Report Script is Failing while Zooming in 55K+ member dimension

Hi,
we have a ASO cube and there is one dimension called PART NUMBER...which is having nearly 56,000 members...we wrote a report script to zoom in all the members under PART NUMBER along with other dimensions..
the problem we are facing is when we execute the script by removing the line
<DIMBOTTOM "Part Number"; the report script is executing fine and the final result includes 5200 rows, but when we try to execute the report script with <DIMBOTTOM "Part Number" , its getting failed.
any idea why its happening? is any limit on the number of records which the report script can pull? or is it related to any memory issues? do we need to change any configuration file settings???
Any help is much appreciated...
Thanks,
Sunil

Thanks Doug for your valuable input.
i tried with the options 2 and 3, but no joy :-(
i am not very good in option 1, so can you pls help me to show how to do that? below is my script.

  • CrystalReport - Getting "The Report Application Server failed" while export

    Hi Experts,
I am using Crystal Reports 2008 in my ASP.NET application to generate reports. Everythings works fine in the development environment. When I deploy it on my Windows Server 2003 system, I get an error "The Report Application Server failed" while exporting the report from the report control. But, the report assuch is working fine even in the production environement. I experience this issue only while exporting to excel or anyother format.
Do I need to configure anything or any settings needs to be turned on in the .rpt files!!
Appreciate any help to get this issue resolved.
    TIA,
    Prem

First a confirmation. When you say; "...exporting the report from the report control...", you mean the printer button on the viewer?
    Questions;
    What version of .NET?
What Crystal Reports Service Pack are you on?
How was the CR runtime installed on the server?\
Can you print the report OK?
    Are you using sessions?

  • Report script execution is getting failed

    Hi ,
We are facing one strange issue while executing the Essbase report script. I am new to the report script and I am not getting how to resolve the issue.
When we are changing the year in code from FY13 to FY14 the script is getting failed however the same script is successfully generating the report if we keep year as FY13 in code.
Could you please let me know where would be the problem , below is the part of the code form Report script.
    {MISSINGTEXT "0"}  // replace #Missing with 0
    <Link ((<LEV("Customer", "Lev0,Customer")) AND ( <IDESC("All Customers")))
    <Link ((<LEV("Product", "Lev0,Product")) AND ( <IDESC("All Products")))
    <Link ((<LEV("Period", "Lev0,Period")) AND ( <IDESC("YearTotal")))
    FY14

    Hi ,
I am getting below error message.
"Report Script execution Failed. Please see message panel for details " and in message panel It is not showing any details , just displaying Execute Report script Failed with date and time details.
I also checked that FY14 do exist in the application and no duplicate FY14 member exist in the outline.
Could you please suggest where would be the problem.

  • How to maximize report script performance

I have a report script that takes a while to run. Basically the script is zooming into 3 sparse dimensions and 1 dense dimension. <BR><BR><BR>The dense dimension has 732 stored members.<BR><BR>The sparse dimensions have 92, 280 and 576 members respectively. <BR><BR>when I did the zoom bottom in excel, it only took me about 4 minutes total to zoom in through the whole thing. <BR><BR>But when I did it in the report script, it ran for about half an hour and then I had to killed it. <BR><BR>I tried to change the order of the rows in the report script to match the zoom order in my excel retrieval, but that didn't help. <BR><BR>i remember from the bootcamp that the report script zoom in order should follow the hourglass or something. i can't remember exactly which dimension should go first though, was it the biggest dense and then the smallest sparse and then the biggest sparse dimensions? <BR><BR>here is how the script looks like:<BR><BR>{Rowrepeat}<BR>{SUPFEED}<BR>{Pagelength 10000}<BR>{Supemptyrows}<BR>{Supzerorows}<BR>{supcolheading}<BR><BR><ROW ("REV AND COST CENTERS", ENTITY, ACCOUNTS, ALLOCATION)<BR><BR><LINK (<descendants ("local currency entities") or <descendants (historical) <BR>or <children(celerops) OR <CHILDREN (CRAOPS) OR <DESC (ONLINEOPS) OR <DESC (PARACELOPS) OR <DESC (DSCIEOPS) OR <DESC (DSERVOPS) OR <DESC (EXCAPOPS) or <CHILDREN (GENERAL) OR AND <DIMBOT (ENTITY))<BR><BR><LINK (<descendants (statistical) or <descendants ("net income") or <DESCendants ("pre-assessment expenses") AND <LEV(Accounts,0))<BR><BR><LINK (<DESC("SGA") OR <DESC ("R&D AND ENG.") OR <DESC ("OTHER CC") AND <LEV ("REV AND COST CENTERS",0))<BR><LINK (<descendants ("direct") or <descendants ("indirect") or <descendants ("manual indirect") <BR>or <children ("allocation") and <lev(allocation,0))<BR><BR>!<BR><BR>any suggestions would be appreciated. <BR><BR>thx.

