Reports6i doesn't run under OAS 4.0.8.2
I have recently installed the latest version of OAS in our lab, and was attempting to get Reports6i running on it. I had installed 4.0.8.2 on the same computer that I had 4.0.8.1 running on, but into a different Oracle home. I had configured the reports CGI virtual directory, but when I attempt to view a report, I get the error "Unable to communicate with Reports Server." (Or something very close to that.) I also tried the cartridge, and got the same error.
The error message is the same as I would get if I mistyped the Reports Server name under 4.0.8.1, and it can't find it in the TNSNAMES.ORA. I have made sure the Oracle home that contains Reports is the default, and I have tried adding the reports server name to the 4.8.0.2 TNSNAMES.ORA, with no luck. I don't believe I would be able to install Reports into the same Oracle home as 4.0.8.2.
At this time, I am content to run 8.0.4.1, but it would be nice to know if there is an incompatibility, or if there is a way to work around this issue.
Problem solved.
I deleted OAS 4.0.8.2.0 and installed Web-to-go. Then I installed OAS 4.0.8.2.0.

QUICBOOKS 2007 doesn't run under snow leopard
My register now says I have made deposits of $8, 456, 782.4301 AND they were made on 2/03/36. Intuit says "too bad so sad, we are going to release a patch for QB 2009 for MAC that MAY fix the problem, we won't support 2007"
Bottom line, snow leopard has been the buggiest and worst OS installation on a MAC EVER! What a joke. It's getting more like WINDOZE every day. I frankly never bought windoze updates until I had to because they were always a mess but apple was great and I never worried. This has been and continues to be a nightmare.I wouldn't blame Apple and this is Intuit's fault. Most of Apple's partners had either confirmed their apps would work with 10.6 or have published ETAs for fixes. Intuit did neither and is apparently using the shipment of 10.6 to force people like you and I to upgrade to QB2009. (I also have QB2007). Intuit has consistently underperformed vis a vis Mac users....Intuit competitors should see this as a great opportunity. I'll not buy an Intuit product again.
Oh, and re: 10.6....I've installed this OS on three MBP, all installed without issue and users have had no problems. Total time, 2 1/2 hours. I once "upgraded" 15 PC to Vista, which took more than a week and some of the laptops were never the same again. -
VCast media manager doesn't run under W7 64-bit
How do I download music to my new Droid 2. When I tried to install Vcast Media Manager, it aborted because it does not support 64-bit OS.
I'm not interested in having a 32-bit OS just to support one application.

I noticed that when I first plugged my phone into my PC the Windows Explorer came up and allowed me to browse my entire Droid 2 files. But, after allowing Motorola to continue to install the "needed" drivers/software, I was no longer able to browse my phone with Windows Explorer. So, I uninstalled the two Motorola files that install whenever I plug my phone into my PC, and viola! the Windows Explorer works again.
Therefore, the solution for moving files back and forth from your PC to your phone is to not use the VCast Media Manager and just use the Windows Explorer that defaults when you first plug your phone into your computer USB port. When prompted to allow Motorola to modify your computer, say "no". By doing this, your phone won't go to the Verizon Website and block your ability to use the Windows Explorer from there on out.
You'll need to say "no" everytime you plug your phone into your PC, but at least you'll have the file management needed. -
SSIS 2012 package runs under SSDT but fails with permission error from SSMS
I have a simple package that pulls data from a text file located on a Windows file server that runs successfully from SSDT on my client.
However, when deployed and running the package via SSMS from the client, the package fails with a permission error, with the error stating that the data file could not be opened.
I have done some investigation and have seen some info that states that a package run from SSMS runs under the account on which you are logged on to the machine, which I would have thought is correct. This is therefore the same account when running from
SSDT (which works) and I can see from the SSIS Report that the 'Caller' is stated as my account, so if this is the case why isin't the package working.
I've also seen an MSDN forum answer which stated the opposite that the package when run from the IS Catalog in SSMS doesn't run under the account on which the client is logged on with, which is the opposite of the above, but doesn't indicate which account
it is using.
So what account is being used to run SSIS 2012 packages from the IS catalog from within SSMS ?
If it is the account on which you are logged onto the client running SSMS, why is it not working when the account has the necessary permissions (as provent when running from SSDT) ?I am aware it's using my account and not one of the service. There's nothing in the posts above which suggests I'm using the service account. I don't know why people keep assuming that I'm running the package from a job. I've never stated that in any of
the posts I'm running the package from a job. It's been made quite clear I'm running the package from the IS Catalog on SSMS:

Just to be clear, the package is NOT being run from a job. It's using the Execute package option when selecting the package within SSMS from the IS Catalog and it's running under the account on which I am logged on to my client.
Please read carefully. I was just answering your question "So what account is being used to run SSIS 2012 packages from the IS catalog from within SSMS ?" and stating that you where right and that it uses your account to run the package
when you execute a package manually from the Catalog and that you can prove that by logging the system variable.
A good suggestion about using a share in the task to map the drive and I will try this. I would find it strange that SSMS requires this mapping whereas SSDT does not though.
Ok let us know your findings. If it doesn't work you can also test it with a password and username:
net use f: \\financial\public yourpassword /user:username

Does Photoshop Elements 13 run under Windows XP?
After going thru hell with Support on the serial number issue, I find out that PS Elements 13 doesn't run under Win XP? Is this correct? Please don't tell me to upgrade, I KNOW.
That's correct. Elements 13 will not run on Windows XP.
Photoshop Elements 13 requires Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Quickbooks 2007 Mac doesn't run properly under OS10.6 (Reports doesn't work properly, and entries often are correct when highlighted but incorrect otherwise). is there a simpler solution than partitioning your HD and installing on it OS10.5? This works for me, but is less convenient than I would like. Quickbooks suggests upgrading to a newer version of QB, but this workaround saves nearly $200.
An external USB hard drive with at least 40 GB should do the trick.

How to handle RunTime Faults which doesn't list under System Faults?

I have a doubt regarding runtime faults in BPEL 1.1.In BPEL 1.1 some of the run time faults are categorised as system faults.So we can handle those run time faults
using the faultname or namespace(http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension) of system fault itself.But 'SublanguageExecutionFault' is a run time fault which doesn't list under system faults.
So what namespace it belongs to?Can we use the same namespace of system fault for this kind of runtime faults ?
Are any other runtime faults existing which don't have the same namespace of sytem faults?So how can we identify and handle those run time faults?You can create a role menu as remote enabled remote menu.
The authority checks will happen on the remote side, also against objects which don't exist in the calling system as the music is on the other side.
On the RFC client system side, you only need the parameter transaction to start the remote transaction in the remote system.

This is however a rather antiquated technology... it is more popular to use a SAP Portal or webdynpro applications for this sort of thing (the user does not notice the difference) or later versions of such integration such as Fiori UIs or imbedded links within the Business Client.
I don't want to lean out the window too far, but the buggy phase of these new things is approaching an end and they are usable if you are on newer releases. Then you can pool the menu and use APIs for navigation and no more irritating S_TCODE checks.

Application Runs Under Windows 8.1 But Not Under Windows XP (I Know XP Is Deprecated)
The problem is with the obtuse error message put out by Windows's program loader. It reads, in part, "..is not a valid Win32 application." The application runs everywhere except on Windows XP. Looking for root cause of the problem. It's a very
simple application. Only a few lines of code.
C:\Packaged-Software\32-BIT\Reboot.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
Proposed nature of the problem:
1. The file was downloaded from a website but the download was incomplete.
2. The full file system filename path contains bad characters such blank space.
3. Visual Studio constructed an application that won't run anywhere much less on XP.
4. The supporting libraries are not properly installed (e.g. .NET Framework4, and VCREDIST).
Retorts:
1. The file wasn't downloaded from a website and is intact.
2. The filename path doesn't contain any spaces.
3. The application runs under Windows 8.1. Also on Windows 7.
4. The supporting libraries are properly installed.
So, what's the problem? One surely will not discover the root cause from "not a valid application."
Body must be 4 to 60000 characters long. I had put the code here. It isn't 60000 character long. But it validated as if there are more than 60000 characters. Sorry for the incomplete submission due to website construction error.

