Renewing Flash Access Certs when a HSM is used

Hi
our operations team came across a potential problem in the process of renewing Flash Access certs for
When a HSM is not used: old certs are referenced in the FA config file so that they can be used to decrypt content that has been encrypted with the old certs. We have done this in the past and works fine.
When a HSM IS used: the FA config file needs to be able to reference old certs stored on the HSM. It looks like the FA application is unable to do this. It is not possible to remove the private key from the HSM and so it is not an option to store the old certs locally on the license server (not that we would want to do that anyway).
I’m not sure if it’s an option to point FA to the HSM to look for the certs. Any ideas how this can be done?
thanks

Hi DeclanK,
Take a look at the flashaccess-refimpl.properties file.  The bottom of it should have all sorts of HSM-only configuration settings that you can modify to suit your needs.  You'll see that there are several additional server certificates (ServerCredential.Alias.1=, etc...) that you can set for your license server.  This is where your older certificates go.
HOWEVER, please note that your license server will not work unless you also have a non-expired certificate set (ServerCredential.Alias=).
cheers,
/Eric.

  • Flash CS4 crashing when scrubbing playhead or using certain tools

I am currently having the unfortunate experience of learning Flash Pro as part of my degree program at school. I have been having a problem with the program crashing repeatedly. I have CS4 Web Premium, an educational discount edition, and am using it on an HP pc with an AMD Athlon and Nvidia v-card. I have had problems with it crashing on this computer when using tools such as the deco-tool and sometimes when transforming something. The real problem is when I try to use one of the Dell pc's at school to work on a file I have created at home on the HP. On 4 different machines at school Flash will crash when working on one of these files, especially when scrubbing the playhead on the timeline. The program will crash over and over, to the point where I can't really work on these files at school, which is a huge waste of time. I have heard of problems with corrupt fonts, and restoring preference files but also wanted to see if these problems sound familiar to anyone.

Thanks for your reply. I have the 10.0.2 Flash update on my pc, I'm not sure about the machines at school but I'm guessing they do as well. I also have 6gb of ram, and am running 64bit windows7. The pc's at school are new Dell's running widows7 and I would think they have at least 4gb of ram. I've attached a file that crashed when I scrubbed the playhead on the pc's at school. I don't have that problem at home. Thanks again for your help.

I would check a couple things - whether the Flash CS4 installations (the ones that crash) have been updated to 10.0.2, and secondly what the machine specs are (how much RAM). There were a number of issues (including crashing while scrubbing) that were worked on at great length for the updater.  If the updater has been installed and the machines have more than 2 gigs of ram, it would be great if you could link to a file that crashes while scrubbing so I can take a look.
    Thanks.

  • Flash Access DRM FMP Fails When Authentication Dialog Triggered for Display

    Hi all,
Flash Media Playback is failing in the case when playing a video that has Flash Access DRM that requires display of an authentication dialog.  A sample failing configuration is here:
    http://provenwebvideo.com/codesamples/10/fmp_drm/
Note, the link above includes the same video asset running successfully in Strobe Media Playback 1.0 (alongside to the right).
Also, the link above includes FMP working successfully with a second video that has Flash Access DRM but which does NOT trigger display of an authentication dialog (second video in player in a row below the failing player).
Source on the Flash Access DRM video test assets are from the Flash Access team via the following link:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3144143#3144143
fyi, This is not a showstopper for me.  I am just reporting it as I was surprised that it works with SMP, but fails with current FMP.
    hth,
    g

Wow, Greg, the test page is awesome! I can only wish that all the issues get reported this way!
The issue with DRM content played with http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback.swf is caused by the fact that the FlashMediaPlayback.swf is compiled for the Flash Player 10.0.
I tested your sample with the Flash Media Playback compiled for 10.1 (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/strobe/FlashMediaPlayback_101.swf) and it works fine: http://smpfmp.appspot.com/fmp_drm.html
Note that you need to ask your viewers to upgrade to the latest flash player, since Flash Media Playback doesn't handle this automatically, yet. (we have this feature in the backlog, but it might not fit into our future 1.5 release). Check this for technical details related to this: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/swfobject.html
Does this information help? Is there something that you would expect us to implement or document better?

