Remove Dummy cost centers from OKB9

Hi,
Does anybody know if removing dummy cost centers from OKB9 can generate huge impact ?
Which examples of issues can I have in case I remove them?

Automatic assignment occurs during postings in external accounting  (within the FI, MM, or SD components) if you did not enter a CO account assignment object (cost center, order, or project) for a cost accounting relevant posting.
Given the above quotes from SAP. We need to analyse why the default cost center was givenin OKB9 at the first instance. If it really makes sense to have the default cost center, then it is better. If default cost center is causing lot of work at the period end, then it may better to take it off. This way you can ensure that cost are booked in the right cost center at the first time of recording.
The first impact will be, the system will not let you post the transaction as before, since a cost object is mandatory for flow of FI documents to CO.

    No. If you used any upload tools like LSMW, perhaps you may use that for uploading the second controlling area.

    Can some one please let me know how to send the cost centers created in one system to other ssytem,
    my requirement is sending cost centers from one sytem to other system:

  • Transferring the cost centers from ECC to Sourcing

    Hello Experts
    I have a requirement to synchronize cost centers between ECC and Sourcing systems . . The approach I am thinking is-
         Schedule a import job in sap sourcing which will be pointed to FTP and can import data.
         ECC will  trigger the XML data from  for any change / creation of cost centers .
         This data will come to FTP and from there this would be imported by Sourcing .
    Can anyone let me know if there is any particular XML format for Cost centers for  importing to Sourcing ?

    Hi Sudipta,
    If Cost Center data extracted from ECC is rendered in CSV format, then XML file may not be required for the import job.
    The CSV file format should be available in the Enterprise/Company workbook.

  • How to  handle blocked cost centers from Payroll to FI (RPCIPE00)

    We have the need to do retro payroll adjustments - the problem is that many times the original cost centers are blocked.  This causes errors in the feed to finance via program (RPCIPE00).  How can we avoid this error?  We have considered using payroll substitution - but we understand that this will not send just the adjustment amount to the substituted cost center - but in effect create a transaction reversing all of the original transaction and then repost.
    Has anyone tried an enhancement point in RPCIPE00 to try to address this problem?  Any other suggestions?
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    The salary is sent to GL and charge payroll account XXXXX
    When you import the employee time to Projects, you will distribute the expenditures. Verify you set up the auto accounting rules so the project labor costs will debit the project cost account on GL and credit the payroll account XXXXX.
    At the end of each period you will see that the employee salary was allocated to the projects.
    If the labor rate you use are not accurate, you will see that payroll account XXXXX is not totally offset. Remaining balance of account XXXXX has not been absorbed in project costs. Depending on the significance of the residuals, you may consider updating the labor rate and recosting.

  • Changing approver for home cost centers from manager to cost center owner

    Hello,
    Our CfTE system is functioning as follows: "If traveler belongs to home cost center then the expenses are not sent to cost center owner, instead they are sent to travelers manager".
    I guess this is setup to prevent fraud and the ability to authorize your own expenses.
    Anyway, is it possible to change this to always the cost center owner approving the expenses, regardless of home cost center or not?

    No, this is not defined in the Business Configuration. The admin-user needs to have the WoC 'Application and Usermnagement' and there go to view 'Approval Processes', here you can copy the exitiong approval process defintion and create a new one. The new one needs to be set to active then. For detailed docuemntation and how-to change the approval process defintion, please check the help center about 'Approval' in your system.

  • Remove Coste Center from Account

    Hi Experts,
    Can you tell how i can remove an assignated account GL from cost center.
    The case is this, we have an account (P&L) who has registration to cost center, but now, we dont like to do this
    The case is as follows. Until now the GL account (P&L) )was charged to a cost center. But from now we do not want this. We can remove the asigancion's of this account to the cost center?

    Generally you made account assignment through cost element master or OKB9. If you want to delete the account assignment delete in the OKB9 matrix as cost element mster is not possible as some values are already posted.
    solution for the problem
    remove the account assignment from OKB9 and change the field status group for particular gl account cost center make it mandatory if not done already so that your value from now onwards posted  to the different cost center which you are going to enter in the transaction.
    If you don't want use that particular cost center, change the description as not use or use personalised settings.  Because this type problem we have faced.

    Seniors
    User Created one GL (P&L a/c group) as cost element  mistakenly.
    That is the reason now when ever they are doing Delivery , billing system asking cost object.
    We have 6 business areas.
    Assign each business area wise , different Dummy cost center in OKB9
    Is suggestible?

