For more information about remote debugging, see Remote Debugging.
    Host: Name or IP address of
    the remote host on which SQL Developer should listen for the database to connect.
    Port: Listening port number on the remote host. You can
    choose any valid port number that is not in use by another process.
    Timeout: The number of seconds that SQL Developer will wait for the
    remote database to make a debugging connection. Don't Show Dialog Box Before Connecting: If this option is checked, this dialog box will not
    be displayed before future connections for remote debugging

    You're not the only one:
    Not able to start remote debug listener

  • WD Java Remote Debug problem: Release Process from debugging

    Hi Community,
    when I used to debug Web Dynpro Java from the SAP Developer Studio (eclipse) to a remote host (Portal AS NW Java), it works fine for the first run. After disconnecting the remote debug session (server0), I changed the coding and try to debug again with the effect that the old coding is still used from the server process (server0) even though the parameter "Create and Deploy archive" is set (enabled) in the debug configuration. Furthermore the funktionality of "Relase process from debugging" option in the J2EE Engine dosn't react / work.
    I think that the debug session is still running and the Developer Studio is not able to send any "Kill" statement to the server process for ending this session.
    I tried following:
    A. Rebuild Project and Deploy the archive on the "normal" way
    B. Reopen the Developer Studio itself
    C. Start the Project in debugmode again and chose the option "Terminate All"
    ...all without any success.
    The only way is to restart the whole server process server0 again with the same trouble after the first debug.
    Did any of you have a clue or experience to clear or kill the debugsession from the process so that next debugsessions can be started, please reply.

  • Remote Debugging w/Eclipse Transport Error

    I am requesting help on a problem I am encountering using remote debugging with eclipse and Weblogic 8.1.2. I have successfully used remote debugging in the past with other application servers, but I have been unsuccessful with Weblogic 8.1.
    I have set the remote debugging options both on the weblogic start script as well as configured eclipse to connect to the port that was defined in the startup script (See Below). When I start the remote debugger within eclipse and it seems to connect properly. Once I set a break point or remove a break point, weblogic generates a "Transport error, error code = -1" and stops the debugger with in Eclipse.
    At this point I am at a loss of what is causing this error. I would appreciate any help on this issue.

    Interesting. I tried it and it works. you might want to check your Eclipse port number. In addition try netstat -a to see if port 1044 is active.

  • Remote debugging an executable with dynamically loaded subpanel VIs

    All,
    A colleague of mine is attempting to perform remote debugging of an executable he has inherited. It includes subpanels that show dynamically loaded VIs. When connecting with the remote debugger, the main executable shows fine, but the dynamically loaded VIs are not showing their front panels. They appear ok on the remote PC where the executable is running, but they don't appear on his laptop from where he is running the debugger.
    I don't have access to LabVIEW currently, and he cannot get this to work, so I thought I'd ask the community this generic question:
    "Is it possible to remotely debug a LabVIEW executable with subpanels that show dynamically loaded subVIs?"
    Technically he can see and probe the block diagram of the main executable, but the subpanels are blank where the dynamcally loaded subVI front panel should show, making it impossible to interact with the program.

  • Remote debugging through NAT - VS2013, C#

    I need help figuring out how to initiate a remote debugging session when the target computer is across the internet and behind NAT. VS2013 and a C# application, .net 4.5
    Remote debugging works great here on my LAN, but now I need to connect to a remote stand alone (not on a domain) PC that is behind NAT; it's WAN IP is different from its LAN IP.  My development PC is also behind NAT.  I do not have access to the
    remote firewall/router to configure port forwarding.  Is there any other way I can connect?  Are there any tools that will allow me to connect directly to the remote PC with the remote debugger, similar to how TeamViewer can connect to PC's even
    though they're behind NAT?

    Hi Matt_FL,
    Like this document here:
    http://www.codeproject.com/Tips/618804/Remote-debugging-for-Visual-Studio-from-different
    It shared us the detailed steps about how we setup the remote debugging if the Environments are not in the same domain.
    So I'm afraid that we would check whether the Environments meet the requirements of remote debugging.

    If the remote computer is protected by a firewall, you must configure the firewall to allow the Remote Debugging Monitor to communicate with the Visual Studio host computer.
    If your network requires that communication be performed using IPSec, you must open additional ports in the firewall.
    If you are debugging a process on a web server, you must open an additional port.

  • Multiple Remote Debug Sessions

    I have a feeling that I know the answer but will ask anyway.  Is there any way to set up WebAS so that more than one developer can have a remote debug session at the same time?  All of the documentation that I have seen on http://help.sap.com implies that it is one debug session per Java instance.  I would like to know if you can set up more than one simultaneous debug session on the same instance.
    My guess is no since each developer needs a port to connect to.  Is that true?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    As for a I know your guess is correct and the answer is 'no'. The reason is that the debug port is under control of the java vm, not the java application. And it looks like the vm closes the TCP listening port as soon as a single connection has been established. Only after the connection is closed, the vm reopens the listening port.
    The problem is probably at the OS process level itself; if two remote debuggers took control over one process and one issued a stop while the other asks the process to continue then it's for both debuggers pretty undeterministic in what state the process is running now.

  • Step Over not working with Remote Debugging of Servlets with JRUN

    Platform: JRun 4, JDK 1.4.1, JDev 9.0.3
    using JPDA and copied jpda.jar to JDEV_HOME/java1.2/jre/lib/ext and set path to jar in app server path.
    using debug args: java.args=-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=5000
    ok, I'm able to attach JDeveloper to JRun and remotely debug by jumping from breakpoint to breakpoint but stepover causes JDeveloper to continue execution to completion or to next breakpoint. Any idea why step over does not work? The only way to halt execution during remote debugging is by using breakpoints.
    Thanks in advance for any insight to this issue.

    Hi Bob,
    I think OTN ate the other thread. It says there are 4 replies, but it won't display them. Here's my latest reply.
    I just noticed something interesting from your original message. You say you are using JDK 1.4.1 for the app server (that's good) and you are using JDev 903. But you say you have copied jpda.jar to JDEV_HOME\java1.2. That doesn't make sense because JDev 903 didn't have a java1.2 directory; I think JDev 903 has a jdk directory which contains JDK 1.3 (actually 1.3.1_03 or something like that).
    Also, jpda.jar is really old and the directions for using jpda.jar and for putting jpda\bin on the app server path is really old. Those directions were needed for JDK 1.2 because JPDA was released AFTER the JDK 1.2 was released. Starting with JDK 1.3, jpda is built in and you don't need the jdpa.jar or the jpda\bin, etc.
    All this reminds me that in JDK 1.2, HotSpot had bugs where stepping didn't work!!! I'm almost positive that this is what you are experiencing. Here is my advice:
    1. Make absolutely sure that you are using JDK 1.4.1 (or at least JDK 1.3 or later) for running your app server. Make sure that you are not using JDK 1.2 - you may have modified your app server so that it uses JDEV_HOME\java1.2\bin\java.exe[i]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.
