Report out put to Excel file

Hi,
Please help me in this requirement.
Is there any option to get the out put of report 6i out put to excel format file.

Its not possible to export data directly from 6i to excel but you can export in text file and then open it in excel it will open very easily but keep it in you mind first eliminate all report groups.
and
There is a trick to capture Oracle Reports output (text output) into a excel sheet.
Basic Steps :
1) Set the output format for the report to XML
2) Run the report to generate output.
3) Save the output file locally as a XML file.
4) Open the file using MS Excel.
5) To make it more beautiful, you may use a MS Excel Template

In 3.0, Could WEBI reports directly based on EXCEL file be refreshed, after exporting to BOE platform?
I've made a test on that and find out WEBI report could not be freshed in Infoview while DESKI report could.
Some colleague suggest me to build the WEBI report based on a Universe created based on the EXCEL file.
I want to confirm, is it a by-design that we could only refresh WEBI report based on universe? or I could do some setting to made the refreshment of WEBI based directly on EXCEL file works?

You could try the Rich Client Product Guide [http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir3/en/xi3_web_intelligence_rich_client_en.pdf] but I don't think it is a problem...more like a feature by design - it makes sense.
You could try the route of creating a universe on top of excel... See posts

Priniting out put to pdf file

Hi All,
I am using oracle reports 6i under sun Solaris environment. I may finally deploy these reports on web. Is it possible to send the out put to pdf when ever user select from my web deployed form, I mean when ever user select reports from the web is it possible to send the out put to pdf file it should open on client browser. Please help me. I appreciate any ones help.

I think, well, I am sure that DESTYPE=cache also works, as long as your web server outputs proper mime header for pdf files. Here is an example (sensitive information replaced with # character):

Getting info out of an excel file like a database

Hi,
The problem i have is that i have to get info out of an excel file like a database. So i have to be able to perform a kind of query, but to an excel file. Is this possible?
lay-out excel file:
number | request | chemical composition
| | C | Mn | Si | ....
125654 | |0.20%|0.10%|0.05%|.....
i should have to be able to search on the number and read the differend % (C, Mn, Si). This % are used in a formula to calculate a value that is used for DAQ
I can do this action with an acces DB, but not with excel. The problem is that they used excel for some years now (where i work) and changing the excel file to a DB would be a very long w

exception occured.
[Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver] The microsoft jet database engine could not find the object 'Sheet1'. Make sure the object exists...
So he doesn't seem to recognize a datasheet as a table (if i may compare it like this) when i choose the microsoft Excel driver with the workbook as described in your answer.
Any ideas?

Report Out Put

Hi All
I want the out put of a report in DOC file so that user can make changes in that report and then can print. this one is the requirement. but using a reports 9i the out put can be in PDF and HTML file. is this one possible that i can get the out put in DOC file. if yes can any one give me a hint how i can implement.

thanks its working. but when i am trying to open RTF file every time it appear a dialog box where i have to mention the target that i want to open in MS WORD or note pad. etc. may be because when i am using the command

there is no extension. so it ask me every time. so how i have to fix this that if mention my Report Destination Format to RTF is should be opened in MS Word.

Background job runs in application server , and your local /network drive is basically presentation server. So you cant save it in local /network drive from the job itself. But to download files, you can write the files to the application server using DATASET, in the background and then use the transaction CG3Y in the foreground to download the file.

Csv report out put problem

am trying to generate delimited format report on command prompt.
out put is to huge and it gives error . To over come this when I turned page break to yes the report will be generated successfully but the out put number of rows are being doubled.
suppose initially I am getting 100 rows , With page break set to yes the out put in
report csv format will be 200

its comming column header in each page. Client dont want header column in excel from second page. is this possible?

A document stored in the database can be easily retrieved in or via the browser using mod_plsql. Simplified:
