Report ignoring parameter value from Crystals own dialog box

Hi,
Iu2019m using VB 2008, Crystal 2008 SP1. Iu2019m not embedding the reports, simply opening the .rpt file from an OpenFileDialog and using the below code. Very basic stuff. The report itself has 1 SQL table in it and 1 parameter.
            Dim report As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            report.Load(mReportFile, CrystalDecisions.Shared.OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByDefault)
            crvMain.ReportSource = report
            crvMain.RefreshReport()
Yet the parameter thatu2019s used as a record selection is ignored and all the records are shown. I canu2019t see whatu2019s missing here. The .rpt file works fine in Crystal 2008, just not in the viewer, even when i debug. Iu2019ve found a crystal viewer FOC (SaberLogic Logicity) based on 2008, where the .rpt file works. Iu2019m thinking it must be a vb.net coding error or omission in my project.

Hello,
There are two things I can see.
The first is a known issue described in the [Note 1204895|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_erq/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do].
The second is the line "crvMain.ReportSource = report" will preview the report.
The line "crvMain.RefreshReport()" just refreshes it and would require parameters again.

  • Passing Value from Crystal Report (special function) to Business View parameter

    Friends,
                 Í have a scenario where i need to pass value from Crystal Report to a Business view's parameter.
    Eg : CurrentCEUsername (func in crystal report)-- gives login user  which i should pass to parameter in a Business view (used in the same report).
    Will be able to explain more if required.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Bharath

    I guess you got the picture wrong.  User_id is not a report_level parameter .
    In Data Foundation, below query is used..
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id={?User_id}
    where in {?User_id}  is the BV parameter...
    The Filter was a solution. But it takes long time to Query all the data from DB and then filter at BV level.
    How do i pass the CurrentCEUsername to {?User_id}
    Value should ve CurrentCEusername always. so that query will be
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id=CurrentCEusername
    It will restrict the data pulled from DB to BV .. right?

  • Unable to get parameter values from a remote database

    I am linking to a remote database view via a synonym in Oracle and trying to retrieve parameter values from it.  The username and password are the same for the local and remote database and I can run the SQL query using SQL plus against the database and values are returned.  However, when I try and run the same query in Crystal Reports (XI) I receive an Oracle error:
    "An attempt was made to connect or log in to a remote database using a connection description that could not be found.
    Action:
    Specify an existing database link. Query the data dictionary to see all existing database links. See your operating system-specific Net8 documentation for valid connection descriptors. "
    How can it be that Crystal cannot run the query when it is valid in SQL plus?
    Any tips/info would be appreciated.
    many thanks
    Claire
    Oracle is version 10

    When running one of the reports in VS.Net this is the error I receive:
    "A first chance exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in crystaldecisions.crystalreports.engine.dll
    Additional information: Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Details:  [Database Vendor Code: 2019 ]
    Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Error in File C:\DOCUME1\CLAIRE1.REE\LOCALS~1\Temp\{0C6C6DD5-B958-4E10-A2AA-928C58E1B7CE}.rpt:
    Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Details:  [Database Vendor Code: 2019 ]"
    When running the same report in Crystal Reports designer I receive this error message:
    "Prompting failed with the following error message: 'List of Values failure: fail to get values. [Cause of error: Failed to retrieve data from the database.  Details: [Database Vendor Code: 2019].  Failure to retrieve data from the database.  Error in File UNKNOWN.RPT.  Failure to retrieve data from the database.  Details: [Database Vendor Code: 2019]]'.
    Error source: prompt.dll Error code: 0x8004380D"
    So this one is also failing in the designer.
    All the parameters in the main report are static and the ones in the subreport are passed in from the main report.

  • URL Reporting Time parameter value.

    We have installed Business objects XIR2 and one of our application uses URL reporting to call a crystal report. Parameter values are retrieved from the database and used in the url.  Reports that do not have a time parameter works fine.  Even though I pass the time parameter value Im still prompted for the value.  The format of the url I use is http://hostname/businessobjects/viewrpt.cwr?init=dhtml&apstoken=<token>&prompt0=02:02:20&prompt1=LOCCODE
    where prompt0 is of type par_time.  Could someone please help me with the correct format to use for parameter type time?

    Ted, I checked the prompt order and the prompt type and they are correct.  These reports are working fine on Crystal 9.  Also reports that do not have a time parameter works fine in Crystal 11. Its only when reports with time parameter are called Im prompted for a value to be entered in hh:mm:ss format although I tried passing the value in hh:mm:ss format and Time(hh, mm, ss) format in the url.  The report comes up fine after entering the value in hh:mm:ss value in the prompt.  I tried encoding the url but it didnt work.  If I encode the entire url Crystal prompts me to enter values for all parameters.

