Removing data files - simple question

Suppose tablespace dropped without INCLUDING. is there anything wrong to remove ifile from OS?
Thanks.

No. You can remove the data files manually from the server if you did not include "INCLUDING CONTETNS AND DATAFILES" in the DROP TABLESPACE command.

  • Reading Files (simple question)

    I'm doing some homework (and no, I'm not just looking for a handout answer, I just need a simple question answered) and I was wondering about how to read a word and evaluate if the word is the same as another word. I want to do this from a .txt file using the Scanner. I know I have to read the file and use while(ifp.hasNext()) but how do I evaluate it word by word? If there's anything else you need or if I'm asking the wrong question, let me know.

    Is there any other way to read through a file other than nextLine? I know there's probably a simpler answer, but the only way I could think of doing it is storing the next line as a String and trying to find the specified word in the string. Not only am I not sure how to do that, I imagine there's a better way. Should I be evaluating it a different way?
    Edit: I was looking at the javadoc on the Scanner class and I saw the findInLine method. We definitely didn't use this in our class, but is that what I should use?

  • How to remove data file from System tablespace

    Hi All,
    I have wrongly added data file in SYSTEM tablespace, now I want remove it. I have tried to set datafile offline but it is giving me the error system tableapce can not set offline. so please help me. I am working Oracle 10g .
    thanks in advance
    sv

    In 10gR2, you can drop a datafile from tablespace, as long it's empty (and of course not the last one):
    ALTER TABLESPACE tbs_03 DROP DATAFILE 'tbs_f04.dbf';
    Otherwise, there's no direct way to get rid of the file. You can just shrink it and move (i.e. "rename") it another location. For a non-system tablespace, move of all segments to another tablespace (and later renaming it) would be an option, but this of course won't work with system tablespace.

  • Removing data files issue? Need your guidance

    Hello All,
    I have a critical situation out here....
    I have got one tablespace (say TableSpaceOne). This tablespace have 20 Datafiles.The total size of the tablespace is 32GB.
    There are 7 different tables using this tablespace.
    One of thses 7 tables is occupying maximum space (29GB)
    I want to remove this table and also I want to release the space i.e. other six tables are occupying only 1 to 3GB.
    What strategy should I follow?
    Please guide
    Thanks in advance
    HImanshu

    Hi,
    Thanks for the questionare.
    I need to drop the BIG table and recreate it in some other tablespace. But for the present tablespace, there are multiple datafiles which are belonging to various object.
    What I thought as solution is:
    1. Export other object which I want to keep.
    2. Drop the tablespace including contents and datafiles.
    3. Create the tablespace with appropriate datafile
    4. Import the objects in to the tablespace.
    5. Create another tablespace
    6. Create the big table into the newly created tablespace
    I am ready to loss the data from the big table.
    Is my approach correct?
    I hope I have answered your question.
    Thanks

  • Re: add-ons. Just a simple question I couldn't find an answer to. Is the term "uninstall" equivalent to "remove the software from the computer"?

    I downloaded a You Tube downloader, and expected an icon to come up when You Tube was playing, according to a friend's advice.
    Since this didn't happen I assumed the download didn't work, or was an old version that doesn't work anymore. I wanted to just get rid of it and try another downloader.
    I went to Tools--> Add-ons--> and clicked on the downloaded software and saw the 2 options [Disable] and [Uninstall]. The terminology is unclear, as I've always thought once software resides on your computer you can install it or uninstall it without erasing it from the computer.
    A simple question that seems obvious except to someone who wants to be very precise and sure. Basically "does [Uninstall] mean erase from the computer"?
    Thanks

    With Firefox extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) you have two possibilities. You can disable an extension if you do not want to use it now, but want to keep it. Or you can uninstall an extension and remove it from the computer. Note that uninstalling an extension still leaves prefs in about:config (prefs.js) and possibly files in the profile folder that will be reused in case you decide to reinstall an extension at a later time.

