Report with pipe character delimited

Hi all
we have requiremnt to customize the report to pipe character delimited report output.
Please advice me how to achieve this
Thanks in advance
Anu.

do we need to opn the file in report trigger and select data from table then generate a file with delimited right?the sample code does the same
but it a big report it have formula columns and place holder how can we handle those fileds?the loop can handle virtually biggest report/recs :>)
and where it is saved the output file.depends, might local or networked drive etc. You can pass the file name/path by a parameter to the report.

    Steps to Reproduce:
1)Create a simple XI3.0 webi report through mozilla browser
2)Save the webi report with special character name for e.g øäåýþ.
3)Open the webi report and save it as excel or pdf file.
4)Report name øäåýþ saved, displays with other junk characters instead of actual reporta name( øäåýþ)
5)When saving the save report through IE browser in excel or PDF  display correct report name øäåýþ in excel and PDf file.
Even after making changes in character encoding to UTF in the Firefox options (Content tab-> font & colors : advanced button -> Character encoding does not make any  difference.

  • REP-1219 with MODE=Character

    Hi All,
I am getting error "REP-1219 <> has no size--length or width is zero". I am running the report with MODE=Character. When I run the same report with MODE=Default then it runs fine.
I tried to adjust all frams..fields etc but the error is still there for one or the other object in report.
Please tell me the solution of this problem so that it runs in Character Mode.
    Thanks
    Mona

    Hello,
It seems there is no solution to this proble. I have been searching on this topic for 2-3 years but there is no well defined solution. The only thing that helps is that you scrap the entire bitmap report and re-create it once again in character mode. I have doing reports for last 4 years and am still not comfortable with character mode reports. Recently i designed a very comples report and all is fine in bitmap but as soon as i try running it in character mode "R-1 has no size ....'. This error and documentation on it is completely hopeless - you wont get any help on this and the solution suggested is only an eye wash. I think Oracle should scrap oracle reports and come out with some other tool otherwise we developer keep buring our fingers and oracle doesn't care at all.
In this forum itself - on this topic no one has given solution except.
    Hope some one listens.

  • Oracle Reports with XML output showing data as asterik character

    Hello,
I'm trying to create an Oracle report with xml output. Here is the issue I'm having some of the columns in my report are of datatype number. When I run the report and generate xml file the values for those columns(datatype number) are showing as (*) character, other columns are showing fine. But when I run the report as text output then data is fine. I don't understand why this is happening.
The property of column is Column Type - Database Scalar, Datatype - Number , width 0,-127.
Does the width has to do anything with this?
I'm using Report Builder 6.0.8.11.3, DB version 10g.
Can anyone please help me with the issue I'm having.

  • How to split a string with linefeed character ( LF ) as a delimiter in VB6?

Hi. I am writing a small program in VB 6.0.
I have a string named Data and it contains few characters along with <LF> in it. ( <LF> is a new line/line feed character).
I want to split this string with <LF> as delimiter and store the tokens in an array. I tried with split function and its giving me type mismatch error. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
I am giving the pseudo-code below.
    Dim Data as string
Data = "hello, how are you<LS>good morning guys <LS> hi"
    Dim strarray() as stringMsgbox(Data)
    strarray = split(Data, "<LS>")
When i see the Data in message box before split function, it shows up in different lines like this:
    hello, how are you
    good morning   guys
    hi
I want the final array strarray to be like this:   strarray(0) = "hello, how are you"
    strarray(1) = "good morning   guys "
    strarray(2)  = " hi"
The spaces can be as it is. Just i need the string to be delimited wherever <LS> is there.
Please help me as soon as possible. Though it is small one, i am stuck here.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Can I DL a file and separate fields with a character (pipe, comma, etc.)?

    Hi,
I am trying to download a file using the function GUI_DOWNLOAD, but there does not seem to be a parameter which will allow me to use separators for the fields...like a comma or pipe character?
How do I do this, or is there some other function that I can use?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi,
    Did you check the option
    (WRITE_FIELD_SEPARATOR) TYPE  CHAR01 DEFAULT SPACE
Separate Columns by Tabs in Case of ASCII Download
    Description
In the downloaded file, the columns are separated by tab characters (cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab). You should use this setting if you want to upload the data again from the file, because this is the only way to identify the individual columns.
The parameter makes sense only for the FILETYPE values ASC, DAT and IBM; for DAT it is set implicitly.
    Value range
    'X'   : Write separator.
SPACE : Do not write separator.
    Default
    SPACE
    Cheers

  • How to convert Oracle reports previewer output into delimited file.

How to convert Oracle reports previewer output into delimited file if the report has more than 1000 pages.
I tried with previewer option File --> Generate to file --> Delimited file, but the report engine is crashing. Not generating .TXT file.
I observed that this option is not working for more than 400 pages.
I am using Oracle reports 6i version.
Plz suggest me to generate .TXT file from Report previewer.

You can specify a delimiter (a character or string of characters) to separate the data (boilerplate or field objects) in your report output in either of the following ways:
On the command line using the DELIMITER keyword.
In the Delimited Output dialog box or DelimitedData Output dialog box (displayed with File > Generate to File > Delimited or File > Generate to File > DelimitedData) in Reports Builder.

