Report in Excel for large rows - issue

Developer suite 9iAS with Oracle 9.2.0.4 ,Linux
While generating in the excel format if the no of records exceeds more than 600 then the report server is not working.
In Excel format the alignment is not equivalent to HTML or PDF format
HTML format is primarily for view in the screen, If the user takes printout then it is not having the proper page break as it can not be controlled through programme.
Record grouping is not possible in excel format.
Have anybody solved these issues? Please suggest

hello,
9.0.4 does not have an excel output format. which output format (HTML, HTMLCSS, DELIMITED, DELIMITEDDATA, ...) are you using to produced the output for excel.
when you say printout ... what output format does your app send to reports ? what do you mean by "no proper page breaks|" ?
thanks,
ph.

  • Saving Report to excel for Infoview User

    We are using Business Objects 6.5 and we have quite a lot infoview users. As we know Infoview users do not have privilege to save report as excel so is it possible to make Infoview users save reports as excel?
    NOTE : We dont want to upgrade them as Webi Users.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Santosh.

    Simple test, login into infoview as general supervisor, open full client report and see if you can export or save as to Excel.
    If you can - then it's rights issue, if you can't - try with latest Service Pack for 6.5. I think it's Sp4 but I might be wrong.
    If you can't do this using general supervisor and in latest version of 6.5 - you're out of luck.
    What are you even doing being still on 6.5 ??

  • Classic report - Condition evaluated for every row

    APEX 4.2.2
    I am seeing something strange in a classic report region. A report started to fail at run-time with a strange error about bad syntax. When I run the page in debug mode, I see the following
    print column headings
    rows loop: 30 row(s)
    ...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := '' is not null;
    end;
    ......Result = false
    ...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := '' is not null;
    end;
    ......Result = false
    ...Execute Statement: begin wwv_flow.g_boolean := 'string with a embedded ' single quote' is not null;
    end;
    ......Result = true
    Looks like the APEX engine is evaluating a boolean expression after rendering and each and every row in the report. And for some strange reason, it is using a piece of data from my query's resultset and failing because of the bad syntax introduced due to the single-quote in the string.
    I have never seen this before. Any idea what is going on?
    Thanks

    Howdy Paul, sorry should have provided all the details. No, this is a standard generic column template. Ah, you are right, drat I should have looked closer. The template has use a condition to show either a highlighted row or normal one. Sorry for the false alarm, I can take it from here. Enjoy your flight :-)

  • Financial Reporting: Suppress pages for large sparse dimension combinations

    Hello,
    I am trying to create a Financial Reporting report that shows only pages that are populated with data, but the dimensions that I have on the page are fairly large and very sparse. There are 8,000+ combinations of sparse members, only of which about 120 have data populated and those 120 are what I want to return on my report. I can't call out the page member combinations individually as new combinations appear regularly and I want to avoid running maintenance on the report definition each time the data in the cube is refreshed. My report isn't executing, so I suspect it is running for each of the 8,000+ combinations before determining whether or not it should render each particular page. Does this behavior sound right? If so, is there a workaround or some other trick to get Financial Reporting to test for the presence of populated combinations before rendering the pages?
    Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Rob M
    Synapse Group/Time, Inc.

    You can achieve this by doing following:
    1. Open report
    2. Select grid (left top corner)
    3. On 'Properties' window, select suppression
    4. Select '#Missing' in 'Basic option' section.
    Good luck & let me of the results.

  • Report output format xml, missing column while open in excel for single row

    Dear,
    There is a strange case, we have an customize concurrent program to display output in xml format. Now Problem is, if query get single record on the bases of parameter then there is no column heading available in excel. However, if parameter meet more than one record then there is no issue with column heading and reports is working find.
    Pls have an idea?

    Dear Pk,
    Here is an example, will show the actual problem. Let explain you, first i have run report by restricting query on single record which output name is "output1", again i run same report by changing where clause so it return multiple row which is "output2". if you past code in text document each one and save it as xml but when you open this file in excel report you will find column heading which rows consist multiple row, however, ouput1 file have no heading columns that's a problem.

  • Asset Report S_ALR_87011990 Excel 2013 64 Bit issue

    Hello Expert,
    Some of my users has upgraded MS Office 2013 64 bits version. All SAP reports work fine in ALV grid. Only asset report S_ALR_87011990 show blank values in the output. I checked all possible excel macro settings in excel and they are fine, but still result is same. In cases where user has upgraded MS Office 2013 in 32 bit version there it works fine and no issue.
    Any clue what could be the reason 64 bit version is not supported by GUI. I am using GUI 730.
    Did anyone faces similar situation. Please share your adopted solution. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Yuki,
    Excel macro settings is already in place and as I said it works on 32 version, but not on 64 bit version.
    Any other clue?

