Remove an End Node(leaf) in an XML Document

I have an object type node, where each one was one object
type node, which can contain one object type node etc. I need to
remove the last item, and return the new xml document see the
example, any ideas?
<menuItem id="itemID" graphic="" name="test01"
text="test01">
<menuItem id="itemID" graphic="" name="test01"
text="test01">
<menuItem id="itemID" graphic="" name="test01"
text="test01" >
<menuItem id="itemID" graphic="" name="test01"
text="test01" >
</menuItem>
</menuItem>
</menuItem>
</menuItem>
Thanks,
Chester

    The views use XPath expressions and functions such as extractValue() to define the mapping between columns in the view and nodes in the XML document. The following view is created on purchase order schema.

    When we register XML Schema in Oracle 9i, the schema elements of XML documents are stored as XMLType, that is, stored using object-relational storage techniques.
    For a small schema, we could build the above view manually, but for large/nested schema, if we have query to build XML documents node list, it will help us to build Relational Views on XML Content.
    How do we extract the nodes of any given XML document through O-R structures or XML DB using XML DB functions?
    Any alternate thoughts are welcome.
    I appreciate your help.

    Once again, I do not think that you can solve the problem you are trying to solve. Fundamentally you need to determine for a given element of a given complex type what are it's child elements. For each of those elements you then need to find out whether or not it in turn has child elements...
    Then you have to think about elements defined as ref rather than type, elements that are substituteable, and the rest of possibilities that can be described with XML Schema.
    If you can solve that problem you're a better man than I as the saying goes. Anyone rather than give you a fish, I'll show you how to at least put a worm on the hook..
    The following query gets the names of the elements inside a each of the global complex types

  • Getting Node Value of an XML document in JAVA.

    Hi,
    In my application, I have got the exact node that I want by parsing the document, but the node value returned is null as the node is an element and the Java Documentation does specify that it will return null. I would like to know if there in any alternative way by which I can parse the document and get the specified value of the node or element. Kindly Help.

    Well, there are not many mind readers on this forum.
    You do not tell us how you are parsing the document, and so it is difficult determining why the node value is returned as a null.
    There are two main styles of processing XML -- DOM and SAX. Dom (and its variants JDom and I think Dom4J) build a tree structure that is memory-resident. There are ways to walk up and down the tree, and locate arbitrary nodes in the tree.
    The other style is SAX, which is much less intensive from a memroy perspective, but puts more work on you to keep what you want as the data goes flying by.
    So, how are you "parsing the document" and what method is returning a null? That may give someone enough information to guess at your problem.

  • How to remove xmlns in node level

    Hi Experts!
    How to remove xmlns in node level in response xml file. I tried to use AF_Modules/XMLAnonymizerBean, but it did not work.
    Can you please help me out on this.
    I want to remvoe  xmlns tag in LEVICOM
    Eg:
    - <Addenda>
       - <LEVICOM xmlns="">
    Thanks,
    Hari

    Hi Expers!
    Please help me out on this. The below xslt mapping working only to remove xmlns prefix in xml file, if parent having only one child. This code is not working if parent having multiple childs.
    Eg:  <parent>
               <phild  xmlns="">
                 test1
                </phild>
            </parent>
    The above example working fine with below xslt mapping to remove xmlns tag.
    Second scenarion  not working
    Eg:  <parent>
              <child1  xmlns="">
                 test1
              </child1>
              <child2  xmlns="">
                  test2
               </child2>
            </parent>
    The above example is not working.
    Here is the code:
    You can remove the namespace prefixes using an XSLT mapping if they are causing problems with applications outside of XI.
    Try the following code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"
    xmlns="http://www.arconw.com/XI/XSLT_Library/XmlNamespacePrefixRemoval"
    version="1.0">
    <xsl:output method = "xml" />
    <xsl:template match="/">
    <xsl:apply-templates select="*" mode="remprefix"/>
    </xsl:template>
    <xsl:template match="*" mode="remprefix">
    <xsl:variable name="newname" select="local-name(.)"/>
    <xsl:element name="{$newname}" namespace ="{namespace-uri()}">
    <xsl:apply-templates mode="copyall" select="@*|comment()|processing-instruction()|text()"/>
    <xsl:apply-templates select="*" mode="remprefix"/>
    </xsl:element>
    </xsl:template>
    <xsl:template mode="copyall" match="@*|comment()|processing-instruction()|text()">
    <xsl:copy>
    <xsl:apply-templates mode="copyall" select="@*|comment()|processing-instruction()|text()"/>
    </xsl:copy>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>

