Remove property from a OOTB component
Hello,
I want to remove an OOTB property from a component - Can I do it using dyn admin or by creating a new properties file ?
Hi ORA-100,
For example if you want to remove a ootb property-firstName.
1. Search & open the repository you want to extend in dyn/admin (in our case it is ProfileAdapterRepository)
2. Click on "Examine Repository Definition" and there you can see- CONFIGPATH Filename : /atg/userprofiling/userProfile.xml
In the userProfile.xml search the item-descriptor "user" and see a table- <table name="dps_user">.
In this table ootb properties related to profiles are defined.You can search the 'firstName' property which we are going to remove.
3. Now, you have to layer the userProfile.xml in your custom ATG module at the same location in config path as OOTB xml.
4. NextcCreate a new table which extends the original table keeping important point in mind that a column which stores the repository id of this item-descriptor - we name it as USER_ID. This is basically the primary key of our new (auxiliary) table and is the foreign key for dps_user. This means that the value of column "id" of dps_user is same as "user_id" in custom_user. This is to ensure that our new table is linked to previous table and remove your property there as below-
Here you can copy required tags like gsa-template for an xml from step 2's userProfile.xml; remaing code required for remove operation is as below-
<item-descriptor name="user" cache-mode="simple" item-cache-timeout="550000" query-expire-timeout="550000" xml-combine="append">
<table name="my_user" type="auxiliary" id-column-name="user_id">
<property name="firstName" xml-combine="remove"/>
</table>
</item-descriptor>
Let me know if you face any issue.

How to access component's control property from main .mxml file
I have a main .mxml while in which i imported custom
"popUpWindow" component using "import component.popUpWindow"
statement. In main .mxml file I display later on that component as
popUp window using popUp manager class. Once component is
displayed, how can i access using actionscript component's
TextInput control (specifically its .text property) from my main
.mxml file?
thanksI posted this answer elsewhere, maybe it will help:
First, save the new component wherever you keep your
components, let's say you call it "MyPopWindow.mxml"
Assign public variables for the string in both the main app
and the popup.
In your case, in the main app:
Code:
public var myText:String = "whatever the text field should
say.";
and then in the pop up mxml:
Code:
[Bindable]
public var myText;
Then, in the main mxml file:
Code:
// define the window type
private var popWin:MyPopWindow;
private function popMeUp(event:MouseEvent):void{
popWin =MyPopWindow(PopUpManager.createPopUp(this,
MyPopWindow, true));
popWin.myText = myText;
The important things here to notice is the name of the
component (i.e. the file) is used. A variable is created for the
window, and TYPED to your file name. Then you use the constructor
you already had, but again use your type. The "true" is optional
and gives you a modal popup window.
Lastly, assign the variable in the window (I called mine
popWin) to the variable in the main file you want to pass. -

Edited by: Hedy BOUROUROU on Nov 15, 2010 3:14 PMHello,
systems are already deleted and unregistred from agents and monitoring system.
All RFC are deletd and all unuse system have been deleted from smt1/smt2
My problem is coming from the "System Component Repository", i still have some old systems and old release.
I executed the report CSM_CONTENT_TAB_CLEAN (with CCMS_DOMAIN) to delete the CSR and create again with report CSM_LOAD_LOCAL_SYSTEM_DATA, still have the same issue.
I opened a SAP message.

Method or property to remove decorations from a control
Hi folk,
by program, I would like to remove (to make transparent) some decorations of a control (the 3d border of an Intensity Graph) before to save it on a png/jpg file.
Do you know how to perform that task by method or property?
Regard,
AsperDear Ben,
thanks for your workaround suggestion.
I already use the Get Image node, but I believe that this is not the right way. I would like to preserve all features like scales, scale labels etc. and strip out only the 3d border and other decorations.
"slice and dice" the image is not possible because it would cut parts of scales. Now I am using the "Create Mask.vi" to delete the color that is associated with the border. This approach works not very well too.
The 3d border has a color gradient and it is necessary to delete all colors associated to the 3d border gradient.
Further the 3d border changes size and number of gradient colors with the zooming of the windows. Not last, the size of plot area changes with variation of the minimum and maximum of scale limits.
Programmaticly is not so clear which points should be selected to detect the colors to mask.
Any method or property to remove decorations from a control?

