Report Designer - Query with variable

Hi!
When testing the report designer, we have found an issue - it’s not possible to embedding queries with variables.
We have found note https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=012006153200000232982006
that suggest a solution to the issue.
My question is simply, does anyone know if this is a temporary fix, or is this a constraint that is not planned to be fixed by SAP? The note is a bit ambiguous.

Hello,
Queries with variables are still in restrictions for Report Designer.
You can use this work-arond creating Query View and fill up the variables. This allows you to define a Report in RD. Then, use Web Appication Designer to include your Report into Web Application and replace the Query View with your initial Query.
For the integration do following:
1. Create new Web Template in WAD
2. Drag-and-drop Web Item "Report"
3. Go to Property Window in WAD and search for "REPORT" (description Report Design) parameter in Web Items Parameters
4. Use the button on the right side of the parameter to open Report Designer and choose your Report in it.
5. You should see that new Data Provider was created in WAD -> Open it and set it to your initial Query.
5. Save you Web Template and execute in the browser.

  • Embedding a report designer query into a template - errors out

In a template i want to include the report designer query, with the web item type - report, when i drag the report item into the template and try to edit it, it takes me to the report designer, there I'm able to open my report designer query - then when i go to - menu - transfer to web apllication designer - it takes me back to WAD but errors out saying it encountered a problem. Did anyone come across this issue? And how did you overcoem this? Any help or pointer would be appreciated and rewarded.

  • Report designer Query Transport issue!

    Hello ALL,
Iu2019ve created a formatted report in Report designer the basis of which is a query developed in Query designer. Now the issue is Iu2019ve captured the query developed in Query designer by going to RSA1Transport connectionQuery Elements, but Iu2019m unable to capture the report designer query i.e when I try to search with this RD query name it says query does not exit.
Can someone please help, how I can transport this Query developed by Query designer.

    Hi,
    let me know the solution?
as i know , need to save and activate? and refresh in RSA1. you can find out your object.

  • Is there any transaction code for Report Designer,Query Designer and WAD

    HI Gurus,
please tell me s there any transaction code for
    1 Report Designer
    2 Query Designer
    3 WAD
    Thanks in advance
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
We don't have any Transaction Codes for these.
Since these are installed along with the SAPLOGON BI components, it cannot be called using a standard transaction.
You have to use only .
Goto Start -> Programs -> Business Explorer -> Web Application Designer/Report Designer/Query Designer.
    Hope it helps.
    Reward with points if helpful.

  • Reporting designer - problem with insertin query

hi, I have problem with inserting query into reporting designer, when i do it there occurs metadata error and the system write check query, but query is ok, there are no variables. Have you any idea whats the problem.
    thanx

I had a similar problem after "upgrading" to SAPGUI 7.10, except my failure was in the BEx Analyzer. (We are still using BW 3.5 SP 18.)
The solution I found was in SAP Note 1039191 which addresses this problem for both the Analyzer and the Query Designer, and includes a revised "wdbsPres.dll" file as a workaround. After downloading and installing this file, the problem was resolved.
BTW, I have asked SAP when this will be fixed in a future FEP, but they have so far only given me a very ambiguous reply suggesting that I try it on another PC.
    Hope this helps...

  • Embeddable Report Designer Control with Windows 7

I have a couple of questions.
I am using Crystal Report XI in both Vb6 and VS2005. I am using the COM controls in both. The CRViewer and the Embeddable Report Designer Control. This has been working in XP fine. Not so good in Vista or Windows 7. I am upgrading to Crystal Reports XI R2 Sp6. For viewing reports in VB6 and VS2005 this working fine.
I know that the Embeddable designer no longer exists in future Crystal Report versions or in the .net versions.
In VS2005 the Embeddable Report Designer Control does not work in windows 7.
Is there anything new that needs to be in the code then in the previous versions? What do I need to do to make the Embeddable Report Designer Control work with windows 7 correctly?
Also I will need the merge modules for Crystal Reports XI R2 Sp6 for both the .net and RDC. Are they avalible?
I need to be able to modify reports within the application. My clients have to be able modify existing reports to match state and federal laws and rules.