  • WRT54G2 and WRT54G locks-up (freezes) when blocking web sites using Access Restrictions

I am convinced that a few Linksys routers such as WRT54G2 and WRT54G have a major issue when blocking web sites using Access Restrictions (Internet Access Policy). After a few hours of internet access by 15 wired users the Linksys locks-up and blocks all internet web access. The only solution is to restart the power on the router.
We are currently using a Linksys WRT54G2 v1 (firmware 1.0.04). We upgraded the WRT54G2 v1 firmware to the latest 1.0.04 version which did not resolve the issue.  NOTE: We were previosuly using a a Linksys WRT54G v1.1 (firmware 4.21.1) until the power supply blew a week after we started blocking web sites using Access Restrictions (Internet Access Policy).
Basically, we have a T1 internet connection and a hub connected to the Linksys router. We are trying to block several web sites such as facebook, myspace, etc. for 15 wired users. We do not use wireless connections.
This is the 2nd time it happened with 2 different models.
    Please help ASAP.
    Thank you,
    Lance
(Mod note: Edited post. Some parts off topic.. Thanks!)

Also,  you have already upgrade/re-flash the firmware of your Linksys Router you need to reset and reconfigure your router from scratch. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • Flash Player crashes when losing network connection

My flash player crashes every time i lose internet connection. That happens alot, because the networks i use keep jumping between eachother and they suck, quite frankly, but it's out of my control.
I got alot of tabs up, 24/7, all using flash player, so when it crashes, that sucks.
No, it doesn't crash because of the amount of tabs i have open, or the load on it. It happens when i have only 1 tab open too, barely using flash player ..
So, is there anything i can do about this?
This didn't happen with the older versions of adobe (I mean alot older, don't remember at which version this started happening, this/last year atleast) ..
Im running Windows 7 32 bit. But it happens on my Win XP 32-bit computers and Win 7 64-bit computer too.

So i have the same virus on all my 4 computers?
1 computer has a updated version of the latest Symantech antivirus, and 1 has an updated version of the latest AVG antivius. They should've found a virus if i had one. And i haven't visited any "suspicious" sites, downloaded anything "suspicious", and have all ads blocked .. The chance of it being a virus is equal to zero.
When the computer changes from a network (With connection and internet access) to a different network (With connection and internet access) real quick, then it usually doesn't crash.
But when it changes from a network (With connection and internet access) to a network (With connection, but hotspot, so no internet access before i enter the password and username in a new tab/window) it crashes. Same happens if i simply click "Disconnect" when im on a network.
It doesn't however do that if i go into "Work offline" mode before disconnecting, but it crashes then when i reconnect to a different network, and go back into working online.
This is an adobe problem, no virus.
Happens with both Firefox 3.6, Firefox 4, Google chrome and IE (Whichever version it was i had) ..

  • How can we verify the custom props in (Flash Access) license is there?

We've added custom properties to a FAXS license and we'd like the client (OSMF-based media player) to display it (eg overlay those properties like a watermark over the video). The custom properties were added via "ApplicationDefinedRight" and "ApplicationProperties".

        trace(stringToAppend);
      } catch (e:Error) {
          trace(e.message + "\n when getting the voucher info");
So perhaps maybe there's still something in the server level that could also be the problem. We suspect if the final license object is passed around (not the one embedded in the content), it may not contain the custom properties anymore. It's just a speculation.
Nevertheless, at least you've pointed out that I am looking in the right place (DRMVoucher.policies) for them.

  • How to find out what version of Adobe/Flash Access you're running

To find out what version of Adobe Access server you’re running, do this:
    1.          Unzip (or unpack) your flashaccess.war file (it’s just a zip file)
    2.          Navigate to: \flashaccess\META-INF\
    3.          Open “MANIFEST.MF” and look for “Implementation-Version” for something like 3.0.0296
    4.          That is your Adobe/Flash Access version#

  • Flash 8 crashes when publishing (Mac 10.3.9)

