hi, recently i posted a message similar to this one, somebody told me the 'fscommand' still works in as3 so i could use it, i placed:
fscommand("showmenu", false); // << gave error, since it seems it only takes strings
tried
fscommand("showmenu", "false"); // no error but does not work
how do i remove the window menu (file, view, control, debug) in a stand alone movie?

You should start or stop Coldfusion as a Windows service. You
do so in the Control Panel. Navigate to
Administrative Tools => Services. Right-click on
Coldfusion 8 Application Server. To shut down, select
Stop.

Stand-Alone exe for Windows

Hi -
I would like to use Java to create executables that will run by themselves with their own icon in Windows 2000 prof. - preferably without any other software installed. I am learning Java but at this point I am confused by all the choices for compilers, interpreters, GUIs, IDEs, etc.
Which of these elements and which versions will I need?

I don't think it's worth doing this. If all you want is a standalone installation that has an icon shortcut, you can do all of that with the JVM.
1. Distribute the JRE in your application. Installs are for suckers. You don't need them. Create a subfolder in your application direcory and put the JRE you want to use in it.
2. Write the java command to run your app using the jre from 1, don't just use java because you have no idea what the user has installed.
3. Create a shortcut in windows. Right click, open properties. Select your icon. In the target, enter your java command but use javaw instead of Java.

Context Help window is not displaying any information in Stand Alone App

The context help window displays the vi description, as desired) when running in the development environment. However after building the Stand Alone app, while the I can open the context help window using Ctl-H or the front panel menu Help , the help window in empty. The mouse cursor changes to a "hand" while hovering over the icon pic in the upper right hand corner of the Front Panel but does not invoke any change in the help window.
I am using the same PC for development and check out of the Stand Alone app.
Any ideas out there?

Yes, you should be able to zip it or just change the extension and we can change it back. In the mean time I have replicated what you are talking about with a simple executable. However, I think this might be expected behavior. After all, your executable is not a VI anymore. You can also make a product suggestion to have this changed.

me too having the same problem.
in my application, i have right pane and left pane both r 2 different windows. for left pane i dont need menubar and tool bar. but for right pane i need. so i created menubar and toolbar using JMenuBar and JToolBar in java and added to the right window. left pane is as single window where i will choose all other forms which will be displayed in the right side. during when-form-navigate i m getting list of windows and populated in window menu.
for the first time when i click the window menu. i dont have list of windows. bec, in the same instance(when-form-navigate) only i m adding list of windows into the menu. if i click the window menu again, i m getting the list.
could any one solve my problem?

Installing ODI Studio and ODI Stand-alone on 64 bit Windows 7

Can anybody tell me which ODI downloads I need in order to install ODI Studio and ODI Stand-alone on my 64-bit Windows 7 machine?
I've already created the DB repository with RCU, but I'm having trouble with the ODI installation: I just spent an hour and a half downloading 2.5GB of installers that turned out to be wrong - the SETUP.EXE complained that it was a 32 bit installer and wouldn't work on 64 bit Windows - so I now need to find a 64-bit installer instead (another 2.5GB presumably...). Not sure which of the multiple download options to choose and I don't want to spend all day waiting for the wrong files to download again.
Looking through OTN and the (typically confusing) Oracle installation docs, there's a load of stuff about using 32-bit JREs on 64-bit Windows to get around 64/32-bit Java problems later on, or lots of stuff about all the Fusion requirements etc. But I don't want the JEE stuff (I already have about 4 different WebLogic installations because every time I install any Oracle "Fusion" stuff it slaps another WebLogic in there as well), and I'm miles away from getting any Java runtime problems with ODI when I can't even figure out the right installer to use for 64 bit Windows.
Maybe it's just me: every time I try to install any of Oracle's server products (apart from the RDBMS itself), I end up wading through endless lists of cross-linked installation pre-requisites and searching OTN forums for the single secret combination of installer/JDK/JRE/operating system/database character-set/RDBMS version and desperate prayers to minor deities that will permit the installation to go ahead...
So any help will be gratefully received!

How do I remove ALL Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps without removing the Start Menu?

So with three separate builds of WTP I've run the PowerShell command to remove Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps. With each build, it also removes the Start Menu. In the thread below, an MS Support person mentioned that that command was only for Windows
8.x and shouldn't be run on WTP. What? Then why is that command still available? And, why will it remove some Metro/Modern/Universal/Windows Apps, but not others? Are they marked as System required? Why isn't the Start Menu marked as System required? You'd
think that the start menu would be pretty important.

