Replenishment for random bins

hello all,
I would like to verify the steps below that i am planning to use for random bin management in a storage type.
1. I am planning to use mvmt. type 319 and assign it to particular storage type in configuration,
2. I am using only the Minimum and replenishment quantity for the particular storage type without specifying any fixed bins in the material master.
3. planning to use t- code LP24 to carry out random bin replenishment.
4. also, i would like to what is the difference between "Transfer orders immediate for fixed bins and Transfer orders Immediate for random bins" in configuration under replenishment method for storage type.
pl. let me know if all these steps are correct and if i want to carry out any more additional steps.
Thanks,
Maxx

The differnece in configuration is that in field V_T331M-REPLT you set "1" (immediate TO, fixed bin) or "2" (immediate TO, random).
In case of fixed bin:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/fd/90fbf4b3cd11d3b2ad0050045571f7/frameset.htm
1. Immediate TO Creation for Fixed Bins
With this replenishment strategy, the system checks the stock situation in the bin during transfer order confirmation. It uses the quant data and the material master data from the storage type view. A replenishment transfer order determines the fixed storage bin of the material in this storage type as the destination storage bin.
In case of random bin replenishment:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/fd/90fbf4b3cd11d3b2ad0050045571f7/frameset.htm
2. Immediate TO Creation Random Bin Management
With this replenishment strategy, the system checks the stock situation of the material in the entire storage type during transfer order confirmation. All the quant data of the material in this storage type and the material master data from the storage type view are used by the system. If the entire stock in this storage type falls below the minimum quantity after transfer confirmation, the system creates a replenishment transfer order. The destination storage bin is determined through the putaway strategy for this storage type. Maintenance of a fixed storage bin is therefore not required in the storage type view of the material master.
So, as you can see, the differences are:
- stock situation --> system checks only the (destination) fixed bin (fixed bin) / system checks the (destination) storage type (random)
- destination bin --> fixed bin (fixed bin) / determined based on the putaway strategy of the storage type (random)

  • Automatic Replenishment for Fixed Bins

    Hi,
    We have successfully implemented Automatic Replenishment for our Fixed Bins when Picking Transfer Order is Confirmed. We have used the scenario where full stock removal (a palletized quantity) is removed from the source bin and only the Replenishment quantity is placed in the destination bin with the difference quantity placed into a Return bin in a consolidation storage type. This is accomplished in a single Transfer Order. We use RF Scanning to confirm the Fixed Bin Replenishment.
    Our problem now is the following:
    There is no positive instruction that the full quantity must be removed from the Source bin and the remainder quantity placed into the Return bin.
    Question:
    Can the Replenishment Transfer Order be split automatically into two. One to Replenish the Fixed Bin and the other to move the remainder to the Return bin.
    Our SAP system is: SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7
    Thanks and regards,
    Mike

    Hi,
    Thank you for your prompt reply. Through all my investigation you have confirmed the conclusion that I suspected. Thank you.
    Is there possibly a different solution? Is there a User Exit or Function Module that can be called/used to create another TO while creating the automatic replenishment TO? We could then use this separately to move the stock to the consolidation area.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Replenishment for fixed bins in WM

    Hello Experts,
    I have a need to create auto TOs for replenishing fixed bins.If I am correct for auto TOs,i dont need to run LP21.
    I have defined a custom WM movement type for 319.In the custom movement type I have defined source storage type and destination storagetype and selected Auto TO in background.
    I have defined replenishment control for storage type-- entered the movement type and selected  repleishment method '1'.
    Can some one suggest me if i am missing some thing?
    Do i need to define the search sequense as putaway to be directed to fixed bin storage type from other storage types?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
    Yes, you are correct, you need to define search sequence for the storage types and for the replenishment storage types as well.
    Hope it is clear.

  • WM Replenishment for storage type

    Hi there,
    I implemented the replenishment solution for a fixed bin and is working well.
    But our bussiness needs to use the replenishment for several bins located on one storage type. In other words, we need a replenishmente not for a fixed bin.
    I tried to find out the way but all the doucumentation that I got is useing the replenishment solution only for fixed bin.
    Somebody could let me know if there is a solution for that or SAP can not manage it in other way?.
    Best regards.
    Claudio

    You can try with Random Bin Management in the repleneishment process.We have implemented this solution.It worked fine with us.

