Reporting of plan data - which one?

Hi,
Now i am standing before reporting my planning data. Is it possible to transfer to OBI EE without any data, hierarchy loss?
On the other hand, I would like to know which one of the three reporting tools (Interactive reporting, web analysis, financial reporting) shall i choose for reporting my planning data. Are there some advantages or disadvantages to each of them?
For now i started to use Web-analysis...

Hi,
It is possible to use OBIEE to report though it would not be my first option at the moment, there are still issues that will resolved when it becomes more integrated with essbase in future releases.

    I extract the DATA from R/3 into BI 7.0 DSO where I am mapping the GL Accounts with the FS Item.   In the Transformation i have return a routine on the FS Item InfObject . I am checking the Gl code into Z table for the FS Item .
    I capture the FS item from the Z table then update this FS item to Infobject FS item.
    Now i  need to stop the Data upload if i do not find the GL code in the Z table, and generate report for all GL code for which the FS item is not maintained in the Z table.
    Please suggest.

    Hi.
    Add a field that you will use to identify if the GL account of the record was found in the Z table or not. Fx, create ZFOUND with length 1 and no text.
    In your routine, when you do the lookup, populate ZFOUND with X when you found a match (sy-subrc = 0) and leave it blank if you don't find a match. Now create a report filtering on ZFOUND = <blank> and output the GL accounts. Those will be the ones not existing in the Z table, but coming in from your transactions.

    Hi Experts,
    Issue: Report not displaying data from one of the infoproviders
    I have a report 'ReportA' which has multiprovider MP1 as the source.
    MP1 has two Infocubes IC1, IC2 in its design.
    Now, when i execute the report, data from IC1 is displayed. But no data from IC2 is displayed.
    Is there a setting i need to enable in MP1 ? or is there anything else that needs to be enabled ?

    Hi All,
    When i display data directly from the multi provider, without any restrictions, i cannot view the data from infocube IC2.
    I feel its not an issue with the Query. It must be a problem with the setting in the Multiprovider MP1.
    Infocube IC2 is a copy of Infocube IC1. Multiprovider MP1 first only had IC1 in its design. It was recently IC2 was also included.
    I checked the Characteristics, all of them are assigned corectly.
    Now, this issue sure has something to do wiht the setting of Multiprovider or please correct me if wrong.

  • BPS Copy plan data from one cost center to another using vairables

    Hi experts,
    I am trying to copy the planning data from one cost center to another in BPS.
    I have just done it using a copy function and in the parameter group entering the costs centers for source and destinations.
    What I am trying now it is to let the user select what this destination cost center could be.
    I don`t know if this can be done using a variable. What I am thinking is; when the user enters executes the parameter group a pop-up appear that let him select the cost center for the destination.
    May be this is not possible. Can you suggest me other ways of doing this?

    Hi,
    u can achieve this by creating a variable with the replacement type as  'User Defined Values'. You also need to enable the check box 'Input Allowed by user'. And at the planning level, in the 'Selection' tab, you should map the charecteristic (Cost Center) with the created variable. Same thing should be done at the planning package level.
    Then, when you execute the parameter group, a pop-up comes asking for the value of the costcenter.

  • Report is returning data which isn't there.

    I have a simple report pulling data from one table. I went through and deleted the information and I am still having 2 rows show up, where I KNOW there is no data.
    I've gone through SQL developer and copy/pasted the query and I get nothing returned. I've refreshed everything, down to the computer level and even restarted since I first saw this problem, and I am still getting the same 2 rows displayed.
    ANy idea whats going on??

    well I just did this and I have no idea why some of the data showed as deleted and these two still existed. I deleted them in one fell swoop, deleting by the date they were added, all yesterday. Thanks for that pointer though, amazing it was somehting that simple :)
    If I am to include a "delete" button on an APEX app which deletes rows, would I want a commit command inside that button also, or does it automatically get processed?

  • WBS planned data - which Business Content Source ?

    Hi Experts.
    Hope you can help me.
    I am trying to find the planned data for wbs element in datasource 0CO_OM_WBS_2, but the source gives 0 rows.
    I know there are some wbs elements lines that are planned for in transaction CJR2 ( Planning of cost on WBS element )  on the R/3 side.
    Please help me to find the correct Business Content source for these numbers .
    Or tell me if there are some things that need to be done on the R/3 side.

    Do you happen to know how to single out only plan data as well.  We are thinking of not using this source for actuals, since it is without delta.

    Do you know of any standard SAP report that I can use to report on plan data by profit centre on monthly basis?
    I could only find Financial Statement:Plan/Actual Comparison report S_PLO_86000029, but it can show either a single period or annual data.