Crystal Reports XI R2 Sp6 supports WIN 7, so it should work, though as far as I am concerned, the Embeddable Report Designer Control was always flaky. Also, it may be possible (perhaps even likely) that the RDC components were not tested by QA on WIN 7.
What is the actual issue you are seeing? (errors, behavior, etc.)
Are you seeing the issue on a development computer or after you deploy the runtime? I am assuming this is your dev box as you are asking about CR XI SP6 msm files, but I have to be sure.
If at all possible, do not use the RDC in .NET. The RDC was never tested in .NET and thus is not supported. It may work, but using the Embeddable Report Designer Control in .NET gives me the creeps...
See if you can get this to work in VB 6 first. If not, you at least have an escalation path for a fix. You do not have an escalation path with RDC in .NET. Please note that if a fix is accepted by R&D, the usual time frame for release of a fix is 6+ months.
For the future, you will have to look into using the RAS report creation APIs in .NET. This will give you similar report creation abilities at runtime as the Embeddable Report Designer.

  • Copy function based on the query with variables

    Hello
Let me share the scenario I need to implement. I have a planning query with layout like shop / material / sales volume. The variables are shop number and calendar month. User opens the planning query, selects shop number and month, then sees the list of materials and puts the planned sales volume, then saves as a temporary version. Saving as a temporary version is realized by standard u201Csaveu201D function. The matter is that the user needs to have a possibility to copy this version to official one. I created the button and linked it with the copy function. The problem is that when a user clicks this button, the function asks him/her to provide variables again. I would like to have the button which copies the data with the same selection criteria as the query already has.
    Any idea?
    Arelis.

    Hi,
I think when you add the button you specify the planning sequence name and that takes the filter of the modeler .Now when you try to call the planning sequence the filter variables are also added to the button as VAR_NAME, VAR_VALUE which prompts you for the variable again.Delete VAR_NAME,VAR_VALUE at the back of the button  manually and then save your work book. Then it will not ask for variable entry and the values that you have specified in the query filter will pass on to modeler filters. As variables are global.
Similarly if you are using planning function then at the back of the button remove the VAR_NAME,VAR_VALUE.
    Hope this may help.

    Indu

  • Report designer - query alignment

    Hi all,
In report designer I have 2 queries with a top 10 condition on a characteristic in the rows and 1 key figure in the column. The report designer shows these reports as dynamic sections.
Therefore I cannot place them horizontally next to each other, for layout purposes.
Does anyone know how I can achieve this?
    thanks

  • Re: Crystal Report and SAP BW Query with Variable

Crystal Report 2008 V1 SP3 and SAP Integration Kits 3.1 SP3 installed on my client machine.
I can open SAP BW Query in Crystal Report. However, in the Field Explorer >Database Fields, I dont see to be able to expan the Query and see it Key Figure/Characteristic.
I noticed this happen only if we have Variable defined in the Charactics.
If the characteristic has no variable, then I can expand the Query under Database Fields.
    Do you have this problem?

Yes, once I have imported the new SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP3 transports into BW system, I can now expand the it.
I can now see the Variable in Crystal Report.
    Thanks!

  • Refresh Query with variable is not working

I have issue with my query.
0customer -Property (key and text) and Selection parameter
When I place 0customer in the filter area and save the query execute the query and refresh the query I am able to change the customer number parameter values.
Variable has option  Can be changed during query execution. Filter value is also not displaying in the report
When I move 0customer in the  Row area and save the query -first time it is displaying the selection parameter values and when you hit refresh it will refresh the same query .but it is not populating the selection parameter .

  • Query with variable

    hello world,
i have a problem, i have implemented a query that is using in different schema. These schemas have same structure, therefore to extract information i must use the same query but I must specify the different schemas to select the table. The question is: " how can i use a variable in the query? "
    Example: "Select * from aa.zz ", "Select * from bb.zz"
I want to use the same query but to replace the name schema with a variable
    Example: "Select * from aa.zz ", "Select * from bb.zz" =>>> "Select * from x.zz " where "x" is the variable name.
I am using this query to build a report by oracle BI publisher.
    Thanks very much.

