Reports 10g with forms & PL/SQL lib

Hi,
I have reports that I am calling from Forms 10g. The report contains some pl/sql procedures stored in a library.
When I call the report from forms10g I get an error containing the following:
"REP-1247: Background is deprecated. Reports contain some uncompiled PL/SQL functions or program units"
Eventhough all programs and Libraries were compiled and generated.
If I take the program units from the Library and put them inside the report's program unit, all works fine and the report is generated.
On some other PCs I don't get this error however, the program units of the library are not called.
What is the problem?

If so, you could skip RUN_REPORT_OBJECT and use web.show_document to run the report in the 10g environment directly, specifying the full URL to run the report instead of just showing the output from cache. Something like this I mean:
web.show_document('http://server:port/reports/rwservlet?server=repserver&report=report.rep&userid=un/pw@db&destype=cache&desformat=PDF');

How to genetare reports (ssrs) with form library's data in sharepoint 2010.I am saving infopath(2010) xml form data in form library.I have 500 and more forms in the form library( more forms can come in future).How to generate reports from this xml data (i
want to make it automate)? Reports should get updated automatically when any changes made to data and if new form entered in the library.
Please suggest possible solutions.I can not go for code base solution.( somthing SSIS, BCS or web service ....etc or anything else will be fine)

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to generate SSRS report with form library in SharePoint 2010.
In order to use the data stored on the InfoPath form, you need to add the controls on the form to be columns in SharePoint(This is the OOTB way without code).
You can add the control during the publish process:
Then when you create the SSRS report using the form library as the data source, you can use the fields just as the fields created in SharePoint.
There is a tool called InfoPath DB in codeplex, you can have a look at it.

Migration Designer 6i to Designer 10g with Forms generation

Has anyone done a migration from 6i Designer to Designer 10g with Forms generation?

There is a newer version of Headstart available, that version (6.5.4.0.1) is also certified for Oracle Developer Suite 10gR2. I can't tell you if it is the latest version.
Headstart is a product of Oracle Consulting. You have to purchase it from Oracle Consulting. Ask for iDevelopment Accelerators Package.

Invoke oracle report 10g from database pl/sql package

Is there a way that i can invoke an oracle report 10g from the database pl/sql package? I am working on a requirement that needs to generate a report when one of the criteria is not met.

I have a scenario where i need to fetch members details like name , email address and so on from the mainframes on the oracle database. Then on the oracle database i need to check if they have a email address or not. If yes then i need to generate a notice and mail it to them. If they don't have an email address, i'll have to print that out in a some centralized location.
By the way, the notice was developed using oracle reports 10g.
Now i am developing a pl/sql package which will do the address validation but i didn't know how to call a oracle report to generate the notice in pl/sql procedure.
As suggested i will try with dbms scheduler and see if that works for me.

Calling Reports 10g from Forms 10g without an app server

Hi
I have Forms 10g, and for development/testing purposes I am able to run a form in my local machine using the standalone OC4J. I needn't to deploy the form to test it.
I can do the same with Reports 10g -- run a report in my local machine without an app server.
However, I could not manage to call a Report from a Form that way, without an app server. It does not seem possible -- is it? Is there a way to set this up using the standalone OC4J or something like that?

Sorry for the late reply.
Here's how you start the report server from windows XP machine.
1. Choose a unique name for the report server. Eg. <your_pc_name>_repserver
2. As the report server runs in its own process, it can be started by the following command, accessible from the \ bin directory of the
Oracle Developer Suite or Oracle Application Server 10g installation.
rwserver –install <server_name> . It is now treated as a windows service and hence you can stop/start or restart from the services menu.
3. If you want specific settings for your report server, look for the <rep_server_name>.conf file under <orahome>/reports/conf directory, after starting the server from above command. This file is created by oracle automatically, once the rep server gets started.

Apps Version is 11.5.10
Oracle Reports 10g is compatible with 11.5.10 or not?
If Oracle Reports 6i is the only compatible version with 11.5.10 , from where I can download Oracle Reports 6i?

As you said 6i should come with ebs, If they are not able to find it can we raise an SR to get/download oracle reports 6i?I still cant get what is reason of you need to install 6i spreatly? Anyway it comes by default installation. Its mean you have it already,if you havent you cant work wiht ebs nomore.

SCOM 2012 Reporting Components with a shared SQL cluster

Hi, we are planning to install SCOM 2012 but i am a bit confused around the reporting components.
We have a shared SQL Enterprise cluster with multiple instances which we would like to use for our OperationsMananger and OperationsManagerDW databases. However after trying a test SCOM deployment, installing the SCOM reporting components on a VM requires
a local running copy of SQL reporting services.
Is this true? It seems ludicrous to have to purchase an additional license of SQL just to run the reporting components of SCOM. We have spent a lot of money on our SQL cluster and we would like to use it. We dont want to install the SCOM reporting components
on the shared SQL cluster.
If this is true, can you tell me which license of SQL we require? Just to run SQL reporting services on a VM should just require a standard SQL license, right?
Also if we have to purchase a SQL license for this standalone VM, would you recommend having the OperationsManagerDW database on the shared SQL cluster or on the VM where the standalone instance of SQL reporting services resides.
Surely this is something that other people have an issue with? I would have thought most people would want to use a shared SQL cluster. Any help is much appreciated.