  • How to omit parameter values from exceptions thrown by the JDBC driver

    Is there a way to get the Oracle JDBC driver to omit the parameter values from the message when it throws an exception?
    We have an application that persists credit cards and when an exception is thrown by the driver, it's including the credit card number in the error message, which ultimately gets logged by the application. There are too many layers and locations, including OpenJPA, Spring, and our own application, where we'd have to massage the error data to remove that card number.
    For example, we get the following exception:
    Caused by: org.apache.renamed.openjpa.lib.jdbc.ReportingSQLException: ORA-20104: Permission denied
    ORA-06512: at "PROTEGRITY.PTY", line 57
    ORA-06512: at "PROTEGRITY.PTY", line 383
    ORA-06512: at "SUBSDSYS.TORDERPAYMENT_UPD", line 16
    ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'SUBSDSYS.TORDERPAYMENT_UPD'
    {prepstmnt 6603044
    UPDATE PAYMENT
         SET CARD_HOLDER_NAME = ?, CARD_TYPE = ?, EXPIRY_MONTH = ?, EXPIRY_YEAR = ?, GATEWAY = ?
         WHERE UIDPK = ?

    at org.apache.renamed.openjpa.lib.jdbc.LoggingConnectionDecorator.access$800(LoggingConnectionDecorator.java:57)
    The actual content of the message appears to come from the JDBC driver, not OpenJPA.
    This particular example doesn't show the card number, but only exposed that possibility as a risk.
    BTW: before you ask, for PCI compliance we're using a database layer service to encrypt the card numbers before they're stored in the table.
    Thanks much.

    I would start looking at the source code starting here:

  • Problem in getting parameter value from selection screen in web dynpro abap

    Hi,
    I am facing problem in getting parameter value from selection screen.
    Please find my code below:
    DATA LT_PAR_ITEM TYPE IF_WD_SELECT_OPTIONS=>TT_SELECTION_SCREEN_ITEM.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS:<FS_PAR_ITEM> LIKE LINE OF LT_PAR_ITEM,

             ASSIGN <FS_PAR_ITEM>-M_VALUE->* TO <FS_OBJ_USAGE>.
    [ Here, sy-subrc is 4,  <FS_OBJ_USAGE> is not assigning.]
        ENDCASE.
      ENDLOOP.
    So, can any one solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    Radhika

    Hi Radhika,
    Try using GET_RANGE_TABLE_OF_SEL_FIELD...
    Please Refer below code..
       DATA: NODE_FLIGHTS TYPE REF TO IF_WD_CONTEXT_NODE.
      DATA: RT_CARRID TYPE REF TO DATA.
      DATA: ISFLIGHT TYPE TABLE OF SFLIGHT.
      DATA: WSFLIGHT TYPE SFLIGHT.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS: <FS_CARRID> TYPE TABLE.
    Retrieve the data from the select option
      RT_CARRID = WD_THIS->M_HANDLER->GET_RANGE_TABLE_OF_SEL_FIELD( I_ID = 'S_CARR_ID' ).
    Assign it to a field symbol
      ASSIGN RT_CARRID->* TO <FS_CARRID>.
      CLEAR ISFLIGHT. REFRESH ISFLIGHT.
      SELECT * INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE ISFLIGHT FROM SFLIGHT
                           WHERE CARRID IN <FS_CARRID>.
      NODE_FLIGHTS = WD_CONTEXT->GET_CHILD_NODE( NAME = `FLIGHTS` ).
      NODE_FLIGHTS->BIND_ELEMENTS( ISFLIGHT ).
    Thanks,

  • Get parameter value from PLSQL portal Item

    Hi,
    i have some page link like :
    http://server:7777/portal/page?...&myparameter=test
    I don't know how to get myparameter. I want to access this parameter value in a PlSql portal Item in this page
    can somenone help me ?
    is there an API to get those parameters?
    thanks in advance
    Joao

    If do you want to get a parameter value from an item, you'll need to construct a procedure that receive your parameter value and configure your item to call this procedure.
    But If you want to get a parameter from a portal page, first you need to configure the parameter in page properties, construct a portlet and configure "function describe_parameters" to get the parameter and work your parameter in "procedure show".

  • How to get parameter value from report in event of value-request?

    You probably want to look at function module DYNP_VALUES_READ to allow you to read the values of the other screen fields during the F4 event... below is a simple demo of this - when you press F4 the value from the p_field is read and returned in the p_desc field.

  • Retruning parameter/value from report to form - (Urgent)

    Hi ,
    I am calling a report (2.5) from a form using RUN_PRODUCT. I would like to know if there is any way to do the following.
    (a) Return a value from reports to calling form. For ex. I would like to know the last Item name (assuming the reports prints all items in inventory) printed. I am sending a from and to numbers of item id's (range) and I need to know the last item printed.
    (b). Check the success of report. For example, while printing the 5 items (the range that I passed) if there is any error in printing , this should be tracked either in the form or report. If this is not possible using run_product , If I need to use srw package, how to use it. Can I call the report as usual with run_product and in the after parameter trigger can, I call the report again and track error.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Print Multiple Parameter Value in Crystal Report 2008

    Hello and Hi
    i want to select multiple warehouse  in a pramater , i select and report working but parameter print only first parameter  value on report.how can print all selected values on report

    Hi
    I am assuming you select warehouses  WH1,WH2,WH3,.......
    You have to create a formula in Crystal
    It should look like this
    Join({?YourParamaterName},",")
    Place the formula on your report.
    The last Part of the formula is the "notation break"  between every parameter returned. In this case a >   ,   <
    Return would be WH1,WH2,WH3,.......
    Join({?YourParamaterName},"#")  would return  WH1#WH2#WH3#.......
    Hope you get the idea
    If this solution helps, please rate me.