  • Drill Through report not working for large data

    Hi,
    In SSRS 2008 R2, I have a main report and a drill through report from one of the main report's column. The drill through report works mostly except if the data is too large i.e. more than 1 million records. How to fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    Jkrishna

    Nope. WHat I meant was not to show the entire data in child report (ie your 1 million records). Instead add extra parameter as PageNumber. By default set it as 1 when you navigate to child report (default value)
    Then in query behind use a ROW_NUMBER based logic like below
    SELECT *
    FROM
    SELEC ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY <combination of unique valued column(s)>) AS Rn,...
    Your existing query other columns
    )t
    WHERE Rn BETWEEN ((@PageNo-1) * 1000) + 1 AND @PageNo * 1000
    Assuming you want 1000 per page
    So when it renders it will show first 1000 records. Add a NextPage icon to report footer and when clicked add a jump to report functionality to same report but with PageNumber parameter value as
    =Parameters!PageNumber.Value + 1
    and it will then give you second page data etc

    Hello ,
    When downloading a report to excel from OBIEE Dashboard , certain rows are getting hidden . For instance , I have total 15 rows in my pivot view and when I download that report into excel format , the rows from 8-13 are not showing up . After 7th row I see 14th row .

    I tried looking at the formatting options of the pivot view and everything is normal . This is happening only with this particular report , other reports in dashboard download normally .
    Please let me know if anybody has ideas .

    Hi,
    This DeskI Report uses customer based prompt.When exporting the report as excel for all customers ,it gives consolidated data of all the customers.But i need to export it in such a way that,if i am prompting the report for five different customers ,the exported excel should be in five different excel sheets.
    If any body has got any idea how to do this,please reply soon.
    I am using BO XI release2 version.

    Hi Philipe,
    This issue has been fixed in Service Pack 4 for BOXIR2 fixes this issue.
    The related ADAPT id is ADAPT00962089.
    Could you please upgrade your client to SP4.
    Might be your server and cleint isnot on same patch level that is why you are getting this issue.
    As Shreyas already updated you to MS office 2003 SP3 is not supported with BOXIR2 this is the other reason because DAO properties of MS office 2003 SP3 is not supported with BOXIR2 and when you export the data either through infoview or through desktop intelligence clien itself local MS office comes inot picture.

  • Report to Excel

    In the recent past, my team has received multiple requests to convert a standard report into excel for various valid business reasons. The standard SAP features mentioned below which lets you save the file does not fully meet the request:
    Option-1 (List->Export->Spreadsheet) - Even though this option letu2019s you save the report in excel format, it does not save any of the report totals.
    Option-2 (List->Local File-> Spreadsheet) u2013 This options lets you save the report including the totals in excel format. However, this option requires significant amount of time in reformatting the report
    I would like to know is there any alternative solutions including 3rd party solution which will require very minimal effort on the user side to convert the standard report into excel, preferably a WYSIWYG in excel relative to a standard SAP report?
    Please advice.

    hi naveen kumar,
    You can use the FM - ALV_XXL_CALL.
    It is the same function module invoked when you click on the export to excel button of the ALV.
    You can pass teh field catalog of the ALV here along with the name of ur internal table and the internal table itself. It will download everything to Excel alongwith the Column headers ( depending on ur field catalog definition). Just make sure ur field catalog has the COL_Heading correctly populated.
    Sample Code - CALL FUNCTION 'ALV_XXL_CALL'
    EXPORTING
    i_tabname = 'T_GRID' " Name of the Internal table
    it_fieldcat = t_fcatk[] " Field catalog
    TABLES
    it_outtab = t_grid " Interbnal table with data
    EXCEPTIONS
    fatal_error = 1
    no_display_possible = 2
    OTHERS = 3.
    IF sy-subrc 0.
    MESSAGE e806(bk).
    ENDIF.

  • Excel o/p in Reports 9i-additional report header for every row

    Dear All,
    Is there any way to generate an Excel file output from OracleReports9i.Actually I have tried the simple report.
    I am able to create a delimited output.But the prob is it contains an additional report header for every row of the report and this is very strange.Its coming like that
    Empno     Ename     Job     7566     JONES      MANAGER
    Empno     Ename     Job     7902     FORD      ANALYST
    I need the Xls o/p like that
    Empno     Ename          Job
    7566     JONES      MANAGER
    7902     FORD      ANALYST
    8877 JAMES SALES
    my Environment oracle9i developersuite /forms9i/reports9i
    I have given     DESFORMAT = DELIMITED
              MODE      = CHARACTER
    I am able to generate the reports in html/HTMLCSSIE/HTMLCSS/PDF/RTF
    Only delimited is giving problem
    What should i do to resolve this issue. Please help me it is very very urgent for me.
    Thanks in advance
    Pavendhan.N

