Repository patch in 10.1.2.2?

Hi
I would like to know if the patch 10.1.2.2 only is a patch on the client side or if I need to patch the repository as well.
Best regards
Marika

The release notes state:
This is the download of Oracle Designer Release 10gR2 (10.1.2.2). It is a
full maintenance release.
If you have an existing Oracle Designer 10gR2 (10.1.2.0.2) release on your
machine (shipped with Developer Suite 10gR2 10.1.2.0.2), use this download
to upgrade Designer to release 10gR2 (10.1.2.2). Install into the same
Oracle home as your existing release, then run the RAU to upgrade the
repository.
If you do not have an existing Oracle Designer 10gR2 release on your
machine, you must first install the certified version of Oracle Developer
Suite 10gR2 (10.1.2.0.2) and then proceed for upgrading repository.
How to install Oracle Designer 10gR2 (10.1.2.2)
1. Download the self-extracting zip file to a temporary directory and unzip
it.
2. Run setup.exe from the temporary directory to invoke the Oracle installer.
This will install Oracle Designer 10gR2 (10.1.2.2) on your client machine.
3. Follow the server-side installation instructions given in the Repository
Installation Guide to create a new repository or upgrade an existing
repository.
So you will need to install this patch on the client side and then upgrade the repository from the RAU.
If you have further questions please create a Service request and I will answer them there.

  • 9.0.2.6 Portal Repository Upgrade Patch problems.

    We got some problem with Portal when tryed to apply
    9.0.2.6 Upgrade. Could anybody give advice on this issue:
    Initial configuration:
    Solaris8, Portal 9.0.2.2.14, Oracle 9iAS R2 v.9.0.2.0, RDBMS 9.0.1.3. The infrastructure and midtier work on different SPARC-servers.
    Accordingly upgrade procedure we succesfully applied:
    a) Infrastructure: 9.0.1.4 Patchset for Oracle RDBMS server, 9.0.2.2 Patchset for OID, Oracle 9iAS SSO-server
    migration to 9.0.2.5, 9.0.2.2 Patchset for 9iAS Core.
    b) 9.0.1.4 Patchset for Oracle RDBMS server, 9.0.2.2 Patchset for OID, Oracle 9iAS SSO-server migration to 9.0.2.5, 9.0.2.2 Patchset for 9iAS Core, Portal 9.0.2.6
    patch.
    After this we needed to make just one last step:
    Portal 9.0.2.6 Repository Upgrade Patch (2981297) for
    changing Portal's repository schemes. It worked but
    like a result we got the next errors after patch upgrade
    was done:
    a) "The following invalid non-Portal objects exist in the Portal Schema: INDEX ABC (the name of portal object), PACKAGE BODY WWMON_REP_REPOSITORY, PACKAGE BODY WWMON_REP_REPOSIT_DTL, PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "," when expecting one of the following: (-+case mod not null <an identifier>,...) The symbol "null" was substituted for "," to continue.)" See upgtmp/nonportal.log
    b) "ERROR: 1 invalid objects remain; ERROR: Failed while updating the new portlet IDS..."
    c) "ERROR: ORA-01407: cannot update ("PORTAL"."WWSBR_URL$"."URL") to NULL.
    d) Two package body of packages at PORTAL scheme became invalid: WWMON_REP_REPOSITORY, WWMON_REP_REPOSIT_DTL. About 20 package body of packages at PORTAL_DEMO became invalid (It seems like initial portlet ID's disappeared
    and except of pportlet_id there is nothing:
    Example:
    inital statement at body:
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    PORTAL.wwpro_api_invalidation.invalidate_cache(
    p_provider_id => p_provider_id,
    p_portletid => 1065753336,
    p_instance_id => p_reference_path,
    p_subscriber_id => PORTAL.wwctx_api.get_subscriber_id ,
    p_user => PORTAL.wwctx_api.get_user);
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    after upgrade repository patch:
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    PORTAL.wwpro_api_invalidation.invalidate_cache(
    p_provider_id => p_provider_id,
    p_portletid => ,
    p_instance_id => p_reference_path,
    p_subscriber_id => PORTAL.wwctx_api.get_subscriber_id ,
    p_user => PORTAL.wwctx_api.get_user);
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Like a result after 9.0.2.6 Portal Repository Upgrade Patch application we lost the possibility to edit user's
    profiles at Portal and other nesessary features. It seems
    like some portlet ID's just dissapeared from Portal scheme. Could anybody had the same problem with Portal Upgrade 9.0.2.6? Quite possible that we missed some important element at during upgrade but ,really, we didn't wait so unlucky result. Advice something, please...
    Regards. Igor.

    Igor,
    Since you've encountered undocumented errors, your repository upgrade has failed. You'll want to leave the repository as is for troublshooting, if at all possible, and log a TAR with support if you haven't already. They'll ask you to upload your upgrade log file and your upgrade tmp directory.