Removing Items from a TextArea/Pane Component
Hi All,
I have a question about text containers. Basically I'm reading Strings from a file and I'm displaying them inside a JTextArea. I'm adding new Strings to the JTextArea using it's append() method. Is there a way to limit how much stuff should the JTextArea hold ? After a while my application crashes with the following message:
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
<<no stack trace available>>
Exception in thread "main"
This is because so much stuff got accumulated in the JTextArea that it eats up all available memory and the app crashes. My question is; is there a way I can remove items from the JTextArea ? Or is there a way to limit the size/number of Stings it can hold ? Or should I be using something else instead of the JTextArea ? Thanks in advance...
-Peteint size = textArea.getDocument().getLength();
gives the total number of bytes in the text area. You can then use:
textArea.replaceRange("", 0, 80);
to remove 80 characters from the start of the text area. Or to remove the first line from the text area use:
int start = textArea.getLineStartOffset(0);
int end = textArea.getLineEndOffset(0);
textArea.replaceRange("", start, end);
Design your own routine to keep the text area at a reasonable size. -
For me clicking outside of a TextInput should always remove focus from it, only only if you click on another TextInput or Button.
I don't see any simple event like MouseEvent.MOUSE_CLICK_OUTSIDE - which would definitely simplify things.. I wonder why there isn't such event. Well anyway I can't find any other similar event and I can't figure out an easy way to do this. I also wonder why I couldn't find a solution to this on the web easily... Well anyway...
Does someone know how to do that in a convenient way?
Thanks!ok I understand why is that. For example I have a TextInput now where the user enters number through buttons which have mouseFocusEnabled = false, so the TextInput doesn't lose focus. But on a TabBar I had to set mouseFocusEnabled = true or when I switched between tabs -> switches between states, I could still type in the TextInput in the previous tab cause it didn't lose focus. Maybe TabBar's default value of that property is wrongly set to false.
Anyway, not losing focus when clicking outside is still weird. Take for example this forum, if I click outside of the box I am currently writing this, I lose focus. It's how things usually work. And flex focus is designed to work backwards to what people are used to, no matter as I already pointed out I understand there are cases it comes in handly. I hope I don't sound bad but take it just as a suggestion please that maybe if it is redesigned like this: clicking on component gets focus, clicking outside loses focus. But if you click on a button for example and you want to keep the focus on a TextInput cause you add some text, you should be able to set a property on the Button like maintainCurrentFocus = true (false by default), which would make clicking on the Button not shift the focus to it or set it to null if the component is a group that has some rect background for example, but maintain the focus on the TextInput.
I could be missing something about the current design of how the focus works in flex, but from my point of view at the moment, the design I describe to use is just like how I am usually used to be working with focus as a user, not as developer.
Maybe you could agree or maybe you know some reason by which things are how they are at the moment that I don't see. But if you think I make sense please let me know, maybe I could fill a minor enhancement request for that ? -
I have a ListView displaying a collection of icons. The user can then select different icons (checkboxes) to do things like Copy or Delete.
Problem is, when I try to delete the actual file from the disk, I get an error telling me the file is "in use" ("vshost.exe", the VS runtime during testing).
I thought maybe it was because it still appeared in the window and was still in the ImageList, but even after removing it from both locations, I still get the error. My code:
Dim intCnt As Integer = 0
Do
ImageList2.Images.RemoveAt(intIconsChecked(intCnt)) ' Remove from collection.
lsvCollection.Items.RemoveAt(intIconsChecked(intCnt)) ' Remove from ListView window.
FileIO.FileSystem.DeleteFile(strIconPath & "\Icon" & Format(intCnt + 1, "00") & ".rsc") ' "+1" b/c Icons start with "01".
FileIO.FileSystem.DeleteFile(strIconPath & "\Icon" & Format(intCnt + 1, "00") & ".png") ' "In use" Error here.
".rsc" deletes just fine, so I know I'm deleting the correct file. Why does VS still think the file is still "in use"?
ThxMugsy,
Consider this as food for thought, even if you don't use it.
If you set it up right then you can control how it works. A reference is a reference and any left behind will cause you grief down the road when you try to delete things.
As an example, a simple class follows. It does *not* implement IDispose, although it does have a private shared Dispose method in it:
Public Class MyImages
Private _bmp As Bitmap
Private _name As String
Private _sourceFilePath As String
Private Sub New(ByVal bmp As Bitmap, _
ByVal name As String, _
ByVal filePath As String)
_bmp = bmp
_sourceFilePath = filePath.Trim
_name = name.Trim
End Sub
Public ReadOnly Property Bmp As Bitmap
Get
Return _bmp
End Get
End Property
Public ReadOnly Property Name As String
Get
Return _name
End Get
End Property
Public ReadOnly Property SourceFilePath As String
Get
Return _sourceFilePath
End Get
End Property
Public Shared Sub AddNew(ByRef miList As List(Of MyImages), _
ByVal imageFilePath As String)
Try
If miList Is Nothing Then
Throw New ArgumentNullException("The collection of MyImages cannot be null.")
ElseIf String.IsNullOrEmpty(imageFilePath) OrElse imageFilePath.Trim = "" Then
Throw New ArgumentException("The file path of the image cannot be null or empty.")
ElseIf Not My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists(imageFilePath) Then
Throw New IO.FileNotFoundException("The file path of the image could not be located.")
Else
' Should do validation here that the file

