Remove prefix at the end?

I'm using apple scripts with Automator to remove prefix from files. How can I remove prefix at the end? For example, the file name is test01.mov. I want it to be test.mov
I have found this script but this script works in front. I'm not I programmer and I can't make any sense of the script.. Can any one help me out?! Thanks!
repeat with thisFile in input
                    tell application "Finder"
                              set fileName to name of (thisFile as alias)
                              set fileName to (do shell script "echo " & quoted form of fileName & " | sed 's/^[0-9]*//'")
                              set name of thisFile to fileName
                    end tell
          end repeat

I can't help with Automator or scripts, but clarifying your question -
A 'prefix at the end' is called a suffix. By definition, a prefix can only be at the beginning of something.
And, I think you want to remove something from the end of the file's name (the filename) rather than from the file itself.

  • Possible to remove .html at the end of my address?

    The only reason I need to do this is because I shot an event Friday night and gave out a bunch of cards to people with my web address on it, and I didn't put .html afterward.
    So now, when you type in the address, you get an error. I created a page in iWeb for the event with info about ordering and pricing and a link to the gallery. I notice that many other sites, including Apple, don't have .html at the end of their page address.
    Might be a stupid question, but I've poured over the forum for an answer but to no avail.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Boise Jim,
    .html is part of the page name just like your photos are probably named .jpg - it tells what type of file it is. iWebFAQ has some convoluted method on his site for removing the .html from all of your pages, but you know how I feel about that site...
    Here's another "fast fix" for you.
    Say your page is called "event.html"
    Create a folder and call it "event"
    Create a text file with the following contents:
    <html><title>Title of page</title><head><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.playoflightimages.com/event.html"></head><body>You will be redirected shortly... (or some other message you want it to say)</body></html>
    Save the file as "index.html" and put it in the folder "event"
    Upload the folder containing index.html to your server.
    Now when people visit http://www.playoflightimages.com/event they will be redirected to http://www.playoflightimages.com/event.html

  • Is it possible to remove hyphens at the end of a line separating parts of a word? Thank you

    Hi there,
    I was wondering, Indesign automatically adds hyphens at the end of a line to join one part of the word with the next part (on the next line). Is there any way to get rid of this in my entire document so that indesign automatically puts the word on the next line rather than separating it with a hyphen? I've been going through it manually and correcting it but it's taking many hours.
    Let me know if it's not clear what I'm saying
    Many thanks

    Ouch!  What you need to do is turn "hyphenating" off.  Select all your text and do it in the control panel like this:
    You can also turn it off before you start in the paragraph panel, or by turning it off with no documents open make it off by default.

  • How to remove ^M at the end of lines?

    Hi,
    A war file is created in Windows xp. If I deployed it on Solaris + Tomcat 5.0.28, I can see ^M following each line in apps.xml and web.xml, of course, the application doesn't work properly.
    In windows xp, I used command: jar -cf myapp.war *.*, then deploy it thru Tomcat Web Application Manager.
    How can I fix the annoying ^M?
    Thanks in advance.
    Wolf

    The ^M happens because the source files are created using Windows line termination. The best way to keep this from happening is to edit your XML files in an editor that lets you choose what type of line termination to use. I use TextPad, which is great.

  • Replace Function removing Zero from the end.

    Hi ALL,
    I'm runing following query
    select REPLACE(52000.50,'.') from dualwhich is giving me output as
    *520005*
    But I need last zero also in the output. like *5200050*
    Please help me if you have any solution.

    select REPLACE(to_char('52000.50','999999.99'),'.') from dual Edited by: user2988171 on Jul 30, 2010 4:38 PMYou broke it again.
    If you have a string and not a number right from the beginning then there is no reason to use TO_CHAR.
    Simply run
    select REPLACE('52000.50','.') from dual;Or use the correct version from Toon if you enter a number value.
    Btw. If it is a number you could also simply muliply it by 100.
    select 52000.50 * 100 from dual;Edited by: Sven W. on Jul 30, 2010 2:58 PM

  • Remove path at the end/beginning of every page

    We have Acrobat X Pro and are creating PDFs from XML. However, whenever we do this, the doc path is appearing in its entirety at every page break. I have searched all over the web and changed all the Create PDF from Web page settings that I can find to not include header/footers/bookmarks, but every time we create a pdf, there the path is again. On. Every. Single. Page.
    How do we create PDFs without having to manually delete each path reference?
    Thanks!

    It sounds like both are done from IE I am guessing and not from within Acrobat. For the Create PDF option, you need to check under the Create PDF preferences in IE. For the printing, you need to check the print options of your browser, it is not a function of Acrobat in that case. What you get with the print is the same you would get to paper and those settings are part of the browser.
    If you were using the create from web page in Acrobat, then select the settings on the menu and turn off the header and footer, just as if you were using a browser to print.

    Dennis - i just finished my audition trial and bought the subscription the 2014 version.

    DURIM - Okay.  I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
    If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]?  We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
    Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro?  If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
    I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. I appreciate any help you can give me to get this audition program started

  • How do I remove the (-signed) which Adobe adds to the end of the document name after having signed it?

    Hi there,
    How do I remove the (-signed) which Adobe adds to the end of the document name after having signed it?
    It is not convenient to remove it every time I sign a document. So, is there a way to turn this off?
    Thank you

    I think you cannot, because for many people it is so important to keep the unsigned document, and most do not realise this until it is too late.