  • How to replenish warehouse pick bins for production orders

    Hi All,
    Currently in WM we use LP22 to replenish the pick bins, here LP22 considers all the outbound deliveries for creating the replenishment TRu2019s
    In the similar fashion how can I use LP22 to consider Production orders (raw materials and their quantities) for replenishing the pick bins? My aim is to replenish the pick bins not just for the outbound deliveries but also for the production orders
    Please suggest if this can be accomplished using LP22 by running in different ways or there is different transaction.
    FYI: the materials that are ordered in the outbound and production order are same
    Please suggest
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Instead of opening multiple threads in different forums, it would be better if you reply back to the suggestion provided as to whether it helped or if you need any further help.

  • WM : Automatic replenishment TO for fixed bin from warious storage types

    Hi Gurus,
    We have storage type 011 - fixed Bin storage type , 022  - self Storage and 055 - High Rack Storage. Also we have set up for automatic TO creation for fixed bin in fixed bin storage type when stock falls below minimum fixed bin quantity.
    My problem is : system only creates TO when there is some stock in 055 - High Rack Storage. If there is no stock in 055 system doesn't create any TO. But there's lots of stock in 011( other than fixed bin) and 022.
    we want system to serch for 055/ 022/ 011 sequence. So if there is no stock in 055, it should go for 022 and then 011.
    Can anyone advise me on this? I will be really grateful.
    Kind Regards

    Hi,

  • Replenishment of fixed bins for batch managed materials.

    WM - Replenishment of Fixed Bins.  Batch selection and full pallet selection
    My issue is as follows:  I am performing the replenishment of fixed bin based on SD deliveries.  Stock is batch managed and batch selection is based on the shortest expiry date.  If there is both a partial and full pallet of a particular batch of a material in the source warehouse, the full pallet will always be proposed in the TO, before the partial pallet.  Is there a way of forcing the selection of a partial pallet before the full pallet?

    Removal of material based on quantities could be driven by using picking strategy 'M'. This is closest option that I could think of that matches your requirement. If this does not meet your requirements then you may have use a custom picking strategy via exit MWMTO004.

  • Why do my imported files or created titles always go to some random bin and not the one I want?

    Everytime I import a file via right clicking > Import. It will always go to some random bin that I don't want it to. Each project it's a different bin. Even if I right click > import on the bin I want it to import into, the file will still go to some pre determined default folder. Usually one of my Footage folders a couple of layers down.
    This same thing happens when created titles. I usually have to do a search to find the files. When I used CS2 and 3 I never had this problem.
    Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way to not have it go to a pre determined default bin? Or can I change that Bin?
    Currently the only way I can get a file to go into the folder I want via importing is when I drag and drop it from my explorer window. I don't use the CS5 media browser because It doesn't have thumbnails.
    Thoughts, solutions?
    Thanks in advance.
    -Switch

    Close.
    With this specific bin structure, if I import as you described the file imports to the Reception Bin. I tried the same proceedure with highlighting>righ clicking> and importing,  files to all bin levels even to the root level not inside a bin and it still goes to the reception bin. So for what ever reason for this project I am working on now the Reception Bin has become the default bin.
    This holds true for titles as well, they get created in the reception bin.
    I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I presort my footage into folders then "import folder" into the footage bin. I thought it might have something to do with the last bin I created or imported became a default bin but in this scenario. The Receception bin is the second to last folder I imported/created.

  • Fixed Bin Vs Random bin

    Dear WM Experts
    Right now we are using Fixed bin in our WM. Can we conside random bin while doing ECC6 upgrade in early next year. Can you please let me know the disadvantages of fixed bin vs advantages of random bin. Appreciate your reply/inputs on this.
    Thanks & regards: Siva

    Hi Siva,
    Its purely depends on the flow of goods into your warehouse and the business process which your company is following.
    If you are having a very small warehouse with a very small quantities of materials, you don't need random bins, instead you can have a fixed bin by material.
    The disadvantage is....in future, if you are getting huge quantities of materials in your warehouse, it is not possible to create new fixed bin again for the same material, because SAP supports only one fixed storage bin.
    In case of random bin, irrespective of the quantity or the new materials, you can go on in crease the no. of bins in the same storage type.
    Hope it helps you.