  • Design Query with multiple years and ytd column

I'm trying to design a somewhat dynamic query that looks similar to:
    Jan --- Feb --- Mar --- Apr <b>...</b> Dec --- YTD
    2002
    2003
    2004
    2005
    The problem is two-fold.
First my predecessor had hard-coded the dates for each year (for each column except YTD) but I believe the dates should be dynamic, in the sense that I always receive the last 36 months of history.  (So in 2008, I won't be seeing 2002-2004 data).
Next I need to have this Year-to-date total column.  What this means is that, if we are in August, we see the total for Jan '03-Jul '03 in the 2003 row, Jan '04 - Jul '04 in the 2004 row, etc.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jill Mayo

What you need to do is use restricted key figures for the columns where you either restrict to a variable with offsets or customer exit variables.  I think it would be easier to use variable offsets.  Also, to get the YTD, you can either you an SAP exit variable or create a customer exit variable to calculate the YTD based on the variable value.  To get the Month names, you will need to use text variables for the name of the restricted key figures.
    thanks,
    Jeff

  • SQL Query with variable range

    Hi
I want to give range to a user to enter in a variable through sql query . If there are 200 records , if user wants to display from 5-45 , 75-110 , 130-145. how it can be done through SQl Query
    Thanks
Edited by: Matt on Aug 31, 2010 6:23 PM - modified title - please use a meaningful title in future

    Dear Saini,
This query will allow you to choose the values only when you know them.
    SELECT T0.[DocEntry], T0.[ItemCode] FROM INV1 T0 WHERE T0.[LineNum] >[%0]   and T0.[LineNum] <[%1]
If you run it in the query Generator in SAP Business One a little window will pop up and will ask you to choose the 2 variables.
You can choose different variables every time you run it. At least you won't have to save many queries with different values.
If you want 2 different groups, e.g. from 10 to 20 and from 30 to 40, then you can add another part in the where clause:
    SELECT T0.[LineNum], T0.[ItemCode], T0.[DocEntry] FROM INV1 T0 WHERE T0.[LineNum]  >= [%0] and  T0.[LineNum]  <= [%2] and T0.[LineNum]  >= [%4] or  T0.[LineNum]  <= [%6]
Please, let me know if this query helps.

But when the values for variables are hard coded, the query executes.
I have been working on it from long time, but same error exists. Could anybody help resolve the same...

The error messages may be misleading. With complicated queries with parameter request I frequently saw references to service contract (or something other).
Sometimes SBO does not manage correctly variables in complicated queries and there is a note about the workaround to solve the problem:[Note730960|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=730960]

  • MTD/YTD reporting design, query designer

    Hi BI folks,
I have a requirement to build queries through BEx query designer that show MTD and YTD figures.  I also have multiple versions/value type built into the RKFs already.  I am wondering if there is a way to display YTD/MTD figures, without having to physically restrict them into the RKFs??, (i.e. I would like to have that time restriction sitting on top of the structure as a characteristic).
I am trying to create more flexibility for the end-user, rather that having a huge amount of selections in the structure representing a particular version and time period.
Is there some sort of hierarchy or variable definition that anyone can suggest where I can solve this need?
    Thanks.
    - BJ

    BJ,
this depends on the environment that you are using, but it is fairly simple to do for MTD and YTD.
as there are multiple variables available to be used for this, I consistently use two in the restriction (but you can play around and see what fits your needs the most).  For each structure, you should restrict on the following:
    MTD:
Period Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_PER3
Fiscal Year Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_FYEAR
    QTD:
Period Characteristic - Restrict to Value range from period 00 to variable 0P_PER3
Fiscal Year Characteristic - Restrict to variable 0P_FYEAR
The reason you should have the Fiscal Year there is that you can use the text variable to set the column headers.
Be careful that you use the right KF for this.  You need the periodic activity for the KF.  The reason Period 00 is included as that is where the balance from the prior year is carried over, so if you want to have the YTD values for the Balance Sheet, you would want to include that.  This scenario is the only option in BCS, and it doesn't have the Cumulative values.
you can also use the cumulative values, but that depends on how the KF's are set up