Just to add that SQL Reporting Services isn't cluster aware so the best you could do is to install stand-alone onto a node of the cluster.

Technically you can install SCOM reporting on a shared SQL Server Reporting Services instance but as Scott (and the screenshot) state - it will overwrite any existing security settings on existing reports.
Scott is also correct that SQL Server Standard Edition is included as part of the licensing cost of System Center 2012 as long as the SQL instance only runs components of System Center.

I have one SQL 2012 Server with a few instances. 1 for Scom, 1 for SCCM and 1 for Service Manager. The instance shows up as blank for reporting services on the SCOM. Do I have to install SQL on the SCOM box also? Why Can't
it see the instance on my 2012 SQL box? It is in a different instance than SCCM.

Form & reports 10g VS Form & reports 6 ???

Hi All,
We have customers that running Form & reports 10g application and they (must) use IAS 10g for deployment.
But now they are considering to downgrade to Form & Reports 6 (client-server). So they put the Form & Reports to a folder on a server and map the folder to the clients.
Actually what are the benefits of running Form and Reports 10g on IAS and Browser compared to running Form & Reports 6 on client server mode ?

Hi Xto,
If you use Forms 10g in web mode, thin clinets can be used and hardware cost can be reduced. Only you need to have good application server.
And you can access the application from browser and no need of installation/setup in client machiens. so maintanance cost also can be reduced.
These are some of benefits while running in web mode.

Discoverer Viewer(4i) to run Discoverer-reports(10g) with Apps(11.5.0)

We are running Discoverer Viewer(4i) to run Discoverer-Workbooks(10g) with Apps(11.5.0) but we are facing error like 'Unable to fetch workbook' .I guess this is b'coz EUL created in 10g not getting compatible with 4i Discoverer Viewer.
If this is the problem what is my next step?
Can anyone plz help me in detail.

You would need to upgrade everything to the same level if you want to open Discoverer 10g workbooks. This means your EUL will need to be upgraded and you will need to abandon the 4i server and upgrade to the 10g server.
I would encourage you to do so anyway because 10g is much better than 4i.

Report 10g parameter form Error

Hi,
While calling a report I am getting the following error.
REP-546: Warning: The value of restricted LOV parameter TOPROFIT is not among the selectable values.
When I call the same report through another PC it displays parameter form.
I am using Report Builder 10g.
Kindly help in resolving the issue.

I need more details.
1- Are you running that report from 2 different machines using Reports Builder? or Reports Server?
2- If running with Reports Builder, is it the same report? or a different version of the report?
Any other details that you think can clarify issue further.

Missing points + error when attempting to report them with form

Heya, I made a substantial purchase (multiple appliances) on the website on June 15 and the points aren't showing up in any way (pending or other). When I try to fill in the form for missing points, I get this message "The information entered doesn't match our records. If the purchase was made in the past few hours, please try again later.". And, obviously, the purchase was made many weeks ago, so that's not the problem. Where do I go from here? Thanks.

Oracle Reports 10g with rwclient

Hi All,
I m getting the following error when i try to run the report with rwclient.
REP-0177: Error while running in remote server
Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.
REP--1870655474:
And i m able to execute the report successfully using rwrun.
All possible solutions or suggestions are welcome.

Looks like this a known problem in 9.0.4 per MetaLink note 280717.1 - Dynamic Destination Using AfterPform Trigger Not Working In 9i. There is no indication of a better workaround in 10g Rel. 2.

Please Help with Forms and SQL Plus Connection Issues in XE

I am not able to connect with the Forms Builder or SQL Plus with the following errors:
When attempting to connect with the supplied website.edu:port/orcl
ORA-06401: NETCMN: invalid driver designator
When leaving the connection information blank and using my local login and password
for my copy of Oracle XE
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
Based on some reading, I set the TNS_ADMIN user environmental variable, trying each of the tnsnames.ora locations but I'm still receiving the same errors
Location 1: DevSuiteHome\...\tnsnames.ora
Location 2: oraclexe\...\tnsnames.ora

It would have helped if you had indicated what is the full version of 9iAS that you have installed. By default the portnumber that is used is 7778.
As per the entries, they should have already been made in the config files. But check that the 6iServer.Conf file and it should contain the entries that you are being told to update. If not, then add the entries in the 6iServer.conf file and that is all you need.

I have ADF web fusion application in JDeveloper 11, I builded by reports using Oracle Reports 10, also I'm Deploying my project to Weblogic Server 10.3
Now, How could I invoke my Reports from JDeveloper ?
1st: Can I deploy my Reports (JSP Report paper layout) to Weblogic 10.3 and How ?
2nd: How Could I pass parameters from my Application (Builded usingJjDeveloper 11) to my reports ?

I'm not sure if Reports 10 is certified on WLS 10.3 - you might want to check with the Oracle Reports guys on the Reports forum (or with Oracle support).
That said - when Fusion Middleware 11g will come out you'll have a single platform that will run both your reports and your ADF application on the same server.
In terms of invoking your reports and passing parameters - you can just use the URL way as described in the publishing reports manual to activate the report on the report server.
Link it to your application with a goLink component.