  • User Ids Corresponding to particular cost centers

    Hi Experts,
    We have few cost centres which are BLOCKED now.
    We need to find out the Users having these cost centres in their attribute and ultimately remove theses BLOCKED cost centers from those Usre's attribute.
    Is there any way / Table / Function module etc, by  we can find out Which Cost center has access to Which users?

    cost center blocking can be done only in ECC system only.
    but in SRM at attribute wise at position level / or root level you can make EXCLUSIVE so that this cost center will not be available for those dept or at their position level.

    If this is the followup of the previous post (responsible person) and you wanted to get a list of cost centers based on that using a FM , i doubt that there is a FM available for that. You have to read the table to get the info.
    When you say manager, he could be a manager for a HR organisation but the cost organization may be different. in a typical set up it would be a cost center group (which will have set of cost centers under it) and this will be linked to a hr organization.
    All this is purely based on how cost center hierarchy (standard hierarchy) and hr organization maintained and how they are linked.

  • ALE Link for cost centers

    Hi,
    I need to send the cost centers from one system to another. I want to use BD16 (IDOC) for the same but both these systems have different controlling area. BD16 works only when both the sender and receiver have same controlling area.
    Can you please suggest me how can I still transfer the cost center to another system which has different controlling area?

    Hi,
    Based on your post, I think you should have the INBOUND IDOC configuration in the legacy system done.
    My suggestion is:
    1. Find the process code for the INBOUND IDOC, there should be a FM binded with this process code
    2. Usually, SAP INBOUND IDOC FM will have enhancement in side, in other word, user exits
    3. Once you found the exits, you may implement the code to switch the controlling area to the right one
    On the other hand, considering the cost centers are master data, you may try the change pointers.
    As I remember, there are some convertion rules you could set up.

  • BAPI_COSTCENTERGROUP_CREATE not adding Cost centers to group

    Hello,
    I am using BAPI_COSTCENTERGROUP_CREATE to add/delete Cost Centers from a group by passing Controlling Area, Group name and Cost centers in HIERARCHYVALUES table.
    Though the BAPI successfully deletes existing Cost centers from the group, while adding, it gives error message that 'This function is not allowed in the standard hierarchy'
    If anyone has worked with this BAPI before or faced a similar error, kindly revert.

  • Cost Centers Date

    Dear Experts;
    The FI consultant has created the cost centers with the Go Live date, and as you know the employees are hired from a previous period, so I have to create the positions with the hiring date.
    So I've created the positions with starting date 01.01.1990, while the cost ceneters are from 01.07.2011, so whenever i'm trying to assign a cost center to a postion it gives me a msg stating that the cost center doesn't exist with that period.
    And there is no option for the FI to change the cost centers date, he just has to delete the current ones and create new ones with another date.
    Do you ahve another solution for that?

    Hi Lobhna,
    As a practice positions and cost center should have the same date if position date is go-live date then it would have been fine.
    To avoid this issue all employees are hired in 9999999 default position and before Go-live there is an action Named as Go-live data upload where the actual positions of the person are assigned from the date of Go-live.
    One is hiring action with D.O.J of employee and then another action Go-live data upload which sets a cut-off date for Masterdata that all masterdata will be valid from the Go-live date onwards.
    In your case if you have already done the Hiring action with actual position, then ask FI if he can delete and re-create the cost centers from date of Go-live and if not then you can delete the  assignement of the position with the person in po13, you can do this through LSMW or BDC. After deleting assignment you have to delete the positions through PO13 LSMW.
    Then Re-create the positions again with the Go-live date and assign to Person.
    All this through LSMW PO13.

    Hi ,
    You can even transport Master Data from Development Server to Quality and Production Servers. The transaction code to do it is OKE6  But you need to excersise lots of cautions to do this. The following note explains that -
    Caution
    If, prior to the transport, you have already created master data in the target system (whether manually or through a different transport), this data is lost when the transport takes place.
    Since in the target system the master data but not the transaction data is deleted, transporting data into a system that already contains data can lead to inconsistencies. You should therefore maintain the master data in the target system manually.
    Example
    You have manually created cost centers in controlling area 0001 in the target system. You want to transport cost centers in controlling area 0001 from the Customizing clients into the target system.
    If you execute the transport, the system deletes the manually-created cost centers in the target system.
    The system then imports the new cost centers into the target system.
    In a normal scenario , it is best to avoid taking this route and upload the master data instead of transporting it .
