Remove Text Line

Hi there,
I'm using the Pages program on iWork and am using the Page Layout option. I'm unable to make the line around the text box disappear once I unclick the box. Is there any way to make the "gray line" around the text box dissapear. I've already checked and made sure that there should be no line around it and it's not selected.
Help,
Thanks
Linda

Thank you sooooo much I cannot believe I spent 1 hour, YES 1 HOUR, trying to figure it out last night before finlly giving it up and it was that easy to fix. Thank you, thank you, thank you
Linda

    Yup, you guys pointed me in the right direction.
    I changed my adjustmentListener to the following:
    JScrollBar scrollBar = (JScrollBar) e.getSource();
    int endLoc = document.getLength();
    try {
        Rectangle end = outputArea.modelToView(endLoc);
        if (end != null) {
            int n = scrollBar.getValue() + scrollBar.getVisibleAmount();
            boolean locked = (end.y >= n && n <= (end.y + end.height));
    } catch (BadLocationException ex) {
    }By comparing scrollbar position with the visible rectangle of the end of the document, I can now easily tell if the user has moved the tracker back or not.
    To go to the next step of automatically pausing scrolling whenever the user is moving the slider back, I also had to disable the automatic scrolling performed by DefaultCaret. Because there was no way to tell if the user was scrolling or if the output was adjusting from the adjustmentListener, I also had to flag whenever I was autoscrolling.
    The end result is a JTextPane that can be appended to at all, and locked by the user by using the slider. If new data arrives, the window is not scrolled, and any text selection the user has is not cleared. Perfect!

  • Add/Remove Text Lines FCPX

    In FCPX, with the title design called "Winner's Circle" it is set at default to have 5 text lines. I only need 2 text lines for this title. The amount of text lines determines how many times "winner's circle" repeats the animation. It is repeating it's animation 3 times where there is no text content needed. How do I add or Remove a text line? Is this feature possible?
    I've attempted cutting and shortening the clip where I want it to stop animating; it'll persist for another 3 times no matter what the duration is.
    Option F will not allow me to make a freeze frame of the motion title graphic called "Winner's Circle". Is there another way to make a freeze frame other than taking a screen shot? With this option, I would be able to add another video layer with the freeze frame of "winner's circle" above this same clip while the animation would repeat 3 more times unnecessarily--in order to disguise it...
    I've attempted to troubleshoot with keyframes... I need "winner's circle" to cross dissolve with another clip, not gradually fade to black.
    Thanks!

    I'm the one that's sorry! You are a brave soul. Most come here too timid to try most things out - you're already slogging around in the guts of a fairly sophisticated template (difficulty points due to 3D orientation and behavior animation of material.) I guestimated your abilities based on such.
    My modified suggestions:
    1) you will not need to clone anything [save cloning for another day ]
    2) Find the Text Layers Group
    3) Delete the 2nd through 5th "INFORMATION" text layers (in order of appearance - top to bottom)
    4) Delete the 2nd through 5th Ramp behaviors (at the top of the "folder" -- in order of appearance... etc.)
    You should be left with one "INFORMATION" and when played, the wheel should spin and stop with the text in the correct location.
    Select the Text "Information" layer and under the canvas in the timeline, click and drag the right edge out all the way to the right. This will keep the text "on" the rest of the length of the template.
    Play again and make sure the "Information" stays on screen for the entire length of the template.
    Click on the time clock icon under the canvas so that the clock hands read quarter past 12 then double click on the time and type "5." (number 5 plus a period) + enter (set the length of the template to 5 seconds.)
    With the Information text layer still selected, Command - D (duplicate the layer - you should now have an INFORMATION copy layer.) [both of these text layers will be independently editable in FCPX (that includes Fonts and size, etc...)
    For the duplicate layer:
    In the inspector > Properties, try these coordinates to start:
    X: 486
    Y: -1195
    Z: 23
    Rotation:
    X: 0
    Y: 0
    Z: 78
    Scale:
    X: 95
    Y: 170
    Z: 85
    Shear:
    X: -24
    Y: -9
    [You can play with any of these settings to get the "look" you prefer -- I was just trying to "match" the design somewhat -- and it's a bit of a guess...]
    Go to the Text > Format inspector. At the bottom of the column to the right of the word "Text" - when you pass the mouse over the region, a disclosure triangle will appear -- click it and select Publish from the dropdown.
    To publish colorizing elements:
    Select the Gradient > Gradient layer  (bottom of the list -- if it looks like two blue squares, open up that group and select the "generator" icon (ultra miniature monitor looking thing with a test pattern).  In the Generator inspector > Gradient, right click on the word Gradient (just over the color bar) and select publish from the dropdown.
    Right OVER the gradient folder, the bottom item of the Text Layers folder, select "Rectangle" (just under Replicator.)  In the Inspector: Shape > Style > Fill section, click on the word gradient just over the color bar (again) and select publish.
    One more thing:
    Drag the playhead to the 2 second mark under the canvas. Click anywhere in the layer's list that's NOT on any item (that is - deselect any and all items in that list.)  Type the tilde key (or accent grave key, however you look at it) -- that will add a marker. Immediately type Command-Option M , which calls up the Edit Marker dialog. In the Type section, select Build In Mandatory... then OK.
    Save the project.
    You now have a 1 Score (Winner/Loser/Tie) winner's circle template. Use a new instance for each score in the storyline.  You can trim the template or drag it out in time in FCPX -- the animation at the beginning will always play with exactly the same speed.
    PS - an oddity is occuring with my copy: the lower Information text is ending up under the upper text (like a drop shadow) and repositioning in Motion makes no difference -- if that happens to yours, just double click on the "under" text and "slide it out" to where it belongs (in FCPX).
    Anyway, it should look a little like this (at around the 2 second mark):
    For completeness: if you need "subtitle" lines, these can be accomplished in FCPX. Type a return at the end of the title and continue with a second line. Select only the second line in the text box (text tab of the inspector) and resize the font (restyle it any way you like actually...) You shouldn't need to add extra lines to what you already have (in the Motion template). Also, if you need to get rid of one or the other -- select the text of it, and type in a space character (why a space? So you have something to double click on in the canvas if you need to find it again.)