' here...
Dim thisBMP As Bitmap = New Bitmap(imageFilePath)
miList.Add(New MyImages(thisBMP, GetFileNameWithoutExtension(imageFilePath), imageFilePath))
End If
Catch ex As Exception
Throw
End Try
End Sub
Public Shared Sub AddNew(ByRef miList As List(Of MyImages), _
ByVal imageFilePath As String, _
ByVal imageName As String)
Try
If miList Is Nothing Then
Throw New ArgumentNullException("The collection of MyImages cannot be null.")
ElseIf String.IsNullOrEmpty(imageFilePath) OrElse imageFilePath.Trim = "" Then

Else
' Should do validation here that the file

' here...
Dim thisBMP As Bitmap = New Bitmap(imageFilePath)
miList.Add(New MyImages(thisBMP, imageName, imageFilePath))
End If
Catch ex As Exception
Throw
End Try
End Sub
Public Shared Sub Remove(ByRef miList As List(Of MyImages), _
ByVal imageFilePath As String, _
Optional ByVal removeFilePathAlso As Boolean = False)
Try
If miList Is Nothing Then
Throw New ArgumentNullException("The collection of MyImages cannot be null.")
ElseIf String.IsNullOrEmpty(imageFilePath) OrElse imageFilePath.Trim = "" Then
Throw New ArgumentException("The file path of the image cannot be null or empty.")
ElseIf Not My.Computer.FileSystem.FileExists(imageFilePath) Then
Throw New IO.FileNotFoundException("The file path of the image could not be located.")
Else
Dim findInstance As System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable(Of MyImages) = _
From mi As MyImages In miList _
Where mi.SourceFilePath = imageFilePath
If findInstance.Count <> 1 Then
Throw New ArgumentException("The instance of MyImages specified by the" & vbCrLf & _
"image file path is not in the collection.")
Else
Dispose(findInstance.First)
If removeFilePathAlso Then
My.Computer.FileSystem.DeleteFile(findInstance.First.SourceFilePath)
End If
miList.Remove(findInstance.First)
End If
End If
Catch ex As Exception
Throw
End Try
End Sub
Private Shared Sub Dispose(ByVal instance As MyImages)
If instance IsNot Nothing AndAlso instance._bmp IsNot Nothing Then
instance._bmp.Dispose()
instance._bmp = Nothing
End If
End Sub
End Class
When you look through that, look specifically at the "Remove" method and in particular, look at the order in which things are done. That's the critical part in this.
I tested it with a simple form:
Two buttons, a checkbox, and a picturebox. I also copied a small folder full of image files to my desktop since I'll be deleting a file from it. Following is the code for Form1:
Option Strict On
Option Explicit On
Option Infer Off
Imports System.IO.Path
Public Class Form1
Private miList As New List(Of MyImages)
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) _
Handles MyBase.Load
Dim desktop As String = _
My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.Desktop
Dim imgFolder As String = _
Combine(desktop, "Images")
PictureBox1.BorderStyle = BorderStyle.FixedSingle
For Each imgFilePath As String In My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles(imgFolder)
MyImages.AddNew(miList, imgFilePath)
Next
btn_RemoveFirstImage.Enabled = False
CheckBox_RemoveSourcePath.Enabled = False
End Sub
Private Sub btn_ShowFirstImage_Click(sender As System.Object, _
e As System.EventArgs) _
Handles btn_ShowFirstImage.Click
Try
If miList.Count >= 1 Then
With PictureBox1
.SizeMode = PictureBoxSizeMode.Zoom
.Image = miList(0).Bmp
End With
btn_RemoveFirstImage.Enabled = True
CheckBox_RemoveSourcePath.Enabled = True
End If
Catch ex As Exception
MessageBox.Show(String.Format("An exception was thrown:{0}{0}{1}", vbCrLf, ex.Message), _
"Exception", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Warning)
End Try
End Sub
Private Sub btn_RemoveFirstImage_Click(sender As System.Object, _
e As System.EventArgs) _
Handles btn_RemoveFirstImage.Click
Try
If miList.Count >= 1 Then
MyImages.Remove(miList, miList(0).SourceFilePath, CheckBox_RemoveSourcePath.Checked)
End If
PictureBox1.Image = Nothing
btn_RemoveFirstImage.Enabled = True
CheckBox_RemoveSourcePath.Enabled = True
Catch ex As Exception
MessageBox.Show(String.Format("An exception was thrown:{0}{0}{1}", vbCrLf, ex.Message), _
"Exception", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Warning)
End Try
End Sub
End Class
Running it is straightforward:
Now when I click to show the first one:
A different image is shown because that first one no longer exists - either in the collection or in the folder.
Closing/disposing all references is the key and the order matters.
Something to consider the next time around. :)
Still lost in code, just at a little higher level. -
Hi everyone,
I have a question and I *think* the answer may be the new active controls, so here goes: I have a control which contains a variety of enumerated items - essentially a typedef enum. I may have up to several dozen items in this control, like this:
Position - 1
Current - 2
Pressure - 3
Temperature - 4
Duty Cycle - 5, etc.
I also have a 2nd control (actually a set of controls) that refer to the indices of the above control. For example, if I "Position" chosen, I wish the 2nd control to appear that refers to position - an enumeration with "X axis, Y axis, etc." If I select "Temperature", I wish the 2nd control to appear that refers to temperature - a different typedef'd enum - "Inlet, Outlet, Air, Water, etc."
How do I do this?
Lastly, the first enum with ALL of the items, pressure, current, etc. does not need to be used. For certain configurations, I wish to eliminate, say the 1st and 3rd item - I don't wish to just gray them out, I wish to remove them from the enumeration, WITHOUT changing their enumerated value. Perhaps I need to write the resultant enum into a temporary ring enum - any ideas?
Thanks,
JasonUnfortunately, you cannot edit the list of enums during runtime, only during edit mode. You can use a ring control however. Then you can use the Strings[] property to set the selections to whatever you want depending upon the 1st enum. See attached vi.