  • Pass parameter value from oracle reports to HTML

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell me if i can pass oracle reports6i parameter value to HTML.
    Any ideas/suggestions would be helpful
    Thanks
    KAvitha

    Kavitha,
    I didnt quite understand your question. Do you mean you want to use the report parameter form and pass the values entered there to an html form where you will display the output based on the parameters entered by the user ?
    If so, No. Not to the best of my knowledge. You can pass parameters from an html form to reports though, if this is what you are looking for.

  • How can i pass parameter values from html to a shell script

    Hi Guys...
    I had a requirement where i need to execute a sql statement and print the output in HTML page. This report has parameters to enter. So i created a HTML form which accepts parameters. When the submit button is pressed, the action tag in the form invokes unix shell script file. It will open sqlplus and run the sql script file .sql and print the output in the HTML page.
    sql script contains the query and some set options which prints the output in HTML page. Like "SET MARKUP HTML ON"... The query has some parameters like "select * from emp where empno = &&empnumber. I will use the same name "empnumber" while created the HTML parameter form like " <input type = "text" name="empnumber" size="10" align="left">.
    user sees this parameter form and enters some value in to that empno text box.
    My question is how can i catch these parameter values in a shell script and pass it to the sql script to execute it.
    Help Appreciated
    Thanx

    This is a A Bad Idea (tm). This type of CGI processing is old and were (and still is) full of security holes. Very easy to inject stuff (Unix commands and SQL) into it.. To get those parameters into SQL*Plus requires using Unix shell commands to process it - and something like a backquote allows all kinds of nasty stuff to be injected. The Unix shell was never designed to be used as a secure CGI environment.
    There are far better and far superior alternatives. Perl (with Perl_DBI) and PHP (using Zend Core for Oracle) come to mind as web scripting languages.
    Even easier is using HTMLDB. Very few moving parts. Is free. Supports Oracle 9.2 and 10G.

  • Calling report with parameter screen from form using frmrwinteg

    Hi,
         I am calling a report with a parameter screen from a form and am using the frmrwinteg bean. This works fine on our test application server but, when moved onto our production application server, the database logon screen is presented after pressing the submit button on the parameter screen. The cause of the problem seems to be the html generated to simulate the parameter screen. The html on the test application server contains a BASE tag in the HEAD section with an href starting "http:/servername.companyname.com". However, the same tag in the html generated on the production application server is missing the ".companyname.com", causing the cookie produced by the frmrwinteg bean to not be found. Does anyone know how the BASE href tag is generated and what I need to change to get the correct BASE href value? I am using Forms/Reports 10g R2 and Application Server 10.1.2.
    Cheers.....

    Appendix "A" of this document describes how cookie_domain works:

  • Parameter value from app is not being used

    Hi,
    I have .NET application which renders the report from BOE using infoObject model. This report has parameter and the paramter info is passed from the application using following code.
    CrystalReportViewer1.EnterpriseLogon = enterpriseSession;
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = (Report)infoObject;
    CrystalReportViewer1.ParameterFieldInfo = parameterFields;
    But when I try to run this form...though the parameterfields have the detail of the paramter still Promt screen is scheduled by BOE to provide input for the parameter...
    Can someone help me on this why the parameter value I am sending is not being used.
    Thanks
    Kajal

    It might have something to do with how you are creating your parameter field collection that you are passing to the viewer.  Please refer to the ViewReportParameter sample in the following collection available [here|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/node/5794]

  • Webi Report ignores decimal values

    Hi,
    I have a report which takes data from a BI Infocube. I have BOE XI 3.1 installed on two systems. When I run this report on one system, the report works fine and numeric values are displayed along with decimal values ( ex 100.25). However the same report when executed in the other system ignores the decimal values (ex 100).
    I check the preferred viewing locale in the preferences and it is set to default values in both the systems.
    I have no clue what could have gone wrong.
    Any inputs on this issue will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rahul Mainkar

    You are right. No Fix Pack is installed.
    Probably the system, which is NOT truncating the decimal part has been installed on a Windows server where the local system account has EN-US regional settings. This should not be the case for the system which is truncating your numbers.
    A work-around is to create a domain account which is member of the local administrators group on the BOBJ servers. You should log on once on each of your two servers using this account and adjust the Regional Setting (Start->Control Panel) to English-United States. Invoke the CCM utility and open the Properties window of your SIA and Tomcat. Enter the credentials of your new user in  the "Run as"  area and restart your services. This will solve your problem.

    Stratos