  • Best way to remove last line-feed in text file

    What is the best way to remove last line-feed in text file? (so that the last line of text is the last line, not a line-feed). The best I can come up with is: echo -n "$(cat file.txt)" > newfile.txt
    (as echo -n will remove all trailing newline characters)

    What is the best way to remove last line-feed in text file? (so that the last line of text is the last line, not a line-feed). The best I can come up with is: echo -n "$(cat file.txt)" > newfile.txt
    (as echo -n will remove all trailing newline characters)
    According to my experiments, you have removed all line terminators from the file, and replaced those between lines with a space.
    That is to say, you have turned a multi-line file into one long line with no line terminator.
    If that is what you want, and your files are not very big, then your echo statement might be all you need.
    If you need to deal with larger files, you could try using the 'tr' command, and something like
    tr '
    ' ' ' <file.txt >newfile.txt
    The only problem with this is, it will most likely give you a trailing space, as the last newline is going to be converted to a space. If that is not acceptable, then something else will have to be arranged.
    However, if you really want to maintain a multi-line file, but remove just the very last line terminator, that gets a bit more complicated. This might work for you:
    perl -ne '
    chomp;
    print "
    " if $n++ != 0;
    print;
    ' file.txt >newfile.txt
    You can use cat -e to see which lines have newlines, and you should see that the last line does not have a newline, but all the others still do.
    I guess if you really did mean to remove all newline characters and replace them with a space, except for the last line, then a modification of the above perl script would do that:
    perl -ne '
    chomp;
    print " " if $n++ != 0;
    print;
    ' file.txt >newfile.txt
    Am I even close to understanding what you are asking for?

  • //remove this line if you want to edit the code by hand? um which line?

    Several of my pages are locking up and I don't know why. As I work through the code, I remembered that I altered some text in a SendEmail by directly altering the page rather than using the Server Behavior. Don't understand why that would matter but whatever...
    Now as I ponder if that is causing the problem, I ran across this commented line in the code:
    //remove this line if you want to edit the code by hand
    But are they talking about the line just after that line of //remove or do they mean the actual comment line of
    //remove this line if you want to edit the code by hand?
    Thanks for your help

    Trigger and $tNG look suspiciously like ADDT code to me. Ask the guys in the ADDT forum (http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver/addt). There are a couple of them in there who know the code intimately. I haven't touched ADDT for ages.

