Reporting (Timesheet Project Aggregation) tasks "waiting to be processed" forever...

Project Server 2010 /SP2/SEM
A few days ago, a job of the type Reporting (Timesheet Project Aggregation) in the queue got "stuck" (by which I mean it shows  processing but at 0%) and some, but not all,
subsequent Reporting (Timesheet Project Aggregation) jobs now automatically go to "waiting to be processed" and nothing happens.  I tried canceling the original job (shows up as number one if you
select "show related jobs") and it cancels all the "waiting to be processed" jobs, but that number 1 job doesn't change.
The timesheet line information that we use for reporting does seem to be hitting the database,  and the users aren't seeing any errors in their timesheets, but the queue is becoming more and more junked up with these things every day.
Also, there are jobs of this type that are completing without a problem.  It doesn't seem to be tied to a specific project they are putting hours against or any other type of pattern that I can detect.
This screenshot only shows some of the jobs, there are a whole lot more in there.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?  There is woefully little information out there about particular queue job types and what they mean, and google has not been forthcoming.  I'd appreciate any ideas!

Are you performing Reporting database refresh? I see the jobs are in "Timesheet' Queue, are you able to process other timesheet jobs?
Did you check restarting SharePoint Timer Service and Project Server Queue service?

    I am using project server 2007 in virtual environment. Before some time, my project server queue service was not starting & it gave Error: 1053. Then server team made some small changes in registry & resolved the problem. After that queue service

    very slow. I restarted queue, event, sql, timer services, but no benefit.

  • Line Classification Reporting in Project Server 2010

    I’m trying to understand the Line Classification (LC) functionality and reporting in Project Server 2010 having not used this before. 
    I have added a new LC titled ‘Billable’ to the system and then added a task to my timesheet with the new Billable LC and then logged time to both the Standard and Billable LCs of the same task (not sure why MS have decided to call this Billing Category
    – rather confusing).  I was expecting that when the timesheet was approved the hours in both the Standard and Billable LCs would be combined and the total show-up on the task in the MS Project Professional plan but this appears not to be
    the case, only the hours logged to the Standard LC show in the project plan. 
    Is this correct or am I missing a step to get the new LC hours into reporting?

    Hi Jane,
    I'll try to be more explicit. Hours logged against other LC than standard will NOT be lost, they will simply not be pushed to the project plan. Only those against standard LC will be pushed as actual work after PM approval.
    That being said, ALL actuals regardless of the LC will be in the Reporting DB and OLAP cubes for example. Meaning that using for example one of the 3 timehseet OLAP cubes, you'll be able to report actual hours against LC, periods, projects, resources, managers...

  • Project Server 2010 Jobs All 'Waiting To Be Processed'

    Hello,
    We have installed Project Server 2010 for evaluation and are running into an issue when creating new projects in the Project Center.  The installation included SharePoint 2010 and is a single-machine install (i.e. DB and WFE on same machine). 
    We can access the site without any problem and when accessing the Project Center and electing to create a new project from Basic Project Plan template, the interface processes the request and then informs us that the request was taking a long time to process
    and to check the Manage Queue Jobs interface for status.
    Reviewing the queued jobs reveals four queued tasks for Project Create, Project Publish Notifications, Project Publish and Start Workflow, all with a Job State of 'Waiting To Be Processed'.  When we originally ran into this issue, we realized that the
    User Profile Synchronization Service was configured to run with the Network Service account and that the two relevant ForeFront Identity Manager services were not running.  We had read that this may cause the queue to not process requests, so we reconfigured
    the system to use a domain account and started the User Profile Synchronization Service Application (which in turn started the ForeFront Identify Manager services).
    However, this did not help and the jobs (as well as new jobs) are still waiting to be processed.  We don't see any errors listed in the queue and can't really find relevant errors in the SharePoint logs or event viewer.
    Has anyone else run into this problem who can provide some insight?  Thanks.

    Another thing to check John, and you may well find evidence in the ULS logs, is that the queue service is really running.  Just looking in Services isn't enough.  When the queue service starts it will check for the presence of PWA sites within
    each and every (probably just one) Project Service Application you have running.  It will then spawn an extra process for each Service Application it finds that has one or more PWA instances.  So you should always see at least two Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.Queuing.exe
    processes running within Task Manager -and if you just see one the looking in the ULS logs should give an indication why it didn't start up (re-starting will give you a fresh entry in the log - which will be easier than searching through lots of logs.

  • Dealing with the AggregateException thrown when calling task.Wait().

    I am new to the Task facility and am curious on best practice here. I am dispatching tasks something like:

    Per my understanding, you could catch System.Exception and switch on the types

  • Ressource Problem: Export with graphical reports from projects with integrated sub-projects

    Hi all,
    i have the following problem with the exported data of the graphical reports possibility.
    Expected output:
    OLAP Cube with processes and ressources
    Setup:
    Project Server 2010 with Enterprise ressource pool
    One main project with 6 integrated sub-projects
    Every ressource is assigned to just one sub-project or the main project
    Problem:
    The data (work and cost) in the OLAP Cube exported from the main project is 7 times (some reports 49 times) higher than the data in the main project
    Tested scenarios:
    Export just processes -> data is correct
    Export just ressources -> data is 7 times higher
    Generate another main project with 2 sub-projects and no ressources in the main project - Export of processes and ressources -> data is 2 times higher
    Because of the tested scenarios I expect that this is a problem caused by ressources and integrated sub-projects.
    I hope that this community is able to help me to solve this problem.

