Repositories in BI Apps

Hi
I installed BI Apps 7.9.4. Now, I would like to see the pre-built repositories. But when I go to the OracleBI>Server>Repsoitory, I see only the paint repository[just like OBIEE].
My understaing with BI apps was there would be pre-built repositories and we just need to bring data to the tables and we can create reports in presentation services instantly.
Correct me if I am wrong?

You have to configure BI EE to recognize the Repository and Web Catalog.
Go to: C:\OracleBI\server\Repository
You should see "OracleBIAnalyticsApps.rpd"
In "C:\OracleBI\server\Config" update "NQSConfig.INI" and replace the current Repository entry with the name above.
For example:
[ REPOSITORY ]
Star = OracleBIAnalyticsApps.rpd, DEFAULT;
Next go to: "C:\OracleBIData\web\catalog"
At the moment you should see a zip file named "EnterpriseBusinessAnalytics.zip".
This file will need to be extracted so that you a folder of the same name in the "catalog" directory.
Finally go to "C:\OracleBIData\web\config" and update "instanceconfig.xml" with an entry of the catalog you extracted above. Don't worry about the reversed slashes in the name, the Presentation Server is expecting that. The file looks like this:
<CatalogPath>C:/OracleBIData/web/catalog/EnterpriseBusinessAnalytics</CatalogPath>
If you have successfully loaded the Warehouse and updated the Repository with the proper connection poll information, you will see the OOTB content.

Don't know which "bullets" you mean. It would be easier if you posted which you mean and which you have...
The error message is a web server error message. Something is wrong with their web server.
For port scanner enter "internet port scan" or similar into your favorite search engine and pick one.
The scanner will only test the firewall protecting the router. The firewall does not protect your LAN. The LAN is inaccessible because of NAT. There is usually no firewall between the internet and the LAN. Only NAT.

Multiple development repositories issues

We are going forward with multiple repositories for development. I would
greatly appreciate any input from individuals who have implemented such a
strategy or who have investigated it.
Development would occur simultaneously in several repositories with one
repository ultimately having all plans (projects) from all repositories.
Other repositories would only have the projects that they are responsible
for developing and read only copies of ones that they need as suppliers.
The following are concerns
* Keeping track of project versions and supplier plan dependencies
* Propagating changes in one repository to another.
* What is the definitive number of people in a repository for
development/production. I have heard 10-12 and as many as 25 before
performance degradation occurs.
The solutions we have settled on (in the interim) are:
* There will be no more than 10-12 developers per repository
* Each development team will get their own repository
* All project versions developed will be checked into a source code
control (SCC) program
* Anyone requiring a project as a supplier plan will pull them from
SCC into a slave workspace of their repository, integrate it into the
baseline and check it out (along with all supplier plans to that project
with correct version).
Does anyone else see the headache here?..... Bueller?
BTW our version is Forte 3G2 on HPUX with NT4 clients.

It will only sync what you tell it to sync to each device.

[Solved]Upgrade pacman 4.1 - no usable package repositories configured

Hi, i am another guy who fail with upgrade pacman 4.1
I has pacman 4.0.3-7 and for some dependancy (like yaourt), i need pacman 4.1
He wasn't in system update, so i download it from git : git clone git://projects.archlinux.org/pacman.git pacman
sh ./autogen.sh
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var --enable-doc
make -j8
sudo make install
And now, i got this error
sudo pacman -Syu
error: no usable package repositories configured.

I check the version :
Pacman v4.1.0 - libalpm v8.0.0
I try to upgrade my DB
sudo /usr/local/bin/pacman-db-upgrade
==> ERROR: /usr/local/var/lib/pacman/ is not a pacman database directory.
The only solution i found right now is reinstalling arch linux o.0

Why would you do that? Why would you not use pacman to upgrade/install pacman, or any other package for that matter?
Honestly, this was such a bad idea that I'm finding it difficult to keep myself from berating you with inappropriate language (some of which I instinctively blurted out when I read your post).

pacman-db-upgrade is a transition tool to convert pacman 3.x databases to pacman 4.x databases. Is there some guide that told you to use that to update the database?
I pride myself on trying to be helpful on the forum, but you do not seem to have any idea of how package management works on Arch Linux. This is all covered in the wiki and on the forum. I really do not mean to be rude, but I believe that you would be better off with something else as you seem to just be naively trying random shit.
If you really want to clean up the mess that you've made, uninstall the manually installed pacman, remove whatever AUR apps you have installed that prevent you from upgrading via pacman, then rebuild and re-install those apps after the upgrade.
I also suspect that you are using Archbang or some other distro given that you seem to be new to the distro yet already have yaourt installed. If this is the case then you should direct yourself to their forum. This forum is for Arch Linux.