  • Dropping characters in text lines (FM8)

    I'm experiencing problems with dropped characters in text lines. Also, I've noticed the history doesn't seem to log all changes made to text lines. The problem can be duplicated as follows:
    1. Open a new portrait blank document and add an anchored frame. (recorded in history)
    2. Add a text line inside the anchored frame from the Tools Palette. In the text line, type "1234" (recorded in history).
    3. Save the file. (history cleared)
    4. Click the cursor after the "4" in the text line and hit a carriage return to create a new text line. (not recorded in history)
    5. In the new text line, type "1234567890"(not recorded in history)
    6. Save the file.
    7. Refresh the screen (cntl l) and the second text line now reads "12346890" (dropped the 5 and 7). Printing the file in steps 5 and 6 also show the 5 and 7 are missing.
    8. Add a new text line inside the anchored frame from the Tools Palette. In the text line, type "12345" (recorded in history).
    9. Save the file. (history cleared)
    10. Click the cursor after the "5" in the text line from step 8 and hit a carriage return to create a new text line. (not recorded in history)
    11. In the new text line, type "1234567890"(not recorded in history)
    12. Save the file.
    13. Refresh the screen and the second text line now reads "12345790" (dropped the 6 and 8).
    Has anyone else seen this problem (or can duplicate it)?
    Also, can someone explain why some of the steps above are not recorded in the history.
    FYI, while trying to find a repeatable sequence to demonstrate this problem, Frame crashed on me.
    I'm running a trial version of Frame 8, version 8.0p273, with XP Pro, on a fairly new Dell Optiplex 740.
    Thanks,
    Jeff Schweiner

    Hi Jeff,
    I have now tried what you're doing and get the same result!
    I have also added a text line with characters a to z. After saving ad doing a ctrl-l, the character after the last one, and the character second after that, in the previous line, was removed. (I first typed "abcd", saved, made a new line, typed "abcdefghi", saved, made ctrl-l, the characters "e" and "g" were removed).
    I have the same version of FrameMaker + SGML, but this is a licensed version, running on Win 2000.

  • How do I remove a line in Layout?

    There is a line in section text layout that I wish to either remove or move around (shown as the selected red line). But I can't seem to delete or move them once I selected it in the layout. Why? Thanks!

    Thanks! It works. But if I apply the change to the section, it will wipe out all the images of all the sections... and I have a lot of images!
    What's the best way to remove that line and not cause too much images? Can I do it page by page?

  • Removing new line character in jdk 1.2

    I am currently using replaceAll("\n", "") to remove new line characters in an string. But this works only for 1.4 version, I know need to have this work on 1.2 and 1.3.
    Is there an alternate method that I can use?

    If the string come from a file that's in the native text format for that platform, then replaceAll(System.getProperty("line.separator", "") will work.
    This won't work, however, if you, say, create a text file on windows and the read it on Unix without translating the EOL characters.
    If you can't be certain that the file is in the format that matches the current platform, three options pop to mind:
    * Run over the String, char by char, copying all chars to a new String except \r and \n.
    * Use two replaceAll calls--one with \r and one with \n.
    * Dump the String into a StringReader, then wrap the StringReader in a BufferedReader. Call readLine() on the BufferedReader in a loop, concatenating the results in a StringBuffer as you go.

  • Can i remove white line that appears in between 2 videos when i am using video next to video

    can i remove white line that appears in between 2 videos when i am using video next to video

    The easiest answer would be to just get a Friskars cutter or something similar. I have one like this that I use to cut my photos apart. I found mine at a Walmart in either the scrapbook aisle or the hobby aisle.
    However, if you are determined to make a custom picture package you can try making a custom layout with a text editor. I know you can control the white space amount but not sure if you can totally eliminate it.
    A simple text editor will work...notepad works for this on Windows...not sure what is comparable on the mac.
    In PSE3, the layouts are found following this path Adobe<Photoshop Elements 3.0<Shared Assets<Layouts...note there is also a folder titled Layouts readmes which shows the formula to edit the layouts.
    Here is a link that details how to create a picture package layout using a text editor:
    http://www.graficalicus.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=8&theme=Printer
    Caution: Make sure you save your custom layout with a new name so you don't overwrite the ones that ship with elements.

  • Remove black lines from a tiff image in Photoshop.

