Report Not Refreshing in Crystal Reports Server 2008

I created a report and posted it on Crystal Reports Server 2008.  I have since updated the report's selection expert and I want the new criteria to be updated.  When I right click on the report and choose Refresh Options I have chosen to update and refresh the report but when I try to schedule it again it keeps the old select expert statement.  I have gone back to the report to ensure the change was taken and it was.  In fact if I delete the report and repost it then it does show the correct criteria.  Does anyone have any idea's as to why this is happening.  Thanks.

A simple solution to avoid the font issue: Draw a box on the report, and put an X in (on top of) the box to check it if value is true.
Or
A formula that is an X if true or F if false.  Format the font to be white if not an X, and put a box around it.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by tabbed reporting.  Do you mean having multiple reports open at once within the Crystal Reports Designer?
If this is the case, the viewer is designed to only have one report open at a time.

  • Drop down boxes ok in Crystal Reports but not ok in Crystal Reports Server

I have the following problem with "dynamic dropdowns"
Initially, I have a Crystal Report (.rpt).  It has two dynamic drop downs. They work
in both Crystal Reports Designer (preview)  and Crystal Reports Server (right-click-View).
The first drop down is the result of a rather complex sql query. The second drop down
is a child of the first.
I make a small change to the sql "WHERE" clause using the Crystal Reports Designer. It works fine in preview.
I save (Enterprise mode) to Crystal Server. I use Business View Manager to configure
the _DC_n object.  (I did notice that the .._DC_n gets incremented by one.)
The _DF object seems to know about the updated sql so I do not have change it.
However, when I go to back to Crystal Reports Server, and right-click-View, the
"dynamic dropdown" is not working properly.  I can not make sense
    of what has been retrieved.
Please tell me what is most likely to have gone wrong here?  The Business View Manager
seemed to knew about the sql change. But Crystal Reports Server has
not responded to the change in the same way as Crystal Reports Designer.
                       ...thank you, Stan

When you publish a report to Crystal Server, the dynamic prompts are no longer handled in the report itself.  Instead depending on how they're published, they either go away or they're published to the "repository" and managed through the "Business View Manager" (BVM), which is available as part of the Client Tools install.
To get the dynamic prompt into the repository, you have to check the "Enable Repository Refresh" checkbox at the bottom of the "Save As" screen after you log in to CRS.  However, doing it this way is NOT best practice, especially if you're using the query from the report to provide the data for the prompt.  If you do this for all of your reports, you get a LOT of bloat in the repository objects and it makes the job of migrating from one version of CRS to another MUCH more difficult!
What I've done in the past to get a simple "sample" prompt published is create a report that just contains the data that I want to have in the dynamic parameter using a single table - this is usually what I call a "lookup" table that has a "code" field and a "description" or "name" field.  I then create a dynamic parameter in that report that just pulls the data from the single table.  I'll publish the report to my favorites with the Repository Refresh enabled.
I then run the BVM and look for the following objects (default location is under "Cascading Dynamic Prompts":
<prompt name>_DC - This is the Data Connection for the prompt.  Edit this, enter the password, and set it to "Never Prompt" for the password.  NOTE:  This DC can be reused by multiple prompts.  If you continue to add prompts through publishing Crystal Reports with prompts, you will get MANY of  these that all point to the same database!
<prompt name>_DF - This is the Data Foundation for the prompts.  When you create a new one, you need to select an existing DC and then either one or more tables or write a command to provide the data for your prompt.  It works much like the Database Explorer in Crystal.  The one that was just saved has all of the information required for the prompt.
<prompt name>_BE - This is the Business Element.  When you create one, you have to select and existing DF and one or more fields.  You can also create a filter on the data.  This is used to generate the SQL that will be run to provide the data for the prompt.
<prompt name>_ BV - This is the Business View.  When you create one, you have to select the Business Element.  I'm not sure of the exact purpose of this, but you have to have one in order to set up the "List of Values".
<prompt name> - This is the List of Values (LOV).  This defines what fields are available for the prompt itself.
You can create folders to organize these objects so that its easier to maintain.
To use a LOV that you've defined in BVM to feed data to new dynamic prompts, do the following:
    1.  Connect to CRS from Crystal.
    2.  Create/Edit your prompt.
    3.  Set the prompt to be dynamic.
    4.  Under "Choose a Data Source", select "Existing" and select the LOV from the drop-down list.
    5.  Update the properties in the parameter.
When viewing or scheduling a report, the dynamic prompts will run through the Crystal Reports 2013 Report Application Server in CRS (it will be named differently if you're not on CRS 2013, but will have "Report Application Server" in the name.)

