Render Que??

I bring in a sequence from final cut and do some touching up in color. but when i go to render the clips it doesnt render the right in and out point. it renders the entire tape that the clip came from
How do I fix the in an out in color so it doesn't render the whole tape but just the in and out of that tape. thanks guys

Just "add handles", located at the bottom of the prefs. While at first, it didn't register... I mean, add handles when Color is rendering the entire clip? Well, I finally did it and wala! About 90% of the clips in my render que were updated to render only the clip + the handles. Why the other 10% didn't work I have yet to figure out. Next time, I'm just going to consolidate in FCP and be done with this little Color bug.

  • Setting a New Default "Output To" Template in the Render Que Does Not Work

I'm trying to change the default "Output To" template in the Render Que to not show the timecode for a PSD file, but when I change the default template by clicking on "Custom" from the dropdown menu and using the checkbox to set a preset as the default in the "File Name and Location Template", nothing changes.  The next PSD item I add to the render que still uses the previous template (i.e. it adds the Frame) and doesn't honor the new default I just set.
Just submitted a bug report, as well.
    Using AE 2014.1.1 (13.1.1.3)
    Windows 8.1 Pro

I'm not surprised either of you is having problems creating a new output module and making it the default.  That's not where you do it.
Go to Edit>Templates>Output Module.  Make a new one.  Select one to use as a default.  Select a different one if you want a different default.  You can have a default for both stills and movies.  You can do the same thing for Render Settings.  It's the same basic drill.
Since this is basic AE 101-type stuff, I bet you'd get a lot out of these how-to's from the pros:

  • Adobe AE CS3 Render Que and Output Modules

    Ok Buddies
Using Vista 64 with AE CS3
I Imported a complete project (Audio and video)  from Premiere CS3 to AE CS3 , i Added all my Fx and etc, then i went to Render Que and tried to make my final AVI , I also installed Lagarith Lossless Codec on my system, but rendering is all done with NO AUDIO
then under Render Que i found this section called " Output Module" by default it was set to Lossless, i am not sure if that is referring to lagarith codec or something else , and under the "Output Audio" is was set to OFF
so i changed the output module to Microsoft DV NTSC 48khz
is that mean that i no longer use Lagarith as my codec or that lossless was for audio ?
or what is the correct way to set my audio channel ON !!
    Thanks

    Thanks once again
ok so that was very helpful and it did  work and now i have the audio as well , i wonder what that Preset "Lossless" is used for  ? I mean the final output is not compressed (5 mins song is now 6gb) , maybe its used for Encore or other programs that make DVDs ? so that compression is used only once when making the actual DVD.
the other thing that is very interesting is that i had only 3 layers of video, but with many cuts or clips, now that I imported a Premiere CS3 project into the AE CS3
, i have around 200 layers, i guess one layer per cut or so...
Is there anyway to set the layers in order or a way , for example layer 1 is the clip1 and layer 2 is the clip 2 and ect...
I make it a bit more clear here :
let's say i am working on layer 1 , which is the intro of the song and layer 2 is beginning of the song and layer 3 is the end of the song, so is there any way i could place the correct layers one after the other ?
because right now let's say i am working on one the clips and its layer 6 and the next clip is layer 189, is there a way to put these layers one after the other , so i don't have to look for the next clip !!
    Thanks again !!

  • Yosemite 10.10 and After Effects CC - Opens, but only the render que.

Downloaded the Yosemite beta 2 the other day, not thinking about how all programs would work or not. So, all adobe programs open just fine, except for After effects. I've heard others having problems opening it - my problem is bit different.
After effects opens up, but almost all menu options is greyed out, and nothing is clickable. The only window that opens is the render que. Is there any way to fix this? I can't find anything on google.
Another problem is that the ray tracing doesn't seem to find my GPU. I got my Geforce GT 750M included in that Ray tracing list file, if that makes any difference.

You have opened After Effects in Render Engine mode.
Don't double-click the icon in the application folder named Adobe After Effects Render Engine.
Remove any file named ae_render_only_node.txt in your Documents folder, as detailed here:

  • Render Que Output - Black Bars on Video (image)

When I render out my video for some reason there are black horizontal bars on the sides of the video output. I assume this has to do with some settings that I am unaware of.
Please click to enlarge image below to show render settings and final video output

I am still confused as to why 1920x1200 doesnt work, thats a full screen size resolution?
It may be fullscreen on your system, but it's not HD. 1920x1200 is a 16:10 computer desktop ratio which has no counterpart in the video world. That's all it comes down to: If you want to avoid such issues, your need to adhere to established production standards and that will be even more critical once you start working for clients that need to use this stuff for "real" TV or you need to excahnge projects with otehr people...