Don't give an answer like "just right-click and uninstall". That doesn't work for all of these things, and do you know how long it takes to do that for all of those silly things? Too long! That's also not practical for an Enterprise desktop. It's

The problem with PowerShell and all of those scripts is that those particular scripts require a lot of typing, or copy and paste, or having to figure out where all of those apps are stored and then insert their convoluted names into the script. For
me, scripting is like programming. I have no desire to be a programmer/developer.
I just want an option in Programs and Features to be able to turn these "features" off. We were able to do it in previous versions of Windows. If we didn't want Internet Games, we uncheck the box. If we don't want our users to be able to print
documents over the Internet, we uncheck the box. And so on down the line for any other "feature" we didn't want our enterprise users to have.
Or, we could turn those features off using the System Image Manager. Now we have to write some convoluted script with even more convoluted commands for even more convoluted names for things we don't want.
The easier script in Windows 8.x was just get-appxpackages -online | remove-appxpackages. That removed the majority of the apps for an individual user. The remove-appxprovisionedpackage command, with the convoluted name of the app, would remove them from
the hard drive - one app at a time, but that doesn't work in Windows 10.
So, they came up with a DISM command, but that doesn't work in Windows 10 either. I should say that with my limited developer skills I haven't found a way to make it work.
Again, I have no desire to be a developer/scripter. They are the same thing in my book. I'm a systems engineer. I do operating systems, not write applications.

How can i download a stand alone version of adobe reader 9.5.2 for windows XP

I can download the .msp for 9.5.2 but this will not install on Windows XP. I need to download a stand alone version for deployment to client machines.

Windows Media Player ActiveX not playing image, but WMP stand alone application does. Why?

I use my Windows Media Player v11 with additional codec to play mp4 files (mp4 are not supported by default with WMP 11, so I had to install a codec). It works fine in the stand alone application, but when I use the ActiveX control in NI, it does not use the codec and I get only the sound... no image. I thought the ActiveX was simply an interface to the same core application used by NI and the stand alone media player. And if it is the same core, it should use the same codec. What am I missing?

I have a tip for you. If you download Quicktime 7(QT), you may select the QT activex player(see picture). It plays mp4 and looks better. And QT is free so it should not any problem. Try and see if it do you any good

Starting Oracle 8i listener when under stand alone Windows NT 4.0 workstation.

I am finding it difficult to start oracle listener under a stand alone Windows NT4.0 workstation. My NT machine is stand alone and not connected to any n/w. Since I was not able to bring up listener, I was not able to create any database. I have installed Oracle8i Enterprise Edition on my machine. Please help.

Skin menu won't work in stand alone published project

I created skin with a menu, but when I published it
as a stand alone (.exe) the menu doesn't link to anything... I've
double ck'd my links and all are OK. The links I put in to other
project via a 'button' work fine. It's just the skin menu that

thanks for your answer. There were noch errors while installation, and, as I have said, the bridge ist working within Photoshop as "Minibridge" Trying to start bridge itself still fails.
I was also using the above mentioned loganalyzer, he returned a message, that everything is ok with the install.
any further ideas? I am concerned, that maybe the download from the Adobe-Site could be corrupt and/or incomplete???

Lately in Acrobat Pro Ver 9 for Win 7 the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Document etc) disappears when I move the window . . only happens when I have a pdf file open . . everything worked fine until a few days ago . . F9 fixes the problem until I move the window again . . I realize my version is old so I tried tried downloading XI reader and having the same issue . . any help would be appreciated

Check if you have multiple Java versions installed on your computer.
Try clean boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Also i would suggest uninstall security software and install it back.
Currently you may use F9 key to restore Menu bar.

Why will a stand alone executalbe with an installer work on windows 2000 and crashes on windows xp professional?

When I run the setup.exe file on a Windows 2000 system it installs properly, but the same file run on a XP Professional system I get an error stating Fatal Error: Installation ended prematurely because of an error.

Sure you can Install a lv application manually. just copy the exe-file,
support files in a folder. For the runtimeengine just copy the file
lvrte.dll in the folder of your application or in the windows system folder.
