Report in Text File
Hi,
I have to migrate a report in excel. I generated it as delimited and then loaded in MS excel. The lines are being wrapped when migrate in MS excel. Does anybody know, how to fix this issue. We are using report version 6i
I remember there used be a parameter file "PRINTER" in older report versions where we change the length of notepad, but I did not find anything like it here

How to generate reports in text file without totals
Hi!!!
Does anybody knows how can I generate a report in text file
(separated by |), but without the lines with totalizations ?
In my application, the user can choose if he wants the output
in HTML,PDF or a text file. So, the solution to this question
must be implemented in code.
Thanks a lot,
Anderson. If you put a formatting trigger on any item or frame and return FALSE, it will disappear.
So the totals need to be within a frame which has a trigger which returns false if text file is chosen. -
Is it possible to export the out put of Crystal report into text file?
Hi All,
Is it possible to export the out put of Crystal report into text file?Hi
Yes, Go to File --> Export --> Export Report --> Under Format select TEXT & select the destination as "Disk file"(defaultly selected)
Give the proper details as per your requirement for "Characters per inch" & "Number of lines per page" & click on 'OK"
In "Choose Export file" window, select the destination folder & provide file name. click on "SAVE"

Print report into TEXT file format
How am I going to produce a text file report from report builder?
-- I want all the layout header, page number, time as preview windows.
-- I use charactor mode to build the report, then use option "generate to file - delimited".(but the layout was messy)
-- After save the file, the layout is totally different from preview window.
How can I overcome this problem. Thank you for helping.hello Tan Chin Chye,
if you create your report in character mode, then if you pass/set parameter mode to character, then you can create text file by supplying values for parameters destype (file), desformat (selected printer file - you may customize some for yourself - number of characters per line, number of lines pre page, some control sequences ...) and desname (name of file to create). not sure about creating such file from previewer, but you can try print and then print to file option ... in character mode this should produce plain text ...

Generate a report in text file format
Hello Experts,
I need to write a program to generate a report in a text file format which is later saved on a directory in the application server. I have the fields with the sources defined and also the filters, selections, rows and columns. For example:-
0company code (US) as the filter, 0CALDAY as the selection, CUSTNAM as the object in the row with sources coming from BUKRS and ZSD_CCUST. Can someone initiate or direct me to an already existing forum or throw some light on the issue.
Thanks,Hi,
As mentioned above, the Open Hub service allows to extract data from an InfoCube/ODS/InfoObject and then store it a database table or flat file stored in the application server. You can start in transaction RSBO and create an InfoSpoke there.
To schedule an extraction using an InfoSpoke, you need to place it in a process chain. -
Save a report (or text file) in pdf format?
Hi,
I like to save a kind of log file in a non changeable format like pdf.
I'm using the DSC module under LabVIEW are there some possibilities?
Or is there a chance to save text file into a postscript file?
Thanks for help,
martinHallo Martin,
to be able to write to a PDF file you need some extra software that is able to create those files.
Most of those programs are installing themselves as printer drivers, so if you want to wrate a table into a pdf file you will have to create a report and print it. LabVIEW insrtalls a couple of exaples regarding report generation, online I found an example for "printing" the frontpanel screen into a PDF.

for eg.
if u internal table has values like

row2
row3
concatenate the 1st record lv_crlf into first record.
conactenate second record lv_crlf into second record.
concatenate third record lv_crlf into third record.
now attach the internal table to the FM which u use for sending email. Each and every row will come in new line. The LV_CRLF will hold nothing but a line feed character (#).
Hope it will solve u r problem

Problem in creating text file from report file
Hello Everybody...
I have problem in creating text file.
I had set System Parameter as below
DESTYPE : File
MODE : Character
DESNAME : gayu.txt
And ruler setting
Units : Character Cells
Character Cell Size : Horiziontal = 7
Vertiacle =12
GridSpacing : 1
no of snap points per grid spacing : 1
but when i run report it will give error
"REP_1219 M_2 or R_2 has no size -- length or width zero"
so is there any solution of that
or another way to convert report into text file?....Hi Folks,
Please don't go after that Error as its a very deceptive one. Please don't go for altering your design Or changing the size of items in your layout.
Similar errors I have come across in reports. I think its due to file transfer type. You might have transferred the file in Binary and your File Mode I am seeing it as CHAR.
This normally happens while making the Report Format as "Text". Either you change that format which I think is possible in your case as your basic requirement is making a report output of CHAR type.
Please check for this error in Metalink and proceed accordingly. I could fix similar errors when I changed Format type to PDF(from text).

Generating Text Files from reports
Hi all,
Could anyone help me to generate reports to text files using command line. I could do this using the menus but I need to do it by command line.
I tried to use the DESFORMAT parameter but the values for this parameter do not include a value for a text file. I could find PDF, HTML, RTF and.....
Thanks in advanceHi,
Try using DESFORMAT=DELIMITED eg.
rwrun60.exe REPORT="XXXXX.RDF" USERID=userid/passwordf@databaseid DESTYPE=FILE DESFORMAT=DELIMITED DELIMITER=TAB DESNAME="XXX.TXT" BATCH=YES
I think the default delimiter is TAB but you can specify your own delimiter. There is a list of command line options and delimiter options on the Reports Runtime Help.
I hope this helps !

How to export report to excel and to text file in previewer
How to export report to excel?
And, it takes long time for generate report to rtf or pdf file in previewer.
How to speed up the process? or, it's better generate report to text file directly by Run_product?
Please help! You can generate report to tab delimite format that can be imported to excel.
As for the performance question, because reports can't specify what format when you run against previewer, so I don't know what previewer you are talking about. Generate to file is always faster than to your application previewer (assume) because you have one more step after output generated in the file: read from file and render it. Depends on the render and size of the output, it may have significant performance difference.