  • AME or After Effects "add to render que"

Seeing how Adobe Media Encoder CS5 is now 64 bit, should I use that to export my projects instead of After Effects render engine?  Or is that 64 bit as well and won't matter?

There are pros and cons to each. The standalone AME application has two-pass encoding, so some formats can be compressed more effectively. Also, you can be encoding in AME and still working in After Effects.
What, exactly, are you trying to do. If you answer that, it's easier to guide you one way or the other.
See "Rendering and exporting overview" and Adobe Media Encoder Help.

  • Make Movie vs. Add to Render Que

Is there any difference in selectioning Make Movie vs. Add to Render Queue from the Compostion Menu.?

Make Movie, when used for the first time after AE is opened, gives you the opportunity to name the output file and pick a location.
Add to Render Cue, when used for the first time, does not pick a location for the movie or ask for one until you specify it in the Render Cue.
Once you've picked the location to save the render there is no difference in the behavior. I've never understood why there are two menu items that do the same thing.

  • Render HDV Comp to DV AVI (AE CS3)

I have a comp I made with an HDV clip - the comp is set to the HDV specs.
I want to export this comp from After Effects to a DV AVI - 720 x 480 Widescreen (1.2 Image Aspect Ratio).
Can someone tell me what settings I need to change in the render que to accomplish this?
    Thanks
    FOO

    Thanks for the response guys.
I have one more question. If my Comp is set to DV Widescreen (720 x 480 - 1.2) and I want to render it in square pixels - how can I change the size of the output when going to quicktime? I know with Adobe Media Encoder from Premiere Pro CS3 I can select the specific pixels - however I'm not sure how to do it using the render queue in AE CS3.
I'd like to export it to 640 x 360 pixels.
    Thanks!

  • Red raw file render errors on AE Creative Cloud

I have a 30 second 4K clip shot in 29.97 which I imported into After Effects for chroma keying. I applied Keylight and overlaid it over a background still file and got a very clean key. Then I added a little camera move zooming in slightly on the composition. The problem arose when I exported it to the Render Que and rendered it out as a single file on my MacPro.  Upon inspection of the rendered Quicktime file, it played beautifully for about 10 seconds then one or two frames switched to about 1/4th resolution then back to full resolution. This happens 5 or 6 times during the 30 seconds. I tried rendering it out in various codecs including a tiff sequence but the same problem happens often in different places in the file. I am baffled as to what to do to get a clean file. My only work around is to render it out several times and combine the successfully rendered parts of the various clips to get one one complete usable clip. I am sure this is not what Adobe had in mind. Can anyone help?
You can view the full clip at the following link: YouTube  All the jumps and jitters are in the original file rendered from After Effects. The titles were done later in Premier. the two frames below show you the exact difference between two successive frames in the rendered image sequence from After Effects.

I am using 2014 but I just downloaded the latest patch and am rerunning the render again to see if it makes a difference. One difference I noticed right off the bat is that it was letting me see the comp in full resolution in my preview composition screen. this is something that only worked intermittently in the last version of AE.

  • After Effects Audio Output Causes Render To Hang Then "Output Module Failed"

So I have been working on this video for a few weeks now, no special effects just 3D layers and text.
I had set it to render Thursday afternoon and it finished Friday night after I left work.
So today I came into work played the video and I realized I didn't render the audio. (NICE!)
So I reset the render que (didnt change anything but render audio settings) and the render
doesn't even start, it just stays at "Stage: Compressing and Writing" for a few minutes then gives me
the good ole' output module has failed.
Ive already restarted AE, and my comp, I also purged the memory.
Im running windows 7 (64 bit) with 8gb RAM and Intel Core i7-3770S CPU @ 3.10ghz
It is definitely the audio output, I tried rendering without it and it started up just fine.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

just updated to 11.0.2 and still nothing
I click Render and it just says rendering but nothing changes
not even time elapsed or est. remaining
just stays on compressing and writing and my ram used doesnt even start going up

