  • Text Box issue - displays XML tag instead of the value in EBS

    I need to use a textbox (or a autoshape with text) to place a data element in a specific position on the page in an RTF template. I tried using tables and it didn't help. This layout needs some elements to be placed at specific location and using an autoshape or a text box is easy. When I preview the pdf output on my desktop, it works fine. Once I upload the template into EBS XML Publisher, the value in the text box shows up as an XML Tag instead of the value in that tag. The same XML data when loaded and previewed locally shows the data instead of the tag.
    Any thoughts on this? Is there a patch or something we might need for this in EBS?
    Thanks,
    Vinay

    Thanks Tim for the quick response.
    Yes - the versions are same. Also, I tried giving the complete path. The issue is that it is not even reading the text in the text box as an XML tag. It seems to think the whole text box is an object and hence just display that text as is. If it was reading and not able to resolve it, I guess it would have displayed blank (and not the tag as is). Again as I mentioned it works fine in local preview on my machine.

  • How can I replace a text/range of text enclosed in a XML tag

    I want to replace a piece of text enclosed inside a XML tag in a text frame.
    In my input parameters, I have the In-design document page number, text frame UID in that page and the XML tag name inside that text frame
    which encloses my old text.
    what command/function/interface can I use which can help me to replace the existing text with the input text ?
    eg:
    [old text]  -----> [new text]
    where [ ] is XML tag with name tag1.

    After some trail and POC, I was able to write the below piece of code.
    This detects the starting and ending position of the marker and based on that we can replace the text inside it. Hope it helps.
    InterfacePtr<IDocumentSignalData> data(signalMgr, UseDefaultIID());
            if (data == nil)
                break;
            UIDRef docRef = data->GetDocument();
            InterfacePtr<IDocument> doc(docRef, IID_IDOCUMENT);
      IDataBase *db = docRef.GetDataBase();
      //Get the spread
      InterfacePtr<ISpreadList> spreadList(doc, UseDefaultIID());
      int32 spreadCount = spreadList->GetSpreadCount();
      for ( int32 spreadIndex = 0; spreadIndex < spreadCount; spreadIndex++ )
      // Get the spread reference
      UIDRef spreadUIDRef(db, spreadList->GetNthSpreadUID(spreadIndex));
      // Get the spread object
      InterfacePtr<ISpread> spread(spreadUIDRef, UseDefaultIID());
      int32 numberOfPages = spread->GetNumPages();
      for (int32 nPage = 0; nPage < numberOfPages; nPage++ )
      UIDList pageItemList(db);
      spread->GetItemsOnPage(nPage, &pageItemList, kFalse, kFalse);
      // Iterate the page items and save off the UIDs of frames.
      int32 pageItemListLength = pageItemList.Length();
      for (int32 j = 0; j < pageItemListLength; j++ )
      UIDRef pageItemRef = pageItemList.GetRef(j);
      InterfacePtr<IFrameType> frame(pageItemRef, UseDefaultIID());
      if( frame->IsTextFrame() )
      //Now trying to get the marker position for XML tag
      TextIndex startPos=0,endPos=0;
      IXMLReferenceData *xmlReferenceData= Utils<IXMLUtils>()->QueryXMLReferenceData(pageItemRef);
      XMLReference ref = xmlReferenceData->GetReference();
      //IIDXMLElement *element = ref.Instantiate();
      InterfacePtr<IIDXMLElement> element(ref.Instantiate());
      UID tagUID = element->GetTagUID();
      WideString elementName = element->GetTagString();
      for(int32 i=0; i < element->GetChildCount(); i++)
      XMLReference childRef = element->GetNthChild(i);
      InterfacePtr<IIDXMLElement> child_element(childRef.Instantiate());
      tagUID = child_element->GetTagUID();
      elementName = child_element->GetTagString();
      int32 index=0;
      Utils<IXMLUtils>()->GetElementMarkerPositions(child_element,&startPos,&endPos);

  • Put XML data inside XML tag

    hi
    all,
    can i put XML data in XML file because when i vaildate it with schema it shows following ParserException :
    " The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed. "

    File1.xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE foo [
    <!ENTITY file2 SYSTEM "file2.xml">
    ]>
    <foo>
      <included-xml>
        &file2;
      </included-xml>
    </foo>File2.xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <bar>
    Other elements and text
    </bar>
    [pre]
    Then feeding file1.xml to a parser should include file2.xml, inside the <included-xml> element with the correct character encodings and any entities expanded.
    What actually are you trying to achieve?

  • Getting characters in a particular xml tag type during Sax parsing.

    How do I get the text within a certain XML tag using the parser. I can use the parser which will get me all the text in all the tags, but how do I get the ones I need only.
    For example:
    <channel id="south-east.bbc1.bbc.co.uk">
        <display-name lang="en">BBC1</display-name>
        <display-name>1</display-name>
      </channel>
      <programme start="20040217233500" stop="20040218000500 +0000" channel="south-east.bbc1.bbc.co.uk">
        <title lang="en">Film 2004 with Jonathan Ross</title>
      </programme>how do I get the text 'Film 2004 with Jonathan Ross' without getting the others?

