Removing black background-(looking for transparency on title stuff)

Tried everything in the manual & more...still, no do workee.
Have other footage to run behind title stuff. White text...

OC, explain a bit more- because what David explained
is correct. If you export from livetype without
rendering the background, then the background is
actually transparent.
My assumption here is that after you do this, you are
watching the quicktime file that pops up in live type
after it renders- and it has a black background.
This is normal, but actually transparency is there.
Import the QT file into final cut and throw it on a
v2 track above another video image. You will notice
that there actually is a transparent background in
FCP...
If you have already done this and you are still
seeing black, my next question would be what format
are you editing in? DV?

  • Remove a background color for transparency

    Greetings,
I have an image with flattened layers and is a PNG image for the web.  I need to select only the white background and remove it for transparency.

Use the magic eraser tool if there is no white adjacent to the background .  You will want to choose contiguous.  If there is white in the main part of the photo adjacent to the background, use a selection tool to choose where to apply the magic eraser.

  • White background or Black background suited for long term watching ?

    Hello,
I saw many desktop themes with white or light grey background a few years ago, but now, many of them turn into black background with white or blue or cyan or others color of fonts.
As a programmer, I am just curious about the theme: which type is suited for long term use of computer?
I have tried both, and found grey background is easy to read because it is similiar to read on paper, but it looks like a lighting-bulb!; black background with blue font is cool, along with less luminosity, seems free my eyes.
But another problem is the color choosing. With light grey background, it seems any color is right. But with black background, colors should be carefully selected, since some colors are not suit black background at all.
Grayscale is another one. With light grey  background, I can easily tune my font in grayscale, like Japanese cartoon paper (I like it very much!), gracifully to distinct keywords. But with black background, it is ugly to use grayscale to distinct keywords.
      How about your ideas?

I commented out the external logo calls (since the new logo area fits really nicely with this style), The sections I commented out can probably be removed safely, and I made the textbox post area more readable.  Now I love the new webpage layout!
Here's the dark home page style I'm using, also based on Hrwa's archlinx homepage userstyle, but I havent made too many changes there, other than the package search box needed a little tweeking.   I havent really checked the other pages, I do know the wiki pages have some issues with this style, if anyone else wants to help out

  • Looking for a specific title...

    Hi,
I have been scouring the usual plug-in sources for iMovie looking for a specific kind of title. Since I have not found it, I thought I would describe it here to see if anyone knows if it exists or where I can get it.
I am looking for a title which scrolls multiple lines of text one at a time to a paused position. i.e.
Line #1: Scrolls to top of screen and pauses. Remains.
Line #2: Scrolls to just below line one and pauses. Remains
Line # 3: Scrolls to just below line two and pauses. etc.
I am looking for a way to tell a story on one title screen in a sort of dramatic way. I want my viewer to digest the first part of the information and then have the remaining info scroll up. Does that make sense?
If anyone out there has any clue as to what I am talking about, I'd love to hear from you!
    Thanks,
    Shannon

I guess I should had stated that I need a laptop no questions asked, I need it to be portable. If an external monitor was an option I may as well get a desktop... I'm aware of laptop's short comings but what I was hoping to gain from this post was information on current models that fulfill decent photo editing specs, in regards to laptops.. not desktop solutions..
So those expensive models you mentioned would be a good start. Would you mind sharing them with me? I've linked a model I'm pretty interested in, and would like the opinion of the community on it's potential and maybe any other models they know of that can match it.
    Thanks again.

  • Can't remove black background of camera flare in tech blue HD...

I am modifying a template in Motion for the opening of an Industrial Video for a client.
I have isolated the lens flare and the lens flare rectangle, but cannot seem to export without the seemingly built in black background.
Can anyone tell me how to export the lens flare minus the black background, or where I can get or how I can create a lens flare on my own.
This is an emergency, any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    SMGHD

I did it and the background remains black. I either must be doing something wrong, or there is an inherent flaw in this program.
Do you know where else I may be able to search/create a lens flare that will export without a black background??
In any case, thank you for your help.
    Regards,
    SMGHD

  • How to remove black background?

    Hi,
How to remove black and gray background found in the attachment(1 page). Thanks.