Hello, I have a Macbook pro which runs under 10.5.8. I want to use a PC interface. I've been told I need to purchase paralell Destop 6, Windows licence and Microsoft Office 2008 for PC. Is that correct ?
If you have a MacBook Pro with 10.5, that's usually a machine that's getting long in the tooth and thus running Windows as a virtual machine (one OS inside another) will likely be slow.
Also spending all that money for Windows (VirtualBox is free) and Office seems like almost a waste of effort if the machine is going to die suddenly.
MacBook Pro's last about 4-5 years.
To do what you want your going to have to upgrade OS X to 10.6, then either buy VMFusion or Parallels which they are now catering to 10.7 and 10.8 users, so it's slow on 10.6, or use the free VirtualBox which will run well on 10.6. Then buy a copy of Windows 7 as earlier Windows versions are not being sold, then Office 11 or whatever.
You can also install OfficeMac into 10.6, if they still sell a copy.
You see your outdated really, and anything that can work is soon to be ignored etc.
What I would consider doing instead, since your not a OS upgrade type of person (we are on 10.8 now which won't run on your machine or be extremely slow) is to buy yourself a decent Windows 7 laptop and install Office into that. Some have the demo already inside and all you have to do is activate it.
This way you get your Windows experience and Office experience, don't have to fiddle with complicated virtual machine software, or Apple's problematic Bootcamp etc as Apple really is leaving 10.5 and 10.6 users behind, and by next summer will be leaving 10.7 users behind too.
Windows 7 laptop will be the cheapest and least stressful option for you, you can continue to use the Mac until it drops dead of course.
I say this because your on 10.5, your like most computer users, just a computer user and not a geek.
You obviously have some reason you need Office, likely for a job or school and since 99% use Windows and Office, then that's what you should be using.
If your only needing Office or Office like program for something temporary, then I suggest you install the free LibreOffice into OS X, however I don't know if it will run in 10.5, you might have to upgrade to 10.6 via the 10.6.3 white retail disk, however Apple doesn't sell it anymore, but perhaps Amazon or elsewhere does.
Sorry, you have been out of the upgrade loop for quite some time, so a new machine is in order as that one is about to die soon, so I wouldn't be spending too much on it really.
If you have a fat wallet you can buy a new Mac with 10.8, and have Windows 7 installed in BootCamp (direct boot) and also into VMFusion or Parallels (copies the Bootcamp Windows so you can use both) and Office for you. It will come all set up, enter your password and use the machine.
I think OtherWorld Computing will sell you a pre-configured Mac all set up like that for you, Apple won't do it though.
You can also pay a local PC/Mac specialist to do the same.
Don't forget setting up a backup system for both Windows and OS X, add anti-malware software in Windows, you'll need that.
IMO a new Windows 7 laptop would be the cheaper, less stressful option, Learning Bootcamp and virtual machine software can be a pain if your not computer savvy, al;so Apple has a nasty habit of upgrading the operating system constantly, now on a annual basis. You don't upgrade and all your third party software, then your denied security updates in short order. Windows 7 laptop will last a decade on the same version, only needing simple updates, not upgrades.
If you want your Windows machine to last even longer, like a decade, then get a desktop tower instead of a laptop.
Mac's are for those who can handle a lot of change, as Apple is about always inflicting change. It's costly change too.

TobiI don't know exactly about your problem. but there are many problems of jdk1.4 . Any applet compiled in jdk1.4 doesn't run in a browser of the machine which has jdk1.3 . This I have experienced.

FPGA code simulation on dev computer doesn't run
Wrote some code in LV2013 for NI5640R FPGA, and when tried to run it on Dev computer - nothing happened. VI isn't running, no errors or popup windows.
While looking for the cause of the problem, I've noticed that in Tools->Options->FPGA module Simulator was set to "<None>". ModelSim is not installed, and ISim doesn't work for some reason (it can be selected, but simulation still doesn't run).
I've tried to repair the NI FPGA, Xilinx Tools 10 and 14 with no result.

This is actually probabably caused by changing your LabVIEW Default Directory under Tools>>Options>>Paths. You can try changing it back, or if you don't have any specific settings in your LabVIEW environment that you want to keep, just rename your labview.ini file (C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 201x) to labview.ini.bak and restart LabVIEW. You could also just do that as a quick test.