  • Updating a XML document with a processing instruction

    Greetings Guru's
    I have a fully functional XML database solution for our new system. The only thing left is for me to update a xml document in the database with a processing instruction to find the style sheet (JAXB strips it out when the XML must go back into the database).
    I can update complete nodes and node elements in the xml document using updateXML in a regular update statement, but I do not know how to add the following processing instruction to my documents.

  • XPath query on multiple namespace XML document

    Hi,
    I am trying to locate an element in a WordML XML document using XPath.
    The structure looks like:
    <w:body>
         <wx:sect>
              <aml:annotation aml:id="0" w:type="Word.Bookmark.Start" w:name="DOC0000966"/>
    ...So I use the following expression "/wordDocument//body/sect" wich gives me a list with the <w:sect> nodes.
    Then I search for "annotation[@type='Word.Bookmark.Start']" starting from each <w:sect> node. This yields the <aml:annotation> elem.
    So far so good.
    Now I have to handle a second case as well.
    <w:body>
         <wx:sect>
         <w:p>
              <aml:annotation aml:id="0" w:type="Word.Bookmark.Start" w:name="DOC0000966"/>
    ...As you can see the <aml:annotation> is nested inside a <w:p> elem.
    My intention was to use the expression "//annotation[@type='Word.Bookmark.Start']"to handle both cases, but this expression does not match neither.
    I have tried several different alternatives with expressions and NamingContext implementations, none working.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mariano.

    Hello,
    I decided to remove all namespaces and prefixes from the XML document and now the expression works.
    I have chaned the following:
    DocumentBuilderFactory is now namespace aware (it isn't by default).
              DocumentBuilderFactory builderFactory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
              builderFactory.setNamespaceAware(true);I picked this NamespaceContext implementation from JAXP 1.4 samples and mapped all prefixes and namespaces coming inside the XML.
              NamespaceContextImpl ns = new NamespaceContextImpl();
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("aml", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/aml/2001/core");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("dt", "uuid:C2F41010-65B3-11d1-A29F-00AA00C1488");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("o", "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("sl", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/schemaLibrary/2003/core");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("v", "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("w", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/word/2003/wordml");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("w10", "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word");
              ns.bindPrefixToNamespaceURI("wx", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/word/2003/auxHint");
              XPathFactory xpathFactory = XPathFactory.newInstance();
              XPath xpath = xpathFactory.newXPath();
              xpath.setNamespaceContext(ns);Finally, I prefixed all elements in xpath expressions.
    "//aml:annotation[@w:type='Word.Bookmark.Start']"Happier now,
    Mariano.

  • -error in XML document- when migrating from BPEL 10.1.3.3 to 10.1.3.4

    Hi,
    I've just been handed as set of BPEL processes which were developed in 10.1.3.3 and I'm working on migrating them to 10.1.3.4.
    Migration of most processes was straight forward, however, there is one process (SendMessage) that accepts an XML document as its input. The message payload is successfully sent in the older version, however, in version 10.1.3.4, I keep on getting the following error.
    Server was unable to read request. ---> There is an error in XML document (195, 99). ---> Input string was not in a correct format.
    The line number is the end line number of the xml document message.
    I've checked both versions and in 10.1.3.3 the ValidateXML option is set to false, whereas in 10.1.3.4 its 'none', which is equivalent to false.
    Are there any other settings in 10.1.3.4 that could be causing this error? Has anyone else come across this issue when migrating upgwards from 10.1.3.3?
    I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
    Kind regards,
    Shiraz

    I had recently done the same migration. One of the issues I had faced was while specifying the nillable elements I used to get an error if the namespace definition was in the header. The error was occuring while sending the message to AQ.
    I do not know if this will help. Also it would be useful if you could provide details of where the process is failing is it failing at the receive activty or later. What does the process do....
    Best of luck with the problem.