You can't do it with Acrobat alone. You could if you had Pit Stop or something similar.
If you have Illustrator you could probably open it and remove it there but you'd probably end up getting font substitution if you don't have the same fonts on you system.

  • Help on removing black background from pre-keyed footage - tried everything, won't work, help!

    Hi there,
I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, and up until now, I've had no problem working with pre-keyed footage. I usually place the footage into my timeline, and then would choose a blending mode such as "screen" or "multiply" to erase the black or white background. Except this time, nothing works! I've tried importing different footage, worked with opacity levels, and tried updating all my Adobe applications, downloaded Quicktime 7, etc. etc.
I am still somewhat amateur to all of Premiere Pro, but up until now, I've had an easy time with everything. Any help you can give would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Gabrielle

    Hi all,
Well, I figured out what I was doing wrong. It is extremely embarrassing to admit this, but I was only looking at the footage itself I wanted to change. When i placed it over the other footage, it wasn't blocking it out anymore like it was before (if that makes any sense, I hope it does). Anyway, the blending modes worked perfectly, and I am almost done now with my simple project. I'm going to save your answers, though, because I know I will need to refer to this in the future.
Thanks all, for your help and patience,
    Gabrielle

  • Setting background images for transparent terminals

Of the various terminal emulators I've tried (aterm, urxvt, terminal) none of them function properly with regard to transparency if the background is set with imagemagick.
    display -window root <image>
Terminal and aterm do not show through to the background image at all. While urxvt does become transparent, none of the tinting options show any effect.
This is not a huge issue. There are of course many other programs that can be used to set a background image. When using feh for example, all of the afore mentioned terminal emulators seem to handle transparency as expected.
    feh --bg-scale <image>
However, if both methods of setting the background are used at the same time with different images, then the terminal emulators will show through to the background image that was placed with feh, while the actual desktop background is that of the image set by imagemagick. So the images are effectively placed on different layers.
There was a forum thread that hinted at this before, but there was never any resolution to it. Is this behavior a bug or a "feature"? With which program?
And if it makes any difference I've tried this in both openbox and ion3. Same results.

derelict wrote:There was a forum thread that hinted at this before, but there was never any resolution to it. Is this behavior a bug or a "feature"? With which program?
It's a bug with the apps that set the background which use the "old way" of doing it.  Apps like feh use the "newer approach" which allows things such as aterm to detect the real image and use it for pseudo-transparency.

  • Looking for transparency clarification

    Hello all,
I just spent some time trying to figure out what AI CS4 (Mac 10.5.7) does or does not with placed transparent bitmap images. I started with a grayscale TIFF scan and worked my way through several options, using the GraphicConverter as a bitmap image tool, consulting resources on the web from time to time. This is what I found:
Palette-based transparency (1 colour declared transparent) is ignored, regardless of images colour depth.
Alpha channel transparency is supported (only) if the image mode is 32 bit RGB (tried PNG, TIFF and TIFF w/ LZW compression, all work fine).
No transparency at all is supported for CMYK images (even if alpha channel included, regardless of image format & colour depth)
Is this the same you observe? Could I have found this information anywhere in the AI documentation? Should someone be shot for introducing such a vast array of colour and transparency options? (Ignore the last q. Probably it was the Swiss that invented it, like everything else )
    Cheers,
    Lutz

Pattern is a native AI pattern with bitmaps placed above it. PSD, TIFF, and PDF images are CMYK. PNG and GIF created via Save for Web in Photoshop. TIFF images are layered TIFFs. File created by opening new PS document with transparent background and a simple brush stroke was created, then the file was saved. No special alpha channel consideration was taken into account. This also doesn't take into account the use of clipping paths -- which would further extend the range of transparency in bitmaps, albeit masked transparency rather than alpha transparency. In addition, the 16bit images are flattened to 8bit upon placing into Illustrator, but as you can see, the transparency holds up.
All this is somewhat moot due to the fact that PSD files work flawlessly for 99.9% of files and there's never any reason to use another format anymore, especially if you are working within only the Creative Suite applications. If you are bound to Graphics Converter, some limitations you are seeing may be due to that application, not Illustrator. The only thing I use GC for is multi-page TIFF images (which Photoshop REALLY needs to add support for.)

