Required Overlapping VS Continuos Flow Production

Hi SAP Experts,
I have a few questions regarding the overlapping indicator in routing as below:
1. What is the difference between "Required Overlapping" & "Continous Flow Production" indicator in routing? I have tested with both indicator but still cannot see the logic behind on how APO scheduled the orders based on these indicators.
2. Is it a must to maintain both "overlap time" & "Send ahead quantity" in the routing if I select either "Required Overlapping" or "Continous Flow Production"? Or, I can just maintain either of them?
3. If my planned order's quantity is less than the send ahead quantity set in the routing, there will be a gap between 0010 Produce End Time with 0020 Setup Start Time. Is this a APO standard behavior?
4. Refer to question (2), if the answer is yes, is there any way so that the APO will schedule the operation back to back if the planned order quantity is less than the send ahead quantity without any gap in between?
Thanks.

Hooi Chia

Hi Santosh.A,
Yes, overlaps in routing is integrated with APO. The changes on overlap indicator in ECC routing is reflecting in APO PDS. I have tested the overlap scenarios for both "Required Overlapping" & "Continous Production Flow" and both are working in APO. But, I do not understand the difference of these 2 indicator. Moreover, there is a gap between my 1st operation Produce End Time & 2nd operation setup start time if my order quantity is less than the send ahead quantity set in the routing.
Please help to clear my doubts.
Below are the examples of scheduling result for overlapping, overlapping set at operation 0010:

  • Error in schedulinq parallel sequences with flow production operations

    We have a routing with a standard sequence with operations in wich we have set "Continuous flow prod"
    and "Min. Send-Ahead Qty=1".
    We have a parallel sequence as well with operations set in the same way "Continuous flow prod"
    and "Min. Send-Ahead Qty=1".
    When you run the transaction "MD11" to create a planned order for the item the scheduling of the operations is correct
    as regard the standard sequence, the system, correctly,  schedules the operations overlapping
    them according to lead time set in the operation details.
    But the last operation of the parallel sequence is scheduled to finish the whole lot before the operation
    following the "return operation" . The system doesn't overlap this operation. In this way the
    last item of the last operation (in the parallel sequence) isn't finished at the same time
    with the last item of the "return operation" (in the standard sequence) as we like it would be.
    We have set "Backwards scheduling" type on customizing and we use the "Alignment key= 2 "
    for standard sequence and in the parallel as well. We have also tryed to set "Alignment key= 1"
    in the parallel sequence but the results are howewer not correct.
    In conclusion the schedulation of  continuous flow production operations
    doesn't work properly between operations belonging to parallel sequences.
    Could you suggest me what to do?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
      I tried with 5 ops 10, 20, 30 ,40,50 ( same work center  wc1)
      Set up time 1, Process time 1min for 1 pc
      set the continuous flow prodn i at op 20 with min send ahead qty 1
      Also a parallel seq was created with 3 ops op20 ,30 , 40 .
      set up time was 2 min for all work centers( same work center wc2) and proc time
      time is 1 min for  1 pc
      In that set the  continuous flow prodn at op 20 with min send ahead qty 1
      sceduling type was forward
    .Alignment key was 2 for both std seq and parallel seq .
      After scheduling found that op 20 in std seq starts at 6.14am and op 40 ends
      at 6.47 am where as in parallel seq op 20 starts at 6.11 am and op 40 ends at
      at 6.47 am which is correct.( branch op is 20 and return op is  40)
      The three minutes late start in op 20 of std seq  is due to 3 minutes extra time
      defined for three  work centers setup time.
      I also tried with alignment key 1in both std seq and parellel seq.
    Kindly check that you have maintained the continous flow prodn radio button
    in the same operation in both std seq and parallel seq.