  • Need Java code for random text.

    To all you Java programmer Gurus out there.
    How hard is it to make a small Java program whose whole purpose is to ask a user how many random characters they want and then proceeds to generate a text file full of RANDOM characters A-Z and a-z ?
    The characters could repeat it does not matter as long as they repeat randomly.
    I've found all kinds of code examples for Random password generators and things like that but none quite do what I want them to do.
    sample of what the output file might look like

  • Hold Button Doesn't Work for Random Periods of Time

    Over the past few months I have been having massive issues with my ipod.
    It all started about 4 months ago when the hold function, without me turning it on with the switch, began to turn itself on. This would happen at random periods, for random periods. Sometimes it goes on for a couple of hours, sometimes for a couple of seconds. When the ipod began to get this problem I had been using it consistently for about a year.
    Resetting it does not help - I have tried it countless times. I have noticed it tends to do it more when the battery is not full, but it still has issues when it is. I tried restoring it last night to no avail - it didn't fix the problem.
    My warranty has expired so I don't wish to waste my time and money sending it to apple if it is a simple issue.
    Does anyone know what's causing the problem? Anyone have a DIY solution?
    Thanks in advance and happy easter.

    i used my ipod for a while. and yesterday it was on low battery, very low.
    and the HOLD button, doesnt worked!
    i charged my ipod but the hold button never work again!!
    i reset it with the soft and with the buttons, but nothing!
    who can fix it in argentina??
    thanks.

  • Patch for /usr/bin/netcfg

    Hi all!
    I have submitted a bug report and made a patch for /usr/bin/netcfg, from initscripts-0.7.2-3.
    Now "netcfg --menu" works perfect with GPM enabled, so we can choose a different profile from a VC without shutting down GPM.
    Of course, "/etc/rc.d/network restart" (or start) will work too when having NET_PROFILES=(menu) in /etc/rc.conf - and executed from a VC.
    Hope it helps.
    You will find the patch and the bug report in the following link:

    FANTASTIC!  Everyone who wants something add to Arch should take a leaf from your book - this is the way to get things done

  • Sources for random effects to use with FCE

    Any FCE users out there know of any good sources for random “effects” (not filters) and pre-made generic clips?
    Coming from iMoive I'm really excited about the improved control I have with FCE but it doesn’t have some of the generic effects I’m looking for like the 3-2-1 screen at the beginning of a video or overlays where it looks like the film is burning on the light…etc. I need some cool yet affordable plug-ins.
    Any help is appreciated!

    archive.org offers some downloadable count-downs ... in "historic" pic quality..
    with some painting skills, you're able to create your own in a paint-app and animate it in FCE ...
    search for video-libraries on the net, many offer (for $$) DVDs with zillions of usable "movies", fog, fire, water, animatics...
    lately, I stumbled here over
    http://fxhome.com/effectslab/effectslab-overview.html
    which allows creation of nice "particle" effects (smoke, fog, fire, bursts, ...)
    I'm too more a iM user.. like all these presets... in FCE, you have to think yourself, how is it done, how to set which knobs&sliders to achieve a special, wanted look... much more options, but much more complicated ..

  • Ideas on generating seeds for random number generators?

