Report Format completely changes when I export to TXT (plain)

Help!
I finally figured out how to make my details flow "continuously" rather than being "stacked" in a column
(section expert: details: Format with Multiple Columns)
so on the Report, it looks just as I need it to be.  BUT when I export, it comes up in columns again!!
How can I make my export formatting match what I'm viewing?   Its a pretty simple report... but I'm stumped again.
thank you!!

When you are exporting it into TXT (Plain) how many characters per inch are you using??  I created my own interface as well and I used a page size of 8.5x11 but fit in 400 characters by using a font size of 2.  For exporting into plain TXT, I use 53 characters per inch.
Play with that number and by trial and error you will get it all in one line again.

The numbering in (Contents) format keeps changing when making PDF's from Word 2007 ? Using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.

The issue is that I have made up a contract in Word.

  • Volume of song changes when I export movie.

I imported a couple songs to play in the background of my movie. The original 100% volumes were too loud for both of the songs so I turned the volumes down to about 60% using the volume sliders below the audio tracks. But when I exported my movie (I tried both Quicktime web and full quality dvd) the volume of the songs in the background seemed to be playing at full 100% volume again. Is there an "apply volume change" button that I'm not seeing or something?

    Hi into...
I don't have access to iM4 anymore... but as far as I remember: you have a slider for "iMovie" AND you have another one for adjusting the level of a CLIP. so, you need to select an audio clip, THEN apply any volume changes...
sliding the slider under the main view window lowers the playback in iM, but not of the clip....
... or do I misunderstand something completely???

  • Font color changes when I export to pdf

I'm using Pages 08 still, and I'm creating newsletters, should be simple enough.  But when I export to pdf, there are portions of the text that change color.  For example, I have white text and a brown background, and for some reason the text changes to black.  The Pages document still shows it as white, it only happens with the exported pdf document.  I triend deleting the brown background layer, re-exported, but the font color still changes.  Thoughts?

You have not said what version of Pages '08 you are using nor what version of OSX.
For problems like these usually simply updating both Pages '08 and the version of OSX to the latest versions, fixes the problem. That does not mean upgrading to Pages '09 or OSX 10.8.2, just the latest of those you have installed.
Failing that you need to look at what color model your text is. Stick to the cmyk that OSX's pdfs use and avoid rgb which is screen color.

  • Does original change when I export it to Quicktime?

When I export my movie to quicktime (to burn it to a dvd) does that change anything about the original, including how and where to find it (as I always did: by clicking the icon on my desktop)?

No - it has no effect whatsoever on either the original captured footage or what is in your project.
    It can do no harm.

  • My font changes when I export to pdf, not on every page but only a few pages

I am using the font Helvetica, light in my iBook.  It looks the same on every page in iBooks Author, but when I export it to PDF some of the pages look like they are written with font Helvetica bold.  Can anyone suggest a fix?  Thank you

  • CS5 "save as" format menu changed when creating new document

    Hi,
When creating a new document in photoshop CS5 i cannot save as a jpeg or png or the other large list of file types i used to have in the save as format menu,
below is what i used to be able to save as but can only do this when actually opening a jpeg file and not when creating a new document
this is the options i have now
i haven't been using photoshop that long and am no genius with pc's so i'm a little lost here, does anyone know why this has happened and if there is a solution to this, your help will be greatly appreciated. my spec are windows 7 64bit, core i7, nvidia 260gtx.

It looks as if you are creating documents in a format incompatible with certain file types.
For example, check in the New dialog that it is set for RGB Color – 8-bit.

  • Report font is changing when running it on OAS Server(Unix)

    Hi All,
I have a problem with the font of the report that is generated on the server. The font is not the same as it is with the design time of the report. Can any one please let me know how to have the same font in the report on OAS as it had when it was designed.
    regards,
    Prasad.

What is the original font that is used? What is the output font that you get in the PDF? Right click on the PDF and check for the Font Properties. You will have to do Font subsetting in uifont.ali file to bring the desired font.

  • Word Doc Format/Font Changes when Imported into RoboHelp

We currently have RH7. When we went from X5 to RH7 and imported our Word docs (Word 2003), the fonts and styles changed sometimes right after importing and other times after running the Glossary Wizard. It seems like RH7 doesn't want to read Word 2003 styles. Our temporary fix is to import our Word template (that we use for procedures) into each project. Once we import a Word document, we have to change the style sheet to the point to the Word template in order to fix the font and styles. We have to import the template whenever we import procedures or run the Glossary Wizard. Has anyone had this problem? We were able to import no problem with X5, but with version 7 we have to add these extra steps. We did find that when we created a new project in RH7 (not upgraded from Version 5), that we didn't have to import the template and assign the docs to it as the style sheet. Our projects are many and large in volume, so recreating in RH7 is not an option for us. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Isn't the problem here with importing rather than with the webhelp output? I wonder if this post would be better in the RoboHelp HTML forum.

  • Margins change when I export in Adobe Acrobat 8.0?

I put together a magazine in InDesign and then exported to PDF. In Acrobat, I exported again so I could impose the file for the printer. Everything worked wonderfully EXCEPT the margins for the left side of the left page moved in, and the margin for the right side of the left page moved right, so the coil binding is going right through text and graphics. The right page is fine, no problems with margins. HELP! Of course, I need this solved yesterday...

  • Report template auto-changed to Default: HTML

I use the builtin report template "Default: Look 4" for all of my report screens and have a problem when importing the application with a new Application ID.
All reports that use the "Default: Look 4" template get changed to "Default HTML" in the new application and I have to manually change them all back again. This is a real pain because I use the application ID as a form of version control - the old versions of the application are auto-forwarded to the new one - so I end up having to do the change quite often.
Is there a way I can prevent the template from changing?

