ReportDocument.Load Exception: Failed to find Report Applicatication Server

I am using ReportDocument.Load(InfoObject infoObject, EnterpriseSession enterpriseSession) to load from an InfoObjects retrieved using InfoStore.Query. Though the query returns a valid report (the InfoObjects object is populated), I continue to get the following exception:
Exception Message = "Load report failed."
InnerException Type = System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException
InnerException Message = "Failed to find an available Report Application Server."
According to [this thread|Failed to find an available Report Application Server;, I need to check CCM to make sure the Report Application Server is running. It does not show up in my CCM, but in CMC it is running and enabled. I also verified that the Guest account is enabled and has permissions to the reports folder and RAS.
Is there a way to test (with code) that my RAS is running and accessible? The code I am running is located on a different machine than the BOE server.
My purpose in attempting this is to export a report to disk using ReportDocument.ExportToDisk.
Thank you for your help,
-colin-

This was an issue of mixed code. Colin has opened an incident with SAP Support and the issue will be handled there.

  • Reportdocument load command does not find report

    Hi
      I have been trying to solve this for almost two weeks now and so I was just wondering if someone could send me to the correct thread or link.  I'm trying to deploy a visual studio 2010 asp.net 4.0 website with crystal reports.  The report works on my development server.  I installed the redistribution msi and I'm not getting messages about not be able to find the assemblies anymore but it won't load the report.  I tried placing the report in the following places:
      C:\directoryname
      inetpub\wwwroot
      website virtual directory root
      website virtual directory where aspx page is located
      website virtual directory reports
      inetpub/wwwroot aspnet_client\system_web\4_0_30319\crystalreportviewers13
    and it will not load the report.  I'm unclear if crystal reports for visual studio 2010 using asp.net is considered a net SDK, a cystal report services or something else entirely so I'm not sure where to look.
    Any help in any direction would be appreciated.

    Thank you David Hilton for the suggestions.  It wasn't finding the file before but  now I think it is finding the file but it still doesn't want to work.  This is the code I'm using to display the report:
    Dim crreport as ReportDocument = New ReportDocument
    Try
      crreport.load(Server.MapPath("reportname.rpt"))
    Catch ex as Exception
       console.write("error")
    End Try
    crreport.SetParameterValue("ReportID", session("daid")
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crreport
    CrystalReportViewer1.visible = true
    This works just fine on my test machine which is using Visual Studio's IIS (can't remember the name)
    This is the error I'm getting after I publish the site and run it from the server.  I'm guessing I haven't loaded the runtime for Crystal report correctly but on Friday I blew away the whole IIS and Crystal and re-installed IIS and then the runtime from the SAP website and it stil isn't working so I'm consistently doing the same mistake and I don't know how to even troubleshoot to figure out what step I'm missing.

    while opening my SOA composite on Jdeveloper 11.1.1.5, this webservice I have added before and it was working fine but now I am getting exception continuously, I am not using proxy in Jdev and can't go for new release as other teams have this version only.
    Please suggest what should I do for that.
    Thanks.

    If the server containing the webservices is not running or something in the signature of the webservice has changed, you most likely will get this error. When opening the composite, JDev always validates that all the services that are referenced are alive.

  • ReportDocument.Load() taking long time.

    Hello,
    We are using crystal reports 2010. We are using OLEDB for connecting to reports. When the reports are originally developed, they are saved with a 'Developer Server' set in them. In the production environment, at the time of printing a report, we load the report and change the connection information in it programmatically. We are seeing that the ReportDocument.Load method takes about 20 seconds. I recreated the problem in our Dev environment and am seeing about 50 seconds for ReportDocument.Load to finish when that original development server does not exist on the network. I have turned on CRPE logging and have gotten _bkgrnd, _Diagnostics, _functions trace files generated. I am not sure, which one to look at to relate to the long time being taken by ReportDocument.Load. Any help on that would be appreciated.
    Also could you guide us, how to speed up the ReportDocument.Load for us ? I mean, we would be having the developer server set in the reports and we are going to override the connection programmatically. So in that scenario, what is the best way for us to speed up the ReportDocument.Load process so that if the server set on the server is not existing, return back quickly.
    Please advise,
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
    Apply [Service Pack 1|http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_13_0_1.exe] to Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010.
    There was an issue with CR4VS2010, the report slooks for the database server against which the report was originally developed and this increases the report load time.
    This issue is addressed in the above SP1.
    Take a look at the Below SAP Notes
    14[1439745 - How to improve performance of a Crystal Report in VB. NET application on load of first report.|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333433333339333733343335%7D.do]
    And the article : [Improving Crystal Reports Performance in Visual Studio .NET Applications|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/8029cc96-6ff3-2b10-47a2-b30ea790ea5b]
    Hope it helps,