I've searched the forums and haven't found an instance that
is relevant enough to my situation.
Pretty basic, really. I have a registered version of Flash
and I go to publish. Not doing anything crazy with the publish
settings. The document I'm working on isn't immense or overly
    complex, either.
It gets about 1/3 or 1/2 through publishing it, then crashes
(i.e., "The application Flash has unexpectedly quit.").
This is part of the message that my OS sends to Apple...
    "Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x0e8e8d9e"
    What's all that about?
From what I've read, Flash is a bit buggy (hit & miss)
    with this whole crashing thing.
Anybody have any links or idears on how to get this fixed (or
    at least working better/more reliably)?
I've repaired permissions, run Onyx (i.e., deleted system
cache, etc. etc.), restarted, updated, repaired permissions,
    restarted. . .
    In a pickle...
Can some kind soul help me out? I hate pickles...
    Thanks,
    -j

Well, I talked to Adobe support last night for about an hour
and this is the scoop. Evidently, I was only having problems with
one of my documents. I was able to successfully publish a different
document. I was also able to save it, too. This document, however,
was much simpler than the one I was having problems with.
In my troublesome document, I had imported some .swf
animations that I had exported from ImageReady. I didn't realize
that Flash creates a .swf library symbol,
    and two library instances of
each frame (a bitmap and a movieclip symbol).
I realized that I had many, many duplicates and duplicates of
duplicates. My document had become ridiculously huge (~227MB). I
deleted all those instances, re-imported the .swf file and got my
file size down to about 77MB. I was now able to save my document,
but I still couldn't publish it.
So, the support guy told me to go into "Publish Settings",
click on the "Formats" tab and deselect "HTML". Click the publish
button at the bottom of the dialogue window and presto! It
published (albeit without the HTML file).
That's about where it ended. The support guy couldn't figure
out why this document was crashing Flash when trying to publish
    both the .swf
and .html files. He recommended a work-around of creating
the HTML file in Dreamweaver. I had already been hand-coding the
html file as a work-around, so that's where we left it.
So, this is what I learned:
    1. Repair permissions, run Onyx & clear your system cache
(don't have Onyx for 10.3.x? You can download the
    zip
file. You need admin access. Be careful with it, you can screw
up your computer. Be conservative with the settings. Use at your
    own risk).
if this doesn't solve it, then:
    2. Make sure you're up-to-date on your system software, Flash
software, and Flash player. Repair permissions again after updating
    any software.
if this doesn't solve it, then:
    3. Go to Users > username > Library > Application
Support > Macromedia and rename the Flash 8 folder as "Flash 8
old". Flash will create a new folder when you load it (it's an app
preference folder). You may delete "Flash 8 old" if this solution
doesn't end up really screwing things up (or you can delete it if
it fixes your problem). If this solution does end up creating
problems (or if you had certain settings you just can't lose),
delete the new "Flash 8" folder and rename "Flash 8 old" to "Flash
    8".
If it still doesn't work, re-evaluate your .fla:
    4. Limit the size and complexity of your .fla (delete
    superfuous library instances)
    5. Library instances can become corrupt, leading to a crash
    (delete suspect ones, re-create them)
    6. Fonts can become corrupt, leading to a crash (validate
    your fonts)
    7. Importing .swf files into your .fla file is iffy, due to
different compression(?) settings. This could be the culprit in my
circumstance. I may try doing a loadmovie deal on it at some
point... when I figure out where/when it could be loaded in the
    background.
    7. Publish your .fla without the .html document.
If all else fails and your Flash app just ain't workin', here
are instructions for uninstalling the studio (and it appears,
    individual applications):