Currently my desktop is not connecting at all, Everytime I connect, it's states "We have now logged you out" and requests I login again.
I have of course rebooted,
Gone into taskmanager, killed all the relevant threads, tried again to login through the desktop, no luck, I'll have to uninstall it, make sure the threads are killed, then reboot it and then reinstall it, but I've not had the time to do that.
On another note, and just as a point of reference, myself, personally, I hate these "cloud" file repositories (not to be confused with adobe cloud services which I love) but the file repositories themselves imho, are a blackhole of resource usage when one doesn't/isn't using them,
Is there a way we can use it more of a "ftp" sort of thing, when I want to I can put files there? There is no way to "Download" the repository, no way to download the folders.. only individual files and then it takes I think three different steps before the download starts.. I find this very inhibiting. Just an fyi. for what it's worth.

Can u upload .htm file via portal app

i have developed a simple webcenter portal application (11.1.1.6)
i also have UCM 11.1.1.6
I am able to see contribution folder in my portal app.
Is it possible to upload a local file (c:\sample.htm) from my webcenter portal app TO ucm ???
If yes, then what is the taskflow i should use. i used Folder Viewer and Document Explorer and try upload this htm it gives me a popup with
info --- Unable to upload document why ?

where it is clearly mentioned -
"The Document Manager task flow allows you to upload files into content repositories. Oracle WebCenter Framework uses Apache MyFaces Trinidad to handle file upload from a browser to the application server."
and "To change the default settings of Apache MyFacesTrinidad, you can add three parameters to the web.xml file. To edit this file, open the ViewController project of your application. Under Web Content, open the web.xml file. In the Overview, navigate to Application > Context Initialization Parameters, then click the green plus (+) sign to add the parameters and their values (as described in Table 29-1) or simply update the code in the Source view. After you've made your changes, save the web.xml file, then restart Oracle JDeveloper.

Keynote to Dropbox or SkyDrive (broken files since update to ML and latest app version)

This is causing me real pain, and I don't know what it is that is broken.
Since the update to Mountain Lion and updating to the latest versions of the iWork apps on both my iMac and my iPad, when I try and copy a keynote file into either my Dropbox or SkyDrive account (there are reasons for using these, so don't say, use iCloud please) whereas before the file would copy across whole, what I now get is a folder with all my inserted media (video/photos) and a broken up template. The file is not transferring across whole.
Is anyone else experiencing this, is it a specific ML or updated Keynote bug. It's a real issue as I need to share a presentation and can't as the two file repositories I use for collaboration are now not working with the updated application.

It sounds like the "Package" bit isn't being set. Suggestion (1) is just routine housekeeping, run disk utility and make sure the disk is good and the permissions are repaired. Suggestion (2) is a workaround : zip the keynote file and put that in dropbox. Take it out of Dropbox then unzip to use, zip and put back in dropbox to sync. It's not as convenient but it should workaround the problem.

Some software missing in the default repositories?

I am a Debian Testing user so I'm new to Arch Linux and I can't find some packages; Unetbootin, Virtualbox and Wine.
In Debian apt-cache search [packagename] works perfectly, but pacman -Ss [packagename] doesn't seem to work as good.
Many queries don't work while the packages are in the Arch repository. So mostly I use apt-cache search to find software.
Is there a way to configure pacman to work better?
So are these three packages really not in the default repository?
If that's the case then what's the reason?
According to this Wiki article pacman -S wine should work (I use x86_x64). But nothing happens, the package can't be found...
I have the same issue with Virtualbox, according to this article it is not available for x86_64. Why is that?:/
There was a Romanian repository to get VBox for x86_64 but most of the time it's dead. And doing a Windows like installation doesn't seem tempting either.
Unetbootin is a total mystery to me...
Can anyone help?