    Does anyone here have any ideas or know of any good links to articles that discuss how to generate good seeds for random number generators?
    I am aware that I could always probably call SecureRandom.generateSeed as one technique.
    The major problem that I have with the above is that I have no idea how any given implementation of SecureRandom works, and whether or not it is any good. (For instance, Sun seems to hide their implementation outside of the normal JDK source tree; must be in one of their semi-proprietary sun packages...)
    I thought about the problem a little, and I -think- that the implementation below ought to be OK. The javadocs describe the requirements that I am looking for as well as the implementation. The only issue that still bugs me is that maybe the hash function that I use is not 1-1, and so may not guarantee uniqueness, so I would especially like feedback on that.
    Here's the code fragments:
         * A seed value generating function for Random should satisfy these goals:
         * <ol>
         *  <li>be unique per each call of this method</li>
         *  <li>be different each time the JVM is run</li>
         *  <li>be uniformly spread around the range of all possible long values</li>
         * </ol>
         * This method <i>attempts</i> to satisfy all of these goals:
         * <ol>
         *  <li>
         *          an internal serial id field is incremented upon each call, so each call is guaranteed a different value;
         *          this field determines the high order bits of the result
         *  </li>
         *  <li>
         *          each call uses the result of {@link System#nanoTime System.nanoTime}
         *          to determine the low order bits of the result,
         *          which should be different each time the JVM is run (assuming that the system time is different)
         *  </li>
         *  <li>a hash algorithm is applied to the above numbers before putting them into the high and low order parts of the result</li>
         * </ol>
         * <b>Warning:</b> the uniqueness goals cannot be guaranteed because the hash algorithm, while it is of high quality,
         * is not guaranteed to be a 1-1 function (i.e. 2 different input ints might get mapped to the same output int).
         public static long makeSeed() {
              long bitsHigh = ((long) HashUtil.enhance( ++serialNumber )) << 32;
              long bitsLow = HashUtil.hash( System.nanoTime() );
              return bitsHigh | bitsLow;
         }and, in a class called HashUtil:
         * Does various bit level manipulations of h which should thoroughly scramble its bits,
         * which enhances its hash effectiveness, before returning it.
         * This method is needed if h is initially a poor quality hash.
         * A prime example: {@link Integer#hashCode Integer.hashCode} simply returns the int value,
         * which is an extremely bad hash.
         public static final int enhance(int h) {
    // +++ the code below was taken from java.util.HashMap.hash
    // is this a published known algorithm?  is there a better one?  research...
              h += ~(h << 9);
              h ^=  (h >>> 14);
              h +=  (h << 4);
              h ^=  (h >>> 10);
              return h;
         /** Returns a high quality hash for the long arg l. */
         public static final int hash(long l) {
              return enhance(
                   (int) (l ^ (l >>> 32))     // the algorithm on this line is the same as that used in Long.hashCode
         }

    Correct me if I'm incorrect, but doesn't SecureRandom just access hardware sources entropy? Sources like /dev/random?What do you mean by hardware sources of entropy?
    What you really want is some physical source of noise, like voltage fluctuations across a diode, or Johnson noise, or certain radioactive decay processes; see, for example
         http://www.robertnz.net/true_rng.html
         http://ietfreport.isoc.org/idref/draft-eastlake-randomness2/
         this 2nd paper is terrific; see for example this section: http://ietfreport.isoc.org/idref/draft-eastlake-randomness2/#page-9
    But is /dev/random equivalent to the above? Of course, this totally depends on how it is implemented; the 2nd paper cited above gives some more discussion:
         http://ietfreport.isoc.org/idref/draft-eastlake-randomness2/#page-34
    I am not sure if using inputs like keyboard, mouse, and disk events is quite as secure as, say, using Johnson noise; if my skimming of that paper is correct, he concludes that you need as many different partially random sources as possible, and even then "A hardware based random source is still preferable" (p. 13). But he appears to say that you can still do pretty good with these these sources if you take care and do things like deskew them. For instance, the common linix implementation of /dev/random at least takes those events and does some sophisticated math and hashing to try to further scramble the bits, which is what I am trying to simulate with my hashing in my makeSeed method.
    I don't think Java can actually do any better than the time without using JNI. But I always like to be enlightened; is there a way for the JVM to generate some quality entropy?Well, the JVM probably cannot beat some "true" hardware device like diode noise, but maybe it can be as good as /dev/random: if /dev/random is relying on partially random events like keyboard, mouse, and disk events, maybe there are similar events inside the JVM that it could tap into.
    Obviously, if you have a gui, you can with java tap into the same mouse and keyboard events as /dev/random does.
    Garbage collection events would probably NOT be the best candidate, since they should be somewhat deterministic. (However, note that that paper cited above gives you techniques for taking even very low entropy sources and getting good randomness out of them; you just have to be very careful and know what you are doing.)
    Maybe one source of partial randomness is the thread scheduler. Imagine that have one or more threads sleep, and when they wake up put that precise time of wakeup as an input into an entropy pool similar to the /dev/random pool. Each thread would then be put back to sleep after waking up, where its sleep time would also be a random number drawn from the pool. Here, you are hoping that the precise time of thread wakeup is equivalent in its randomness to keyboard, mouse, and disk events.
    I wish that I had time to pursue this...