  • No of operations in routing &Overlapping not reflection in Production order

    Greeting for all gurus.
    Process
    We have three set of operations , one will be blend, , other will be cured and the third will be finished goods.
    Basically one FG and three components , the components will be consumed in the first process. The same  FG materials will be used for the 2nd / 3 rd Process
    ,1)  we want to confirm the first set by making auto GR/GI
    2) The Overlapping is 8 weeks , the 2nd operation should start , after that and the third operation should wait for 6 days . 2ND  operation  is confirmation only.
    3) The third will be for standard process, Only GR
    We have to use the same materials . Say 1st process O/P will be 50,000 and second process will be 40,000 and third will be 30,000. We want to account the loss in between the 1st and 3rd operation . 2 nd operation , no need to record .
    Requirements  - Discrete Manufacturing
    u2022     How to set the control key for three operations.
    u2022     How to confirm every stage in a single production order.
    u2022     How to  consider all the operation days in the Production order
    u2022     How to report loss in various stages
    u2022     How to print all the operation at various stages in the shop floor
    Any help will be highly appreciated
    Thanks
    JJ

    Thank you very much
    As you use single production order, input the overlapping time in routing in "Min Overlapping time" = 8 weeks (in no. of working days) for the first operation and 6 days for the second operation after selecting "Required Overlapping". ( If you mean it as wait time, you can control the same with the wait time in work center).
        ----I already set it , but it is not considering the days , it took only the base qty and no of hrs calculation
    in the prod order ,Our base qty and hrs will set for two hrs only . the remaining 6 weeks is not consider -
    With Single Production order, you cannot do goods receipt after the first operation. Since 2nd and 3rd operation are pending, why do you want to do goods receipt at this stage?
    ----- We want to account the loss , as it will be loosing pounds at various stage -
    Carry out confirmation for the sequence of operations in CO11N with the yield qty and use reason for variance as the loss of qty. Using confirmation tables, create z-report to know the actual qty after the last operation. ..
    --- Where to set the sequence of operation - i am getting error , No zero sequence ---
    I want the system to consider the 7 weeks for this production time. How to do this ?
    You can print the operations from pull-down menu in CO02 - order - settings - List control - Op. control ticket

  • Webapp (requires payment) creating multiple/duplicate products

    Each time someone submits a new Webapp that requires payment, a new Ecommerce product is created.  Is there a way to have the Webapp use the same product?  I also have an online shop, and it's making the product management overwhelming.

    I have tested all sorts workarounds for this problem. My situation was that we had a single payment webform set up and we were using this same form to accept payment for multiple events (the web form HTML code was inserted into the event detail and used to submit the event booking).
    Here's what was happening:
    A product was automatically created by Business Catalyst. Product code is the WebFormID of the webform used to submit the order. Product name is a concatenation of {web form name}/{event name}
    An order was created in the CRM referencing the new product.
    BC will create a new product when an order is placed unless the combination of Product Code + Product Name already exists. This is patently stupid since the Product Code is the primary key here. In fact, BC even warns you that this is bad as soon as you view the product page in admin.
    I searched everywhere I could think of to find a way to tell the web form which product to use when creating the order. No joy. There does not seem to be a way to override the automatic creation algorithm. I posted a question about this in the forum here and never got a response.
    As Shannon points out, these ARE real products as far as the database, OneSaas etc are concerned. We use OneSaas to synchronise to Saasu and this synchronisation process repeatedly failed due to missing product codes in Saasu (which is the product master by the way).
    So, the only solution I could find was to duplicate our payment WebForm so that there is a unique and distinct form for every event our customers could purchase. I then modified each event so that it used the corresponding WebFormID of it's dedicated WebForm in the action URL query parameters. I didn't need to modify anything else in the event (since every webform is exactly the same - the HTML is identical. Hooray for code re-use ... NOT!).
    In Saasu, I then create an Item to represent each event booking using the WebFormID as the Item code. There's no need to run around and create the products on BC. It will create diabolical looking product names using the WebFormID and if you create these manually you NEED to make sure that the name you enter is EXACTLY as BC will create it ... or you'll get a duplicate product ... again.
    OneSaas now works correctly as we have it set up to pull in products from Saasu. It can pick up the new orders and relate these to Saasu products/items and then sync the invoices to Saasu.
    Problems With This Approach
    Your WebForm code is duplicated across multiple events. If you want to, say, change the payment methods that you accept you'll need to change each and every webform as well as modify the HTML code in the event.
    You get a unique product for every event that you offer. This may not be what you want (my client didn't). At least it will synchronise.
    You MUST remember to create products in Saasu any time you offer a new event. At least you can use a sensible Item name in Saaus (rather than the auto-created BC garbage) as matching is only done on the code.
    If you have an external process that extracts Items from Saasu so that you can create matching products in BC you'll need to be careful not to overwrite the product names for your webform related products. Or you'll get a duplicate product created on the next order.
    If anyone has a better approach I'd be happy to hear it.

