Renamed Service Request List Items revert back to originals after an upgrade.

For two upgrades now (From RTM to SP1 and from SP1 to R2), lists that were changed from their defaults in the service request form have reverted to their defaults after the upgrade.  Has anyone seen this behavior with their upgrade?  I used the
unsealed MP that stores the new list items and changed ones, to revert the lists back but I would like to know how to avoid this for the next upgrade.

Misha, 'what could break' is entirely dependent on what else is in that management pack, but displaynames are relatively innocuous. As long as you export (don't DELETE it, just export it) then re-import that same MP, it
should be safe, but I'm not familiar with what exists in that MP.
Stefan, "IsDefault" doesn't seem to make a difference. I have IsDefault=true for all of my ENU language packs (and that's the only language pack I have). But after an upgrade, my custom displaynames are still wiped out. It was likely the re-import
that reapplied your displayname changes.
One of these days I'd like to confirm this behavior :)

You actually can.  If you call in to apple and ask for lion, they will email you an app store code that can be redeemed.

  • Background color of TestStand 2012 User Interface Reverts Back to Default After Changing

I changed the background color and other properties of the Execution and Sequence TestStand Controls in the TestStand 2012 User Interface example code. When I execute the Top Level.vi the TestStand User Controls revert back to their default colors/properties. I saw this problem in the list of TestStand 2010 known issues, is it also a known problem in 2012?

    Hey kelsayd,
I just tried changing the color of the user interface controls in my user interface (from TestStand 2012) and saw the same behavior. I believe this is because the controls are ActiveX controls and do not permit the same level of customization as LabVIEW controls. I did find this KnowledgeBase article, which mentions the issue and gives one possible solution to the issue: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4E40FA5AEAF3937B86256E89007C74C4?OpenDocument
Hopefully that will help show how you can set this up, and let us know if you have any further questions about it!

Well, so much for using the "Maps" app on my overseas vacation starting next week.  I wonder how soon they will fix that?

  • Reverting back to PAGES after exporting as PDF

I created a document in PAGES and exported it as a PDF. I found errors and need to put it back into PAGES to make it editable.  Is this possible?  If not should I find the original PAGES document in my TIME MACHINE?

There are apps available on the Mac App Store that say they can convert PDFs to Pages. Here is the result of a search I did on AppShopper.com. There are fewer listed in a search on MacUpdate.com, but most of them do allow you to download a demo.
I've used PDF to Word on several occasions with good results. I had gotten at a discount some time back. I see that the same developer has a program that can convert PDFs to multiple formats. You can download a demo from their website.

  • Can you revert back to Lion after installing Mountain Lion?

Since I have bought ML basically all my software (Saf,Mail,iTunes etc..) is not operating correctly. Safari drops out if I stop using after about 15min and the only way to get it working again is to do a hard (forced) re-start and this is constantly happening. Also when opening some applications the icon's just constantly bounce and do not open. Is there a way to re-install Lion and get my money back as I have had enough of not being able to use my 2010 iMac as it was designed to be.

Unless you have a backup made right before installing ML, it's not an easy task. You would have to erase the hard drive, reinstall the previous system, reinstall all your apps and then import data from somewhere. And some data formats have changed - Mail, for example, has had slight changes to its mailboxes in both the last two major system upgrades. The only way to import messages that aren't still stored on the server into an older version of Mail is one at a time.
Since your problems are not normal, I would recommend troubleshooting instead. Start with Understanding upgrade nightmares.

  • Enable Instant-On reverts back to checked after it has been unchecked.

Has anyone figured this one out? I asked this some time ago as well. Last I heard was that this option was only for streaming servers, but I would think if it were unchecked, it ought to remain so no matter what it was for. The option to play immediately or to choose a long delay is no longer available either - it always goes back to short delay.

It is only used by files from streaming servers. I usually only find a few such files each year. Apple Keynotes are the most common ones and a few hours after the "live" version a non streaming version is offered.
Snow Leopard (OS 10.6) doesn't even have the setting anymore.
You can tell a true "streaming" file by its URL as most begin with rtsp://

  • IOS 5.1 3G toggle reverts back to 3G after turning off/on the phone?