  • Renders very slow to start, even longer to actually render

So I upgraded to the new macbook pro with retina display and AE CS6 runs solid as a whole but I am encountering a problem when it comes time to render my comps. I'll send a comp to the render que, adjust my settings for what I need outputted (genreally a ProRes) and then hit render. This is where my problem begins. It can take from 2-10 minutes before I will see any progress started on the render and when the process actually does start, it is painfully slow. If I take the same project into Media Encoder and outut it from there the render happens right away and the render time is acceptable for what I am outputting.  This is also a hit or miss issue, some projects I can render out of AE no problem others massive headaches.  Also complexity of a project doesn't have any bearing either, it just seems like AE is just being picky as to which projects it will render and which it won't.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • AE 2014 Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously issues

This problem is two fold and I've experienced it for years.  Now I'm using a much faster system that is handicapped by not being able to use multiple cores.  I had hoped that by now this would just work.
First, when using multiframe rendering AE often hangs attempting to initialize background processes.  As often as one RAM previews this can be quite a problem since it grinds all progress to a halt.  The solution is often restarting AE.  Checking Activity Monitor during this time shows that Adobe QT32 server is non-responsive and a whole line of the AE background rendering processes doing nothing.  I have not found a common element in projects that experience this issue, it can happen just with text on a solid.
Secondly, when using multiframe rendering an entire sequence can ram preview, but then disappear as soon as it finishes.  Often after this issue the first issue will pop-up.
    A little about my setup:
    Late 2013 Mac Pro 8-Core
    64 GB Ram
    2x AMD FirePro D700
    OS X 10.9.4
AE CC 2014 Updated to the latest patch
    Settings:
52 GB RAM available for AE
Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously - ON
Only for Render Que - OFF
RAM per CPU - 4 GB (problem persists when set to 6 GB)
Until this feature actually works reliably I'll have to go back single frame rendering, which is a bit like owning a Ferrari and having a transmission stuck in first gear.

  • After Effects Won't Render Using H.264

OK, I am trying to use H.264 codec but I keep getting an error and I can't figure out why.  I select (Composition > Add to Render Que), then I select "Output Module > Custom and select "Lossless" and select H.264 and then get the message below:
"After Effects: For reliable output with H.264 compression, please choose it directly from the Output Module Format menu instead of via QuickTime. (44 :: 81)"
So I then did as it said and selected the drop down arrow beside Output Module and then selected "Custom" and then selected H.264. and then I get the same message:
"After Effects: For reliable output with H.264 compression, please choose it directly from the Output Module Format menu instead of via QuickTime. (44 :: 81)"
An idea what's going on? Why does it give me this message when I am doing it the way it is telling me? How can I render using H.264?
    Thanks

Are you using the trial version of After Effects?
    from "Supported output formats":
"The free trial version of Adobe After Effects software does not include some features that depend upon software licensed from parties other than Adobe. For example, mocha for After Effects, some effect plug-ins, and some codecs for encoding MPEG formats are available only with the full version of Adobe After Effects software."
H.264 is an MPEG format (MPEG-4, part 10).

  • Send to FCP always needs a render

Hi, I'm working with some ProRes 422 (HQ) footage in Color and I click the add all button and begin the render, when I select send back to FCP it says not all your clips are rendered even though all my clips have completed next to them in the render que.
Once back in FCP I have a green line and have to render again. Why is this occurring?
    All latest FCS3 updates.

Hi, thanks for the answers. OK the 'not all clips are rendered' question is answered as I did have slugs in my timeline.
Both apps are definitely set as ProRes 422 (HQ) but maybe the res is changing because my footage comes in at 1440x1080 but comes back from Color as 1920x1080, there is no option inside Color for 1440x1080. So maybe that is why? Though I only get the green render bar over my sent back footage sometimes, not all the time and it's always the same camera being used and imported in the exact same way.

  • Render Queue order

This has bugged be for a very long time. Is there a way to have the current or lastest file put to the top of the render que instead of the bottom? I always have to use the mouse to pull down the slider bar, just to access and change the settings. I end up with lots of files in there, and always have to delete the old files for quick access to the new ones.
    Currently using AF 5.0
it might be simple, so open to your help.
    thx