  • Looking for name of title effect

can someone tell me which transition will allow a title to look like it falling from the foreground and landing on the screen. In movie trailers it's often accompanied by a sound effect when it "lands"

If what you want is to have the title start out bigger and then get to the correct size, making it look like the title fell from 3D space on to the flat surface of the screen, create the title using a larger frame size than your project, without a background - just text - and then scale it down using the keyframes of the Scale parameter of the Motion effect.
It is easier to sell the effect if it bounces, and also if it blows in a bit (changing the position parameters).

  • Stop Automatic Removal of Background Color for .mov files

Hi guys, I'm a rookie to Adobe Premier, but I have a 3.2 ghz processor and 14 GB of memory.  I am trying to edit together a project I am animating in Maya.  I am sequencing TARGA image files into .MOV files with Quicktime Pro and importing the .MOVs into Premier Elements.  The blue sky in the background of each clip is automatically replaced with black when I import and/or render it with Premier.  The sky is blue when I play individual clips in Quicktime or other players, but Premier (and Final Cut) always turns it black as though I enabled a chroma key, though I did not.  I have considered just putting in a blue background matte, but then I lose the smooth gradient of the sky.  Could it have something to do with the alpha channel?  Does anyone have any tips?  Thank you very much!

It sounds like you're indavertantly Videomerging your clips.
When you add your video to your project's timeline, you quite likely see either a pop-up window offering to Smart Fix your video and/or a pop-up window offering to apply Videomerge. Make sure you do not select the Videomerge option.
If you're not seeing this box, you may have turned on the option to Always Videomerge.
To turn this off, go to Edit/Preferences and check the option to Show All Do Not Show Messages. Then, next time you add a clip and you see the Videomerge option, select No and then click the Do Not Show option to permanently turn this automatic feature off.
Lots more information on stuff like this in my books as well as in my 8-part Basic Training tutorial series at Premiere Elements support site Muvipix.com.

  • Newbie oraclephile, geology/GIS background, looking for content.

Hi, I'm new to the Oracle/database area, just switched from an environmental job into a help desk position in the Dallas area as part of my goal to work towards a career in data, preferably as a developer. Being that I already have a solid background in geology and have a good understanding of GIS, I thought I would explore the possibilities that relate to all these realms: data/GIS/geology/natural sciences. As I started browsing the web I started seeing 'Oracle Spatial' and references to ESRI. Could someone point me in a direction where I might find some content pertaining to how GIS data and Oracle products are being used together, what exactly is Oracle Spatial (I imagine it is not a visual component, so is it a developer application?), and any advice on how to advance my skills or maybe how to get involved through employment in a developer capacity (meaning how do I enter at a novice level?). I recently completed a beginner's level course called 'Personal Oracle' and plan on taking a PL/SQL class next, and eventually taking some C, C++, or Java programming. Any thoughts or advice in that respect?
    Any help is greatly appreciated,

The "Untitled Document" showing up in a search is likely caused by the site being indexed before you set the page title. Since you now have info in youre <title>, it will repair itself in the search once the search engine indexes your site again.
I would expect it to show correctly within 2-4 weeks, though there isn't a set amount of time. It could happen faster or take longer.

  • Black background affect letters on top

    Hi folks,
Still a rookie I am, using Ai (CS6).
I've produced a poster I'm fairly happy with, but black background is affecting red and green type on top of the black...
Possibly one hint towards a solution is that I have one photo with a transparency and the lettering that is on top of that transparency isn't affected by the black background.
The transparency was started by creating a cut-out of a mugshot in Ps CS6, using the magnetic tool, previously creating a transparent background layer.
Anyway, the long and the short is, if a tiff photo transparent background can keep out the black background, how can I create a transparent layer with similar properties?
    Many thanks

You can actaully use a copy of the photo to create the transapranecy on another object. Selct teh opbject and the phot on top, then tranparanecy palette >> Make opacity mask, what is is white in the photo will show, what is black will be transparaent, gray wil be semitransparent accordingly.
You can use invert mask to invert the white/black results.
Without a ascreenshto thsi si the best advice I acn give, you can edit your original photo in phothsop to make a grayscale version for making purposes.