  • How to remove a node from a target xml payload in reciever file channel

    i have a scenario where i have to remove a node from my target xml file in receiver file channel and want xml as the output file. I don't want a fixed length file. How to do that in receiver channel? Do we need to use file content conversion for that?

    that will result in giving you a fixed file or a separator defined file.
    it will not give you an XML file.
    In case you want a XML file, instead of using variable substitution, use Dynamic configuration and adapter specific properties.

  • How to remove parent nodes in an output XML?

    Hi! I'm having a problem as to removing a parent node in an xml output. The scenario goes like this, I have a source IDOC and two target External Definitions. When I have declared the two External Definitions, XI inserted a structure in the output xml as shown below:
    Messages        (1..1)
              Message1       (1..1)
                 Message1Header    (0..1)
              Message2       (1..1)
                 Message2Header    (0..1)
    Is there anyway to have an output that looks just like this (without their respective parent nodes)?
    a.) Message1Header  (0..1)
    or
    b.) Message2Header  (0..1)
    Please help
    Regards,
    Mark

    Since you have two External Definitions and you are using both in on mapping hence your scenario becomes 1:N mapping scenario and this is the reason you are getting the additional nodes in your mapping.
    so if your requirement is 1:N then whatever you are getting is correct, you can refer the below mentioned blog for help on this, But if you don't want the additonal nodes then you have to create TWO different mappings and used the external definitions seprately in each mapping.

  • Problem replacing Null nodes with real values in XML documents...

    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production
    Our friends in Java land are insisting on passing data between Java and PL/SQL using fairly small XML documents (don't ask). I then need to extract the input parameter values and pass them, on to the stored procedures that actually do the work. These return a result which needs to be returned to the java layer in the output XML document.
    Here is a cut down version of the input XML...
    <ParameterList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <Parameter>
    <Id>1</Id>
    <Result xsi:nil="true"/>
    </Parameter>
    <Parameter>
    <Id>2</Id>
    <Result xsi:nil="true"/>
    </Parameter>
    </ParameterList>
    and this is an example of what I am expected to return...
    <ParameterList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <Parameter>
    <Id>1</Id>
    *<Result>SUCCESS</Result>*
    </Parameter>
    <Parameter>
    <Id>2</Id>
    *<Result>WARNING</Result>*
    </Parameter>
    </ParameterList>
    i.e. I am expected to replace the value of the Result node with a string indicating the succes or otherwise of the underlying PL/SQL process.
    I am extracting the input values using the DBMS_XMLDOM functions and naively assumed that DBMS_XMLDOM.SETNODEVALUE could be used to update the value in the Result node - It didn't work so I resorted to reading the documentation which revealed that it will not work for a null node.
    Am I going to have to use XSLT to generate the output XML from the Input and incorprate the result? Or is there a simpler way?
    I have used XSLT in Oracle before and still have the nervous tick...

    One question, why do the dbms_xmldom functions return the Old value? I was expecting the returned value to be the updated node.

  • How to delete a node in an XML document

    Hi,
    My flex plugin loads an XML document that is passed in from
    the ExternalInterace. I have a List control that displays data from
    this XML document.
    The XML looks like:
    <document>
    <response>
    <objectlist>
    <list type="typeValue">
    <object type="typeValue" name="Name Value" id="GUID
    Value1">
    <params>
    <params>
    </object>
    <!-- more objects in this list -->
    </list>
    </objectlist>
    </response>
    </document>
    I set the list dataProvider to
    xmlDoc.response.objectlist.list.object
    Thing is, I want to remove one of the object nodes before I
    display the data (that is, i dont want one of the nodes in the XML
    document to appear in the list).
    How do I do this? I could not find any way to delete an
    existing node in the XML api.
    -Gaurav

    You can either use the "delete" operator:
    delete xmlDoc.response.objectlist.list.object[5]
    where the object to be deleted might be the fifth down
    (you'll have to play with your xml in debug to get the actual
    values down) or convert to xmlListCollection. The xmlListCollection
    provides easy methods to remove the offending nodes or you may
    provide a filterFunction for the collection which will "hide" the
    node.