<p>For improving the retreival performance put the most densedimension on top followed by least dense dimension members, followedby most queried sparse dimension members followed by least sparsedimension members.....For improving calcualtion performance theorderof sparse dimension members changes while that of densedimension members remain same.</p><p> </p><p>Other thing which you can do is to increase the size ofretreival buffer.</p>

  • Report Script related question

    Hi Experts,
I have written a report script in which I am using the {TABDELIMIT} formatting command, to get the output file as tab delimited. I am facing an issue when I use the <REPMBRALIAS command in my script because the output of this command is Member name followed by a space and then alias. This makes my file inconsistent in terms of the delimeter.
Is there any command in report script using which I can get the member name followed description seperated by a tab? My requirement is to take an extract of all level 0 accounts along with their descriptions for all cost centres in a delimited format so that I could further load it into FDM.
    Thanks & Regards!

Thanks a loads for the replies everyone! The accounts have been poorly designed or no one would have thought that existing Essbase system would be replaced by HFM one fine day. Earlier data movement of Budget/Forecast data was from cube to cube, so that's usual stuff.
But now with Hyperion Planning to HFM integration, there is a requirement of drilling back to source file as its really difficult for the users to see accounts codes and understand the numbers.
The account codes are inconsistent too, combination of codes, strings with spaces and what not. It's time to create a new report writer command!
    Thanks & Regards!

  • Scheduled report with sub-reports  (Encapsulating page failed).

    Hello Everyone
I am fairly new to reporting and SAP.
I do have a main schedule report containing 4 sub-reports in the sections and 1 sub-report in the page header.
The report runs fine in the Infoview development folder, But whenever its deployed in system_testing folder, it doesn't open and gives the following error:
"ERROR IN FILE XXX:Encapsulating page failed."
I talked to DBA to change the permission for the user, but they don't agree. since its a scheduled report, user can only access the instance of the report, not to run it.
How can I make sure that the sub-reports don't run when user opens the report.
I appreciate any help in advance
    Thanks and regards
    MJ

    Hi All,
We have been facing the "Encapsulating page failed " error sporadic in our Crystal reports. It is not happening always.
We have tried with different user accounts, it did not help much. Also tried various suggestion from the following SAP Notes:
1536964 - Encapsulating page failed - The error change to Database error when the preference is changes
1211088 - Error message "Encapsulating Page Failed" - This is not the case with our reports, we still have some reports facing the same error without an subreports in it
1543412 - Infoview warning: "Error in File xxx : Encapsulating page failed - tried implementing the recommendation , but no help
1900672 - Error: Encapsulating page failed while viewing Crystal Reports based on stored procedures in BOXI 3.1  -- Our reports are not based on stored procedures.
We have faced this error in many different version of BOXI 3.1 like SP4.1, SP7.1, SP7.2. But the behaviour is similar. We have a clustered machine with 2 BOE servers and 2 Tomcat servers.
I have tried activating E2E tracing, but I really couldn't understand the reason for error from the logs. Our reports connect to datasource using webservices.
some information from the error traces.
Verkapseln der Seite nicht möglich.. Internal error: CrpeMgrPEEncapsulatePageEx
I would like someone to help me troubleshoot the problem. I can share the logs if needed. Please direct me to the correct forum if this is outdated.

    ==============================================================================
My understanding is, while generating stubs, dashes or hyphens in variable names m-strFileName, m-strFixedRevision, m-dateFixedTimestamp are interpreted as minus sign and hence compilation is failing.
I tried stub generation from same WSDL with Apache Axis and it's working fine. But stub generation is failing with JWSDP. Is this a problem with this WSDL file ? Am I missing something while using wscomplie command ?
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Here's ttsoapcgi.wsdl file

    Deepank-
When generating forms from Designer, Designer attaches libraries - like ofgmes.pll, ofgnavl.pll, etc. You will need to copy these libraries to the same directory where your forms reside on your Linux box. To find out what libraries ate attached to your form, open it on your windows PC after generating it from Designer and you will see the attached libraries. Also, watch out for the case-sensitivity of Linux. If you have the Designer libraries on your linux box and you still get errors, try changing the case of the names of the libraries.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Creating a range with Substitution Variables for Report Script

Is it possible to create a range with substituion varables for use in a report script. For example instead of listing "Jan" "Feb" "Mar" "Apr" in the report script can I use a sub varaible like Jan:Apr that will list them all out?

while I have not had luck with ranges in report scripts, others have. You could have a substitution variable the is "Jun" "Jul " "Aug" or whatever you want the members to be. and it will replace jusr fine

  • Help to create a Report Script

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to translate this calculation script line
    @REMOVE( @CHILDREN("P&L"), @LIST(@UDA ("Accounts", "wo_CC"), @UDA ("Accounts", "wo_C2"), "AX70000", "C71110") )
by this Report script line :
    <LINK (<CHILD ("P&L") AND NOT (<UDA ("Accounts", "wo_C2") OR <UDA ("Accounts", "wo_CC") OR <MEMBER("AX70000") OR <MEMBER("C71110")))
but it doesn't work ==> Report extract account with wo_C2 or wo_CC
What's wrong with my code ?
    Thank you for your help.
    Regards,
    Yohan

You could do a simple powershell script to query the network path and send an email on failures.
    $test = Test-Path "\\server\folder"
    If (!($test -eq $true)
    {Send-MailMessage -To [email protected] -From [email protected] -Subject "Drive Test Failed" -Body "The test has failed" -SMTPServer yourserver.domain.com }
Create this as a scheduled task on the server that needs to query.
