  • Problem: 1 physical table -- multiple logical table sources

    Hi,
    I'm quite new to BIEE and setting up my repository.
    So I have a question, if the following scenario is possible:
    Physical Layer: TABLE_A: COL_A, COL_B, COL_C
    TABLE_B: COL_D, COL_E, COL_F
    Join TABLE_A.COL_A = TABLE_B.COL_D
    In Business Model I have a Dimension Table with TABLE_A as datasource with fields DIM1 (COL_B).
    The Fact Table (MEASURE) would have twice TABLE_B as data source with different where-clauses on COL_F and logical table columns (ATT1 and ATT2) of value COL_E.
    So far I have created everything and the consistency check shows no errors or warnings, but I get an error in Answer: Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table MEASURE) does not contain mapping for [MEASURE.ATT1, MEASURE.ATT2], when I creating an report showing DIM1, ATT1, ATT2.
    Isn't it possible to have one physical column used as multiple data source?
    I know it 's working, when I create the physical table twice ... but maybe there's a solution for business model.
    Thanks
    chrissy

    Hi mengesh,
    that's what I also tried, but it's always returning me the same error.
    I know it would work, when I import the physical table twice or more, but that's not what I want to do, because at the end I have 10 or more fields based on this one physical table. There's one field indicating what value is contained in the record, this means:
    COL_F | COL_E
    1 | customer name
    2 | customer number
    3 | customer branche
    4 | salesman
    5 | date
    6 | report number
    etc.
    I don't think it's usefull to import the physical table as often as I need this field. So I want to divide it in business model.
    thanks

  • Multiple Data Sources In One Logical Table

    I am new to OBIEE and I have came accross an issue. I appologize if this information is in the forum somewhere but I have searched and cannot find it.
    My situation is that I would like to have one logical table that contains multiple data sources which have all the same columns. I already have session variables setup to differentiate the user's security through a row-wise variable for a specific column and a session variable for another column which determines the user's association to the data source in which they belong to. This security works well when the data sources are seperated in the Business Model and Mapping portion but the issue that arises is that the user's cannot share reports when the data sources are seperated in the BM&M.
    I have dragged and dropped a table from the Physical model to the BM&M, I then dragged the second data source (with same meta data structure) over to the "Sources" folder in the first data source table in the BM&M. On the Content tab or each data source table I have defined the WHERE clause as such, where VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."SCHOOL") session variable is my row-wise column filter and the VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."GROUP") filter is my data source determinative:
    sandbox."".SANDBOX.OBIEE_CROSS_ENROLLMENTS.HOME_SCHOOL = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."SCHOOL") AND sandbox."".SANDBOX.OBIEE_CROSS_ENROLLMENTS.DATA_SOURCE = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."GROUP")
    Unfortunatley this only returns values in the BI Answers for the first drag and drop Pysical table in the BM&M layer and not the second Physical table drug into the "Sources" folder. I have also tried to create a new logical table and drag both tables into the "Sources" folder to no avail. I have experimented with the Fragmentation content on the "Content" tab of the seperate logical tables, checking the "This source should be combined with other sources at this level", which gives me an error in BI Answers that a column does not exist which really does.
    What could I be missing? Advanced thanks to those who reply.
    Thank you,
    Kyle

    Stijn,
    Thank you for the article link. That was very helpful! It seems that I had a few things off as you do need the "This source should be combined with other sources at this level." checked. In my two table source columns for DATA_SOURCE I defined a literal ('086496' and '085597' for the other) in the Column Mapping tab. I pasted the following in the Fragmentation content, checking the "This source..." box on the Content tab:
    eSIS.SANDBOX4_SCHOOLS.DATA_SOURCE = '086496'
    And pasted the following into the WHERE clause, checking "Select distinct values" on the Content tab:
    sandbox4."".OBIEE.NWOCA_SCHOOLS.SCHOOL_CODE = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."SCHOOL") AND sandbox4."".OBIEE.NWOCA_SCHOOLS.DATA_SOURCE = VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."GROUP")
    This took care of my user's security, utilizing the session variables in the WHERE clause. I am now able to generate reports that only one user can access from one data source and share that same report with another user who can only see data from the other data source.
    Many thanks!!!

  • Confused about logical table source

    Hi,
    I'm confused about logical table source(LTS), there are 'General', 'Column Mapping', 'Content' tabs in
    LTS, in General tab ,there are some information,like 'Map to there tables' and 'joins',
    just here, we have created relationships in physical layer and BMM layer, so I would like to ask what's the use of the 'joins' here?

    Hi Alpha,
    Valid query, when you establish a complex join it is always between a logical fact and dimension table.Consider a scenario,
    Example:w_person_dx is an extension table not directly joined to a fact but joins to a dimension w_person_d.
    When you model the person_d tables in BMM, you ll have a single logical table with w_person_d as source.If you have to pull columns from both w_person_d and w_person_dx tables in a report, you add dx table as inner join to persond table in the general tab.Now when you check your physical query, you can see the inner join fired between the two dimensions.