    LSMW and eCATT has different functionalitites and different advantages, but common thing is they are used for data upload.
    eCATT is mainly used as a testing tool for follow-on transactions i.e. Purchase Requisition, Purchase order, Goods Receipt etc.
    Where as LSMW is used for Master data (Materials, Customer, Vendor, BOM, Inforecord etc) and some of the transactions data (Purchase order, purchase requisition)
    There are many standard objects are available in LSMW so most of the consultants use LSMW, but again depends on the requirement.
    This will help to understand the basics of eCATT.

    Hi Expert,
    I have one requirement where in I need to give authorization to user to save plan data.
    currently we have designed & built role based authorisation. e.g. specific country user with specific role will access particular report & save plan data thorugh input ready queries.
    We are able to save plan data as our role has authorisation as " 0BI_ALL". But we want user should have restricted authorization.
    Kindly suggest the standard authorization available to save plan data.

    You create one cube for plan data and create another cube for actual data.
    Create a multiprovider and give comparision report. this is betterway.
    Or you can also load actual and plan data in one cube but you need to maintain one character like version to seperate atual and plan data.This is not a good work.

    I have a report that selects data from one a table, and i want to populate a form to update the report info and more info that a user will enter into another table. With alot of help I have managed to get the first 3 column fields across by editing the report link, under report attributes -> column link. The values of Item 1 to Item 3 work fine, but how do i get the rest of the info in the other 5 columns across??

    I think you're trying to reinvent the htmldb wheel.
    Have you tried looking at the wizards that help you do this?
    Anyway, as an example, to populate the form using the pk
    1: create your items on the page, including the PK
    eg P2_EMPNO (PK), P2_ENAME, P2_SAL,P2_DEPTNO
    2: create a page process "on load" that runs if the PK item is not null
    begin
    select ename,sal,deptno
    into :P2_ENAME,P2_SAL,P2_DEPNTO
    from emp
    where empno = :P2_EMPNO
    end;
    3: You now need to write a process that does an update
    after submit
    begin
    update emp
    set ename = :P2_ENAME,
    sal = P2_SAL,
    deptno = :P2_DEPTNO
    where empno = :P2_EMPNO;
    end
    You need to consider how to handle new rows, optimistic locking and a few other things.
    I would suggest that you have a look at the existing form wizard that does all this for you. We can then work around any "limitations" you find.

    Hi Gurus,
             I have a requirement in reporting to display actual data from one cube and plan data from a different one.
            The example below might give a clear picture of the requirement.
    rows has key figures and columns = months
    Jan |  Feb |  Mar |  Apr |  May |  Jun  ...   ....
    GrossSales
    Net Sales   
    Now if I run the report for Current month (Apr), then for the months of (Jan, Feb and Mar) i need to get the data from CUBE1   and for the remaining months (Apr thru Dec) from CUBE2.
    Similarly when i run the report next month(may), 
    then (data for Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr  from CUBE1)
    and ( May thru Dec from CUBE2)
    Any suggestions.

         We alreadey have a multi provider which includes
    FinDat Cube(CUBE1) for actuals and Comm.Goals cube (CUBE2) for plan.
    So you suggest that we have two versions of key figure for actual and plan.
    ie. each KF will have two versions.
    actuals = (version 10, FiscPer<curr.mnth, key figure, acutals cube)
    Plan = (version 20, FiscPer>=curr.mnth, key figure, comm.goals cube)
    eg:
    Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun ...
    GrossSales(Act)
    GrossSlaes(Plan)
    Net Sales(Acutal)
    Net Sales(Plan)
    Correct me if I am wrong.
    the report has a lot of key figures, having two versions for each kf will be confusing.

  • Regarding planning data not available in reports

    In my reports I'm populating actual data and planning data.But as of now we have only actual data display's in our report.what we are doing is we are populating data in BW and analysing on the base of the product cutomer (compounded) combination which is coming from r/3.(groups and sub-groups which we are entering at r/3 )
    So our report shows us on the base of groups and sub groups which we are entering at r/3 level.That all is working  fine but our customer wants that planning data is also displays in the reports as of now it is showing not assigned values in report.
    so my question is ,To display planning data for group and sub groups provided by r/3 on the basis of product and customer (though other reports are showing planning data)  , I know that I need to include this compounded infoobject in bps cubes but shall I also need to consider this in the BPS functions?I'm confused here and not sure about this.
    And is that mandatory to have that componded infoobject mapped from underlying ods for customer.Because as of now planning cube is only updated with BPS functions?

    Hi Rubane
    If the actuals and planning data are in seperate cubes then you will need to create a multi over both cubes to report on them together. However your BPS planning must be done against the same infoobject for you to be able to report on them together. If you are planning against the same IO the groupings from R3 will apply.
    Also include the infoobject 0REQUID as a characteristic restriction and restrict it to variable 0S_RQMRC (Most Current Data)

    u try ME80fn here u have to change the views ,in del shedule view u can see the delivery dtae and in PO histry view u can see the posting date