SSRS 2008 R2 Calendar Control not working and report not refreshing on pressing enter in Chrome.

SSRS reports are always best viewed in IE and the report result what you see in IE always will not be same and consistent in thirdy party browswers.
So consider using IE as workaround.

  • Could not start the Crystal Report Application Server service on local computer

    CA Forum: Deployment
    Hi
    I have a following problem.
I have installed Crystal report application server(RAS)(CE embeded 10) on Windows server 2003 enterprise x64 edition.
When i start it, i see an error:
Could not start the Crystal Report Application Server service on local computerError 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly
Sometimes, i can start it but it stops a few minutes later.
I have disabled DEP (data execution prevention).
    Log:
Faulting application crystalras.exe, version 10.0.0.533, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.
    Please help
    Thanks for your help

This error occurs after an initial install, when the Oracle suite is installed logged in as the user(who has admin rights on the machine). If this is the case,
1.Go to Services (Admin Tools > Services)
2.Double click the Oracle services( BI Server or Presentation or TNS Listener).
    3.Go to Log On tab
4.If local system account is checked , un-check that option. Check "This Account" option
5.Give the user information for that machine(e.g domain\username)
6.Specify password associated with the user ( the username/pwd that is used to login to the machine)
    7.Confirm pwd and click Apply.
    8.re-start the service.
This is what i did , and it worked.
good luck and hopefully oracle addresses these issues , they become frustrating to use the product.
    Thanks,
    Ram

  • Access DB (& .ldb file) does not close after crystal reports

    Post Author: mgold
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Access DB (& .ldb file) does not close after crystal reports
Hi! We have a VB application using Crystal Reports 6 that has worked successfully on hundreds of systems for over 10 years. Now, on one network, the application and access database does not close. It seems to hang on the &#91;.Close&#93; command.
When we open the application an peruse the screens without opening up a report (using crystal reports), the application and access db closes fine. But as soon as we run a report and then close the report and try to close the application, the access db does not close. Many of the screens open the db and grab data from the access db, but it's only after running crystal reports that we have this problem. (Please see more information below.)
Setup: Application and data (access 97 db) reside on a server in the same folder, but application shortcut is kicked off on client PC. Kicking off the shortcut on the client PC means that the image/process runs on the client PC (not on the server). In this problem case, the application shortcut is on a Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP2 PC with the app & data on a Windows 2003 server. Users are local Admins on their PCs with "Full Control"over the directory and files on the server where the data (access 97 db) resides. This type of setup is typical and has worked without any problems for clients.
The application is written in Visual Basic, using Crystal Reports 6 (using DAO). We close the recordset, set it to zero and then it hangs on closing the db (.Close command).
A few key pieces of information:
    - The application closes fine if the app & data (access 97 db) are on a local PC. This includes closing fine if the application is run directly on the Windows 2003 server where the data is stored.
    - It worked on this client's network until sometime in the last few weeks.
    - One thing that changed is that the company is using VMWare on its servers. Not sure if they started using VMWare at the same time as it started failing. This may be unrelated. Possibly other things changed, but can't get any more information ... yet.
    - It works fine running the application from a Windows Vista PC with a user who is a domain admin.
    - The access db and application hang for about 10-20 minutes and then eventually closes. It appears that somehow
Crystal Reports is keeping the db open, but I'm not sure why.The application doesn't quit and the database doesn't close even if I try to end the task with the Task Manager.
    - The Crystl32.ocx version being used is 8.0.0.4 (if that matters).
    - I copied 6 month old program files and database files to a test folder on the Windows 2003 server. It fails using these files that worked fine 6 months ago.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated! If you know of another good place to post this, please let me know.
    Thanks!
    - Mark

Crystal doesn't support tables in HTML interpretation.
You can probably work your way around this by doing Replace() calls on the relevant tags.

  • Reporting with Report Builder 3.0 and SQL Server 2008 R2

    Hi everyone
I'm trying really hard to find books about Report Builder 3.0 or SQL Server 2008 R2
I found the following books on the "learn" site, sadly they do not cover Report Builder 3.0 or SQL Server 2008 R2 since there all too old.
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Analysis Services Step by Step
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 MDX Step by Step
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Reporting Services Step by Step
What are good books (like the ones above) for the newest system?

    Hello wishmasterIN,
Thank you to post your question on TechNet forum.
Based on my experience, the books are always delayed to the new technology, since the author need time to summarize and analyze the new features in the new product or technology, write it down and publish it. If you want to have a quick learning about the
new technology, MSDN library is a good place. It can be a cookbook for you. It contains some detail steps for tools, such as Report Builder or BIDS. It also contains many new features introduction. It is always very useful for you to understand the new features.
In addition, it is based on web and many links make you can jump to the other technical point freely. The most important is all of these is free and all the information will be updated if the new feature is released.
In short, if you want to learn the latest technology about Microsoft product, MSDN is a good choice. I hope my introduction is helpful to you.

My client is using SAP 2007 SP00 PL49, SAP Crystal Report Add on is 2.0.0.7 and they have Beas 6.70.07
They have encountered problem "The request cannot be submitted for background processing" after printing about 8 times of the same reports consecutively.  It is a work order reports which my clients prints for one operations at a time, with each operations generated 8 pages of output.  There are 5 jpeg on the report, which is not huge.
Yes, I am aware there could be any problem related to that.
What I notice is, on the workstation with SAP Business One client running, whenever user print a report named "Work Order", in the temp folder it creates one .rpt and 26 tmp files (Note that I have made up the number)
    Work Order {C0ECP901-C6F6.......}.rpt
    ~cpe{51DD9109........}.tmp
    ~cpe{71DD9109........}.tmp
    ~cpe{52DD9109........}.tmp
    ~cpe{53DD9109........}.tmp
    ~cpe{54DD9109........}.tmp
At the moment, for a temporary solutions, everytimes when the error comes up, my client have to log off from SAP Business One, clear the temp folder and then relogin before they can print the same report.
Anyone encounter the problem and manage to resolve. it.

    In case anyone is interested.
I managed to drill down and get around with the following solutions.  Still in progress of monitoring, but seems to solve part of the problem.
    1. Open up the JPEG in Accessories--> Paint and notice that the JPEG is too big and cannot be seen without adjustting the scrolling bar.  Reduce the image size seems to work.
    2. The report is using dynamic graphic and reading JPEG path from a UDT with column 'type' and 'path'.  Subreport is used with record selection Type='Precheck'. When there was no Precheck type JPEG, it seems to crash.  We have asked client to add in type='precheck' and hyphen in path when it is not applicable.  In that sense, it will return something to the report.
    3. We also have subreport that read material issues.  when there was no material issue in the subreport, it crash.  So, we do the following:
    - section express - tick suppress blank section
    - right click subreport, tick suppress blank subreport.
    - in Subreport, at report option, we select suppress printing when no records.
Note that workaround in point 3 does not seem to work for pictures.  So, it might be worth suppressing with formulas.