  • Foreign Keys for a Logical Table

    Hi All,
    I want to know in which scenarios we create the Foreign Keys for a Logical Table. Once we create the foreign key for the logical table, does it mean that it will automatically override if any joins are there.
    Physical Table A, B ( no physical joins)
    Logical Table A, B (logical join B(Dim)-->A(Fact))
    created the foreign key in logical table A with B .(A.1=B.1)
    Will the rpd generate sql with A.1=B.1 join condition for reports.
    I tried to create the logical foreign key for logical table A, I could not see any corresponding table option.Here is its snapshot
    http://tinypic.com/r/jq1gkz/6
    Thanks,
    Virat

    In general when we go complex joins in Physical layer we go for Logical foreign key joins in BMM layer, best examples is SCD Type-II.
    Physical Table A, B ( no physical joins)
    -->You need to have a physical join so that this can be override by BMM layer
    created the foreign key in logical table A with B .(A.1=B.1) Will the rpd generate sql with A.1=B.1 join condition for reports.
    -->Yes you can see this join in BI Physical query.
    I tried to create the logical foreign key for logical table A, I could not see any corresponding table option.Here is its snapshot
    -->2 cases: 1)You need to delete existing logical joins 2) You might not have join in physical layer.
    Hope this helps

  • Financial Analytics -- Multiple logical table sources

    we have two logical sources for Fact table. The two sources are Aggreates - one is at Invoice level and other one is at Supplier level. Each column in the fact is the derived column and is getting mapped to both the tables. My problem is when i use supplier name and invoice amount and other fact columns data , one of the fact column comes as Zero even though the back end query that BI server is firing is returning expected result. But some how when it comes on the report the data becomes zero. This doesnot happen when we specifically add a filter on the table at lower level of Aggregation (Invoice). This tells Bi server to fetch the data from table lower level of Aggregation .
    The RPD that we are using is OOTB.

    Scenario # 1: In BMM the two tables form a logical table called CUSTOMER with 2 different logical table sources which are CUSTOMER & ADDRESS.
    -->In this case; based on the columns select source is defined in the physical query
    possible case would be CUSTOMER , ADDRESS, and CUSTOMER & ADDRESS
    -->Used in DE-normalized scenarios
    --> BI uses intelligence based on content tab settings
    Scenario # 2: In BMM the two tables form a logical table called CUSTOMER with 1 logical table source called CUSTOMER only.
    -->In this case; CUSTOMER properties->General tab used both CUSTOMER & ADDRESS, in your physical query both tables present irrespective of column selection
    -->Used in normalized scenarios
    -->Forcing BI to follow our way, since we wont set content tab settings
    Hope this helps

  • Variable in where clause of the logical table

    Hi,
    is it possible to define a variable in "where" clause of rpd's physical table (table type - select)? If yes, pls elaborate the steps including how to refresh it with every end user's request?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Igor
    P.S.
    If not, is there any workaround?

    Nico
    thanks, but I am afraid that is not my case. I need to refresh variable value interactively with every query by a dashboard prompt. To illustrate my need just imagine a recursive SQL (defined as a view/logical table in rpd):
    SELECT ....
    FROM ...
    WHERE ...
    START WITH .... columnA=variable1
    CONNECT BY PRIOR .... and columnB=varariable2;
    or
    SELECT c1,c2,c3,c4 from tabA where c1='A' and c2=variable1
    union
    SELECT c1,c2,c3,c4 from tabA where c1='A" and c2='D' and c1 NOT IN ( SELECT c1 FROM tabA where c1='A' and c2=variable1 );
    So, what I want to do is to pass value(s) to my variable(s) every time when respective select (view) is executed. I see above selects are not typical ones the OBI EE is intended for but nevertheless I wonder if such kind of reports are possible to do in OBI EE.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Igor

  • 2 facts with different dimensions in 1 logical table

    hello,
    im trying to accomplish the set up as described per blog:
    http://108obiee.blogspot.com/2009/08/joining-two-fact-tables-with-different.html
    i.e. i have 2 facts, F1: D1 ; F2: D1,D2,D3;
    i followed the instructions and all seem to be working fine;
    however: when i put the total on the report in Answers: D1,D2, F1, F2 then the measures from F1 that are repeated every row for D2 are being added , like regular sum on the column; this is not correct;
    the only correct result i can get if manually i change the Aggregation Rule to :Server Complex Aggregate on all F1 measures;
    id like to ask if this is a bug of this OBI version? 10.1.3.2
    i wish not to instruct my users to change the aggregation rule; id like to have the set up via rpd such, that they dont have to manipulate the aggregation rules;
    did anyone got the above working with correct totals without changing the aggregation rule?
    if so, id appreciate any tips on how to achieve that
    thanks
    rgds

    Basically, you need to :
    * create your physical schema with the relationship
    * drag and drop your Forecast Facts measure in the same logical table than your sales fact
    * define your Forecast measure as level based measure (logical column/levels/properties) with the grain of the forecast table
    Documentation
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12103_01/books/admintool/admintool_BusModSetup12.html
    And you have an example in OBE series with quota in excel sheet :
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/bi_admin/biadmin.html#t8
    Success

  • [38133] The Logical Table [...] is not joined to any other logical table.