  • Portal Patch - 10.1.2.3 as + 10.1.4.2 portal

    Hi Experts,
    We have tried to install the patch p9386084_101420_GENERIC to avoid the vulnerabilities. But we have got the error says that " ERROR:Oneoff cannot be installed , incompatible portal version Recompiling all Invalid Objects ,this may take a while " .
    Tried to get the version of portal through the table portal.wwc_version$ - but it returns no rows selected. However we can see the portal version in app_registry & dba_registry.
    Can any one please suggest me how do we get out from this issue ?
    Thanks
    Lakshmanan

    Yes, make sure you have a backup of your Portal repository. Portal CPU patches come as repository patches and mid-tier patches. If you have multiple Portal mid-tiers then the repository patch only needs to be applied once and the mid-tier patch to every Portal mid-tier.
    To find the Portal password:
    1. Login to your OID using Oracle Directory Manager with the orcladmin account.
    2. Navigate to the following branch in your OID tree:
    Entry Management
    -> cn=OracleContext
    -> cn=Products
    -> cn=IAS
    -> cn=IAS Infrastructure Databases
    -> orclReferenceName=<service_name>
    -> OrclResourceName=PORTAL_PUBLIC
    3. Look up the value stored in the following attribute:
    orclpasswordattribute

  • Questions about the new Exp-Imp Patch 4174930

    Hello
    Looking at the README for the Exp-Import Patch 4174930 for IAS 9041, I see different commands specific for the Midtier patching and the Repository patching.
    However, it does not mention where I would need to run them from, and the sequence. I would assume the Infrastructure would be the first step, but the documentation is not clear on the above two areas.
    Can someone clarify pls

    Hi:
    You can apply patches from the midtier home only,specify the connect details while running the command.
    The readme does seem to have the exact steps :
    Applying this patch:
    ====================
    1. Once you have the patch bundle from metalink,please extract the contents under a directory e.g.$HOME
    This would create a <bugnum> directory under $HOME/<bugnum> e.g. $HOME/<bugnum>
    2. Now set your $ORACLE_HOME environment variable to point to a 9041 Midtier .
    3. cd $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch
    4. Run opatch with the right parameters to proceed with the installation.
    ./opatch apply -silent <patchbundle Location> -pre -s <portal_schema> -p <portal_password> -c <connect_string>
    Thanks,
    Anu

  • Why apply 10.1.0.5 patch to SSO/OID server? [Moved]

    The readme for patch 4960210 (OAS 10.1.2.2) indicates that the Database patch for 10.1.0.5 should be applied to the OAS SSO/OID server.
    In my configuration, the SSO/OID are on their own server, but the database is an existing Oracle Database on another server.
    Does anyone know if the 10.1.0.5 patch should be applied to the SSO/OID server ONLY if the database is on that server and was installed as part of the OAS install?
    If the database is on a separate server and is version 10.2, then does the SSO/OID patch for 10.1.0.5 need to be applied?
    overall, I am trying to patch my OAS install to 10.1.2.2, and the 10.1.0.5 database client patch is a prerequisite.
    TIA
    I copied this post to Portal Upgrades and Patchsets forum. Posted here by mistake.

    The Application Server ORACLE_HOME uses 10.1 Required Support Files (RSFs). In other words, there are database binaries and libraries in your Application Server Oracle Home. A good example is the shared library libclntsh.so. These binaries and libraries are patched when you install the 10.1.0.5.0 patch set.
    In your specific environment you will need to install the 10.1.0.5.0 patch set first before applying the AS 10.1.2.2.0 patch set. Metalink Note 359362.1 (Known Issues Applying Oracle Database 10.1.0.5 Patch Set to OracleAS 10g (10.1.2)) is probably mandatory reading before you start.
    One note on portal :
    When you apply AS 10.1.2.2.0 metata repository patch set on top of Portal 10.1.2.0.2, you will get Portal 10.1.2.2.0. If you need Oracle Portal 10.1.4, you will need to upgrade Oracle Portal 10.1.2.2.0 to Portal 10.1.4.0 first with the upgrade cdrom in your Application Server Media Pack. After the upgrade, you can run the metadata repository upgrade part of the AS 10.1.2.2.0 patch set again to install the 10.1.4.1 Portal patch.
    If your Oracle Portal is 10.1.4.0 already, the metadata repository will take you to 10.1.4.1.
    And I even managed to upgrade to 10.1.2.2.0 so it should not be too difficult :-)
    Good luck !

    To avoid contratictory fixes. Essentially, with patch 5 you aply a fix. Upgrade to 1.1.2 removes it (or even worse case leaves orphaned files etc. since it does not know about the fix) and then patch 2 applies it back. It will work fine as long as the "fix" is exactly the same. That assumption can be wrong.
    Even the release notes were made to reflect that an upgrade to 1.1.2 requires you to be at 1.1.1 patch 3.