  • An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Plea

    I am getting the following error each time I open Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional...
    "An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application."
    I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the program. It didn't help, got the same error shortly after opening the program.
    What is strange is that the problem just suddenly appeared therefore, I believe that it may have been malware related causing this problem. And I have had this program and have been using it without any problems now for over 3 years.
    It appears that a vital part of the program is being blocked.
    Can anyone please help and offer a detailed solution to this problem? Maybe someone has already encountered it.
    Thank you!
    -Dan Sacapano

    Anoop,
    Upon re-reading that information, I am curious as to why your believe that this will solve my issue. That is not related to my error message: "An error has been detected with a required application library and the product cannot continue. Please reinstall the application."
    I have not received any such message as the one seen on that page.
    Please explain why I wouldn't have gotten that partcular message and instead got the one I quoted above?
    Thank you,

  • Few questions regarding requirements in context of SAP products

    Hello!
    I have few questions regarding Relational Database, Network Archtecture and Platform Support requirements in context of SAP products. Can someone help by answering the questions, if possible with Yes/No (and short explanation)
    a) Does your system run native to the Oracle 10g RDBMS (RAC) and database tools? If not, please explain the databases and tools supported (Yes/No)
    b) database accept binary-large-objects (BLOBs) and be referenced via the relational engine (Yes/No)
    c) standard pre-defined SQL queries and related calculations provided for use with industry standard reporting tools
    d) Deployable without using any fixed IP addresses (taking advantage of DHCP address resolution) (Yes/No)
    d)software supported on HP-UX 11.i V2 (r6) on Itanium. (Yes/No)
    e) Software supported on OS clustered servers (If mutliple products, please indicate if all are support or list areas where clustering may not be recommended and why) (Yes/No)
    Thank you!

  • Help required in understanding the flow of control in working with EJB 3.0

    *1. Can anyone help me in understanding the flow after getting an object of InitialContext in using Stateless/Stateful in EJB 3.0 from client i.e. what we are getting in the step Object ref=jndiContext.lookup("CalculateBean/Remote) .*
    *2. What is the use of INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY*
    *3. PROVIDER_URL*
    *4. Java.naimg.factory.url.pkgs*
    *5. why org.jboss.naming and org.jnp.interfaces separated by semi colon.*
    *6. Why we dont require INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, PROVIDER_URL and Java.naming.factory.url.pkgs if the client is a web client.*
    Properties p=new Properties();
              p.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory");
              p.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"jnp://localhost:1099");
              p.put("java.naming.factory.url.pkgs","org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces");
              Context jndiContext = new InitialContext(p);
         Object ref = jndiContext.lookup("CalculateBean/Remote");
    Calculate c = (Calculate)ref;
    int sum=c.add(3,4);
    System.out.println(sum);
    Thanx in advance........

    Annotations can also be processed at run time using the core reflection API (java.lang.Class & java.lang.reflect.*), so you might want to explore down that path. I have no idea how JBoss actually does it, but annotation processing at build time and core reflection at runtime are the two most obvious possibilities.

