Report links to Report

Greetings all,
I have no idea why I am confused on what I am trying to do. I have a Report that Generates a tabluar view off all tickets the actual ticket has 25 fields to be filled in, but of course on the tabular view, I only have four of the relevant fields that the user can see.
Example:
TICKETID TICKETDESCRIPTION TICKETSTATUS TICKETOWNER
0001 Stuff Broke Awaiting Customer Bob
0002 Part Missing Open Fred
0003 Need Help with Stuff

Sorry folks this disappeared so I created another post, so this was half finished. Not sure how to delete it.

  • Error In ECC For Crystal Report Containing Sub-Report Link

    Hi,
    We are using Crystal Reports 2013. We extracted a Crystal Report from SAP ECC to modify it further utilizing the features of Crystal and export it back to SAP ECC.
    The updated Crystal Report has a Sub-Report link within it, while exporting it back to SAP ECC, we get the attached error message as "layout.subreport should not contain any data connections".
    However, on removing the Sub-Report link, the report can be successfully exported back to ECC and executes without any issues.
    Is there any limitation on features to be used when exporting Crystal Reports to ECC?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mitalee

  • Question: using links in report to copy data into form for update

    Hi there,
    I have a report that selects data from one a table, and i want to populate a form to update the report info and more info that a user will enter into another table. With alot of help I have managed to get the first 3 column fields across by editing the report link, under report attributes -> column link. The values of Item 1 to Item 3 work fine, but how do i get the rest of the info in the other 5 columns across??
    regards

    I think you're trying to reinvent the htmldb wheel.
    Have you tried looking at the wizards that help you do this?
    Anyway, as an example, to populate the form using the pk
    1: create your items on the page, including the PK
    eg P2_EMPNO (PK), P2_ENAME, P2_SAL,P2_DEPTNO
    2: create a page process "on load" that runs if the PK item is not null
    begin
    select ename,sal,deptno
    into :P2_ENAME,P2_SAL,P2_DEPNTO
    from emp
    where empno = :P2_EMPNO
    end;
    3: You now need to write a process that does an update
    after submit
    begin
    update emp
    set ename = :P2_ENAME,
    sal = P2_SAL,
    deptno = :P2_DEPTNO
    where empno = :P2_EMPNO;
    end
    You need to consider how to handle new rows, optimistic locking and a few other things.
    I would suggest that you have a look at the existing form wizard that does all this for you. We can then work around any "limitations" you find.

    Hi Arjun,
    There is no hiding or conditional hiding tab functionality in DeskI, which would serve the purpose of your need.
    One option could be to open up the child report in the same window rather a new window.
    Thanks for the reply

  • How to open reports in same portlet when clicked on item report links in menu portlet

    Hi,
    I am not sure what forum I should ask this question. Anyway, I am trying in the content areas forum.
    Let me explain what I trying to do.
    I have reports links as menu item links in a menu. I have published this menu to portal and added it to a page. I can now see the report links. If I now click on the report link, it opens the report in a whole window. How do I open the report in the same portlet or if this is not possible, how do I open this in a different portlet on the same page ?
    thanks for helping.
    Mainak

    Hi,
    This is part of JPDK. You will have to install it. Which version of portal are you using? You can also try this out using
    URL portlet which is available with webview in 309.

  • Db LInk in report, Reflected  to speed.

    Hi,
    I have created classical report and in report i used dblinks in three columns.When i used dblink in report It created worst speed of my report.
    It take too long time to run the report.
    I created edit link on my report using code. procedure "Inv_in_apps" uses dblinks in code. How i can create edit links so that speed should not be reflected.The code below defined i used to create edit links.
    select
    Am.Invoice_no as invoice_no,
    Case when Inv_in_apps(Am.Invoice_no) = 'N' then
    '<a href="f?p=&APP_ID.:5:&SESSION.:MODIFY:&DEBUG.:5:P5_SBU_CODE,P5_INVOICE_NO:
    '||am.SBU_CODE||','||am.INVOICE_NO||':"><img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#edit.gif" alt="Edit"></a>'
    when Inv_in_apps(Am.Invoice_no) = 'Y' then
    '<img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#edit.gif" alt="Invoice Transfered">'
    END AS the_Edit,
    Case when Inv_in_apps(Am.Invoice_no) = 'Y' THEN
    '<font color ="Gray"></b>Revenue</b></font>'
    ELSE
    '<a href="f?p=&APP_ID.:41:&SESSION.:MODIFY:&DEBUG.:41:P41_sbu_code,P41_Invoice_no:'
    ||am.SBU_CODE||','||am.INVOICE_NO||':">
    <font color =GRAY><b>Revenue</b></font></a>'
    END AS Revenue
    from "AR_INVOICE_MAS" amThanks & Regards