Should I remove Java from my IMac?
Should I remove Java from my iMac? Heard of security problem with Java and wondered if I should delete it,

I've been going entirely on the almost universal statement that installing Lion does not install Java by default. I'm very aware of the fact that older versions of OS X actually rely on the use of Java for some system functions, but I've been told that is no longer the case. If that were so, then there is no need for any Java to be present, yet you say it is there and you aren't the only one who has told me that.
But exactly how much Java is installed by default? Obviously not enough to use it for browsing. In the days of the Java 6 Preferences app, it used to alert you that Java was not installed and offer to do so. What happens with standalone apps like CrashPlan in Lion that require Java, do they have enough, by default, to run?
The only Java component missing in these OSs is the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Peruse those installations, looking in these directories, and be enlightened:
/Applicatons/Utilities/->Java Preferences.app
/Library/Java/
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/->JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
/System/Library/CoreServices/->
Jar Launcher.app
Java Web Start.app

JavaVM.framework
/System/Library/LaunchAgents/->
com.apple.java.InstallOnDemand.plist
com.apple.java.updateSharing.plist
/System/Library/Java
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/->
JavaApplicationLauncher.framework
JavaLaunching.framework
to name a few, but probably not all the Java components installed with OS Xs. Then, stop saying Java's not installed, when only the JRE component is missing.
There has been speculation from some that perhaps it migrated from an older system or that Lion was installed on top of the older system. There's also some confusion these days about what actually constitutes a "clean install".
AFAICT, it's speculated wrongly. As for the clean install, I define it to occur when the user wipes the drive, installs the OS, sets up everything, and then installs all 3rd-party software. Then, the installation is clean. If there's any migration involved, then it's not clean. i've not done one for over ten years and my OSs started with 9.2->Jaguar->to the current three. -

How to remove Seperator from check-in and profile check in pages
The seperator is included on the checkin pages, which is present in the std_page with name "std_namevalue_separator", this is called by td_document_checkin_fields and std_document_file_fields.
Defination of include:
<@dynamichtml std_namevalue_separator@>
<$if not isUploadFieldScript$>
<tr>
<td width="<$captionFieldWidth$>"><hr /></td>
<td width="<$captionEntryWidth$>"><hr /></td>
</tr>
<$endif$>
<@end@>
I have to remove the following include from some of the profile check in page.
Please suggest if anyone have some idea, how to proceed.
Thanks,
Sumit791848 wrote:I have to remove the following include from some of the profile check in page.The key here is that you want to do this in some profiles, not all profiles or globally, if I'm reading this right.
Without writing a component, you can put this code in the "side effects" box in the desired profile(s). This code removes the horizontal rule, and inserts a non breaking space in its place.
<$setResourceInclude("std_namevalue_separator","<$if not isUploadFieldScript$>

<td width=\"<$captionFieldWidth$>\"> </td>
<td width=\"<$captionEntryWidth$>\"> </td>

<$endif$>")$>YMMV. The non-breaking space may get stripped out in the forum. -