  • In the ReportDocument.Load method it tries to connect using the using the connection information embedded in the Report File

    Post Author: bhaveshbusa
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    In the ReportDocument.Load method it tries to connect using the using the connection information embedded in the Report File. When the application calls ReportDocument.Load(reportFileName). This
    tries to connect to the database using the connection information embedded in
    the "reportFileName". This was only realised on checking the ODBC Trace
    Log. The connection itself is not a problem. The problem is that the embedded
    connection information is related to OLD production system. And failed
    connections had raised some concerns.
    Note: I am using
    SetDataSource to populate the data for the report. So I don't need the
    connection.
    Is there any way I
    can disable this auto-connect?
    Thanks and
    regards,
    Bhavesh

    I need a help in answering one of the issue encountered last week.
    I have created a database link and tried to access the information from a table using the program written in another language. The password provided was incorrect for that user while creating database link. So we expected that,while retrieving the data, Database connection has to be errored out as password provided is incorrrect.
    But unfortunately, user account was locked out. When i checked with DBAs they mentioned that it tries to connect 16 ports with in a min of time.we were shocked as it STOPS another scheduled jobs with that user. and affects production badly.
    As per the program, it has to connect only one time and yesterday we tried to execute the program in DBAs observation and it errored out as expected. Didn't tried for multiple ports.
    Now the question is, WHY the database connection established 16 times last week and caused user account locked. DBAs are unable to answer it. Any EXPERTs opinion on this would greatly appreciated.
    I have verified managing ports in oracle documentation, it was mentioned that if one port is busy it will try to connect to another port in the range of ports mentioned during the installtion. DBAs verified ports related file and it was blank. and they are not agreeing with this reason. Please HELP me in finding the correct REASON for this.
    is it a NETWORK issue or issue with DATABASE SERVER only?
    Thanks

    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral,
    PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework, Version=12.0.1100.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Desktop.Report, Version=12.0.1100.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers, Version=12.0.1100.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.InfoStore, Version=12.0.1100.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Viewing.ReportSource, Version=12.0.1100.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    Also the webpage that is displaying the ReportViewer object has this reference as well:
    <%@ Register Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"
        Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Web" TagPrefix="CR" %>
    Now, in my code behind I am simply trying to open a pre-built crystal report that came in the sample pack
    When I try and do this in our already built website I get an error:
    "Load report failed"
    With the inner exception saying:
    "The Report Application Server failed"
    This same piece of code works perfectly if I build a new website, however when I try and impliment this into our existing code base I get the error shown above.  Also the samples I've used all use .NET 3.5 and the website is in 2.0.  I'm not sure if that is a factor or not but that is also another piece of information that could be useful.
    Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you for you're time.

