Is there a way to create a repository / package from an existing schema?

I understand the relationships pretty well.
We have ported a lot of ddl (100's of tables) and auto-generated lots of the triggers for them. That's how we work on other databases so the code is all there...
We'd like to have a way to generate packages from this so we can extend all this built in schema / triggers. I understand it's "backward", but if you have all this content, it would be nice not to have to generated the package content by hand.

I am on MDM 5.5 SP6 Patch 1 and the option is visble here.
May be on smaller version this option is not there.
well, on right click on your Repository level , Do u get option Export Repository Schema and Import Repository Schema.
if yes, you can achieve the same, firstly create a new repository and then use option Import Repostory schema, you will get the same result as "Create new repository from schema"

Create MDM repository from repository schema.

Hi,
I have exported MDM repository from one MDM console schema and saved it. Now I am trying to create a Repository from a different MDM console using this Schema. I am getting the Error "ERROR LOADING FILE".
The versions of these MDM are different. Is this causing the failure? How can I overcome it?

Hi Mahesh,
This is an Un-usual error, which even I am facing. In my case there is no version mis-match. I am trying to take the Export the Schema from a rep in 1 MDM server and then importing into another rep in another server.
Hence it might not be a version issue.
However, check the following things in your case.
1. Check the Original repository for error and repair them if found any. Upload your repository with Updated indices. Export the schema out and save it on your desktop.
2. Try creating a new repository using Import Schema on the same MDM server and check if its still showing you an error.
3. Try importing the schema on an Existing repository on the same MDM server.
4. Try Importing the schema and create a new repository on a different MDMserver.
Please check it in a test environment and no need to press the OK button while Import schema. We just need to see if the Import schema windows opens.
If in any case, you do not find the error, then probably we can understand the clear reason of the Error.
If error still persists, then would advice you to raise an SAP ticket for the same.

Error migrating Master Repository from Dev. to Prd, Environment

We are trying to migrate our development environment (dev_env) to production (prd_env), so for this we are doing the following:
- We create a Execution Work Repository (prd_env)
- We create a Master Repository (prd_env) with different internal ID (dev_env)
- We export one scene from dev_env and import to prd_env
- We export Master Repository from dev_env and import to prd_env, but in this point we have problem with the import wich say
"com.sunopsis.tools.core.exception.SnpsSimpleMessageException: ### KEY com.sunopsis.res.object / DwgDuplicationTools.GeneralImportObjectFailureMsg### a"...".run(Unknown Source)Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (....) violated - parent key not found"

Both your Prod and Dev are in same platforms?
Normally Dev we do on windows and production in Linux.
IF, your case is above. then create another schema in same platform(DB and OS ) and import the master and work repositories in Insert update mode from dev.
After import, re-export this newly created repositories and try importing into your production.
I have faced the similar issue and after following the above process, I am able to import my master and work properly.
If you are still not able to resolve this issue after following the above way.
Then try export you Logical and Physical Schema instead of master repository.
While importing , please import the Physical topology(Topology) and then the Logical Topology.

Conect to Work Repository from Open Tool

Hello.
I'm developing a new Open Tool plugin, and I would like to know if there's any way to connect to the work repository through ODI Java API.
That's it, I could add JDBC connection parameters to the plugin so the user can put there the driver, the JDBC URL, etc. for connecting to the Repo. But, if it's possible, I'd prefer to connect through some Java functions. Another option would be to add a schema in the Topology for the work repository DB, and read the connection data from it, so the user only had to enter the name given to the schema.
In a few words, my aim is to make user's life easier and make the plugin looks well integrated into the ODI platform.
Also would be great to know about a good advanced Open Tool development tutorial.

Hi,
If you would like to move your source models, target models and project contents from Work repository 1 to another work repository.
I.e. Dev. server to Prod Server.
1. Firstly, replicate the master repository connections i.e. with same naming conventions manually
2. Go to Dev. Server work repository -> File Tab -> Click on Export work repository (save it in a folder)
3. After exporting, you can view the xml files in the folders.
4. Now, Open the Prod. server and make sure you already replicated mas. rep. details.
5. Now, right click on model and import source model in synonym mode insert_update (select source model from the folder where your xml file located)
6. Similarily, import again target then Project.
Now, check. It should work.

From schema 1 to schema 2 migration delegated admin problem

I want migrate from schema 1 to schema 2 the messaging server 6.2 ( jes 2005q1).
I have install access manager and delegated admin.
With the commdirmig I migrate the domain and schema , the messaging work correctly.
I have a problem with the delegated admin web interface.
The delegated don't view my domain. If I add the sundelegatedorganization objectclass I can view my domain on delegated admin but I can view user and group.
Any Idea?

There are two very different products called "deletaged admin". The old iPlanet Delegated Admin (iDA) only works with Schema 1. The current Delegated Admin, that comes with JES3 only works with Schema 2.
If you're using the old iDA that worked with schema 1, it won't work with schema 2. You have to install the new DA for that.
It doesn't work with groups/lists, only with users and domains.