  • Simple Question - Data Import

    Hi,
    i have a simple question. Is it wise to change our actual import scenarios for input data from systems out of sap to XI?
    Today we have the scenario that data from outer systems will send per ftp to a special directory. After that a report will transform the data into a batchinput. The btci will send per rfbibl into the system. Now we have a huge number of such reports. Will it now be better to change to XI, which we use perhaps for MDM?
    Xi could take the file from ftp-srever maps the fields an will send per bapi to sap.
    Is it a quite simple scenario or is batchinput still the better way.

    Hi,
    If you have a scenario where you have different file formats , which needs to be converted and then send to different systems based on some conditions , then suggested is XI usage.
    However, also if you already have XI installed and running for the MDM system , then you can think of routing all messages through XI.  It may make sense to use one system for all routing and data conversion puposes.
    Hope this view helps.

    Do I need to point iPhoto to this new location?
    Thanks!

    Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
    A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
    A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
    Assuming a Managed Library:
    Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

    not sure where to look for this, but its a simple question
    I just want to get a jbutton (from a jFrame)to open a local htm page eg:
    When pressing the button open:
    C:\Documents and Settings\****\My Documents\profile.htm
    - Open this with any browser
    any pointers to look in the right direction, couldn't find it with search
    I dont want to use a JEditorPane to display the htm, just open any browser

    I also wont be able to use it to open an local file which will be set up differently on each computer:
    C:\\Documents and Settings\\***\\My Documents\\JavaProjX\\Preview\\profile.htmI want to use just: Preview\\profile.htm so it opens from the same location with different users, but
    try { Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\IEXPLORE.EXE Preview\\profile.htm");}
         catch(IOException e) { System.out.println("could open IE");}opens: http://preview/profile.htm (incorrect location)
    I have just found I can use System.getProperty("user.dir"); to get the location of my program (i think)

  • Simple Question: How to search for a date value in SELECT

    Probabily a simple question, but in a SELECT statement, how do you do a search for a date value in the WHERE clause?
    example:
    Select * From Example
    Where date = 01/01/2001
    I know its not as simple as that, but what change has to occur to make it do what that example implies?
    Thanks In Advance.

    If you want to avoid the conversion part(to_date) you will need to specify the date in the format as ur nls date format.so the same query might not work if you change ur nls date format.
    so it is advisable to give it in general format.
    ie where date_col=to_date(01-01-2000,'dd-mm-yyyy')

  • Simple Question Calling methods from Java files through JSP without JVM

    Hi.
    I've got a simple question (forigve my newbieness)...
    If I'm running Tomcat can I exectue a method in a compiled Java file from a JSP page without having the JVM installed on the server?
    Any thoughts or additional comments would be appreciated.
    Many thanks.

    No... but that's because you can't run Tomcat without
    a JVM installed on the server.
    If you are running Tomcat, you are running a JVM for
    the JSP pages to run in, in which case, yes, the JSP
    pages can call the other Java code... as long as it's
    in the classpath.Thanks a lot for the replies.
    So just to check, if I sign up with a hosting company that offers Tomcat then the JVM will be installed on the server and I can call other Java code as long as it's in the classpath?
    I just want to make sure before I sign up with a hosting company =D
    Thanks again!

  • Remove Windows 8 users but keep data files

    i am preparing upgrade from win8 to 8.1
    all users are defaulted at another drive (d drive), not system drive
    so i have to remove all the users in order to have upgrade without a need for clean reinstallation
    this requirement make me (other system admin in the world) very troublesome
    i have to be very careful when dealing user data files.
    in official way, the user is deleted and all his files are deleted too.
    is it possible to keep the user data files?  the files size may be over 2xxG.
    i do not wish to copy files before removal of user account.  it wastes lots of time.
    i tried to rename the user profile folder and remove user registry under profilelist registry.
    it seems not Ok.   any suggestion please.  Thanks.

    Hi,
    As far as I know, if you have changed User folder location to other drive, you may encounter problem during upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. It is probably upgrade failed.
    Actually, I still suggest you make a back up for your User Profile then upgrade your system. Or if Windows  upgrade is unnecessary, I would like you keep using Windows 8 to avoid potential problem.