  • Requirement strategy : PIR reduction with Production Order GR

    Hello,
    I'd like to manage in APO a requirement strategy reduced by Goods receipts of production order.
    I'v tried to manage a specific strategy but I don't know wich Category Group setted in the customizing.
    Could you help to:
    - first confirm that we could reduce the PIR with GR from a production order?
    - Then which category or category group should I select ?
    thank you for your help
    Renaud

    Hi Renaud,
    Below you have the strategies that are supported by APO. For your requirement you have to create a new strategy in APO that support your needs. The steps are described in my first replay. I don't think that you will find exactly the same logic that you have in ECC but something similar yes. In APO we can't do moving type!
    For example you can modify strategy 10 and change the category group to FP1 (production fixed). So, it's clear that you will have in stock the quantity of the confirmed pl.order!
    Thanks, Marius

  • Required suggestion on BPEL Flows Logging

    Hi,
    i am working on a BPEL Project.I need some suggestion on logging part of the BPEL flows. As per the requirement, we have to configure transaction logging and error logging for every partner link call.
    I found some possible ways of logging:
    1. log the error datails or transaction details to a Database Table.
    (I found one drawback of this as, if the DataBase goes down this logging fails..)
    2. log the error datails or transaction details to a file using File Adapter.
    3. send some notifications in case of error.
    in the above cases 1 & 2, i have to use adapters to log the data.again some kind of webservice call.
    The other option i thought of is :
    Configure the log4j.xml and try to log the error logs and trabsaction logs though java code in the Java Embedding. In this case all the logs will be logged in to a specified place of a server.
    Dear experts,
    i hope you got my requirement.
    please suggest me the best way (if you find any other) and provide me some inputs to do that.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Chandra

    Have you considered using Oracle BAM for this? You can put BAM sensors on each partner link invoke fairly easily too....

  • Transfer of requirements from sales order to production.

    hi
    how are the requirements transfered from sales order to MRP.
    if a sales order is created how is the reqirement getting tranfered to MD04.
    is it through requirement class and requirement type.

    Hi Friend,
    Basically the requirements are transfered based on the requirement types
    Priority 1: Strategy group...Every strategy group is assigned with reqt type...depending on the strategy selected the assigned Requirement type is triggered and it will behave as per the configuration.
    if Strategy group is not mentioned in material master then it will pick the requirement type which is assigned to Item Category group in sales Org 2 of material master.
    if Item category group is not mentioned then it will look for MRP group.
    Thanks

  • Are unique GUIDs required in the data flow task in SSIS?

    Hi,
    I have previously used SQL server 2008R2 to develop packages.  I was told not to copy and paste packages, or create templates with tasks on the data flow because this leads to multiple packages with the same GUID, the consequence of this might be calamitous
    problems at runtime when the engine can't distinguish between tasks in different packages.
    My process was to create templates with Control flow tasks only, manually create the dataflow tasks and then use bids helper from codeplex to regenerate GUIDs (this regenerated the GUIDs at the control flow level only).
    I am now using SQL 2012. I have looked and seen that if I copy and paste a package the GUIDs at the data flow level are also copied.  So my questions are:
    1) Does having the same ID in different dataflows cause problems as I was led to believe?
    2) If it does has this been addressed in some way in SSIS 2012? and what is the best way of working around this given I have many similar packages to develop?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    SSIS doesn't really lend itself well to creating templates.
    SQL 2012 is much improved when it comes to copy and pasting tasks, dataflows and transformations between package designs, other than the usual issues with missing connection managers.

  • Is SWCV required to be present in production SLD? Debate

    I have DEV and QA XI systems pointing to one SLD and Production XI is on another SLD. I created Product and Software Component Version in DEV SLD and developed my scenario. After transporting to QA and subsequently to Production, the scenario runs fine despite the SWCV not being moved from DEV SLD to Prod SLD. So it appears there is no reference to the SWCV from SLD after the design is done the first time and transported completely (including the SWCV from Repository not SLD).
    Is this how it is supposed to work and what is the need to maintain SWCV's in production SLD if they are not referenced at runtime.

    I think this is possible if you scenario used business service, rather than using Business Systems maitained in SLD, not clear with your situation.
    Your SWCVs in PRD are orphaned, I had similar experience that I have particular SWCV used for my mapping test, however, one day when i checked SLD, I found that the SWCV is missing from SLD.
    Someone else has deleted it. but I did not come up complete scenario to test.
    I also imported SWCV from one system to another one which does not have corresponding SWCV maitained in SLD, import is success, no error reported.
    Nice to see you raise the question, I do not have definite answer either. To see what other expert respond.