  • Removing punctuation from the beginning and end of a string

    I am working on a project for a "spell checking" program. So far the StringHash class is made, and the dictionary is read into a hash table. Then the document to be checked is specified via command line, the document scans through each word and checks to see if it is in the dictionary, if it is do nothing, if it is not then display it to console. The problem I am having is with a method in the main class. The method (I will post what I have so far) is called removePunct. The method should remove any punctuation from the beginning and the end of the string, nothing from the middle. Here is what I have so far:
    public static String removePunct(String word){
              StringBuilder wo = new StringBuilder(word);
              int x = (word.length()-1);
              if(!Character.isLetter(wo.charAt(0)))
                   wo.deleteCharAt(0);
              if(!Character.isLetter(wo.charAt(x)))
                   wo.deleteCharAt(x);
              return wo.toString();
    Any help would be much appreciated, I'm pretty certain the solution is either something completely different, or something so simple that I just missed it.

    The easiest way to do this is to just show you the actual file to be spell checked:
    -- outline --
    This directory contains Bison skeletons: the general shapes of the
    different parser kinds, that are specialized for specific grammars by
    the bison program.
    Currently, there are only three supported skeletons:
    - yacc.c
    It used to be named bison.simple: it corresponds to C Yacc
    compatible LALR(1) parsers.
    - lalr1.cc
    Produces a C++ parser class. It is still very experimental, and not
    yet supported. Please, subscribe to [email protected].
    - glr.c
    A Generalized LR C parser based on Bison's LALR(1) tables.
    These skeletons are the only ones supported by the Bison team.
    Because the interface between skeletons and the bison program is not
    finished, we are not bound to it. In particular, Bison is not
    mature enough for us to consider that ``foreign skeletons'' are
    supported.

    What I need the spell checker to do is read each word, and strip any beginning or ending punctuation, e.g. (c) would become c. Pretty much punctuation consists of anything that is not a letter, hence the use of isLetter. I can easily modify the method to remove all punctuation using regular expressions, but I only want the beginning and end characters removed.
    Example of words:
    -yacc.c would become yacc.c and is not in the dictionary so it would be printed.

  • PI removing blank spaces at the end of the lines in a plain text file

    Hi -
    I have an interface that transfers a file via FTP. I defined both the sender and receiver to transfer either Text or Binary but the interface removes every blank space I have after the last character. The file is a fixed lenght file.
    Example:
    Original file:
    Hello world(space)(space)(space)(space)(space)(space)(space)(space)(eol)
    where (space) is the space character and (eol) is the end of line char.
    File after it is received.
    Hello world(eol)
    I already defined the parameter Row.fieldFixedLenghts with 10164 which is the lenght of the lines of the file.
    Any ideas why it may be happening?
    Thanks,
    Carlos.

    Hi -
    I tried both the parameters:
    xml.fieldContentFormatting
    structure.fieldContentFormatting
    The received file still has the problem. All the blank spaces are cleared out.
    The file is a plain text file not an XML file. May this be the issue?
    Thanks,
    Carlos.

  • Remove Line feed at the end of the file while using file adapter

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement. We are sending a file from SAP to FTP using file adapter. we are successful in sending the file to FTP but at the end of the file a extra blank line is created .
    Can anyone please suggest how to remove the extra line feed at the end of the file.
    Thanks and Regards,
    LRK.

    check this:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/181077dd7d6b4ea6a8029b20bf7e55/frameset.htm
    To define an additional string as a separator after the last column in a row, specify it here. The system skips this string when it processes the last column (otherwise the system would treat it as part of the last column).
    Also there are solved threads which deal with same problem....you can even check them out...

  • How to remove the blank lines at the end of the JTextArea .

    Hi,
    I need to remove the blank lines in the JTextArea at the end. Suppose i am giving 'A' in the first line and press the enter key two times, after i am giving the 'B' in the third line and press enter key for two times. I need to remove, the last two lines of JTextAreae, . How i can remove these lines?

    String#trim() removes all whitespace from both ends of the String.
    The requirement was to remove line breaks from the end of the String only.
    String#replaceAll with a suitable regex would do the trick. Untested regex for this:text.replaceAll("[\\n\\r]+$", "")db

  • How to remove trailing space at the end of a song.

    This is related to this thread: Shorten song length (remove trailing bars) in Garageband 10.0.1
    I have also done some Googling and have found some links related to selecting and exporting regions, which I have tried, but this is what I noticed.
    It does not work when I select certain instruments, eg Synthesizer - Soundscape - Subtle Shiftscape or Synthesizer - Lead - Screamlead. I believe that what is happening is that those sounds tend to have some additional length to it. No matter where I cut my region, the additional length still get added. I don't have that problem if I don't select those instruments.
    Anybody has any ideas?

    Are you using GB 10.0.2 as well?
    I am using both - GarageBand 10.0.2 and GarageBand '11.
    And if I deselect all regions, File - Add Region to loop library is of course greyed out. Is it possible to save multiple tracks as a loop?
    No.
    Yep, I've deselected all regions. Still no luck.
    My answer above was in answer to your "This time GB felt I only needed the first 4 measures of the song, even though I defined an entire Region over the length of the song and selected everything with Ctrl-A..."
    You should be able to export the complete song, if you deselect all regions, and select all of the song using the cycle region with "Export Cycle region only" enabled, or with "Export Cycle region only" disabled, nothing selected, and the end-of-song marker correctly set.
    However, this will not get rid of the trailing empty bars.
    Reimport the bounced song to a new Ringtone project and trim it and save it as a tone, or to a regular project and add it to the Loop Library.
    Find the AIFF file of the loop in the Loop library - it will be installed in your User Library in your Home folder
    ~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops/SingleFiles/