  • Outlook 2003 old Data File can't be removed and can't set up up iCloud sync with Outlook

    I had an issue with Google Calendar Sync after installing iCloud so I tried to remove my iCloud install.  When I go into Outlook 2003 it shows a Data File that exists with the iCloud name, but when I click on remove it comes back with "Äre You Sure....", I click yes and then an error states "The Requested Operation Failed." Then I try to click on the Settings Tab and I get the error "Än Unknown Error Occured, error code 0x8004011c".  The Open Folder tab is grayed out.  If I click on the E-mail tab, no iCloud email exists.  Hence something is lingering but I cannot get rid of it.
    When I go into the iCloud Control Panel the Mail, Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with Outlook is not ticked.  If I try to tick it and then apply the changes, it goes through the set-up for a few seconds and then returns an error box entitled Outlook Setup for iCloud with an error message Outlook Setup Error with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside of it.  The options are "report", "try again" and "cancel" - all which are useless and don't do anything.
    Anyone have any ideas on how I can remove this Data File that supposedly exists within Outlook.  I have searched the c: drive and there is nothing by the name it states.

    Sorry...I have been looking at this for too long.  It is actually Outlook 2007.
    I actually have already removed the calendar, tasks, etc from Outlook as your last paragraph outlines, but it doesn't help.
    I have hoping to avoid the uninstall / reinstall, but I was leaning the same way.
    Thanks for your response.  Let me know if you think of anything else.

  • File reporter questions - pulling data from db / files for o

    I've been trying to find a way to query or pull file and path info for volumes from the file reporter databases without needing to give access to the file reporter app. I have an outside group that I need to provide the file structure to, but don't need to give all of the info to, and need to provide it in the form of a text file. I could script this out, but if file reporter does this also, I don't see the point in duplicating the data out there.
    In reviewing the content of the sqlite databases it doesn't appear that the actual file system info. I see a lot of references to what I think may be files in the directory structure that the databases are located in. looking over the logs and debug files in these directories they look like they may contain what I am looking for, but I'm not sure what can be used to open or extract the data from them. Does anyone know what I would use to open or extract the zcf files located in them?
    so I've made a few attempts at trying to figure out the format these are in, but know they are not sqlite data... not zip or gzip... but definitely some sort of data file.

    rbgnr111,
    It sounds like you might be better off exporting a report which suits
    your needs as a CSV file (which can be done from within File Reporter)
    and stripping out unnecessary 'columns' of metadata after the fact. This
    would be a great deal simpler than extracting the data from the database.

  • Simple question - How to find date

    Hi Experts,
    I have a simple question on date. Suppose today is Jan 4, 2010. I have to find out Jan 1, 2007 using Java code.
    I have used following code. This code will work for 2010 and 2011 properly. However it won't work properly after Feb 28, 2012. Please see "dayInMillis*1096 " portion of code. Here 365365366 = 1096.
    How I can avoid this hard coding. Do we have any simple way to get Jan 1, 2007 even without using following code.
         Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance();
         int lastDate = calendar.getActualMaximum(Calendar.DATE);
         int firstDate = calendar.getActualMinimum(Calendar.DATE);
         int todayDate = calendar.get(Calendar.DATE);
         int dayofyear = calendar.get(Calendar.DAY_OF_YEAR);
         java.sql.Date currentdate = new java.sql.Date(System.currentTimeMillis());
         long dayInMillis = 1000 * 60 * 60 *24; //1 day
         wdContext.currentContextElement().setFromDate(new Date(System.currentTimeMillis() - dayInMillis*1096 - ((dayofyear-1)*dayInMillis)));
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
    I am not pretty much clear with your question, whatever i have understood, i have found a way to get the previous date given the current date.
    Below is the code for the same.
                           Calendar now = Calendar.getInstance();//Jan 4, 2010
           String nowDateStr = DateFormat.getDateInstance().format(now.getTime());
           System.out.println("date now : " +nowDateStr);
           now.add(Calendar.YEAR, -3);//2007
           now.add(Calendar.DATE, -3);//1st
           now.add(Calendar.MONTH, 0);//No change in month, Jan.
           String changedDateStr = DateFormat.getDateInstance().format(now.getTime());
           System.out.println("date changed : " +changedDateStr);