  • Load Report failed when opening Report under IIS 5.1

    I recently upgraded to Crystal Reports 2008 (12) from Crystal Reports Basic 2008 (10.5).  I am using Visual Studio 2008 with the CrystalReportViewer.  Now when I run my reports from the website under IIS 5.1 (Windows XP SP3), I get a Load Report Failed.  The detailed exception follow:
    Error loading report (ConfigureCrystalReports)
    CrystalDecisions.Shared.CrystalReportsException: Load report failed. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800001F5): The Report Application Server failed at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ClientDoc.ReportClientDocumentClass.Open(Object& DocumentPath, Int32 Options) at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.Open(Object& DocumentPath, Int32 Options) at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.EnsureDocumentIsOpened() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.EnsureDocumentIsOpened() at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.Load(String filename, OpenReportMethod openMethod, Int16 parentJob) at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.Load(String filename) at ncspo.ReportViewer.ConfigureCrystalReports() in D:\Websites\NCSPO\FIS\ReportViewer.aspx.vb:line 43
    If I run the report using the ASP.Net Development Server, the reports run fine.  It only fails under IIS.  From other posts, I understand that i need to grant the Network Service and IIS_WPG group read/write permissions to the windows\temp folder.  I have done this for the Network Service, but the IIS_WPG group was not introduced until IIS 6.0.  Any ideas on how I can get this working under IIS 5.1?
    Here is the code behind page:
    Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
                Try
                    rpt = New ReportDocument
                    Dim strReportFilename As String
                    If Len(Request.QueryString("ReportFilename")) > 0 Then
                        strReportFilename = Request.QueryString("ReportFilename")
                    Else
                        strReportFilename = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("cr404Page")
                    End If
                    Dim strReportPath As String = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("ReportPath")
                    Dim strReportFilePath As String = strReportPath & strReportFilename
                    Dim strReportFilePath_Full As String = Server.MapPath(strReportFilePath)
                    rpt.Load(strReportFilePath_Full)    <--- Exception occurs on this line
                Catch ex As Exception
                    lblStatus.Text = "Error loading report (ConfigureCrystalReports)"
                    lblStatus.Text &= "<BR>" & ex.ToString()
                    ncspo.clsMisc.LogError(ex, Me)
                End Try
            End Sub

    Am I correct in reading the following 2 documents that IIS 5.1 is not supported?
    If you check this document.  It shows IIS6 and 7 no support on 5.  See page 6

  • All DLLS in site fail to load, exception 0x80070057

    My C# web application stopped working for no apparent reason, while a similar
    application on the same server still works. Looking for ideas what could be
    going on and how to fix it.
    Yesterday I launched a build of the site with some minor updates. The server
    apparently went down during the build, because for a few minutes the TeamCity build manager
    displayed a message indicating the connection had been lost. However, it
    recovered and resumed the build.
    After the build, I was no longer able to load the site. The home page now
    seems to be the only page that can load, and it displays incorrectly because the
    scripts and stylesheets fail to load. If I check the browser’s error console I
    find reports of multiple server error 500’s, where the referenced css and script
    files are failing to load.
    The server is IIS on Windows Server 2008.
    If I go to the server and open the site there, the page gives me error
    messages saying, “Could not load file or assembly ‘Antlr3.Runtime.Debug’ or one
    of its dependencies. The parameter is incorrect. (Exception from HRESULT:
    0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG)).”
    Initially it was reporting the same message for a different file,
    AntiXssLibrary. I removed that DLL from the project, and the site switched to
    complaining about antlr instead. It looks like the problem isn’t either DLL, but
    something else.
    On my machine, a nearly identical copy of the same code works without
    problem. Another copy of the site on the same server, a slightly earlier version
    of our software, works just fine.
    I deleted all of the temp files recommended for this error, redid the build,
    restarted the machine, and deleted the bin directory and repeated the build. I’m
    skeptical that uninstalling or reinstalling any versions of the .net framework
    would help, given that the other site works—any problem with the frameowkr ought
    to affect both of them.
    I turned on assembly logging, which gave me lots of additional information
    that didn’t help at all.
    Any suggestions what could be going on?

    Hi Laura Eve,
    I have google this error, SomeOne encountered the same problem, I have collected some solutions. Please have a look.
       1.  empty your %TEMP% folder:
    close all programs that you are using (the one in the system tray included)
    Click the start button
    click Run
    type: %TEMP% in the box
    click the OK button
      2.  Now a the directory for temporary files opens:
    select all files ( CTRL – A)
    press the DELETE key on your keyboard
    acknowledge that you want to delete all files
      3.  The library lib folder
    are deleted, then SVN update.
    By the way, This forum is to discuss problems of C# development. You'll need to post it in the dedicated ASP.Net Forum
    http://forums.asp.net for more efficient responses, where you can contact ASP.NET experts. Thanks for understanding.
    Have a nice day!

