If the server is running ssh and you got an account there you could try plink from putty.

How to restart single application server(ABAP Stack)without effecting users
Hi Experts,
I Want to restart one application server(ABAP Stack) in my clustered environment with out effecting endusers. I believe can be done it by transfering users request to other application servers. Please let me know the steps to perform this activity.
Cheers
DVHi,
Yes, you need to wait for the users to disconnect from the app server and remove the server from the logon groups.
You should also remove the batch processes with an operation mode switch.
Beware also if you have HTTP applications and you use a web dispatcehr for load balancing.

Do you have any application which is deployed your manage server? If you say Yes:
There are three ways:
1)If Sun JVM is used, then add:
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms1280m -Xmx1280m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
*** -XX:PermSize and -XX:MaxPermSize should be equal and quarter of -Xmx. (-Xmx should also be equal to -Xms)
If BEA JRockit JVM is used, then add:
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms1280m -Xmx1280m
2) If you still get that error, increase your real memory of system.
3) For last choice, contact with your developer to tune your application. -
Update Planning table but need to restart Web application server
Hi All,
We want to update the process state externally. After updating table, Windows services (Web application server) need to be restarted.
However, the updating operation could be done frequently so that we can get real-time result. How to notify Planning application to refresh its data without restarting services ?
Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.
Edited by: kyhsu on 2009/11/24 下午 10:59Hi,
Planning uses a caching system where it caches the current state of the relational tables. If changes are made in planning then the cache is updated and the tables.
If you update the tables directly the cache will not be updated so planning will still hold its previous state. I don't think there is an easy way round this and there is no simple update cache procedure.
If you do need to update tables directly then the only sure way of clearing the cache is to restart the web app.

Exception/error messages from remotely deploying sun application server 8.2
Hi
I have a solaris network with some servers running sun application server 8.2. When I deploy applications to these application servers (using ant) from a single server connected to them on the netwrok, sometimes exceptions are thrown. What is done now, is the person doing the deploying from the central server, logs onto each server with an appserver and looks through each application servers log file to see if there were any exceptions thrown while deploying apps on that server. What I would like to do is find some way to have those exceptions sent back to the deploying system so that they can show up on the terminal from which the any script was run.
appserver <------------------------- central server running ant -----------------------------------> appserver

appserver appserver appserver
Many appservers getting apps deployed to them through the use of ant. Want to catch any exception thrown by any of the appservers and view on terminal on central server running ant.
Any ideas/thoughts?
Thanks...
MikeThe diagram did not come the way I had hoped. It was suppose to look like the "central server running ant" was pointing to a number of different servers running an appserver.
Thanks for any suggestions...

Database connections in Application Server
Hi
Our application was developed using Oracle 10g Jdeveloper 10.1.2.
We are using Oracle Applicaiton Server 10.1.2 with back end as Oracle 9i.
We have experiencing problems with database connections.
We are using 13 Application Modules (As per Oracle JDev 10g One Application Module corresponds to One Db Connection) and we are using all the App Modules in one page.
Whenever we login to the applications, we access the page and so it opens 13 connections for a session. We did a regression testing for our application. We were able to get to 873 connections, then we began to get application errors and the application quit responding. From the database standpoint, there was no memory issue. We were able to check status, and move through out the database thru Oracle SQL Plus with no response issues. A strange occurrence was that once we began to get errors at that 873 connection point, the connections drop immediately from 873 to 400. We lost about half of our database connections.
We had to restart the application server to remove the database connections the server was holding. Can any one help us to figure out why the connections are dropped immediately and why we get no response error after one pointDid you check the max connections to the database (in combination with the max memory for the container?). Changing these values will change the behaviour.

Oracle Application Server crashes due to Socket Write Error

Websphere Application Server an JDBC Driver errors
We're currently testing the BEA JDBC/SQLServer driver on IBMs websphere Application server and have encountered a couple of problems, which are described below. Has anyone encountered these before, and are there solutions to fixing them.
Problem 1. All JDBC queries through the drivers cause the following error message to be displayed on the application server console:-
#Weblogic -- Applet Access
......Illegal System.exit() attempted
2. We get an intermittent problem where a JDBC query causes the following exception:-
12-Aug-2002 14:08 | [Servlet.Engine.Transports:8] | ERROR | |
User Action: displayParams
Error Message: JVMLK003: current thread not owner
Exception Message: JVMLK003: current thread not owner
java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException: JVMLK003: current thread not owner
at java.lang.Object.notify(Native Method)
at
weblogic.jdbcbase.mssqlserver4.TdsConnection.registerPipeline(TdsConnection.
java(Compiled Code))The only solution to the 2nd problem, that I've found, is to restart the application server.
Are these drivers compatible with IBMs Websphere Application Server v4.0 Advanced?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Andrewplease see my answers inline... I recommend you try the JDBC driver from
Microsoft.

