  • Sony Mobile Indonesia: Bad Service Quality

    Greetings to you all.
My name is Giovan Pangku from Indonesia, an owner of Sony Ericsson Xperia ray ST18i.
I am also a member of a facebook group, "Xperia Community", a group where we share everything about Xperia devices.
On this thread, I'm going to explain about a petition that I made on 10 June 2013, for Xperia users in Indonesia, regarding the bad repair service quality. I'll just make this thread short and simple.
The petition was made because I read comments from members, complaining about the long time that Sony Mobile Indonesia takes to repair their devices (starting from 2 weeks, until more than 4 months), or devices that got broken again after a repair (or in several cases, more than once).  Their reason was the delay in importation of spare parts.
The Manager of Customer Service of Sony Mobile Indonesia, Mr. Roi Permadi, contacted me several times by email, explaining things regarding the delay. I could understand at first.
But it's already February 2014 now without much significant improvement. I also already contacted someone from Sony Mobile Sweden, assuming that Sweden is the headquarter for Sony Mobile (I know Sony is from Japan), and that someone contacted Mr. Roi Permadi to contact me again, and it was no use. So I wonder if Sony Mobile International can help us address this issue?  Does Sony Mobile Indonesia always run out of spareparts?  How can we, as customers, wait for months just for phone repair? Does this mean that Sony Mobile is not ready to serve its customers in Indonesia?
More about the petition is here:
    https://www.change.org/en-AU/petitions/sony-mobile-indonesia-must-change-their-disappointing-repair-...
Currently, more than 2200 Xperia users in Indonesia have signed it.
So please, Sony, don't let us be disappointed in Indonesia.
    Regards,
    Giovan Pangku

  • Battery Replacement by Sony?

Hello all. Is it possible to have the Battery replaced in the Z1 when needed by Sony? as the phone is sealed for IP rating, or is it scrap time once battery life is up?

Hopefully we can get it replaced. I asked the same question for Xperia Z.

  • Replace W520 Sony Optiarc AD-7710H DVD Burner with Sony Optiarc BD-5750H Blu-ray Burner?

I am planning on replacing the DVD burner which shipped with my W520 (4270CTO) with a Blu-ray burner.  Evidently not all W520s ship with the same drives.
Does anyone know whether the front bezel on the W520 is the same for the two Sony Optiarc drives mentioned above?  If not, which Blu-ray burners can accept the W520 front bezel from the Sony Optiarc AD-7710H, which is the drive my machine shipped with?
    Thank you!

I think you swap the bezels. I did with mine.

  • Want to replace my SONY DCR-PC110 - HD

I've been using my SONY DCR-PC110 and making quick easy family movies with the ease it connects to my mac via Firewire for years and years but I am guessing that I might or should be looking at HD now? Am I right?
If so, what should I be looking at spec wise to ensure it is always going to be compatible wit imovie?
    And also, any suggestings for £500 - £800 ($1000 USD - $1600?
thanks for any pointers anyone can give.

Hmm. "Upright" models are few and far between (..except, say, last year's model Canon HV10..) and generally more pricey.
But you could look for a Sony refurbished model at a decent price..
    Or there's always eBay..
P.S: If you're in the UK, or the rest of Europe, don't buy an American NTSC camcorder: it won't work properly with European PAL TVs ..and vice versa..

  • 5s screen cracked.  Receiver speaker worked but when replaced screen the receiver speaker wasn't coming through very good.  Replaced receiver speaker and still bad quality.  All connects are tight and opened it a few times.  Where might the prob be?

Pretty much what I wrote.  I didn't damage anything and all of the connections look good but the speaker isn't coming through very good.  I tried to mash the receiver speaker into its boot because I know that if it isn't seeded well then it could cause muffling but it is in place and secure.  All of the contacts look fine and none were damaged or touched when the phone was opened.  Any idea where I could have gone wrong here?  Mainly the receiver speaker sounds garbly and scratchy.  Like it would sound from being water damaged and no this phone has never seen water.  Thank you for any help anyone.

Wow. That was your help?  Yes obviously it's damaged and obviously I have damaged it. Thank you for that. Now back to the question. What did I damage so I can fix it. This phone is too old for warranty as well. That's why I'm fixing it.  Please, everyone else. I don't want instore advice but tech help.  This is the Apple Community.
In your first post, you said you didn't damage it. It seemed worth pointing out that it was, in fact damaged. And, as I suggested in my first reply, you might try a website like ifixit.com. They specialize in resources for people to repair iPhones.