    Hi all!
    I'm very new to Oracle BI EE. My need is to create my first report in BI. I've opened Oracle BI Administration Tool, created new repository, added physical tables, created new item named "reports" in "Business Model and Mapping" section, made "drug-n-drop" my physical tables into new item. Now when I run "check consistency" on "reports" item it returns errors:
    Business Model reports:
    [38133] The Logical Table '"reports"."table1"' is not joined to any other logical table.
    [38133] The Logical Table '"reports"."table2"' is not joined to any other logical table.
    [38133] The Logical Table '"reports"."table3"' is not joined to any other logical table.Could you please help me with these errors?
    Oracle Business Intelligence 11.1.1.6.0

    Looks like you drag-n-drop each table, try to all at once with that all physical layer joins are come and treated as logical joins. Other wise try to create them manually.
    drag-n-drop always is not possible so we have to go for manually.
    If this is not in your case let me know else pls mark as correct/helpful

  • Cube Logical table source doesn't show all cube members

    hi,
    Please help me solve this issue.
    I have a logical dimension table whcih has a source from 10 different LTS each of them is a cube and have different number of members in it
    Cube 1 has 1 member say A.
    Cube 2 has 1 member say A.
    Cube 10 has 3 members say A,B,C.
    When I bring the column of the logical dimension table into Answers, I see the output from only Cube 1 i.e. A and does not bring in from the other cubes 10 which has members A, B,C.
    Same is vindicated from the MDX query.
    Is there a soln for this.
    Regards,
    Bhavik

    Alright Bhavik, the belwo soln works fine with Oracle DB and you can try this with Essbase source:
    You need to set Fragmentation Content here...
    1) Create a dummy logical column in the logical table and map this to all LTS with some static values for each say 'A', 'B' etc
    2) Now in Fragmentation Content for each LTS set that column filter with the value given in mapping like "LTS"."CATEGORY" = 'A'
    3) Check the checkbox for this source shud be combined with other sources.
    Now when you will run ur report based on this it will pick from all LTS. Currently, its only picking and pointing to ur first LTS. What we will do is to force BI server to have data from all sources.
    Hope this is useful

  • Aggregation Rule in a Dimension Logical Table

    Hi!
    I have a Dimension Logical Table which is related (one-to-many) with several Fact Logical Tables.
    This Dimension has 1 logical column which has an aggregation defined:
    - Account Last Creation Date = Max(D_CUSTOMER_ACCOUNT.CREATION_DATE)
    When I use Answers to build a report using this Logical Columns the following error appears:
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 14026] Unable to navigate requested expression: IWS Client - Last Account Creation Date:[DAggr(ACCOUNT.IWS Client - Last Account Creation Date by [ ACCOUNT.TLC Account Warehouse Key Account Table] SB CUSTOMER ACCOUNT)]. Please fix the metadata consistency warnings. (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT ACCOUNT."IWS Client - Last Account Creation Date" saw_0 FROM "VFPT - Upgrade Siebel"
    How can I workaround this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi!
    My understanding is that you have set an aggregation (in the aggregation tab) to a mapped field.
    Wildmight is right, you can't use aggregation is dimension tables. Which makes sense.
    Instead, you can try to create a new logical field with the name of your choice, checking the "use existing logical columns as the source" check box and put your formula in it. At the right of the text box, there's a little button [...] that can help you building a correct formula.
    I hope this helps.
    Ced.

  • A question about the multiple source table for the logical table

    Hi All,
    I am to test, having two physical sources for an logical table, but it is failing as it is always getting data from only one table rather than two tables.
    !http://picasaweb.google.com/KSivaUS/OracleForumQuestions#5433761212378087346!
    Any suggestion or inputs would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Siva

    your 2 measure columns are in the same unique - low level??
    your connections look good.
    which is the result if you bring only the sales column at your report??is it the sum of the 2 datasources??
    try to repass again all your bussiness model.or make an other one.
    fisrt pass your fact with 2 sources and then your dimensions....
    as i can see you have customer_dim,do both of your columns have the appropriate key to this dimension??try to make a physical connection from both fact sources to this dimension as well as for time...
    if you do it in this way ,there is no possibility not to work
    hope i helped...

  • Logical table source error

    I am having a union report.
    I have a strange problem. The report executes successfully normally but when I am ordering the columns as per the customer requirement its throwing an error "
    A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 15018] Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table Fact - tablename does not contain mapping for [case when Dim - Account. Number in (some values)]
    none of the report is using any column from the fact table so I don't think that join should exist between fact-dim in this case.
    Any other solution one can suggest?

    Try to redo the same report with requested order. that would be the simplest way to handle it unless you have hidden hills in your development.