Your early help will be highly appreciated.
    thanks and regards
    Hassan

You said, "...+I would like to install Release 2(11.1.1.2.0)+ ...". Be careful. 11.1.1.2.0 is not Release 2. The version for Rel 2 is 11.1.2.0, notice that there is one less "1". Also, there is no way to patch from Release 1 to Release 2.
In EDelivery, this is what you should find if you search on "Oracle Fusion Middleware" for "Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)":
First look for this link then drill into it:
Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Media Pack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
In this section you will find the following:
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 2 (Forms & Reports)
    Oracle Forms and Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) V28761-01
This is the full product installation of FMw 11 Release 1 (includes Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 1 of 4) V18785-01
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 2 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 3 of 4)
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g (11.1.1.2.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) (Part 4 of 4)
This is the FMw 11 Release 1 patch set that will bring the above 11.1.1.2.0 installation to 11.1.1.6.  This is NOT a full product installation - just a patch
Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g Patch Set 5 (11.1.1.6.0) for Microsoft Windows x86 (64-bit) V29850-01
There are no patch sets for Release 2 as of yet.

  • BEx hierarchies not displayed in Crystal report parameters

    Hi All,
I am trying to using a Bex query that has a cost center hierarchy with a variable that allows users to select specific nodes or even cost centers. In BEx reports, this query works fine and gives the users the view of the cost centres in a hierarchial manner. However, in Crystal reports, the query provides a drop down menu displaying a simple list of all the cost centres (not in a hierarchial manner). This confuses the user as to which element is a node and which is a cost centre
Kindly suggest how can we achieve the cost centre hierarchy to appear in the parameters in Crystal.
    Thanks

    Hi,
this is a duplicate to this entry:
key figures are not displayed in crystal report
Please do not post the same problem multiple times

  • Crystal Reports 7 ASP to Crystal Reports 2008

    Hello,
Many many years ago my company wrote applications using ASP VB6, reporting was done using Crystal Reports version 7 and we used the Crystal.CRPE.Application object to generate and display crystal reports in our web applications.
Some of our customers are looking at purchasing the new version of Crystal Reports 2008, my question is, can we still use the current API? Does Crystal Reports 2008 only support .NET applications? We would like to do this without a complete re-write of reporting for these legacy applications, and after searching the net and trying out the trial versions of 2008, I cant seem to get anywhere!!
If anyone could shed some light on this it would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    Andy Rayner

    Hello Andy,
Direct CRPE API calls were retired long ago (with the release of v9 or v10). The Report Designer Component (RDC) was the last Crystal COM based development component that would work with VB6 and classic ASP.  The RDC was retired with the release of CR2008.
The suggested migration path from classic ASP and VB6 is to move to the ReportDocument .NET object model.  There is also the Crystal Reports for Java (CRJ) component.
There is quite a bit of information on the SAP website that will help you get started with Crystal Reports and Visual Studios .NET.  Here are the links:
    The [SAP SDN Network|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn]
The [Business Objects page on the SDN Network|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects]
The [SDK Developer Library|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/sdklibrary] - Under .NET SDK look for the "Crystal Reports .NET SDK" Developer Guide link and API Reference link.
[Code Samples|https://boc.sdn.sap.com/codesamples] - Look for the "Crystal Reports .NET SDK" link under .NET SDK's column.
    [Additional Code Samples|http://www.businessobjects.com/global/doc/dev_zone/NET_SApps_q405.zip]
If you have specific questions about migrating to .NET please start a new thread for each question. If you need further clarification on the retirement information please reply to this thread.

  • Migrate Crystal Reports version 9 to Crystal Reports version 12

I have gone through some of the threads in this forum related to migration of Crystal reports from a previous version to CR 12.
Though it has helped me to a certain extent, the problem still isnt solved.
First, I have not worked with Crystal Reports earlier; this is my first attempt.
Second, I have an application which uses CR version 9 to convert to pdf.
The application is written in VS 2003. The application is hosted under Windows Server 2008 R2; Crystal Reports 12 runtime installed on the Server.
I have downloaded the VSIM for VS 2003. The reference dlls seem to have been upgraded to CR 12. However, when I run the application in the Server, I get the famous
"Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.
Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required.  Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information."
    error.
Oh, Just for the Info - this application works perfectly fine in my development environment under the Windows XP OS.
Would somebody out there please help me in resolving this issue?
I have spent a lot of time on this issue, doing research on my own and failing miserably.

Download [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] and compare what dlls are loading on the server as opposed to your dev computer. Then adjust as needed.