After updating to iOS 5.1 on the iPhone 4S, did anyone realise you can't turn off 3G indefiitely? When I toggle 3G off and when I power cycle the phone, the 3G option is turned on again. Is it normal or am I the only one experiencing this issue?
    Thanks!

    Same identical problem.
I tried even to erase and reset the settings and nothing changed.
I sent a feedback using the feedback form, filling it as a bug report, hope they solve it soon and
NOT REMOVING the 3g toggle again as it is very useful if you live with an area with unstable 3g.

  • How do I get my iLife back for free after Lion Upgrade?

I upgraded from the Snow Leopard OS to Lion OS (using the thumb drive Apple sales) about a week ago, using a "Clean Install"; after doing which, I found that I couldn't find a lot of the app.s my wife and I downloaded. Our iLife collection is the only set I am truely upset about.
I called apple technical support and the lady asked me to find the Application CD that came with my iMac when I ordered it from Apple. I thought she would know what she was talking about and I ask a good deal of questions before using the CD. All the questions of which were answered to my satisfaction; however, I started the install of the CD and I got off the phone with the tech.supt. After about an hour, install done, iMac re-started, and my iLife app.s are no where to be found.
And!!!...My computer is now doing this freeze thing...where we have to do a Forced Power down to get it unfrozen!
Please help someone. I just want to get my wife's iphoto and iMovie back that she loves to tinker with (without having to pay for it all over again).

Do you work for Apple? So what you are telling me: it doesn't matter if I payed for it once, Apple is so low tech or just could care less about its customers that I am going to have to come out of pocket again. What is the point of the 90 day technical support that Apple offers with the Lion upgrade when it is purchased if the technical support just says...sorry, we can't help you with this problem.?
I am going to have to come out of pocket for a lot more than just the iLife collection that Apple has a copy of my purchase, which validates my request, yet Apple is not going to help me out. If that is the case, this would have to be the worst customer service I have ever gotten.
You are correct that it is my fault that my apps are gone because I did the clean install and did not think to back up my app.s, but is Apple hurting that much for money that it needs to squeeze money out of people that delete software by mistake? I have gotten two app.s for free from other small time app writers to put back on this computer after the Lion upgrade just by emailing them what happened and my info.
What about the freezing problem my iMac is having after I performed the task Apple tech supt told me to, which didn't work and created a new problem. You didn't address the freezing issue. You stating what I already said and adding a snooty comment to the end of it, while not offering any real help or advice pertaining to my questions, has been a waste of my time and an inconvenience to me that was not need. How about you think next time, before you type.
If anyone else would like to point out that I messed up or that I have no choice but to pay again, please hold your comments and allow those who might have a suggestion or answer to post, so I can get the help I asked for. Thank you, and thank you QuickTimeKirk for the speedy reply.

  • How can I get my photos back from icloud after an upgrade?

So I recently upgraded my iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5s last Wednesday. I had made sure to back it up with icloud 3 times on 3 different days prior to this. I received my new phone and it was backing up perfectly. Till I realized that my 1,500 photos hadn't uploaded and my phone wasn't letting me take pictures. It had only let me download about 300. I am devastated by the loss of these pictures. I have restored my phone multiple times and it still downloads the same pictures. I have no other problems. I called Apple and they said that the icloud only backed up these 300 pictures and my other ones were lost. But yet there were no signs of my backup being incomplete. How can I get my pictures back?

    Hi sadie,
When you did the backup, were the 1500 pictures all on your camera roll? Or were they on other Albums?
iCloud is not a storage device for your photos. You should be importing them to a computer or uploading them to a cloud storage facility like DropBox or Flickr.
Each time you do a backup of to iCloud, it creates a backup of what is on your phone at that moment in time. So, if you had some photos on one backup, but not the other, you would only be able to "recover" the photos from one of those backups. Photos in iCloud are not aggregative.
Also, the iCloud backup of photos only includes those photos or videos in the Camera Roll. Photos in any other album are not backed up:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12519?viewlocale=en_US
If you had PhotoStream turned on, then the last month's-worth of PhotoStream, or the last 1000 PhotoStream photos would also still be viewable.
Can you tell us where those 1500 photos were located when you did your backup?
Sorry that you lost your photos. Take a look at DropBox in the App Store, or check out Flickr. If you aren't importing your photos on a regular basis to a computer, then these would be your best bet to protect your photos going forward.