  • Tired of replacements that don't work!!!

I am on my 3rd replacement of a 4th generation 20gb ipod, originally purchased in August, 2004. Each replacement has had either a bad hard drive, a malfunctioning click wheel or some other problem which I have now forgotten. I received my last replacement TODAY. The hard drive was extremly slow to be recognized by my computer, and repeatedly stops when songs are uploading, with several loud clicks coming from the hard drive. It has now locked up and won't do anything. I can't even turn it off!!
The previous replacement stopped functioning after only 1.5 months. Since I live over 20 miles from the nearest Apple store, it is very inconvienient for me to continue to go back and forth to pick up replacements that don't work. I asked the manager at my local store if I could trade up to something new that might work. I realize that I would have to pay some addition cash, but that seems like the only way I can get an ipod that works!!! The refurbished ones just don't.
Anyone else have a similar problem and got a satisfactory resolution? If so, please post and let me know what you did.
    Thanks,

i purchased my 40gb click wheel ikpod in february 05. it operated fine until july, then the screen froze. i mailed apple, who courier collected it, and replaced with another 40gb click wheel. in september this one also failed. the screen froze and up popped the sad ipod icon. again i mailed apple, who , again courier collected and replaced with a 40gb click wheel model. this one failed today, 28/11/05. i notice that the 40gb versions are no longer advertised for sale on the apple web site shop.
am i on to something here? do apple know that their 40gb click wheel have an inherrent design/ manufacturing problem? do they keep a warehouse full of these downright faulty items ready to send back out to unfortunate owners evry 2 months until they run out?
    whats going on?
all i want is a nice piece of equipment that works correctly for at least2 years, not failing every 2 months.
i have mailed apple once agin and asked for a free upgrade. maybe it will save them some cash spent on courier collection and delivery

Many TVs do not properly advertise 1366x768 as a resolution using the DVI EDID signalling. Sony are particularly bad at this.
On top of that the Intel GMA 950 video chip in the Mac mini is limited in its capabilities as well.
I have tried using both DisplayConfigX and SwitchResX on a Mac mini to manually adjust settings with a Sony TV but could not get a perfect result. I did find that a new Sony TV produced excellent results at 1366x768 via VGA (an older Sony produced awful results).
From other comments in these forums I get the impression that for some people at least that Toshiba and Samsung TVs do properly set the EDID signalling allowing a Mac mini to auto detect and use 1366x768 with those makes.

  • Commit Work in MIGO BADI

    Hi,
Can we use COMMIT WORK statement in BADI?  Hope its not advisable to use it.
I am using MB_MIGO_BADI~POST_DOCUMENT  to update the GR Number in a custom table.
Sometimes the GR number is not getting updated in the custom table.
The modify statement given below does not updates the table sometime.
    IF WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-GR_NUMBER IS INITIAL.
          WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-REFERENCE = GS_EXDATA_HEADER-REFERENCE.
          WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-REFWERKS  = GS_EXDATA_HEADER-WERKS.
          WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-GR_NUMBER = IS_MKPF-MBLNR.
         WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-GR_YEAR   = IS_MKPF-MJAHR.
         MODIFY ZMM_GATE_ENTRY FROM WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY .u201Dupdating the Z-table
    ELSE.
          MESSAGE E901(ZMM) WITH GS_EXDATA_HEADER-GATEENTRYNO WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-GR_NUMBER.

Is there any other option to replace the commit work in BADI?
    Plz suggest...

    Hi,
I don't think even you do commit work it makes much difference and also Commit work also we can eliminate in the code.one more option is selecting the data from table to check whether it is updated or not.
    IF WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-GR_NUMBER IS INITIAL.
          WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-REFERENCE = GS_EXDATA_HEADER-REFERENCE.
          WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-REFWERKS  = GS_EXDATA_HEADER-WERKS.
          WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-GR_NUMBER = IS_MKPF-MBLNR.
         WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-GR_YEAR   = IS_MKPF-MJAHR.
         MODIFY ZMM_GATE_ENTRY FROM WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY .u201Dupdating the Z-table
      IF sy-subrc eq 0.
      do.
    select gr_number from ZMM_GATE_ENTRY where reference = GS_EXDATA_HEADER-REFERENCE.
if sy-subrc eq 0 and if gr_number is not initial. (record Found)-> means updated.
    exit.
    else.
    MODIFY ZMM_GATE_ENTRY FROM WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY.
    endif.
    enddo.
    endif.
    ELSE.
          MESSAGE E901(ZMM) WITH GS_EXDATA_HEADER-GATEENTRYNO WA_ZMM_GATE_ENTRY-GR_NUMBER.