    Well, the SAX parser just gives you the start/end tag
    information to a handler, right? So if you just use
    the SAX parser to get one item, then you could do it
    by running thru the entire XML file to get that item
    then get another item. Clearly this isn't the best
    way to do it.... The handler should put the data for
    the whole document into some data structure, or use
    DocumentBuilder to get a Document object. I see. Yes, that is not the way to use SAX. It's kind of an inside out way of doing things. If you using SAX you should know everything that you want before parsing and grab all of them in one fell swoop.
    If you want to get an in memory representation, the JDOM package is a whole lot eaiser to use than DOM.

  • Wanted - XML Tag with AJAX; JSF compatible

    Hello, I'm looking for a tag that displays XML in a collapsible format.
    So I start with an XML tree displaying level 1 tree info. When the user clicks on a node, it uses AJAX to dynamically pull info associated with the node and displays the XML sub-tree. The user can then click on a sub-node to view the tree associated with the sub-node, or collapse a node and move onto another node.
    It needs to be JSF compatible too.
    Is this doable and if yes, then could you recommend what hoops will I need to jump through to make it so.
    Thanks.
    Ciao, Bhishma

    Is the XML file being generated on the fly in your servlet? Well, you wrote it, didn't you? So you should know. If your servlet is what you posted there, you aren't even generating XML. You are just generating some text, which isn't XML.
    The point is, if you want XML generated then it's up to you to do that. Nothing happens automagically. If you want XML with a "message" element then you have to generate XML with a "message" element.

  • How to remove extra spaces in a xml formatted string

    Hi,
    I am trying to remove extra spaces between the xml tags. For
    example, if a string is something like
    ' <header 1> <header 2> test </header 2> </header1>'
    I want to get rid of the spaces only between the closing tag of header 1 and opening tag of header 2 and closing tag of header 2 and opening tag of header 1, in short ,I want to remove the extra spaces between the tags if there are no other characters between them. I do not want the remove the spaces between closing tag header 2 and opening tag of header ,as there is occurence of other characters.
    I am aware that this can be done by looping through the string and using instr to identify the characters '<' and '>', but I would like to use it as a last resort only.
    Can anyone suggest me a better way of doing it in a single go by manipulating the data?
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Regards,
    Anil.

    You can use the replace function. If you only expect one extra space, then:
    scott@ORA92> select replace ('<header 1> <header 2> test </header 2> </header1>',
    2      '><', '><')
    3 from dual
    4 /
    REPLACE('<HEADER1><HEADER2>TEST</HEADER2></HEADER
    <header 1> <header 2> test </header 2> </header1>
    If you expect more extra spaces, then you will need to wrap another replace function around it for each space, for example the following will eliminate up to three spaces:
    scott@ORA92> select replace (replace (replace ('<header 1> <header 2> test </header 2> </header1>',
    2      '>     <', '><'), '>     <', '><'), '> <', '><')
    3 from dual
    4 /
    REPLACE(REPLACE(REPLACE('<HEADER1><HEADER2>TEST
    <header 1><header 2> test </header 2></header1>

    Did anyone done regarding this issues. Thanks in advance.
    Kind Regards,
    Praveen Reddy

    Hi Praveen,
    Are you trying to make the xml into a string?  I think if you remove the first tag, it will either automagically reappear or it will throw and error as being poorly formed xml.
    In general, you can remove the nodes by the use of indexes.  Since you are operating at the root level, I am not sure how well it will work, but if your xml is in a property, you can reference the specific nodes by something like this:  myXML.Output{/*[1]} which if you put it in a tracer will display the contents of the first node (or blank if there are child nodes).  The node index can be dynamically set, but start with the simple hard coded one.  I would also start at the lowest child level to verify that it is working properly (a tracer will display the contents specified by the index).  You can also google xml indices (or indexes) and it will point to some other useful xml operators.
    I suggest that you play around with it and also work with the Link Types (hint: removeXML).

    Mike

  • How to insert a new line character inside CDATA tag in the source xml data file?

    values for form fields in the xml data file is contained inside CDATA tags which is an Unparsed Format.
    Eg: [CDATA[IBM-01 ~ DSHFSJDSJ ~ FGFGFJ, ~ VA 665665]] delimited by "~" char
    Actual o/p:-
    IBM-01 ~ DSHFSJDSJ ~ FGFGFJ, ~ VA 665665
    Expected o/p is like :-
    IBM-01
    DSHFSJDSJ
    FGFGFJ,
    VA 665665
    live cycle product does not interpret ~ as a newline character. Please suggest which character should be used instead inside CDATA section or if there is any other way to fix this?

    I do not have any problem while using IE's XML parser
    for XML+XSLT merging.That is because IE's parser does not implement XML correctly.
    But when I use JAXP's Transformer object, it does not
    preserve the new lines inside attribute values and
    converts those into white spaces.That is exactly what the XML specifications say should happen.
    >
    ----If you have text that contains newlines, you
    should put it in an element, not in
    ----an attribute.
    That would be my last solution. But I'd really hate
    to change my logic just 'coz JAXP is not capable of
    handling new lines inside attribute values. I may be
    wrong... but If IE can keep those then there has to
    be a way to do the same from server side merging....Sure. Write your own parser with the same bug in it. But you don't have any right to demand that other people supply you with parsers that work incorrectly.

