[Request] IBus input method framework

IBus is a new generation CJK input framework. See http://code.google.com/p/ibus/
Arch linux is a very good distribution, but the support for CJK seems not very much.
I think the good CJK environment can make more people use Arch.
This subject is under development, but until now I think it is good enough to substitute SCIM, and should be put into AUR.
Thanks for your attention.

  • Best input methods framework/platform for Korean typing?

    Hello, I am using DWM and have read the wikis for iBus, SCIM, and Fcitx, but it was hard to understand pros/cons and easy of use for each of method just by reading, so I am just looking for personal experience from those who have used one of these (preferably as many as possible) who can give me suggestions?

    When it comes to performance, you won't gain much by compiling linux by yourself! Just use the linux package from [core] or if you want a bit more performance, install the ck-kernel from
    [repo-ck]
    Server = http://repo-ck.com/$arch
    (this has to go to the bottom of /etc/pacman.conf)
    (use that one which is best for your cpu (in your case this might be the package linux-ck-corex).
    Hmmm, Linux-ck-corex doesn't even load.. I am now trying to install the generic one. Hope it works.
    Edit: I will first try linux-lqx...

  • Running City Input Method on Mac OS X

    Has anyone tried to run the City IM example (http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/guide/imf/spi-tutorial.html) on OS X? How would one bring up the "Select Input Method" menu, like that on Windows or Solaris? Can anyone tell me something about Java's Input Method Framework support in MacOS X? Thanks.

    I just learned from the source that Java Input Method Framework (IMF) is currently not supported in OS X.

  • Looking for Java Input Method implementations

    Hi,
    I have developed a Java-based research application for computational linguistics. I'm currently internationalizing this application. I'm looking for FREE implementations of the Java Input Method Framework. Could you please give me a hint?

  • Create Input Method component

    I need to make an Input Method for a language. It would function similar to that of the Kotoeri or Chinese components: namely after the inline input of some text, the desired Unicode glyph would be called. All of the references in the ADC pages presume I already have an input method, or can work with their example to make something like the Asian input methods. I do not want to start from scratch, but would ideally like to modify an existing component (swapping out existing data and dictionary entries with my own).
    Curiously, I see that there was a session at the WWDC 07 that addresses the exact issue I'm inquiring about. Is this Input Method Kit something that will be available?

    Below are critical observations that you need to be aware of:
    2. VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!! Personally, saving a file as .cin locked up my whole system, and I had to login as root in order to remove the file. I'll never do that again. Thus my note is "# INSTALLATION: save as a .inputplugin file and put ~/Library/Input Methods/
    # Once this is in the Input Methods file, you then enable the input method by going to the International keyboard
    # input module and selecting your input method just like a regular input method is selected.
    3. # If plain text, the file encoding must be Unicode (UTF-16) with or without an initial BOM (Byte Order Mark).
    I made the edits using TextWrangler (http://www.barebones.com/products/TextWrangler/). This allows you to encode in UTF-16 (at the bottom of the file).
    Also, there needs to be a mention of honor here to Tom Gewecke for his invaluable advice and support in correctly interpreting Apple's help sheet. Apple's sheet is almost correct, but the alerts above will keep you from creating a file that will crash your system like I did—twice.

  • Uim won't switch input methods[SOLVED]

    I'm probably just making a simple mistake but I'm having trouble with uim. I followed the instructions on the wiki about inputting Japanese with uim and I set mozc as the default input method. Yet when I use the keyboard shortcuts to try to switch.... Well that was weird. As I was typing this message I was suddenly given a list of Kanji to select. When I hit backspace it was gone and is now apparently not coming back. Well what I was going to say before that strange event was: I use the keyboard shortcuts but input doesn't change. Anyone have any ideas on what might be going on, what mistake I may have made?
    EDIT: You know what? Now it's working. ほらほら! Unfortunately it doesn't work in anything but my browser. Pidgin, Libre-Office, Skype... none of them want to work with it.
    EDIT 2: And now, for no reason at all, it ONLY works in Pidgin, not in anything else! Or it did until I typed this line, then I randomly started typing in 日本語 again. Then, when I closed out the preference panel, it stopped working entirely. I've got the preferences open again and it STILL won't work.
    EDIT 3: I'm just marking this as solved, I gave up and switched to ibus, it seems to work.

    Exactly which troubleshooting steps have you tried?
    Does the machine get stuck at that point or does it power off?
    Do you have the original install discs?