  • Calendar items not appearing in Mailbox after agent upgrade to8.0.2 HP2

We recently upgraded our agents from different flavors of 7.x to version 8.0.2 HP2. They are all running on NetWare 6.5 SP5-8.
Some users have been using their Mailbox to keep Calendar items readily available such that when a new appointment was put on their Calendar an item would also appear in the Mailbox. It seems that this is not longer working that way since we upgraded our agents.
    Anyone else encountered this?

One more question...should this display ALL appointments, or only today's? The user that wanted it isn't seeing ALL of his appointments, only today's.

  • How to delete i.e. clear the pending access requests list from Access request page in SharePoint 2013

    Hi Team,
I am site collection admin of a SP13 site. The issue is we have added some of the users manually after we got requests from them for site access. But this has left those users as pending on Access requests page. We don't want that list to stack up.
I can not decline those requests as those users will be notified with declined mail. I searched for clearing the list of those pending requests but did't find any guidelines for this.
Is there any way I can do this. Any help is appreciated thanks in advance

You might consider using PowerShell to remove unwanted items from the "Access Requests" list of the web site.  This list holds all of the access requests including pending, declined and approved.  The following example demonstrates removing
the first item from the list.  Please note, I'm not aware whether or not there are any negative side effects to removing items from this list so doing so would be at your own risk.
    $web = get-spweb https://yoursharepointsite
    $list = $web.lists["Access Requests"]
    $list.items[0].delete()

  • Service request

Ok, so my Nano stopped responding completely. Nothing would help it. No amount of resets or plugging into other computers helped at all. Totally unresponsive blank LCD etc. Wouldn't appear as a drive, charge, or log onto iTunes. Nothing.
Anyhows, after a day of waiting to see if anything happened (and it didn't - million attempted resets in and out of dock later) we sent off a service request. Apparently would take two months (euro engraving) to get back once sent. No choice though really.
Today (after 2 days of nothing working) I just thought I'd give it one more reset. And a simple out of battery icon appeared. Excellent. Plug it into a dock and everything powers up. Music works great, and it's now showing that it is fully charged. I'm willing to believe it is a very rare occurance (totally stuck and reset doesn't help at all). So I'll try it for a week or so intensively and then forget all about the service.
Anyways, I also got today the service request box to send back the iPod. Obviously I at the very least want to wait a good week or two to see if the problem keeps happening, and may not even need a service anymore (mainly because of the two month wait). But apon reading the paperwork that came with the service box, it basically says "If the defective part or product is not returned to Apple within 10 business days, you will be charged for it's value". Erm, does this mean that if I don't return the Nano then I will have to pay Apple the price of the Nano again? Fair enough I can understand paying a small charge for sending out the box and not using it (although it was Apple's brand new product that was utterly useless for a period of time with no fix), but having to pay the full price again?
So basically can someone help me on this. Who can I contact to either stop the service, or at least extend the 10 days? Or can I just send back an empty box and leave it at that? At the end of the day I don't want to be without the Nano for 2 months (was quicker to recieve the order when Nano first came out) if it was a one of glitch.
    Cheers

The "If the defective part or product is not returned to Apple within 10 business days, you will be charged for it's value" literally was copied from the paperwork that came with the box. What it doesn't quite explain (might have missed the small print) is whether the "value" is the cost of the postage, or the cost of the replacement for the defective part.
Doesn't matter either way as the Nano is going back. Hopefully will get one that works this time. Out of interest, I assume your warranty stays the same (I still have 10 months or so), so presumedly if your Nano kept going wrong (which from the evidence on this forum could very well happen) and it kept taking upto 2 months to get back (3 weeks for engraved version I was assured on phone last night), then you could easily run out of warranty within a few replacements, without ever using your Nano. Fun.
    Cheers

  • My IPhone 5s won't let me edit screenshots even after duplicating them as prompted? Just reverts back to the original?

Why will my iPhone not let me edit screenshots even when I make a duplicate copy it just reverts back to original

i think its the assistive touch bc i got that when my home button broke and my lock button is also broken and now it wont let me slid the unlock button, and i shut it down then turned it back on so it automatically showed the keypad and it would only let me press 3 and thats it. i also read a few other topics about it not unlocking and they all used the assistive touch.