  • Sony KDL46v5100 connection with 7216-1

I have purchased and replaced the Sony KDL46v5100 with the same model during the last 30 days.  The problem continues:  I have tried both component and HDMI connections to the 7216 receiver and I get the same problem.   On a random schedule, the connection is lost and I experience a brief 1-2 second loss of picture and get a black screen.   Before I return the television - again - does anyone know if it is the televison or the receiver that is the root of the problem.  It seems that the answer must be model specific but...........
If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it very much.  I have to return the television with the next week as my 30 exchange period is ending at Best Buy.   Thanks for your help.

Hi Humble. I have a Sony Bravia Model# KDL52S5100 which has the same issues that you are describing. I have been having these issues since March. I also have the 7216 and I have multiple technicians come out and replace STB’s and also give me a 6416 which also did not work. It actually was worse. While watching a DVR the show would stop playing and the screen would turn blue. Also, while watching TV the screen would blackout and up until recently I was able to rewind to see what I missed. Now I cannot even do that. Now I am missing 75% of a recording because that is how the DVR recording is being broadcasted. I am only getting about 40% viewing time of my live shows and am being told that I cannot get credit for the other 60% because I need to call them daily with the issues. Who has that much time? I contacted SONY and had them send me the update to the TV. I inserted it and updated the TV and still nothing was fixed. The update for my TV was just for the lighting in the TV and nothing to do with the broadcast.  I escalated my issue to the CEO, Ivan Seidenberg, and was finally told the truth. I was told that the blackout between the Sony and their STB will continue because of a compatibility issue. The short term solution is to connect the STB to the TV via Coax Cables.  So, I paid $2k for a TV that I have to watch via Coax. Are you serious? They told me yes and there is nothing they can do. It is a compatibility issue between certain TV’s and Verizon FIOS. Somewhere there is a list and our TV’s are on it. Verizon knows it. So, basically you can try the 6416 and try to keep calling them, or just use Coax Cable. However from my experience it is a HUGE waste of time! I am calling Bright House as I am typing this. I am no longer going to pay for something I cannot see.Hope this helps!

  • Setting Disk Utility to lock out bad sectors

Setting Disk Utility to lock out bad sectors
When my Leopard DVD arrives I'm planning on doing a clean install to my internal HD. I would like to format the drive to lock out bad sectors but I can't seem to find a setting to do that in Disk Utility or anything about it in Help.

    Hi Peggy Lynn;
To the best of my knowledge there is no way to lock out bad sectors.
What you can do is erase the disk and under security tab have zeros written to the disk. When you do this if any bad sectors are found, they will be mapped out so that will no longer be used.
Disk drive always have some extra sector which can be mapped in to replace any that might go bad. The disk drive can continue doing this until the sectors are all used up then you will have to replace it.

  • Light leakage question: any replacement iPad 2s ok?

Seems to me that everybody writing about getting replacements is saying the replacements they received are as bad or worse. Just wondering if anybody at all has received a replacement that has been okay.

My co-worker took his back twice and both of his replacements still had bleeding. At least his 3rd iteration had less bleeding than his original.
To be objective, the bleeding doesn't make the device unusable. My co-workers may not have noticed their bleeding if I didn't ask to compare my iPad 2 to theirs.
We have taken differing strategies. I've returned mine, but he is being persistent and I'm sure to the dismay of his nearest Apple store, checking in just about every week to try to swap his out until he gets an acceptable device.
I on the other hand, chose to just return mine.
It's amazing how many jump to defend Apple, proclaim those who do have iPad 2s "lucky" to even have been able to purchase one and be thankful for it, or that they are being nit picky.
I'll concede a little bit to being nit picky. But Apple themselves have built their reputation for not only beautiful industrial design, but also for their build quality. The prices of their devices are supposed to reflect this quality.
When I shell out $911 for a device, I think I'm in the right to be nit picky. My iPad 1st gen had absolutely no bleed issues whatsoever and was a joy to use.
I also noticed my screen bleed immediately in normal office lighting, so I wasn't just reacting to news blogs or 2nd hand information. I use the iPad primarily for video, and can honestly say the screen bleed is distracting.
Sure, it wouldn't kill me... but for $911 I could buy a 40" LCD TV without any bleeding, but then again.. I wouldn't buy a TV with screen bleeding in the first place.
Apple may or may not fix this screen bleed issue. Maybe they'll give a bumper that clamps down on the screen to help alleviate the issue. If the problem bothers you as much as it did me, the power is truly in your hands.
Return the device if the bleeding has made you so unhappy and the device is unacceptable for use. That was the decision I made. If the bleeding is corrected in later models, decide then if you want to buy it.
You can also decide to keep yours and hope that your Apple store staff is of the more understanding sort (which just about all Apple staff in the Bay Area are), and will swap your device, send it out for repair, or swap it with a fixed refurb. (Some have warned that after the initial 14 days you may not be eligible for a replacement for a brand-new device.) That may or may not be true.. but that shouldn't really be an issue if this problem bugs you enough to want a replacement in the first place.