    I'd agree whole-heartedly with Ben here - running queries over dblinks can be a bit of a minefield TBH and best avoided if at all possible.
    One thing: If the data you are querying is relatively static (changes infrequently) or is updated on regular schedule (e.g. once per day, hour etc.) and is generally read-only in nature, it might be worth exploring the use of Materialized views which allows you to replicate a data-set locally, thus effectively eliminating the need to query across databases - their use in this context is beyond the scope of the APEX forum, however.

  • Link in report with SSP enabled

    Hey everyone, I have a question here involving programatically generated links in reports from the sql query behind them. How do I make a link to the page (from the report's sql query) that will allow me to change the value of a hidden and protected item (P16_PERSON_CONTACT_ID) without having APEX Session State Protection get angry at me and still protect me from having the user muck with the URL?

    David,
    Well bind variables are more performant and safer to use in queries. It shouldn't really be a debate on when to use them, you always use them when you can. Here's a quick break down (not a complete list, and should probably be expanded, but should get you going)...
    Use bind variable syntax when you're referencing an item:
    1. In a report query
    2. In PL/SQL code that is stored in the application (as a page level process for example)
    Use substitution variable syntax when you're referencing an item:
    1. Outside of SQL and PL/SQL but still need the value - this is not always an option (in the HTML Header region of a page or title of a region for example)
    Use V and NV functions when you're referencing an item:
    1. In PL/SQL code stored outside the application (in a package for example)

  • Link in Report does not work when run on Citrix

    Hello,
    we use Crystal Reports (v11) for creating Reports.
    Data is based on our CRM system "SuperOffice".
    We have several reports and what we did is to add a column that includes a link to SuperOffice.
    For example - if I have a list of contacts as a report, then every line has a link to SuperOffice.
    If I click this link, the contact in SuperOffice gets open.
    This works on lokal pc installations.
    But is doesn't work on a citrix server.
    If I click the link - nothing happens.
    Is that a known problem or does anyone have any ideas for that?
    Are there any known problems with links in reports on citrix servers?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Tony

    Hi Don,
    thank you for fast response.
    That is a good advice. We will check that.
    The main question is, to which folders etc. does CR needs access?
    To explain the situation better: To run the reports we use Crystal Reports Runtime (Version 11.1.1883).
    Do you (or anyone else in these forum) know where we could get information about which kinds of access CR Runtime needs to handle with these links?

  • SQL report link to another report

    Hello,
    I am using Apex 4 and trying to link an sql report with another report. If I were able to use an interactive report I could easily link that to another page, but that would require me to have a primary key. The problem is that I need to link a few tables. So two questions:
    1.) Can I link these via an HTML link to my other page? I would have a HTML link in my report that would link via URL parameter passing. So can I use HTML in a report?
    2.) What is the syntax for a parameter passing via URL? Here is my link that would be:
    a href= f?p=107:40:&APP_SESSION::::P40_NAME:MARK: Are there any other ways to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    I am using Apex 4 and trying to link an sql report with another report. If I were able to use an interactive report I could easily link that to another page
    It's easy in standard reports< /a>. (Ignore the "Interactive Report" typo in step 1.)
    1.) Can I link these via an HTML link to my other page? I would have a HTML link in my report that would link via URL parameter passing. So can I use HTML in a report?You can, but it's better practice to keep data retrieval and HTML structure separate when possible&mdash;in this case by using declarative Column Links.
    2.) What is the syntax for a parameter passing via URL?This is also covered in the documentation.
    Here is my link that would be: a href= f?p=107:40:&APP_SESSION::::P40_NAME:MARK:
    {quote}
    That looks to have the order of the parameters correct, but it's missing some syntax:<a href="f?p=107:40:&APP_SESSION.::::P40_NAME:MARK">...</a>
    The static text exact substitution method of referencing the value of an APEX item requires a terminating dot ("."): <tt>&APP_SESSION.</tt>

