Remote image not resizing

I have created a web service that pulls images (gif) from the
database and base64 it for sending across the wire. The flex
application then decodes and renders the image. The Image is not
being scaled correctly. If I embed the image into the application
everything works correctly. But if the image is decoded then sizing
goes out the window.
The image overflows the Image box and takes up the full size
of the image. Zoom, rotation, etc. do nothing to the image.
Any help is appreciated...
Example Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute" creationComplete="onLoad(event);">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.utils.Base64Decoder;
public function onLoad(event:Event):void {
// Decode image - Base64 gif image (500 x 776)
var base64:String = "R0lGOD..."; // Get base64 from web
service call
var decoder:Base64Decoder = new Base64Decoder();
decoder.decode(base64);
// Load image into container
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
loader.loadBytes(decoder.flush());
image2.addChild(loader);
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:HBox id="mainBox">
<!-- Should render a 100 x 100 box but instead the image
is full size -->
<mx:Image id="image2" width="100" height="100" />
</mx:HBox>
</mx:Application>

The simplest way to fill a liquid division is to make a small image tile and repeat it in background with CSS code:
Example:
body {
background: url (my-bg-img.jpg) repeat;

• Footer image not resizing in printed documentation

RH11
Does anyone know why an image inserted into a footer master page is not automatically resizing to the width of the printed page when applied to a print layout and output to Word? If you insert an image into the body of a topic or a master page and generate printed documentation, the image automatically resizes.
I'm trying to insert a high-res footer image (300 dpi) into my footer so that it appears on every page, but at the moment it's being embedded at full-size.
Thanks
Jonathan

Firstly, your better off using liststyles than paragraph list styles, I screwed around a long time before I had to set everything to liststyles rather than paragraph ones. So dont worry about that.
The first issue, of not seeing the style - it is there, if you open the Styles tab on screen (click in a topic to get the cursor, then Format > Styles), not just the dropdown like youve shown youll see a list of all your styles, almost, it will show paragraph styles, click the drop-down and select All available styles, this will display your list styles as well!
Im not sure about the style settings, I have the same text setting applied in my list style as I use for my 'normal' text. Though I think you can select the text in a list and apply a paragraph style to it....i just tried and it worked, but to be on the safe side you might want to set the text formatting in the list style css too..
mine looks like this
li.NumberList {
font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 10pt;
color: #524C45;
list-style: decimal;
margin-bottom: 6pt;
margin-top: 6pt;
As for printed formats not indenting lists, this is an issue. So far I have found no way around it because you cannot map a list styles in RH to a list style in Word. This has also created errors for line spacing and indents - and I found the indents are severly messed up when using list styles in snippets. Everytime I create printed documentation I have to manually fix it, a pain but it doesnt take too long....you could use macros etc to speed it all up for you.

Hope it helps.

• Flexible web template image not resizing

I have created a flexible web template using div tags. This is very basic layout. Header,menubar, sidebar ,content, and footer. I am having a problem with images in the flexible content area. If I resize the page the image does not resize. I have placed the image inside a div tag but it is not flexible like the content div tag. I want to be able to resize the page and have the images resize as I drag the page over. Any ideas on this ?

• Mouse over images not resizing correctly in Safari

I have a series of thumbnail images of different sizes that, by using MouseOver, cause a larger image to appear. Safari only seems to resize "larger" and doesn't resize "smaller" resulting in distorted images. This site works fine in every other browser I can lay my hands on. I have managed to get a similar site to work fine but I don't really see the difference between the two. Any ideas on what I need to do? Site that doesn't work www.IllustriousPlay.com/test/Portfolio.html Site that does work www.IllustriousPlay.com/Page1.html Run your mouse over the various images. (Be warned I'm tinkering with the site, so it may have other things wrong with it.)

Kowhai,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I see the distortions.
I am not involved in Web Site design, but will W3C Markup Validation Service help answer your question?
I see Failed validation, 16 errors when I enter your URL.
BTW, I like your colorful illustrations.

• Images not resizing properly when relinking/updating

Hi all,
I'm currently using InDesign CS on OS10.5.5
Until last week, I was using CS on OS10.4.?
Can anyone tell me if the reason my images no longer update/relink to the correct size in InDesign is an issue with running cronky old CS on Leopard?
I know this feature is an option in CS3 or later but I can find no reference to it for earlier versions and I'm wondering how come it did this in the first place. I never used to have to manually enlarge images back to 100% in InDesign after resizing them (in Photoshop).
I always resize my images down to the size they appear on the page for two reasons: 1) To prevent problems in PDF distilling and 2) To keep archive space usage down.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
Thanks.
S

What is the slide quality? Default setting is Low (8-bit), depending on your JPEG-image quality this may be too low. Try to change to High or Optimized and see if this is better.