  • Android AIR with DRM Flash Access 3 (workflow DRM client side) ? HELP

    Hello,
I'm trying  to manage DRM encryption for video with Flash Access 3.0 on Air for Android (or mobile device profile). I looked around and haven't found any awnser so far.
I know that Flash Player on Android devices is not supported by Adobe Flash Access, but it seems a bit different on Android AIR application, but where there is some point that I don't understand and I don't find any answer or exemples.
How to manage the DRM API workflow for Android AIR with Framework AIR?
Until now, i made a custom AS3 video playback (like StobeMediaPlayback), and i am trying to play:
an encrypted video ->           http://drmtest.adobe.com/content/anonymous.f4v  (encrypted) and its metadata http://drmtest.adobe.com/content/anonymous.f4v.metadata
and a no encrypted video --> http://drmtest2.adobe.com:8080/Content/unencrypted.f4v on Android device with AIR framework.
What I understand in accordance what i found this this forum, there are some differents workfows to manage DRM :
#1 - FMRMS (Flash Media Rights Management Server) before Flash Access :
         -NetStream.play()
         -NetStream.authenticate()
Adobe said tha that the workflow above is no longer recomanded, as we have Flash Access now
#2 - Flash Access for (Flash Player  or AIR desktop):
    (without token authentication) anonymous
    (with token authentication)
      1. Get drm metadata
      2. Create DRMContentData class from drm metadata
      3. DRMManager.loadVoucher()
      4. NetStream.play()
      1. Get drm metadata
      2. Create DRMContentData class from drm metadata
      3. Identify from metadata that this video requires authentication
      4. Prompt user for credentials and call DRMManager.authenticate()
      5  DRMManager.loadVoucher()
      6. NetStream.play()
    more info : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118666ade46-7ce3.html
Both case use DRMManager class in which you can use loadVoucher to apply the DRMContentData object from a DRM-protected media file
#3 - Flash Access 3.0 for (AIR 3.2 mobile device):
But in AIR environnement for mobile device, I don't found any informations toward a workflow for DRM Flash Access. The official documention say that the DRMManager class "it is not supported on mobile devices. You can test for support at run time using the DRMManager.isSupported property" (source:  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/drm/DRMManage r.html  ). For now, when I test my player DRMManager.isSupported, the return is "false".
Is there a way to manage a DRM player for AIR mobile without DRMManager class  ? What is the right workfow for this? Or maybe, I mistaken something. I think some people have succeed with DRM implemtnation on AIR mobile...
    Thanks in advance
    ethiers

    Thank you very much Denis,
You are absolute right! And you help me a lot.
On my side, i tested other devices like Google Nexus One (Android 2.3.4 + AIR 3.1), HTC Flyer (Android 3.1 + AIR 3.1) and Samsumg Galaxy tab 10.1 (Android 3.2+AIR 3.1), All support very well the DRMManager service.
For those who want to check it quickly, I developped an application to play an encrypted video with FAXS DRM : You can download :
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.air.com.seconceptweb.DRMTestAccessPlayer
If you have some questions, or some observations about FAXS DRM and AIR application for Android, you can use this thread indeed.
    Observations :

  • Flash Access 2.0 - 10.3.181.34 Error

    Hi,
We are unable to play flash access 2.0 protected movies with the new flash version 10.3.181.34.
The  problem seems to be in a request for a file that Strobe Media Playback  makes -> http://xsdownload.adobe.com/drm/plug/win/x86/10.3.181.34,  this resource doesn't exists, but looks like there's no problem to get  this resource for other versions like  http://xsdownload.adobe.com/drm/plug/win/x86/10.3.181.26.
Could someone guide point me to a solution?
    Thanks

Some embedded videos don't work after Flash Update.
A simple cure would be nice.
After my Adobe Flash Update to version 10.3.181.34 yesterday, some embedded videos on the web wouldn't work for me as a default user. When I tried as administrator, there were no problems. But I won't surf as an admin!
I have manually compared the browser-settings between administrator and default-user, and I couldn't find any differences. I have also checked the installation, both in sysWOW64 and in IE-add-ons, and I did uninstall and install as administrator.
My solution for now was to restore my system 2 days backwards. And it works! That makes me happy :-)
Now I'm waiting for Adobe or Microsoft to address the bug and post a simple cure. In the meantime, I'll fight hard to keep my Adobe Flash ActiveX version 10.3.181.26 - It might be a little old, but it works just fine on my Win7-IE9

  • Bad Adobe Flash Access DRM module

I have been streaming videos and movies I have purchased without problems until yesterday when Amazon wouldn't load the video and suggest upgrading Flash Player.
I have OS X 10.5.8, so Flash Player 10.3.183.29 is the most up-to-date version my computer can have.
I went to Adobe site and followed instructions for removing the bad Adobe Flash Access DRM module, deployed in 2011. Replaced it with the corrected DRM module. When I ran the test for protected content through the Adobe demo video player, no video played and received message: Error #3343. IV check failed.
What is error #3343? How can this be resolved?
Would greatly appreciate anyone's help on this.
    Thanks.