  • Need to chart attribute value of just one child node of XML document

    I have a XML document with (for example) 7 parent nodes, each
    parent node has 5 child nodes. The parent nodes have an attribute
    @EarlierDTS (DateTime type) that is the x-axis category of a chart.
    Each child node has an attribute @eventid which specifies the id of
    the event, and another atttribute @NumOccurs which specifies how
    many times that event occured in that period.
    How do I tell Flex I want a simple line chart of the eventID
    = 215? What if I want two lines, for both eventID=215 and
    eventid=307?
    I have studied the posts and blogs for over a week now, and
    have seen this question or similar come up quite a few places, with
    no answer.
    1) Should I focus on learning how to create a filterfunction
    for the XMLList that underlies my XMLListCollection so that the
    filtered data view is just one child node per parent node ( or two
    child nodes for the second case)? And set the filtered data view as
    the dataprovider of my chart's vertical series?
    2) Should I focus on learning how to create a XML Filter
    query that selects just one or two child nodes for each parent
    node, and set the charts' series' dataprovider to this filter
    expression? (I don't think this is allowed - but I'm checking with
    the forum members...)
    3) Should I focus on learning how to convert the
    XMLListCollection into a HierarchicalData object, and then learning
    how to filter this object so there is only one (or two) childs per
    parent? This seems like a lot of coding - I almost have to create a
    pair of classes - one for the parent and one for the child - so I
    can create nested ArrayObjects.
    4) Should I create a brand new XMLList by walking the
    original XML list, and inserting Parent nodes and just the child
    nodes that match the eventID(s) I want to chart, into the new
    XMLList?
    I believe that the easiest way would be to create a
    Filterfunction for the XMLList, and bind the chart series to the
    (filtered) XML List. But the problem with this approach is that I
    have seen more than 2 posts asking how to accomplish filtering that
    removes specific children from the view, with no solutions posted.
    Help! What is the best way to get just one child for each
    parent, from an XMLList?

    I'd just look at a dataFunction. There's an example here that
    may point you
    in the right direction:

  • Preferences.removeNode() doesn't actually remove the preference node

    I have the following method in a class I use to modify system preferences:
        public boolean removePreferenceNode (String nodePath)
            throws BackingStoreException {
            // get the preferences node specified by the node path
            Preferences node = preferences.node(nodePath);
            if (node != null) {
                // remove the node and persist the change
                node.removeNode();
                node.flush();
                // success
                return true;
            // the preference node referenced by the node path was never found
            return false;
        }This code appears to work fine (the return value is always true when I provide a valid node path), but when I run it and then look at the preferences under $JAVA_HOME/jre/.systemPrefs I still see the node in the prefs.xml. This is happening regardless of whether the program that uses the prefs is running or not. I get the same behavior on a Windows machine when I view the preferences using regedit.
    Can someone please tell me what I'm missing here? Thanks in advance for your help.

    The thread you’re referring to discusses POP account issues, but it looks like you’ve set up your .Mac account as type .Mac or IMAP (.Mac is basically the same as IMAP). The Remove copy from server setting that the OP was talking about in the other thread does not even exist if the account is set up as .Mac or IMAP, so there is no way you may have done everything described there...
    the mail still sits on the .Mac server.
    And it will remain there as long as you keep it in Mail’s Inbox, because that’s precisely how IMAP works. What you see in Mail is what’s on the server. It will be removed from the server as soon as you move it out of the Inbox in Mail (and vice versa), which, interestingly enough, is precisely what the OP in the other thread wanted to do with his POP account.
    I checked the iMail preferences and .Mac webmail preferences
    and unchecked all possible "leave messages on server" buttons.
    Those settings have absolutely no effect on the Inbox. Inbox is always stored remotely on the server for IMAP accounts and that cannot be changed. If that’s not what you want, what you really want is probably to set up your .Mac account as POP:
    What is POP mail?
    What is IMAP mail?
    .Mac Mail Help: POP or IMAP?
    Changing .Mac Mail from IMAP to POP
    Before doing what the last article suggest to change the .Mac account to POP, I encourage you to quit Mail and make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