Here is a pkgbuild for native wine 64 bits http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=24855 But you can run only 64 bits windows apps. Sometimes doesn't compile.
If you want wine 32bits on your 64 bits system then here: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=7915 but you need a lot of 32bits libs.
For virtualbox you can install closed source edition with usb support. Works fine on 64 bits system http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=9753

Multiple UI5 Repositories in Server but no Version:1

Hi.
we have a Problem while developing Applications with Eclipse. When uploading the Application to the Server the developer gets the message that the repositories are not equal and older on the Server.
As you can See on the attached screenshot we habve the Version 1.18 on the Server. That is also the Version we have on the Eclipse Dev.
On another Server we have a Version:1 and that is the newest. On the Server we Need to upload the app we have some Versions but not the Version:1 !
Ho can I set the newest Version as Version:1 ??

in the past we had a problem with detecting the right version when using the SAPUI5 Team Provider in Eclipse - this had been fixed with Note 1982003 - UI5 ABAP Team Provider detects wrong backend version.

SAP Best Practices for Data Migration :repositories only on MS SQL Server ?

I'm implementing the "SAP Best Practices for Data Migration" (see https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/bp-datamigration).
As part of the installation you have to install MS SQL Server Express Edition. The installation guide contains detailed steps to do this. All repositories for Data Services should be running on SQL Server, according to the installation guide.
The customer I'm working for now does not want to use SQL Server, but DB2, as company standard.
So I use DB2 for the local and profiler repositories.
I notice however that the web application http://localhost:8080/MigrationServices does not support DB2.The only database type you can select in the configuration area is MS SQL Server.
Is this a limitation, a by design ?

The current release of SAP Best Practices for Data Migration, v1.32, supports only MS SQL Server. The intent when developing the DM content was to quickly set up a temporary, standardized data migration environment, using tools that are available to everyone. SQL Server Express was chosen to host the repositories, because it is easy to set up and can be downloaded for free. Sone users have successfully deployed the content on Oracle XE, but as you have found, the MigrationServices web application works only with SQL Server.
The next release, including the web app, will support SQL Server and Oracle, but not DB2.

Prefered data storage method for AIR apps?

So I'm starting on my AIR application journey, in the end I would like to develop applications for Droid. I'm used to developing for the web and mostly use MySQL, I've been looking at SQLite and XML as data repositories. I feel that for most of my applications at this point XML files would most likely do the job, but is there a prefered data storage method for AIR applications?
EDIT: I've been looking around for a primer on Flash & SQLite interaction if someone could point me in the right direction it would be very thankful.

For document management, I believe simple file/Directory would be sufficient. have files under a file server, with your app do the proper indexing, concurrency etc from that file server folder, which shall properly stores and index the documents.

Selecting a repository when multiple repositories are available

We are trying to configure access to multiple repositories. We have Two entries in NQSConfig.INI:
[ REPOSITORY ]
Repo1 = Repository1.rpd, DEFAULT;
Repo2 = Repository2.rpd;
However, there doesn't seem to be any way to select which repository to use when you login. I only see the Subject Areas of Repo1, I can't access anything in Repo2. Is there any configuration files that need to be modify to support the selection of the repository?

Our client needed 3 repositories set up, which dictates 1 Presentation server per repository.
Here's what I did:
Installed OAS and OBI (full install) to a single location (Oracle HTTP is not running, but is installed in a separate DMZ with a FW between):
$HOME/10.1.3.1
$HOME/OracleBI
$HOME/OracleBIData
copied all the repositories to OracleBI/server/Repository.
Pointed to the repositories in NQSConfig.INI
All normal, so far... here's the tricky part:
I created 3 new Virtual IPs and bound them to the physical interface on the server.
Navigated to OracleBIData/web/config
copied instanceconfig.xml to:
- instanceconfig_APP1.xml
- instanceconfig_APP2.xml
- instanceconfig_APP3.xml
where APP# is the name of my apps.
Modified each instanceconfig_APP#.xml to add:
<Listener address="VIP1" port="9710">
where VIP1 is one of the virtual IPs assigned to the server (one VIP per app, so APP1 gets VIP1, APP2 gets VIP2, etc.).
This allows the same presentation install to start multiple servers (almost).
The next mod:
in OracleBI/setup, I copied run-saw.sh to run-all-saw.sh
The check to see if a sawserver is already running is a crappy one - it just runs:
ps -ef | grep "user" | grep sawserv
or something similar, which is garbage, since there is really no reason that the same user can't start multiple Presentation servers on different ports and/or IPs.
so - I modified run-all-saw.sh... here's a snippet of the "start)" section of the case statement (near the bottom of the script):

So that forces the saw server to try and start, even if it finds a saw server already running (sure, there are other ways to make that a cleaner check, but I wanted to be minimally invasive for maintenance/upgrade purposes).
Now, the last step:
in the $HOME, I created 4 scripts:
start_saw_APP1.sh
start_saw_APP2.sh
start_saw_APP3.sh
start_saw_ALL.sh
The start_saw_ALL.sh is the simplest... it just calls the other 3 script in order from APP1 to APP3, with a sleep 5 command in between:

$HOME/start_saw_APP1.sh
sleep 5
$HOME/start_saw_APP2.sh
sleep 5
$HOME/start_saw_APP3.sh
----End start_saw_ALL.sh----
The sleep command gives the presentation server ample time to read the .xml file before slamming in the next file in the list. I tried without the sleep lines, and only the last server instance started up. You might need to adjust these to longer times if you experience issues...
The start_saw_APP1.sh script is:

cp $HOME/OracleBIData/web/config/instanceconfig_APP1.xml $HOME/OracleBIData/web/config/instanceconfig.xml
$HOME/OracleBI/setup/run-all-saw.sh

so when I start all three, I can do netstat -a | grep 9710, and I see:
VIP1.9710 LISTENING
VIP2.9710 LISTENING
VIP3.9710 LISTENING
On the Oracle HTTP Server, I deployed the analytics.war to APP1, APP2, APP3, and modified those web.xmls to point to their respective VIP:9710 addresses (APP1's web.xml uses VIP1:9710, APP2 uses VIP2, etc.).
This allows ONLY port 9710 to be opened in the firewall from the DMZ to the internal network, and only ports 7777 and 4443 external.
Nice and secure, and doesn't require maintaining one Presentation install per application.
The instanceconfig.xml is the ONLY thing that is holding us back from using multiple repositories in the same instance... if the instanceconfig.xml was allowed to contain multiple Server Instance tags, this wouldn't be an issue (I tried that too, it doesn't work).
I'm working on a way to shut down one instance at a time - that issue revolves around the same "idiot check" that the start process does to see if more than one Presentation server is running. For now, I'm just using run-saw.sh stop, which brings down all 3 instances.
Good luck everyone... happy to answer any questions you might have. I would imagine that a similar setup would work just find on Windows server - I know you can bind multiple IPs to a single NIC, so you should be in the same boat.

Two repositories in sync, checkoutallcomps

What is a practical method of keeping two repositories in sync?
We have two development repositories that we keep in sync for
foundational/framework components:
main development repository
prototyping repository (new and unusual applications/services)
The prototyping repository is kept synchronized with changes in
the main development repository by exporting a workspace with
IDs from the main repository and importing it into the
prototyping repository. In order to import the workspace we need
to check out all components in all plans/projects that are in the
workspace export file.
The problem we are having is that generated components in
Express-generated projects---these are the "<...>Base<...>"
classes---are not checked out by the fscript command
"checkoutallcomps". It appears that the only way to check out
all components in an Express-generated project is to check them
out individually with the fscript command "checkoutcomp".
fscript also does not appear to have any language constructs for
iterating over all components in a project.
Any ideas on the checkoutallcomps problem, or generally on
keeping two repositories in sync?

Ahh...Well this question about sync-ing Macs has been tossed around so much, the answer is down to you and which program you like the most.
I personally would suggest DropBox or Sugar Sync for your needs, as Chronosync can sometimes be a bit temperamental (in my personal experience). With both DropBox and SugarSync you pay for how much data space you need to store the data and a good option in it is that you and select what you want sync-ed from one Mac and where you want it placed in the other Mac. You can have it Bidirectional (both ways) or just one direction. And also you then have another Online Backup of your data so you know its safe. With both Sugar Sync and DropBox you get encryption so no one can (theoretically) get your data while it is being transferred.
I have tried both Sugar Sync and DropBox for a short period of time and they both are great for situations like yours.
Now for what you want sync-ing is again down to what you need, but as you want your documents and Lightroom lib. then you basically need to sync your Documents, Pictures folder and Music folder (if you want it). I am guessing you have Lightroom and Photoshop installed on both Macs (if so, there is no need to sync then Apps folder).
I personally no longer use a Sync method as I have set my Mac Pro up as a server so when out I can VNC and AFP back into it using a DynamicDNS host name. If you want to know about this option ask and I will explain in detail.

we had implemented bi apps at three sites. in addition to the prebuilt we have built customized schema at one of the customer site. now the other customer site is interested to have the exact thing in their application and they want this as a package. any thoughts on how to achieve this

use the same infa and dac repositories with due permissions from the other client. Do customize this repository according to the new client environments.

I am not certain I understand what a Firefox "app" is that ''functions outside of firefox'' That sounds like what we usually describe as a plugin.