• Remote images displayed in email

Hello! Despite the fact that I have "Display remote images in HTML messages" unchecked, about half the time Mail.app displays the image anyway. Has anyone else experienced this, and have you found a cure? I tried searching the forum, but the only hits I came up with were how to make Mail display remote images, not how to prevent it from doing so.
I've tried checking "Display remote images...", closing Mail, reopening Mail, and unchecking "Display remote images..." (thinking it would force a rewrite to the preferences file), but there was no change in behaviour. I also tried moving com.apple.mail.plist out of the way so that a new one was created, but that confused Mail so much that I couldn't open all my old emails so I moved it back. If there is an easy way to recreate com.apple.mail.plist and not lose access to my old emails, I'll try that....
Cheers!

Declan,
I am seeing index files leftover from both Jaguar and Panther periods of use. These can often be problematic, and in this case might explain some random behaviors.
Because your mailboxes, or at least some of them, originated in Panther, and earlier, I want you to read the article at the link below:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301315
This issue of leftover files applies not only to mailboxes you have previously created (which are in the Mailboxes folder the article mentioned) but can also apply to those mailboxes in account folders created prior to the upgrade to Tiger.
Also, please check the size of any remaining mbox files in each folder. It is very important to compare the size of any file named "mbox" with that of the Messages folder. If the mbox is greater in size than the Messages folder, then it means that not all messages were converted to be in the Messages folder. This would likely be most important for any On My Mac mailboxes, as you must have been able to determine most message content was converted.
You should see several benefits from this cleanup.

Sounds like it's a problem with the Acrobat settings. Did you set them to the same resolution?

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

• ADF Hierarchy Viewer does not render remote images

I am using ADF Hierarchy Viewer in my application. I was trying to use a Image component inside one of its nodes. The image works fine if I use the image which is part of my application. If I use a remote image using its URI, it wont render the images. Is there something I am missing
Thanks,

By default, the Flash Player does not allow accessing images located on a domain other then the domain it was
loaded from. You will need to set up a security override file (crossdomain.xml) on your server.
You can Google to find more information on crossdomain.xml file.
Here is one example:

• Why are some emails not displaying remote images

There have been a few threads on similar subjects but I haven't found a solution, or even a reason for the problem I'm seeing.
I've the display remote images option to "on" and in most of my emails images are shown. But for all the messages from one domain no images are ever displayed. The URLs are valid because the images show on my iMac in Thunderbird. On my iPhone I get a placeholder (box) with either a question mark or the "alt" text for the image.
Does anyone have any ideas about what might be causing the problem?

Sent messages moved to the account's Sent mailbox indicates the message was successfully sent by the SMTP server used to send the messages with the account but is no guarantee the message will be accepted by the recipient's incoming mail server.
The recipient's incoming mail server may be incorrectly flagging messages sent by this SMTP server as junk (messages sent via webmail access for the account does not use an SMTP server) and with the large amount of spam being circulated, a return email error message from the recipient's incoming mail server is no longer always provided if the message was not accepted by the recipient's incoming mail server or when flagged as junk by the incoming mail server.
This is not a problem with the Mail application. The recipients reporting this problem need to check with the email account provider for their account.

• Photoshop will not resize images

As of today, PSE will not resize images for me. I typically use PSE for this function and am familiar with it.
I thought it might have been the windows update that occurred last night, so I restored my system earlier, but it does not help. I still can't resize images. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Operating system?
PSE version?
What are the exact steps you're doing?
What are the details of what's happening when you try?

• Mail - remote images are not retained

I don't automatically load remote images in mail. I load them manually using the Load Images button at the top of the message. When i quit mail and relaunch it, the images in that message are gone, and must be loaded again. This happens with all messages i have tried (so it's not just one funky one).
Is this the expected behavior? I would have guessed that once you approve the loading of remote images for a particular message, they would be stored locally with the message and wouldn't have to be loaded again. (i think that's how outlook and entourage function)
thanks.

My experience is that they're cached for some amount of time, but then have to be loaded again.

• When I edit a remote image, it doesn't refresh in DreamWeaver - I have to restart.

Surely there has to be a way around this, but I can't seem to find a refresh button. If I edit an image in PhotoShop and save it to a remote URL, I have to restart DreamWeaver and reopen the file to get the remote image to refresh in the work area. This is a real pain, escpecially when I resize an image. Unless I restart DreamWeaver, I end up working with images that are not showing the proper size after editing them. Is there a feature within DreamWeaver CS4 that would make it refresh the page display?

The Adobe forum lists this question as "Answered".
It quite obviously isn't answered. Is that how Adobe makes itself feel better.
Refresh doesn't work
Recreate site cache doesn't work
Editing the file in Photoshop doesn't work because the "file is not found" probably because the file has been changed. It knows this yet it cant work out that its been changed.
No to F5
No to F12
For those of you that still dont understand the MOST common complaint about Dreamweaver.
1. create html file insert image.jpg, save file and upload file and image.jpg.
You are viewing the "local" version of the file in Design View.
2. open photoshop and get a different image and save it to the same place as image.jpg.
upload new version of image.jpg
viewing the live version of the html file (on the website using a browser) shows the NEW version of image.jpg
Thereis absolutley NO way to make the local view of the file in Design view, show the new image EXCEPT restarting Dreamweaver.
PLEASE prove me wrong.