  • Filter report with checkbox

    I have a report (select A, B, C from TABLE1) on PAGE1
I also added a little form on PAGE1. this form contains a list of checkbox generated dynamically with another query.
I would like to filter my report with the values of the checked items in the form (so we get something like that : select A, B, C from TABLE1 where A in (checkbox1, checkbox4))
    Im using Apex 4
Any idea how to achieve this ?
    thanks

    Hello quiqui42,
You haven't given enough specific information about your situation, so I'll have to make some assumptions.
I'm assuming that by "this form contains a list of checkbox generated dynamically with another query", you mean that you have a checkbox item that is based on a dynamic LOV. If this is the case, let's pretend that if checkbox 1 and checkbox 4 are checked, the value of the checkbox item (let's call it P1_FILTER) is "1:4".
Now, there's probably lots of ways to do what you need to do, but I'll give you two. One is very easy, but could come at the cost of performance; the other is a little more involved but will execute much better on a large table, as long as what you're filtering on is indexed.
    Easy but potentially slow one:
    SELECT   a, b, c
      FROM   table1
WHERE   INSTR(':' || :P1_FILTER || ':', ':' || a || ':') > 0;This could be a performance dog because it will not matter if column "a" is indexed - since you're running it thru a function the database will not use the index. Depending on the size of this table, this may or may not be a concern.
Here is the more involved but better-performing one:
    1) Create a type:
CREATE TYPE filter_vals AS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(10);      // replace varchar2(10) based on the size/type of your filter values2) Create a function:
    CREATE FUNCTION get_filter_vals(vals IN VARCHAR2)
       RETURN filter_vals
       PIPELINED
    IS
       arr  apex_application_global.vc_arr2 := apex_util.string_to_table(vals);
    BEGIN
       FOR i IN 1 .. arr.COUNT LOOP
          PIPE ROW (arr(i));
       END LOOP;
       RETURN;
END get_filter_vals;3) Put this in the SQL for your report:
    SELECT   a, b, c
      FROM   table1
WHERE   a IN (SELECT   COLUMN_VALUE FROM table(get_filter_vals(:P1_FILTER)));Step 1 creates a table type that is used by the function created in step 2. Step 2 is a pipelined function that turns a colon-delimited string (such as what is typically held in a list of checkboxes based on an LOV) into something that can be select-ed on just like a table. Finally, step 3 shows the query that uses the function in a way that allows a where-in clause, which will take advantage of an index on column "a" in a large table.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Export delimiters: ~R - is this just a straight 2 character delimiter?

    Group,
We are doing exports from Oracle to other platforms and having delimiter problems - users inserted pipes, backslashes, whatever in the varchar fields.
I am wondering if the ~R is a 2 character delimiter as it appears, or does it represent an escape sequence like \n (newline) or \t (tab) in Unix/Linux?
Our Oracle team says ~R is literal, but I suspect it may not be.
    Thanks,
    Vince

    Group,
    Queston answered.
I looked at an extract using the ~R and it is a literal character. Got a developer to send me a file (like pulling teeth) and looked at it with a hex editor - sure enough, 2 chars, a tilde and an R.
    Thanks anyway,
    Vince

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

  • Report Builder and the Delimited format.

    Hi,

  • Report printing in character mode in rb6.0.5.28.0

    hi all,
i am facing a problem to print reports, devepoped in character mode.
i am using report builder 6.0.5.28.0
and operating system windows 98 on client.
    The situation is
    A) 1st case: when i run a report (.rep file) with destination type
screen or preview. then i want to print it on printer, but as soon
as i select the printer and click ok button it gives the
operating system's message of "this function has performed an illegal
    operation" and the application exits.
    B) 2nd case: when i run a report (.rep file) with destination type
screen or preview. then i want to generate an text file .txt,
but when i generate to txt it doesn't generate the file as in screen
    i.e. format is changed.
    C) 3rd case: the interesting situation is that when i run
a report (.rep file) with destination type printer and
select the printer and click ok it prints quite fine.
    D) 4rth case:similarly if i select the destination type as file the it

    hello,
    i would strongly suggest you
    1) install the latest patches
    2) check back with oracle support services if your problems persist. check oracle metalink for known problems.

  • Report with non aggregated and aggregated columns from different facts.

    Hi,
We have got requirement as follows,
    1) We have two dimension tables, and two fact(Fact1 and Fact2) table in physical.
    2) In BMM we have made hierarchies for both dimensions, and are joins both logical fact table.
3)In fact1, we are having three measures of which we have made two as aggregation sum, and one is non aggregated(It contains character).
4)Fact2 have two measures, both are aggregation as sum.
5)Now here the problem arises, we want to make a report with some columns from dim and non aggrgated column from fact1 and and aggregated column fact2
How to resolve the above issue.
    Regards,
    Ankit

As suggested you really want to move your none-aggregated fact attributes to a logical dimension (using the same physical table as the logical fact). Map this in the BMM layer as a snowflake, Place a hierarchy on this dimension with (at minimum) Total -> Detail levels, then on the other fact table you want to include in the report, set the content level on your other fact measures to the 'Total' level for your new logical Dim and it will allow them to be present in the same report.

    TIA.

  • APEX 5.0. Report with image stored in a BLOB gives ORA-06502.

    Hi,
I want to create an Interactive Report - Desktop with an image in which is stored in a BLOB but it returnes a: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error.
I have created a test report with only the image (billed - which is a BLOB) and an ID (the PK  - a number from a sequence)
    select ID, billed from foto
I have tried with and without a formatmask for the ID '999999999999999' and the Type as Plain text as there seems not to be a better choice..
For the 'billed' Type is 'Display Image' and the 'Table Name' and 'BLOB Column' are set. 'Primary Key Column 1' is set to ID. 'Mime Type Colomn' points to a field that contains 'image/jpeg' as the stored image is a photo in jpg.
The image displays OK from a Forms application.
DB is a 11.2.0.4 on Linux 6.6 and APEX is 5.0
    What have I missed?
    Thanks,
    Dino

As described in the documentation, the report query must select the length of the BLOB column, not the column itself:
select id, dbms_lob.get_length(billed) billed from foto