    Using the "Baseline work report", I can't reproduce your issue:
    I have 1 task in each project (2 projects) with a resource assigned on each task (80hrs). The report correctly shows me 160 hrs.
    Which Project 2010 SP and CU do you have? I'd suggest you to install the
    latest version and see if it helps.

     Project owner can modify the the plan either from PWA or from MPP.
    As far as % complete is concerned for assignment only Resource who will be assigned to the task can fill the actual for the task either from Task page or from Timesheet page if Single Entry Mode is enabled. No one else can fill the actual for the task from
    Timesheet page and task page. AS assignment will be available to the only that resource who is assigned to the task.
    But Project owner can do the modify the project plan any time either from MPP or from PWA you can not restrict him/her. But as far as % complete is concerned do the setting 
    To prevent the project manager from updating a team member's actual time worked, select the Only allow task updates via Tasks and Timesheets check box. it will be
    available on server setting --> Task setting and display

  • How to popluate user defined values in Paramter field of a report using "Report Server Project", BIDS

    I am creating report using "Business Intelligence Development Studio", creating "Report Server Project" connected to TFS database.
    I have created Variance report and the output of report  as below sample:

    By default I made Assigned To as parameter field and its showing data for selection in a drop down box (X, Y and Z) and data also filtered correctly.
    Q. how can I fill resource names in a drop down of my own choice (in this scenario, I want to display only X and Y) and display data based on the selected resource? By default parameter displays all the resources which I don't want.
    I did the below but could not get correct result:
    1. Right Click on "Assigned To" parameter, Clicked on "Available Values" and Selected "Specify values" instead of "Get values from query"
    2. Added X as Label and Value as 2 (Employee ID as mentioned in dbPerson table)
    Drop down displays X but when I clicked on report, it gives an error...
    Appreciate your help on this.

    Hi Abdul,
    From the document, we know that CONSTRAINED flag is used to reduce the risk of injection attacks via the specified string. If a string is provided that is not directly resolvable to qualified
    or unqualified member names, the following error appears: "The restrictions imposed by the CONSTRAINED flag in the STRTOSET function were violated."

    We have uninstalled and reinstalled the FSRM role service but are still having the same problem.

    From the error message, it failed because of "invalid argument: storagetype = '101' ".
    101 means the storage type is "system" + "cache". Is there any change on your storage before the issue occurs? For example whether the source storage is changed?

    I had created the PO received the goods against the same. Move Ordered the Goods & Updated the summary of the concerned Project. Hence could see the required purchase commitments against the projects.
    I had created a sales order. Assigned it against a project number. Now I want to see the effect of Sales in the projects. What are the remaining steps I am required to take up in order to complete the process?

    If you have a complex scenarios where part of the project execution is done within Manufacturing, and part of the projects is out of the manufacturing area, you may want to consider implementing Oracle Projects Costing and Billing, and enable Project Manufacturing for your inventory & WIP organizations.
    If everything is executed within the manufacturing cycle, and you are not using Oracle Projects, then you would build your solution for reporting by projects based on GL. In that case, you might need to create a project segment in the accounting KFF. Then you need to configure all the accounting entries of costs and billing to track the project number. Even without using Oracle Projects, it might be useful to enable Project Manufacturing. You will use the Seiban numbers as projects, without cost collection into PA. Doing that will allow you to enter the seiban/project number on the sale order. You would be able to track inventory by project, and plan the WIP jobs by project. Use the Cost Management Accounting Generation Client Extension to control the accounting of the various inventory transactions, and populate the project number value. If you use WIP jobs, note that there is no client extension to control the accounting of WIP. You might consider using separate WIP ACCOUNTING CLASS for each one of your project. You would also need to struggle with the Receivables Auto Accounting for invoices and revenue generation. There you might need to use the item parameter, assuming you could set up separate delivered items per project.

    Are you not storing the project number in the staging table designed for storing the task data? You can use create_project API to create the project and tasks at the same time with one single call. You may want to try that option

    Actually, if you're looking for MAKEAPPDISTRIB (I assume that's how you
    create distributable) you can see if the command was succesfull or not.
    <<deployrep.js>> This Jscript will look for this string and it will
    generate a report based on the next line in the log file.
    The script assumes you have an environment variable (DESCARTES_ROOT) that
    points to a folder (let's say "D:\TEST"). Under that folder you have a log
    folder ("d:\test\log") which holds the deploy.log log file. You can easily
    change the script to reflect your systems settings.
    The generated report looks like that : <<deployrep.txt>>

    Hi,
    To trap error message from Forte log, I usually do this
    egrep '(EXCEPTION|Exception|exception|ERROR|Error|error)' filename
    This takes a regular expression to 'egrep' all occurrences of "exception" or
    "error" not matter they are in upper case or lower case.