  • How to get a text between two XML tags?

    Hello everybody!
    I've got a problem! How can I extract a text that is between tags, like <myTag> My text </myTag> I have no problem to get the attributes inside the tags, however, i don't know how to get some text that is between tags. Here is my xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <tangram_request service_id="3">
    <send keep_session="nada">
    <source></source>
    <destination>3196931566</destination>
    <channel_id>2</channel_id>
    <text>Teste ServerSocket!!!</text>
    </send>
    </tangram_request>
    Now, there's a fragment of my code, which gets some tags' attributes:
    DOMParser parser = new DOMParser();
    InputSource resp = new InputSource(new StringReader(XML));
    parser.parse(resp);
    Document doc = parser.getDocument();
    Node node =(doc.getElementsByTagName "tangram_request")).item(0);
    if (node instanceof Element)
    Element el = (Element) node;
    service_id = el.getAttribute("service_id");
    System.out.println("\n\nService_id="+service_id);
    }else{System.out.println("Erro");}
    node = (doc.getElementsByTagName("send")).item(0);
    if (node instanceof Element)
    Element el = (Element) node;
    keep_session = el.getAttribute("keep_session");
    System.out.println("keep_session="+keep_session);
    }else{System.out.println("Erro");}
    Now, I want to get the texte between <destination> ... </destination>
    How could I do that?
    Thanks a lot
    Calegari

    Thanks... It worked fine!!!
    Now how can I get lots of <desctination>... I did something that haven't worked...
    node = (doc.getElementsByTagName("destination")).item(0);
    while(node.hasChildNodes())
    destination = node.removeChild(node.getFirstChild()).getNodeValue();
    System.out.println("destination="+destination);
    And now, my XML is like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <tangram_request service_id="3">
    <send keep_session="nada">
    <source></source>

  • Multiple Return to Single Return is Removing XML Tag

    Dear All,
    I'm Using  -  InDesignCS3 + WinXP + VB6.
    I've a InDesign file which is created by XML Import (Our Customers needs XML Output also at the End).
    After importing i've done few modifications (Moved Figs & Captions to frames by PlaceXML method).
    At this stage an Extra Paragraph Return (where the Figure placed while import, before moving to frame) is available.
    When i tried to remove this by replace, XML Tag for the Figures are also deleted from the XML Structure of the Document.
    Is there any other way to do this? - Please Suggest
    Thanks in Advance,
    SaRaVaNaN.N...

    Hai,
    Here is a Simple Example for my Question.
    Ex: Import the following XML and from the XML Structure (Ctrl+Alt+1) Move <figure> to a new Frame.
          You'll see an extra paragraph return between those two paragraphs.
              <root><para>...text 1...</para>
              <figure><title>fig.1</title><img href="myFig1.jpg"/><caption>about the figure</caption></figure>
              <para>...text 2...</para></root>
    GoTo Story Editor (Ctrl+Y). You'll see as follows:
              [x]para>...text 1...<para[x]
              [x]figure]
              [x]para>...text 2...<para[x]
    After Replacing '^b^b' to '^b' it looks like below:
              [x]para>...text 1...<para[x]
              [x]para>...text 2...<para[x]
    Figure Tag is removed from the XML Structure and Story Editor. Is there any way to remove this extra pragraph reture with keeping the XML Structure?
    Thanks...

  • Remove Empty XML Tags using module parameters

    Hi All,
    In my lanscape I have two PI Systems.
    My scenario is an IDOC reaches 1st PI system gets converted into an EDIFACT and then goes to the 2nd PI and from there it gets routed to the respective AS2 Party.
    I am using SOAP to pass message between the PI systems and B2B Toolkit's AS2 Adapter for the communication with AS2 party.
    The issue is when the message is getting converted from IDOC to EDIFACT there are a few feilds with occurence 1..1 and due to these fields i get an empty XML tag at the output. These empty XML tags give me an error in the B2B Toolkit's AS2 Adapter Receiver Channel
    I cannot change the occurence in the structure of the EDIFACT nor can I use an XSLT mapping to remove empty tags before the message reaches the Communication Channel.
    I want to know if there are any module parameters which i can use either in SOAP Channel or the AS2 Channel to remove the XML Tags.

    Hi Muni,
    "1..1 means, you must send some values for that fields. try to find out why these are not getting any values."
    This empty tag is expected. Before using B2B Toolkit's AS2 Adapter we used to use Seeburger's AS2 Adpater and the message used to get executed successfully with these empty tags.The issue is coming only when we are using B2B Toolkit's AS2 Adapter.
    "if you want to stop sending(the fields which are not needed in target) you can you can disable the fields in the message mapping."
    I cannot disable the feild in the mapping as some other message may use this field.
    Thanks,
    Farhaan