  • 9.0.2 9.0.2.6 upgrade

    Anybody try the 9.0.2 > 9.0.2.6 upgrade? Care to tell what was involved, how it went, and were you happy with the end results?
    I'm curious because we have a two-tier Win2K 9.0.2 architecture in production and no development servers in which to test the process. Thanks!
    Mike

    We have successfully downloaded both the instance and the repository patch sets for the portal 9.0.2.6 upgrade.
    However, it is not clear how to install the repository upgrade for Windows. The only executable files in the distro appear to be Unix shell and Perl scripts.
    The instructions at
    http://bigip-aru.oracle.com/ARULink/PatchDetails/view_readme?platform=2000&language=0&patch_file=&password_required=&aru=4456508&patch_num=2981297&release=179020&show_lang_warning=&show_plat_warning=&default_language=0&default_platform=2000&orderby=&direction=&no_header=0&sortcolpressed=&tab_number=&email=unknown&userid=dhorlick
    are similarly UNIX-specific.
    When we try to download the release notes at
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/MAINPAGE/UPGRADE/TARGET9026/9026P_RN_0.PDF
    we get the mysterious error message "A file error has occured."
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Dont understand different versions of Portal

    Hi,
    I see Portal 10g Release 2(10.1.4)
    and then i see Portal 10g Release 3(10.1.3)
    here Release 2 shows 10.1.4 and Release 3 shows 10.1.3
    so which one is latest/newer one and which one can i install along with AS 10.1.3
    Can someone guid eme please
    Thanks,
    Philip.

    Gotta love Oracle's versioning! It looks like you are getting App Server versions and portal versions confused. As I understand it, Application Server exists in the following versions:
    10.1.2.0.0
    10.1.2.0.1
    10.1.2.0.2
    10.1.2.1
    10.1.2.2
    10.1.3
    The latest version of App Server which contains portal is 10.1.2.2 which is a patchset that came out recently. Separate from all of the above, there is a portal metadata repository patch that upgrades just portal. If installed on top of App Server 10.1.2.0.2 or 10.1.2.1 (which is 10.1.2.0.0 with another patch), it upgrades portal to 10.1.4. If installed on top of AS 10.1.2.2, it upgrades portal to 10.1.4.1. Clear as can be, right?
    Bottom line -- latest greatest version of App Server and portal is App Server 10.1.2.2 with portal 10.1.4.1. AS 10.1.3 does not include portal so you would have to do a separate install of portal along side. Hope this helps and doesn't make it even more confusing!

  • Trying to identify why a client patched a day after it's scheduled time. WUA off by GPO, 2/3 patches not in sccm repository.

    Hi All,
    I have one machine in a collection 33 that apparently patched and rebooted a day after it's scheduled patch window.  This client normally patches the 3rd Sunday of every month.  I have 2 reboot task sequences to make sure the client is ready to
    receive patches and another later on after patches should have installed to insure the machine is compliant.  Both task sequences went off when they were supposed to, but yesterday the server (w2k8 r2 standard) patched 3 updates and rebooted.  Automatic
    updates is disabled by GPO.  So I'm pretty sure it wasn't that.  What's vexing me is that two of the three patches are not in the sccm repository nor in the update list.  So I think I can safely say that those two didn't come from sccm
    doing it's own thing.  Least I would think at least.  I see in the windows update log the three patches and their time stamps.  What I need to be able to determine is why would sccm patch this client the following day.  Is this a wmi issue?
    Is there something in a particular log I should be looking for?
    Any direction would be great.  Thanks!
    HS

    Hi Mark,
    That crossed my mind as well.  One of the three patches was in the repository but I checked 3 times for the other two and they are not there, so it made me consider someone manually doing it.  I did check the security log, but I was finding tons
    of system account logons or other processes we have said up to log in.  I didn't find a user login.  I'm assuming based on this small snippet from the windowsupdate.log that it is config agent doing the updates. The first update I have in the repository,
    the last two are not there.  If someone can direct me to what I should be looking for that would be great.

  • OMS version 10.2.0.4.0 is not compatible with repository version 10.1.0.5.9 Repository needs to be patched.

    I received this message when attempting to restart the oms after performing:
    emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
    emca -repos recreate
    emca -config dbcontrol db
    in an effort to fix the problem:
    Getting Chrome browser error "SSL connection error" Error code: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR after upgrade
    Can you advise me as to where I may find this 10.2.0.4 patch for my repository?

    OMS is a term used with Grid Control (OMS app tier with Repository database and multiple agents).
    emca is used with DB Express on a single database instance to manage the DB Express repository info.
    They cannot be used together.
    Did you have Grid Control?:  If so, i believe you've corrupted your repository and need to restore, or contact Oracle Support.

  • Can not find solaris 64 9.0.1.5 patch for repository installation

    Hi,
    I found in oracle10gAS installation guide that I need to apply patch 9.0.1.5 or later in order to use an existing oracle 9 database for my repository. The problem is that I can not find oracle db 9.0.1.5 patch for solaris 64bit. The latest patch for solaris 64 is 9.0.1.4. Does anyone know if I can use the 9.0.1.4 patch or where I can find 9.0.1.5?
    9.0.1.5 only exists for solaris 32 versions.
    Thanks

    Hi giorgio santandrea,
    I am also facing the same error, could please tell me how you resolved that error?
    Thanks & regards,