  • Input Methods

    Dear Developers!
    I would like to propose you to help me..
    Im writing multilingual, platform independed lingual program (editor).
    My question is:
    I use Windows XP (for example) and use Ctrl+Shift combination to switch between system input languages.
    I use the code to select appropriate Input Method in my program:
    public void switchTo(Locale locale) {
    java.awt.im.InputContext ic = this. getInputContext ();
    ic.selectInputMethod (locale);
    It works!
    So my problem is:
    I have to use combination like Ctrl+L to invoke switchTo method. But I want to use for example Ctrl+Shift.
    I have created my own languages and layouts and want my program use oly its ignoring systems one. (I implemented Java Inpt Method Framework interfaces like: java.awt.im.spi.InputMethodDescriptor, java.awt.im.spi.InputMethod
    How override Ctrl+Shift combination to switch between my extended languages (Input Methods) ? I dont want my program react to standard language switching and use standard Input Method. When I press ctrl+shift I want to switch only between extended languages. Standard language switching should be suppressed absolutely (ignoring).
    Now if I use, for example, my English (extended input method) language, and press ctr+shift I switch to another language that, may be is typing incorrect way (double letters and so on).

  • When will you support T9 input method for Chinese?

    It's been iOS 5.0.1 already. But you still don't think for Chinese. You are really happy watching us strive in typing chinese with a full keyboard? I know you don't know Chinese. But please ask your chinese customers if they are happy with your input method. Nowadays Baidu and Sogou and many other companies have developed very good input method, but you don't support. I can understand you don't open your system. but please at least let Chinese get what they deserved with so high price!

  • About the Solaris Express 4/6 - Chinese Input Method

    I worked on Solaris 10 has long time, I write some articles or reports using StarOffice. In that time , the Chinese input methon has the Sun NewChuYin Input-method , I am very used to the input method. But when I upgrade the OS to Solaris Express 4/6. The input method has insteaded of iiimf. Because my work environment is zh_TW.Big5, I can't use "chewing". Now I feel difficultly in working.
    I hope Sun can keep past input-methods and then add some new input methods.
    Or can Sun tell me , where is the old input-methods package on Solaris 10 1/6 CD-Rom and its' name? I want to find it and override the package in Solaris Express 4/6.

  • Clearing values from request in decode method

    I am using a custom table paginator. In its ‘decode’ method I have the next code to control whether ‘next’ link is clicked:
    String pLink = (String)requestMap.get("pLink" + clientId);
    if ((pLink != null) && (!pLink.equals(""))) {
         if (pLink.equals("next")) {
         } else if (pLink.equals("previous")) {
    }But the next sequence produces some problems:
    1.     Initial page load.
    2.     Click on ‘next’ link.
    3.     Table navigates ok to next page.
    4.     Reload page (push F5).
    5.     The previous click still remains in the request, so decode method think ‘next’ link is pressed again.
    6.     Application abnormal behaviour arises.
    So, I am trying to clear the ‘next_link’ key from the request, but next code throws an UnsupportedOperationException:
    String pLink = (String)requestMap.get("pLink" + clientId);
    if ((pLink != null) && (!pLink.equals(""))) {
         if (pLink.equals("next")) {
         } else if (pLink.equals("previous")) {
         requestMap.put("pLink" + clientId, "");
    }Do any of you have some ideas?

  • On iOS7, Korean Language Input Method with serious error.

    Korean Input Method for iOS7 has serious problems with bluetooth keyboard.
    It has absolutely incorrect state transition for the keyboard typings.
    Keyboard input and cursor moving are independently acting.
    On the word processing apps, when the line changing occurs while typing, error comes on the first word.
    It looks like to have very poor performance while typing.
    clearing last status of input and transiting to a new state to a new word-syllable are not working properly.
    Input method on iOS5 is much stable and better than on iOS7.
    iOS7 Korean Input Method really makes me annoying.

  • PO creation using LSMW through batch input method

    Hi, I am new to working with LSMW and i have completed a project for creating purchase orders using the direct data input method. I need to do the same using batch input method, however in the maintain structure relationship step, it is only allowing me to assign one structure to the recording that i have done, however in po creation we need separate (nested) structure for header and line item, could anybody help me past this please?

    Hi Rudra!
    OK, now you just know, why you have only one line, not multiple PO item lines. To get a dynamic number of items, you need a complex program - just like standard direct input.
    If you need a field, which is not part of this program, don't try to write your own program for batch input - it's just to much work before you have a good result.
    You can use Bapi method instead with BAPI_PO_CREATE1. This can handle a lot of fields and there is some documentation available how to fill the Bapi.
    If this looks to complicated in the first moment, think about creation of POs via direct input and a small batch recording to change your additional field(s) afterwards. (You can select EKPO table to generate list of 'wrong' migrated orders for input in LSMW.) Use field 'Item' in the bottom of ME22 to position your desired line in first screen line, just change one PO-line after one other (every time a 'save' -> no problem with different number of lines / PO).

    Christian