  • What is the latest PC Sync for Sony (Ericsson) Mobiles?

I see different types of software for syncing Sony devices. But which of the followings are the lastest and which one(s) are expired.
    Sony Ericsson PC Suite 6.011.00
PC Suite for Sony Ericsson 1.6.0
Sony PC Companion & Sony Media Go
Is "Sony Ericsson PC Suite" replaced by "Sony PC Companion"? If so, does it cover old Sony Ericsson mobiles such as k310- k750- w810?

PC companion is a replacement for PC suite version 6 (but not for other versions), so any phone that is compatible with this version of PC suite, will also be compatible with PC companion. However, other versions of PC suite can still be used, so none of them have actually expired. As for Media Go, there have been several updates which should work with any phone that is compatible with this application.
    Hope this helps.

  • Has anyone ever been quoted more than $500 to replace a failed logic board?

Has anyone ever been quoted more than $500 to replace a failed logic board? A Genius buddy of mine swears that it'll never be over $500 but I' convinced he's high out of his mind.

I doubt it. They don't even take the same kind of RAM.
What makes you think a replacement "will most likely go bad in the future"? Some have had to go back more than once; many haven't. (And many have not gone in at all.) There are many iBook users out there, happily iBooking away without any knowledge of the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program because they've never had a problem.
Get it replaced, free, NOW, and worry about the future when it gets here.

  • Can anyone tell me about BAdi customizing in simple terms?

    Hi friends,
Can anyone tell me about BAdi customizing in simple terms? I need it a bit urgently.
    Thanks in advance.
    cheers,
      Joy

BADIs are known as Business Add-Ins. They are enhancements to the standard version of the SAP system. The application developer creates an interface for the add-in. From this, enhancement management creates an adapter class that implements the interface and thus provides the interface for implementation by the customer, partner, and so on. The developer then creates an instance of the adapter class in the application program and calls the corresponding method at the appropriate time. Enhancement gives SAP customers the ability to adapt SAP to suit specific requirements. It does not require a modification to standard code and code will not be overwritten during the upgrade.
In SAP, Business Add-Ins, Customer Exits and User Exists are used for enhancements.
Customer Exits provide predefined exit points from SAP source code, enabling you to insert your own code and locally enhance a standard application without having to get into SAP application logic.
SAP creates user exits for specific programs, screens, and menus within standard R/3 applications. These exits do not contain any functionality.
An application developer who wishes to have a Business Add-In in a particular program defines the interface for an enhancement in the Business Add-In Builder. In the following step, he or she programs the interface call in the application program at the appropriate place. Customers can then select the add-in and implement it according to their needs.
The Business Add-In enhancement technique differentiates between enhancements that can only be implemented once and enhancements that can be used actively by any number of customers at the same time. In addition, Business Add-Ins can be defined according to filter values. This allows you to differentiate between Add-In implementations using the filter Country or other criteria.
BADIs are Object Oriented techniques used for enhancements and nowadays they are widely used as a replacement for Customer exits. BADIs are predefined exit points in a source that allow developers to either insert their own logic during implementation or simply adopt one of the standard supplemental solutions provided by SAP.
A single Business Add-In contains all of the interfaces necessary to implement a specific task implementation. All ABAP sources, screens, GUIs, and table interfaces created using this enhancement technique are defined in a manner that allows customers to include their own enhancements in the standard.
Normally BADIs will be available within the standard programs and when we need some enhancements or if there is a change request made by the customer in the functionality, BADIs or Customer exits are used.
    Types of Business Add-Ins:
    u2022     Multiple use BADIs.
    u2022     Filter dependant BADIs.
    From SAP menu Tools-> ABAP Workbench-> Utilities-> Business Add-Ins-> SE18 u2013 Definition or else use SE18 (T-code).