  • Open SSRS report link in browser

    Hi,
    I have developed 3 SSRS report. these report contains quality and production updates. These report will be using as visual display dashboard in production area and will be view/flash in LCD  monitor.
    My requirements is how can i open the SSRS link using an script and put a time to perform the next SSRS link.  Or it possible to use  IE9 as browser and open the SSRS link. any idea guys is very much appreciated. thank
    you.
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
    Just as BI_group and Vishal said, there are two methods to open another report from one report in Reporting Services. We can enable an action with “Go to report” or “Go to URL” option to achieve the requirement. For more details, please see:
    Method1: Go to report
    Right-click a report item to open the properties dialog in main report, click Action in the left pane.
    Enable Go to report action, then select the main report name in the drop-down list.
    If we want to pass some parameters from main report to subreport, we can Add a parameter as below:
    Select ID (a parameter name from subreport) in the drop-down list of Name, and select [ID] (a field name from main report) in the drop-down list of Value.
    Method2: Go to URL
    Right-click a report item to open the properties dialog in main report, click Action in the left pane.
    Enable Go to URL action, the URL below is for your reference:
    ="javascript:void(window.open('http://server_name/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2ffolder_name%2fsubreport_name&rs:Command=Render&parameter_name="&Fields!field_name.Value &"'))"
    For more information about Drillthrough, Drilldown, Subreports, and Nested Data Regions (Report Builder and SSRS), please refer to the following document:

  • "edit" link from report to form does not show values

    I created a report and an attached form on two different pages. The report is a query combining two tables with outer joins. When I click on the "edit" button on the report, I get forwarded to the form page.
    My problem: When I get forwarded to the forms page, I get an empty form, and not the data from the column as expected. The "edit" button behaves more like the "create" button. Anybody an idea what I could change to be able to edit the column data?
    Thank you.

    I've met the similar problem with previous releases (1.5.0 and 1.5.1) without any objective reason.
    As I suggests, sometimes HTMLDB lost current session state. When this occurs, ALL links from reports to it's forms does not transit primary keys. I've just completed application development and I've met this behaviour every months.
    As a workaround I found folowwjing process:
    Come into administration tab, selet "Report with option to purge current session state". When I purge current session state and re-login to application, all report-form links will start to work.
    I don't know, what is the issue, but I met it so soon on my local HTMLDB environment.

  • Report Link + Authorization Scheme

    I have an authorization scheme that checks whether a certain person has privileges to edit a record on Page 2 by referring to the :P2_ID in the authorization scheme. Page 1 has a report with a report link, but the user can see both items they are able to edit and items they are not. I know I can make the link dynamically in the sql but wanted to see if there was an easy way to use an authorization scheme, but pass the #REPORT_COL# value in the report over to an authorization scheme to show or hide the icon for me so I can get the link out of the sql.

    Great example Scott! However, I'd would caution the other Sc0tt that calling functions in a SQL statement is fine for a small number of rows, but can CRUSH performance for medium to large result sets. Even if the function is fast, you're still context-switching between SQL and PL/SQL for every row. Make sure you test this with the volume of data you expect your users to encounter. If it's a problem, you might force the user to apply some filters before running the query.
    If you're running 11g you can at least minimize the hit of the function with "Function Result Cache". Even if you're not on 11g yet, you can use the following code in 10g and it will switch-on result cache when you compile it in 11g:
    create or replace function auth_user(p_key in number)
         return varchar2
         $IF not dbms_db_version.ver_le_10_2 $THEN
              result_cache
         $END
    as
    begin
        pkg.g_value := p_key;
        if apex_application.public_security_check (p_security_scheme => 'AUTH_USER_COLUMN') then
            return '1';
        else
            return '0';
        end if;
    end;
    / If it is a reasonable result set, Scott's solution is perfect.
    Thanks,
    Tyler