  • What causes The Report Application Server failed exception?

    My environment:
    Windows Server 2008 R2  8 cores 6 gig of ram.
    A Windows Service running:
    Oracle 11g
    Oracle 11.2 64 bit client
    C# 4.0 Framwork
    Crystal Reports Visual Studio 2010 13.0.2000
    This window service needs to create 1100 pdf documents generated by crystal reports per hour for a minimum of 8 hours straight.
    These pdf files are written on the local file system.
    The Windows Service runs 3 threads per core.  Each thread can run up to 5 individual CR .rpt files in a sequential order.
    After 4000 pdf documents created, I get the following errors.
    1) The Report Application Server failed
    2) Server is out of memory.
    3)  Not enough memory for operation.
    4) Invalid report file path.
    Using Windows Task Manager Resource Monitor I noticed the following:
    After running 3000 pdf report requests, I stopped the processing pdf reports and noticed hundreds of
    \BaseNamedObjects\CrystalReportXalanInitizeMutex(Pid of my process)
    Why are they there after a close and dispose of the ReportDocument object?
    I ran Reggate ANTS Memory Profiler 7.2 to check for memory leaks in my code and my code that I have control over is clean.
    Why am I getting the exceptions above?
    My code calls ExportReportToSream.  After persisting the stream to disk, I call Close and Dispose on the stream.

  • Windows 8.1 not booting : "Boot manager failed to find OS loader"

    Hello all,
    I know this question came up before, but I have being trying to fix this for many days now, without luck and I feel I need some new ideas...
    The short story:
    My Windows 8.1 is not booting, and gets trapped in cycle of Boot Manager until I tell the UEFI to boot from disk or USB
    I can boot up from external CD or USB Windows RE, from which I can get to prompt line
    In the log file in C:\Windows\System 32\LogFiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt I read:
    Boot manager failed to find OS loader
    Repair Action File Repair à Failed (err code 0x4001)
    Repair Action Boot Config Data Store Repair à Failed (err code 0x2)
       4. My disk is GPT partitioned, with UEFI Bios
       5. I tried the typical Bootrec commands: FixMbr, FixBoot, ScanOs, RebuildBCD but I always get the error:
    Identified Windows install:0
        6. I tried Bcdedit but I get:
    the boot configuration data (BCD) store could not be opened
        7. I tried to create a new BCD store in the FAT32 partition (temporarily named "v:\") with
    bcdboot c:\Windows  /l en-gb  /s  v: /f ALL
    but I get:
    Failure when attempted to copy boot files
        8. Finally, I noticed that in
      C:\Windows\System32\
    I DO NOT have the file  winload.efi
    while in: ESP\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\
    I DO have the file   Bootmgfw.efi
       One question I have is: Is it possible to copy a "healthy" winload.efi from somewhere in my PC into C:\Windows\System32\ ?
    Where (which path) could I find it?
    Any other ideas? Please help !!!!
    Many thanks!! This is literarily driving me crazy because I really don't want to reinstall windows....

    Hello Kermit_70,
    What is your current situation?
    Please try the suggestion as aw00t mentioned.
    Additionally, please try to use Automatic Repair to fix problems that keep Windows from loading.
    For more information, please take a look at the following article.

    If PulseAudio fails to start as a daemon and the message

    appear, you may need to disable the line in /etc/pulse/default.pa that reads
    .fail

    All the ports and firewall are open, when doing some trace with Wireshark, its assigning some random ports starting with 64960.
    On the same machine, i have installed Crystal Reports 2008, I could publish reports to Enterprise.
    Could you please let me know what might be the issue.
    Is Crystal Reports 2013 need any specific port to be assigned?
    Thanks,

    Glad you seem to have sorted things out.
    The warning about the warranty is light hearted, I think at one stage it warned "here be dragons" but also intended to make us think as it warns that making changes may produce problems.