Can't remove default repository from EM

Please can someone give an idea on how to permanently delete the default repository from oracle enterprise manager winfow. I am on windows xp with OBIEE 11g.
I tried commenting out the NQSConfig from Star, but it keeps getting re-created

Best way to upgrade the local repository from 11.7.3 to 12.2.3.3 DS 3

Hi, we are going to upgrade our DI 11.7.3 to DS3 - 12.2.3.3 in Sep. I found out there are different ways to upgrade the local repository from the SAP doc and tech support. I try to find a best and safe way to do it. If anyone had experince and inputs on this. It would be great appreciated. It seems there are these options:
we all agree that need to back up the repostiry db, and export the repository to atl file.
Option 1:
Upgrade the repository during the Data Services installation. But the tech support said there are times where this does not work as expected and Option 2 below needs to be implemented.
Option 2:
a) Export the local repository, via 11.7.3 Designer, to an ATL file.
b) Uninstall 11.7.3.
c) Create a new database in SQL Server to use with 12.2.3.3. (Optionally, use the existing 11.7.3 database. If you do, make a backup of it before making any changes).
d) Install Data Services 12.2.3.3 and reference the database created in step "c" above during installation (select the Create option).
e) Log in to the new local repo, via 12.2.3.3 Designer, and import the ATL that was exported in step "a" above.
Option 3:
a. Create a new database u2013 20 MB space
b.Create a new repo in 11.7.3 point to ds_local via Repository Manager (click create)
c.Log in 11.7 designer and Repository import from out.atl
d.Install 12.2.3.3 without upgrde the repostory
e.use epository manager in 12.2.3 to upgrade the new repository

Hi.
If you import the 11.7 atl into a 12.2 Designer you will face a warning message like this:
"The version 11.7 of the ATL file <c:\export.atl> is lower than the repository version <12.2>.
To update an ATL file, import it into a repository of the same version then ugrade that repository"
So, the correct method to upgrade the Data Integrator 11.7 repository to Data Services 12.2.x is the following:
- Export the complete Data Integrator 11.7 repository to ATL.
- Create a NEW Data Integrator 11.7 Local Repository.
- Import the ATL created in step 1 to the NEW Data Integrator 11.7 Repository. At this point you have two identical local repositories.
- From the Data Services 12.2.x system, open Repository Manager.
- Enter the Database connection information to the NEW repository created in step 2.
- Select UPGRADE, to upgrade this repository to support Data Services 12.2.x.
- Log into Data Services Designer to start using this Local Repository.

Solved my own problem and forgot to post the answer: the "xsd:import" is also considered as a targetNamespace, so each xsd:import needs a package specified as well when using oracg. It would be helpful if the Oracle documentation had stated that, but it does not point this out.

Hi,
I want to upload Image in MIME repository from my BSP Application. I want to access again or reuse uploaded image later in my BSP application. Can you please help me how to do this?

but this is not helpful in my case. It only uploads in cache (temporary) not in MIME repository.

How to exclude a partition from schema mode export?

I am using Oracle 10g Data Pump Export utility expdp. What I am trying to do is to export a single schema, except for a certain partition P in table T.
I have tried:
expdp user/pass@db dumpfile=... logfile=... exclude=table:" = 'T:P' "
(please ignore the OS specific text escaping issue)
It doesn't work. The whole table T gets exported.
Is there a way to exclude partitions from schema mode export?
If not, is there a way I can achieve the same with DBMS_DATAPUMP API?

Try “QUERY” Data Pump Export parameter. Unless your partition is a hash partition, you should be able to constrict a where clause that gets you all records in the table, except the records for the partition you want to exclude.
For instance if you want to exclude a range partition (between 100 and 200) on the col1 column you should put something like this:
QUERY= USR.TAB:”WHERE COL1 < 100 OR COL1 > 200”This approach would export the partition definition though.

Move OWB Repository from a srvr running 9.2.0.6 to a srvr running 10.1.0.2

I am attempting to move an existing OWB repository from a DB on a server running 9.2.0.6 to a DB on a server running 10.1.0.2. The Target and source servers are running Windows 2000 Advanced Server. All OWB components are 9.2. Until now all DB components are 9.2.0.6. The target server is running HTML DB using 10G. I am reluctant to have two production database levels on the target server, but I will if I have to.
I want to move the instance. What is the best way to accomplish this? There are several ways and I want to follow the course that will:
1) Be a straight forward install
2) Be maintainable
3) Require the least interaction with multiple clients
4) Assure that OWB and Workflow will work with the source/target DBs
I realize that this is a complex question and I have not fully described all of the moving parts, but I hope this provides sufficient information to start working towards a solution. If I left any pertinent information out, I would be happy to provide the information to flesh out this issue.

Hi,
If you want to avoid running 2 database level you will need to upgrade your OWB repository to 10 (done via OWB export/import) and all OWB clients also (both of which contravene many of your 4 requirements). We went through this process last year (from 9 to 10 for database and OWB) and found a couple of issues during testing requiring changes. It would be best also to redeploy all OWB code to your target 10 database if you take this option.
There is a lot more I could say, if you have any specific questions or want more info, I'd be happy to help.