  • Upgrade from crystal report 8.5 to crystal report 2011

    Hi All,
Currently we are using crystal report 8.5 (PEAPI and dictionary files) (with VB6) to generate historical data for our product. Reports can have millions of records. We are using 2-tier architecture ( our client resides on windows machine and database
    - Oracle10g dedicated server- resides on linux server).
We are planning to upgrade it to CR2011(with .NET)
    My understanding is :
Crystal report designed in SAP Crystal Report 2011/SAP Crystal Reports(version for Visual Studio 2010)/.NET SDK for CR2011 and developed in VS2010 will use Crystal Reports(version for Visual Studio 2010) runtime.  Please comment.
Is there  any way to use PE APIs in Crystal report 2011 ? If not which is the best way to upgrade  ?
    Please comment.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

    Hello,
Not sure which viewer you are using, should be CR.Windows.Form and in code using RAS ( Report Application Server ) you'll get these options which are now controllable by you to allow all or just some:
private void ViewReport_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        rptClientDoc = rpt.ReportClientDocument;
        //crystalReportViewer1.ShowProgressAnimation(false);
        crystalReportViewer1.ShowGroupTreeButton = false;
        crystalReportViewer1.EnableDrillDown = false;
        //rpt.Refresh();
        crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rpt;
// next line causes a delay due to the engine having to go to the last page.
        //rpt.FormatEngine.GetLastPageNumber(new ReportPageRequestContext());
// set up the format export types:
    int myFOpts = (int)(
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.RptFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.PdfFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.RptrFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.XLSXFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.CsvFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.EditableRtfFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.ExcelRecordFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.RtfFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.WordFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.XmlFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.ExcelFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.ExcelRecordFormat);
//CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.NoFormat); // show no export types
        //int myFOpts = (int)(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.AllFormats);
    crystalReportViewer1.AllowedExportFormats = myFOpts;
Only change is the Excel Export formats have changed, and no option to use the old Excel types available in CR 8.5. Search Kbase for Exporting to Excel, there is a great article on how to optimize your reports for best output.

The stack trace is caused by whitespace in your CrystalReportViewer.jsp file.  Look up SAP Note 1199025 for the resolution.
It's not related to the PDF formatting issue.  There's been changes to the formatting with the most recent version - Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0 - so if you haven't already, I recommend you upgrade.
Note that there's differences in font metric calculation when using Adobe PDF format such that there's no way to get exact agreement between output of the CR and PDF.  But the latest version helps greatly.

  • POP LOV in classic Report not in a interactive Report

My oracle version Oracle Express Aplication 11g
    Dear Forum
We need a CLASSIC report where i can define what information my report will show.
    For example:
    My Report contain
    ID NAME DATE
In Drag and Drop layout I create two data pickers cause I need to choose information between Date_picker_1 and Datepicker_2. both of them correspond to DATE
In my region source in classic report I write something like this:
Select id, name where DATE between :Date_picker_1 and :Datepicker_2 then Ichoose the months but nothing happen.
I know that in the report interactive you can do that, but my boss doesnt' like interactive report (I dont know why) so my problem is in the Classic report.

Also the subject of this thread&mdash;POP LOV in classic Report not in a interactive Report&mdash;doesn't appear to be relevant the question asked. There's no mention of a Pop-up LOV here?
My oracle version Oracle Express Aplication 11gAlways state full version numbers, and include
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    as well.
Select id, name where DATE between :Date_picker_1 and :Datepicker_2then Ichoose the months but nothing happen.Always post code wrapped in <tt>\...\</tt> tags. And always post the actual code or a realistic reduced test case: that query is not valid SQL.
I know that in the report interactive you can do that, but my boss doesnt' like interactive report (I dont know why) so my problem is in the Classic report.Nothing to do with the report type. It's because all APEX items are actually VARCHAR2s. For proper comparison semantics with NUMBERs or DATEs in SQL explicit conversion is required:
    select id, name
    from foo
where bar between to_date(:date_picker_1, 'DD/MM/YYYY') and to_date(:date_picker_1, 'DD/MM/YYYY')Where 'DD/MM/YYYY' is the format mask used in the datepicker items.