If it's any help to you, I did a bit of 'vanilla' testing ...
    - create a new workspace TEST
    - Edit Page 1 of the Sample Application
    - Note that the region "My Top Orders" is using layout "template: 12. Standard, Alternating Row Colors"
    - export the Sample Application
    - import the Sample App with Auto-Assign New App ID selected
    - Edit Page 1 in the new application and note that the region template for "My Top Orders" is still set to "template: 12. Standard, Alternating Row Colors"
    - Change the template for "My Top Orders" to "default: Look 4"
    - Export application
    - Import application with auto-assigned AppID
    - Edit "My Top Orders" and note that template is changed to "default: HTML (standard)"
The template is only changed when the exported application uses one of the "default: Look X" templates, other templates are not changed. Also, importing into the same or different application makes no difference, the template is still changed.
Thanks for your quick reply so far Scott!

  • Why are my colors changing when copy and paste a graphic from docA to docB both in illustrator?

Both documents in Illustrator CC are RGB and I'm trying to copy a logo onto a template, but the color of the logo completely changes when I copy and paste it into the template. The logo has three different pinks and they turn red when pasted. There is no graphic styling and the logo is all gradient.

What is weird is that we get a lot of logos from the same company and we put it on shirt templates so they can see size wise on how it would look on shirts. It's happened with other logos, but very slightly. I asked my co-worker who sends me the logos what version she uses and she also uses CC but does not know what version the other company uses. To them, it doesn't matter if the logo colors get altered, they have the PMS colors to work off of for screen printing. I just want to make sure that if another company sends us logos with PMS colors, we will know how to fix it.

  • When Exporting a Crystal Report to Excel format all of the dates get changed when viewed on Mac version of Excel

We're using Crystal Reports 10 and when we export a report from the Crystal Viewer using either the MS Excel 97-2000 option or the MS Excel 97-2000 (Data Only) option, the date columns on the report appear as expected on a PC version of Excel, however, most of the users at our company use Macs so when they open the same report on the Mac version of Excel all of the dates show up as 2011 or 2012 dates eventhough they are suppose to be 2008 dates. We've tried to just open the report after the export process and then do a "Save As" but get the same result. The date columns all appear to be formatted as Date. The dates on the Crystal Viewer appear as expected when viewed on a Mac. The users are running Excel for Mac OS-X Service Release 1.0. Any idea why this may be happening and is there a solution to this problem? Thanks!

    Hi,
To clarify, are you currently using the Mac version of Crystal Reports Viewer 2008 which you downloaded from here?: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/reporting/viewer/index.epx

  • Format changing when IDCS3 file exported to PDF

I am using Acrobat 8 version 8.1.2, and InDesign version 5.0.2.
I am noticing a very specific problem when exporting some files to PDF from InDesign.
We often have a format where we have a numbered list of right-aligned number, followed by some text, a leader line, and then another number at the end of the line. This is set up with a left indent and a first line left indent (rather than using the numbered list options, we are required to do it this way where I work), and then the necessary tabs later in the lines.
I am finding since we switched to IDCS3, that when I export to PDF, lines containing this format change in the PDF. The text that appears after the number in the front of the line is pushed over on top of the leader line, leaving a huge white space. On rarer occasions, it will move things in lines that have no indents, but contain tabs that aren't being used.
I have been able to get the files to export correctly by removing the left indent and first-line left indent and using tabs instead (or by removing unused tabs). But we have hundreds of files set up in this manner so going in and changing how they are all set up is problematic to say the least. Many of these are also multi-line and not using the indents means we have to manually tab lines over.
Is this a known issue? Does anyone know why this might happen and how I can prevent it?
I tried posting in the Acrobat forums and it was suggested since it's an export issue that I might get more help from the InDesign folks.

Given that the file is being exported to PDF and not going via a driver route, there really is no reason why changing the default printer should make a difference whatsoever in this particular case. Changing default drivers in Microsoft Office applications, yes, but for this situation, no. And since Acrobat doesn't change formatting, the issue sounds like some problem associated with InDesign. Please report this problem directly to Adobe Tech Support and be prepared to send them sample files. Thanks!

  • Format Changes when Exporting to PDF

I'm using Crystal 12.0 and have an issue very similar to these threads listed below.
While viewing a report on my development machine, all is fine.  I can export to PDF and the formatting is OK.
However, when the report is exported to PDF on the web server, the spacing between some of the text is off.  The spacing is used for a CrossTab cell in a "Display String" that I changed using "Format Field."   All that's supposed to happen here is several spaces are used to move the text under the proper column.
When exporting to PDF on the web, the text moves over to the left like it's missing some of the spaces.  I wondering if the below threads apply to Crystal 12.0.

Format Changes when Exporting to PDF
    Thanks kindly for your assistance,
    -Marty

I'm having a very similar problem using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2008. Everything is perfect when running in VS 2008, it takes the report and exports it to PDF format via VB code. The PDF file is idenitcal to the report. However, when run on the server the one page report (when exported to PDF) gets chopped into ten 4x4 chunks. So the PDF file is 10 pages....its like puzzle pieces of the original.
I've drawn a bunch of lines on the report to look like boxes - perhaps this is causing issues? The font on the report is Arial.
The server has the 10_5 runtime installed and it is set to the same default printer as the development PC. I have been stuck on this for days and would really appreciate any advice you may have.
    Thanks!