    I had the same problem and this is what I did, works great. You have the total control.
    function BeforeReport return boolean is
    fp text_io.file_type;
    begin
    -- creating a file name
    :CP_filename := 'C:\Gap'||to_char(sysdate,'MMDDYYHHMISS')||'.csv';
    -- Opening the file in write mode
    fp := text_io.fopen(:CP_filename,'w');
    -- writing the column headings into the file
    text_io.put_line(fp,'"Platform","Sys#","GapType",');
    text_io.fclose(fp);
    return (TRUE);
    end;
    and then where ever it is suitable, depending on the requirement, write into file by opening it in the append mode.
    function R_G_systemplatformFormatTrigge return boolean is
    fp text_io.file_type;
    begin
    --     srw.message(99,:dname);
    fp := text_io.fopen(:CP_filename,'a');
    text_io.put(fp,'"' || :systemplatform || '",');
    text_io.put(fp,'"' || to_char(:sysno) || '",');
    text_io.put_line(fp,'"' || :CF_gaptype || '",');
    text_io.fclose(fp);
    return (TRUE);
    end;
    This works great. Hope this helps.

  • Row/data size limit when saving DESKI report to Excel?

    Users are getting an "(Error: INF  )" message when attempting to save a report to Excel. When the report has been generated using a smaller date range it generates 12,104 rows and saves successfully to Excel. When a larger date range is specified the report generates 18,697 rows and generates the above error message and does not produce an Excel file. The Excel file size for the 12,104 rows is 18.5 MB; the 18,697 row file would be in the neighborhood of 25+ MB. The row limits on Excel are well above what we're generating, so we're thinking there's a brick wall in the process that creates the Excel file from the BObj report?
    We are running XIr2 patched to SP4 on Windows servers/XP desktops using MS SQL Server database softwear.

    Hi Sarbhjeet,
    Thank you for all your help.
    Further to our investigation we found that this is known issue and it is a limitation of the Product, it wont be fixed.
    The ADAPT for the same is ADAPT00743734
    It is reproducible with XI 3.1 as well.
    FYI...........
    1. PDF Engine will get the rendering information from the busobj. If there is a character size differences between PDF and busobj, there are chances that you may see bigger cells or reduced data in PDF.
    2. In the report when Fit to 1 page by 1 wide in Pagesetup->FitToPrint, the page size will be set to the fit the complete report in busobj.
    3. When save as PDF, this information (increased page size, due to settings in 2) will be sent to PDF Engine. The Engine will try to fit the size into the available standard PDF size (based on Print settings and other combinations).If it tries to fit the report (enhanced page size) to the available size, then we loose lot of information depending on the number of columns and rows.
    4. Shrinking the report in busobj may not feasible.
    When we change the page size in Fit to Print (either Adjust to % or Fit to ) , in reporter it changes the page size instead of changing the rendering to fit to the page.
    When save the report to PDF, it gets the information with extended page size. So we see the enhanced page in PDF.
    Also in order to implement the shrink (instead of changing the Page size), each cell has to be shrieked to the percentage of the reduced page (compared to the original page size). It becomes more complicated when charts come to picture.
    I hope the above information helps.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anisa

  • Repeating row texts when exporting web report to Excel

    Dear all,
    When exporting a web report (including a structure/hierarchy) to Excel (via the 'export to excel button), the row texts (e.g. balance sheet texts) appear twice (column A and B)in the Excel result.
    When using the web context menu 'Export to Excel' this issue does not occur.
    I am using a BW 3.5 system which has been upgraded to support pack 16.
    I assume it is the combination of the structure and the 'export to excel' functionality that does not match up, because when I switch off the hierarchy functionality in the web report query properties, the export to excel does not give me any problems.
    Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arjan.

    Did you write that software, COTS package called Medgate?
    If not then ask that company for support. No one here would know how to fix it. They are using the CR RDC report engine.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Report in Excel format fails for huge amount of data with headers!!

    Hi All,
    I have developed an oracle report which fetches upto 5000 records.
    The requirements is to fetch upto 100000 records.
    This report fetches data if the headers are removed. If headers are given its not able to fetch the data.
    Have anyone faced this issue??
    Any idea to fetch huge amount of data by oracle report in excel format.
    Thanks & Regards,
    KP.

    Hi Manikant,
    According to your description, the performance is slow when display huge amount of data with more than 3 measures into powerpivot, so you need the hardware requirements for build a PowerPivot to display huge amount of data with more than 3 measures, right?
    PowerPivot benefits from multi-core processors, large memory and storage capacities, and a 64-bit operating system on the client computer.
    Based on my experience, large memory, multiprocessor and even
    solid state drives are benefit PowerPivot performance. Here is a blog about Memory Considerations about PowerPivot for Excel for you reference.

    Besides, you can identify which query was taking the time by using the tracing, please refer to the link below.