We're currently testing the BEA JDBC/SQLServer driver on IBMs websphereApplication server and have encountered a couple of problems, which are
described below. Has anyone encountered these before, and are there
solutions to fixing them.
>
Problem 1. All JDBC queries through the drivers cause the following errormessage to be displayed on the application server console:-
>
#Weblogic -- Applet Access
......Illegal System.exit() attemptedThis is happening in your application code not in the driver.
>
2. We get an intermittent problem where a JDBC query causes the followingexception:-

User Action: displayParams
Error Message: JVMLK003: current thread not owner
Exception Message: JVMLK003: current thread not owner
java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException: JVMLK003: current thread not
owner
at java.lang.Object.notify(Native Method)
atweblogic.jdbcbase.mssqlserver4.TdsConnection.registerPipeline(TdsConnection.
java(Compiled Code))This sounds more like an IBM JVM issue.

The only solution to the 2nd problem, that I've found, is to restart theapplication server.

Are these drivers compatible with IBMs Websphere Application Server v4.0Advanced?
They are JDBC1.0 compliant drivers and should work with any jdbc app.

Any help would be appreciated.

Steps to execute servlets on Sun Java Application Server
Hi
Could u tell me how to deploy servlets files and how to execute
In specs. the ask us to start cloudscape database server
In my Sun Java Application Server installations, i am not find even a single name as cloudscape
Please anyone guide me get the servelts to execute
thank uWhat specs do you refer to?
Sun Java System Application Server does not include Cloudscape, nor is it required. SJSAS does include a development copy of Pointbase DB Server.
To deploy your servlet application you will need to package them into a WAR file (Web Archive). Then you can either use asadmin CLI or the admin gui to deploy the WAR. The steps are included here: http://docs.sun.com/source/816-7150-10/dwdeploy.html
Now I'm going to assume you application uses Cloudscape. To get that piece running you will need to download and install Cloudscape. You will also need the JDBC drivers for Cloudscape. Copy the JDBC driver jar file to either the <serverinstancedir>/lib directory or modify the JVM settings to include that jar file. Restart the Application Server. You will also need to add a JDBC Resource & Connection Pool. In the admin, create a new connection pool (probably called Cloudscape). Use the appropriate settings for classname and add any additional properties that are necessary (Usually URL, User, Password). Now create a JDBC Resource using that Connection Pool. Make sure the JNDI name matches what your application expects.
Now just access the URL for the application

OCS + Oracle Application Server sharring same db and infra
Hi all,
I would like to install Oracle Collaboration Suite in the same machine where runs my Oracla Application server.
The mais ideia is to share the same infrastructure and database from AS to Oracle Collaboration Suite.
Can I do it ?
I'm asking 'cause when I'm trying install collaboration suite to use a existing database as an OCS' repository Oracle Installer gives me a message like this:
"Oracle Home you have specified is not a Oracle10g 10.1.0.4.2 version and cannot be configured into an Oracle Collaboration Suite Database"Hello,
You shoul read the manual of OCS, but in my opinion you should not share the same database, due management issues.
If you need to do some administration in the OCS with implies a database restart, your application server will be unavaiable as well.
So the best thing is to have diferent DB's to application server and to OCS, and with the right hardware you can have the 2 instances in the same server. You just need to set up the oracle listeners to diferent TCP/IP ports.

Oracle 10g Application Server Stand By Creation
Hi all ,
I am newbe for oracle 10g application server . I need to know that how to create stand by applicattion server and how to make the report server name same as production server so that in case of emergency i can quickly shift on stand by.What we did was build the second server and powered it down. If our main data server loses power we start it up. The two servers are never up at the same time.
To change the report name :
1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
[oracle@tasias02 emd]$ pwd
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
i.e. Replace rep_old with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_old.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_new.conf
run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_new (change rep_new to new report server name)
3.Update the changed configuration .
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
In the file:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from "rep_old" to "rep_new" (change rep_new to new report server name)

Application Server cannot start after restart
Dear all,
I have a database cluster with SAP CI running on 2 servers(on SAN), plus 4 applications.
Today we have restarted all the servers, and found that only 1 server with database server and application server (w/CI) can start. All other applications servers cannot start, and in SAP Management Console, it does not show the SAP Instance.
Another problem is that the database cluster cannot move to another server, with error:
"initerrlog: Could not open error log file 'M:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG'. Operating system error = 3(The system cannot find the path specified.)."
Can anyone provide any assistant? Many thanks!
Regards,
DanielHi Yaroslav,