    Hi,
    I am developing an automation plugin in Ps. I have images which contains text, border and vertical lines. I need to remove the lines and border from the image. The problem is that the color of text,line and border are same ie. black.
    I tried reading pixel by pixel but couldn't differentiate between the lines and text as both are of same color.
    Can anyone suggest some other way to achive this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Just to clarify the situation for us. You want to remove the black frame and the vertical lines while leaving the black rectangle and the text intact in the image? Is this correct?
    You also mentioned you are attempting to create an "automation plug-in for Photoshop"
    You say you have other images, I'm assuming they are different for the one you posted but you want the "plug-in" to delete the black frame & vertical lines from a number of different images?
    Will the black rectangle always be in the same exact position and will the image dimensions for all the images always be the same?
    As Noel said, you should go to the Photoshop SDK forum. Explain to them what you want to do and that you want to do this on many different images.
    As an afterthought, a Plug-in is different from a Photoshop Action. Perhaps this could be partially done with an Action that allows for a pause to select or change something before continuing the action.
    And no, I don't create Actions myself so I can't help.  Do some reading and see what you can come up with.

  • What's the easiest way to remove a line of a textfile?

    The line to remove can be any line in the file - not only the first or last one. How can I insert or append a line to a textfile?
    Is there any good tutorial for file operations?
    Thanks a million,
    Serano.

    If you wish to remove any line inside of a text file, you're going to have to use random access. The documentation for the class is located here:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/api/java/io/RandomAccessFile.html
    If you wish to append to a text file, you can use FileWriter. If you pass a boolean of value true as the second argument to the constructor, it will append to the file.

  • DocumentListener #removeUpdate -- Retrieving the removed text

    Hi,
    I have a DocumentListener registered on a Document. I not only want to know when text is removed, but I want to know what text was removed. It appears to me that the document structure is updated before the listeners are notified (even though sticky positions aren't ...?), meaning the offset/length methods will not work for my needs.
    Is this correct? If so, how would one retrieve the removed text?
    I don't want to override #insertString(int, String, AttributeSet) nor #remove(int, int) because these apparently aren't called when UndoableEvents from the document are undone/redone. It's been my experience that only DocumentListener methods are called universally (that is, for undo/redo and normal user operations).
    Passing the line associated with the offset into DocumentEvent#getChange(Element) gives null. Aside, even if it did return something, what concrete implementation of Element represents a character in the document? Or, what is the lowest level of the hierarchy -- line or character?
    Thanks in advance,
    Brien

    Thanks for the references.
    As for casting the event to a CompoundEdit, it is definitely doable, but how would I use the CompundEdit? It's unfortunate that many classes in the java.swing.text package aren't designed to be flexible for different uses. It seems the two members that would be useful, #lastEdit and #edits, are protected.
    Even if I could get the UndoableEdit, like GapContent.RemoveUndo, how would I get to the internal String representing the removed text?
    I could really use the details on this.
    I see two options if I want to pursue this further --
    1. Use reflection to access the protected fields (super bad).
    2. To get what I want, I could, in the removeUpdate method, temporarily undo the event, check the document, then redo the event. This seems very sloppy, wasteful, and the implementation would have to be very careful with the infinite mutual recursion.
    As it stands, I likely won't pursue it. It's not very critical, but it's very disappointing.

  • Data Merge Remove Blank Lines for Images?

    I'm trying to use data merge to generate these labels:
    I have a spreadsheet with 20 or so products. Each product can have up to 6 of about 18 icons. The  problem is, the remove blank lines feature doesn't seem to work for image placeholders. Any ideas how to get around this?
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    I think I know what the OP wants to do - that is, where no logo is applicable, then all the logos shift to the left... or right... or remain centered.
    I've tackled this before and have an answer... even have a tutorial for it on my blog. Go to http://colecandoo.wordpress.com/2012/02/19/going-beyond-stencil-letters/ and then go to 4: SCRABBLE LETTERS and have a read of that. There is a PDF to download which has attachments inside of the indesign file and assets used to make the tutorial.
    The key to getting the images to disappear is fourfold.
    First, the image frames have to be inline graphics one next to the other, aligned with whichever text feature is appropriate.
    Second, the picture placement options in the merge have to be "fit frame to content"
    Third, there can't be "blank" records in the csv/txt file when there is no picture. instead, create a "blank.pdf", or download the one i've graciously decided to host on my site: http://colecandoo.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/blank.pdf
    Fourth, the PDFs going into the fields must be using the artbox to get it's measurements. I find that this can be accomplished by placing a PDF image with "show placement options" turned on, then selecting the artbox for the measurement, then clicking ok. until it is told not to, any PDF placed in any file from that point will use that artbox as a reference until it is told not to in the "show placement options".
    Again, my blog has a tutorial and sample to play with. Good luck.
