Required Overlapping : Urgen0

Hi all ,
i have three operations in Routing as follows :
OPR  : 0010  Work center : Manual1
SETUP time    : 0 min
Machine TIME : 0 min
Labour Time    : 600 min
OPR  : 0020  Work center : Mach1
SETUP time    : 0 min
Machine TIME : 600 min
Labour Time    : 0 min
OPR  : 0030  Work center : Manual2
SETUP time    : 0 min
Machine TIME : 0 min
Labour Time    : 600 min
In CA02 Forward scheduling : Results are as follows :
OPR 10 : 09.06.2008 09:30:00  10.06.2008 11:30:00
OPR 20 : 09.06.2008 09:30:00  10.06.2008 11:30:00
OPR 30 : 09.06.2008 09:30:00  11.06.2008 13:30:00
All Operation have Required Overlapping Indicator , my query why the OPR 30 is finishing on date  11.06.2008 time  13:30:00 when the Total time for OPR 30 is 600 min ?
Pl Guide on the same .

Hi venky,
OPR 30 : 09.06.2008 09:30:00 11.06.2008 13:30:00 - why the OPR 30 is finishing on date 11.06.2008 time 13:30:00
Please check  below poinst with workcenter  Manual2 .
Check with efficiency rate for standard value key.
Excute the Test formula at scehduling tab  with same OP qty & OP time maintained at Routing and see the results.
I hope the problem is due to workcenter.
Please check and comeback

  • Required Overlapping VS Continuos Flow Production

    Hi SAP Experts,
I have a few questions regarding the overlapping indicator in routing as below:
    1. What is the difference between "Required Overlapping" & "Continous Flow Production" indicator in routing? I have tested with both indicator but still cannot see the logic behind on how APO scheduled the orders based on these indicators.
    2. Is it a must to maintain both "overlap time" & "Send ahead quantity" in the routing if I select either "Required Overlapping" or "Continous Flow Production"? Or, I can just maintain either of them?
    3. If my planned order's quantity is less than the send ahead quantity set in the routing, there will be a gap between 0010 Produce End Time with 0020 Setup Start Time. Is this a APO standard behavior?
    4. Refer to question (2), if the answer is yes, is there any way so that the APO will schedule the operation back to back if the planned order quantity is less than the send ahead quantity without any gap in between?
    Thanks.

    Hi Santosh.A,
Yes, overlaps in routing is integrated with APO. The changes on overlap indicator in ECC routing is reflecting in APO PDS. I have tested the overlap scenarios for both "Required Overlapping" & "Continous Production Flow" and both are working in APO. But, I do not understand the difference of these 2 indicator. Moreover, there is a gap between my 1st operation Produce End Time & 2nd operation setup start time if my order quantity is less than the send ahead quantity set in the routing.
Please help to clear my doubts.

  • Scheduling time not coming as required

    Hello All
I have an FG whose routing contains two operations, whose time are as under:
    Optn       Base Qty       Processing time
    0010       1EA               20 MIN
    0020       1EA               15 MIN
As per my calculation the sys shall wind up the order of 2EA in 55MIN, but when am making an order of 2EA sys schedule it for 70MIN. System gives the operatino start time of 0020 operation after 40MIN have elapsed whereas this operation shall start only after 20MIN.
Looking forward to your valuable inputs to resolve the issue.
    Regards,
    J K Tharwani

    Hi,
For this you need maintain overlapping in operation details of routing,
first goto operation details of operation 0010 - Maintain overlapping, i.e, select required overlapping, minimum overlapping time: 20 min, Minimum send ahead quantity as 1 EA.
if you do like this then system will schedule like this
0010, 1EA, 20 MIN HERE You Have 2 No's. After producing first component it will be sent to 0020 operation immediatley.
    0020, 1EA, 15 MIN.
So first product after completing 0010 operatioon in 20 Min it will comes to operation 0020 and completes in 15 Min, so total time for first product is 35 Min.
Next Second productwill comes to operation 0010 immideatley after completing first product operation 0010 and again second product will comes to operration 0020 immediatley after completing first product operation 0020.
eg: at 10 AM we start.
Operation 0010 Product 1 Start Time : 10:00  AM  End Time :10.20 AM
    Operation 0020 Product 1 Start Time : 10:20 AM  End time:10:35 AM
Operation 0010 Product 2 Start Time : 10:20  AM  End Time :10.40 AM
    Operation 0020 Product 2 Start Time : 10:40 AM  End time:10:55 AM
    In this way system schedules.

  • Overlapping

I have two operations in routing
    10 with labour time - 3 days
    20 with  labour time - 4 days
Option- required overlapping is maintained in 10 with min overlapp time of 1 day .
Then after forward scheduling iam getting following start dates.
    operation 10 -- 19.02.2009
    operation 20-- 19.02.2009
But why it is not considering min. overlap time and give start date of 20.02.2009 after considering min overlapp time of 1 day .
I dont want to maintain any Minimum Send-Ahead quantity

    Hi Mayuresh,
Since you have not maintained any Min. send ahead qty the system has proposed the date as 1st operation. Read below the conditions for overlap & it should answer your query.
    Conditions for Overlaps
During scheduling the system determines from the minimum send-ahead quantity and the minimum overlap time.
    Whether the operations can overlap
An overlap is only permissible, if the time the operations overlap is larger than the  minimum overlap time.
When is the start date of the following operation
If operations overlap, the next operation can start when the minimum send-ahead quantity has been produced. If a move is necessary, this is taken into account with the minimum move time.
The following operation is scheduled so that no interruptions occur.
    Hope the above helps.

    Vivek

  • 'Overlapping' parameters in R/3 routings passed to APO PDSs

    I am using APO V7.O connected to R/3 4.7.
In R/3 I have a routing in which I have specified 'required overlapping' and 'min overlap = 0' so that effectively I have parallel operations.
But this overlapping information does not seem to get passed to the APO PDS, where the operations are scheduled in series.
    Is this the expected behaviour?
Thanks for any help on this...

    Hi GroupAPO,
I think to have parallel operations you should have overlap greater than zero.
Which PDS you are talking about? SNP or PPDS. As parallel operations are not supported in SNP. Read SAP note 1079959.

  • PPDS - Overlapping Operations ( Start- Start) activity relationship

    Hi Experts,
We are having two operations 010 and 020 in a routing and we want to schedule both the operations at the same time and not in sequence. I believe that we can use the "required overlap functionality" in the routings for the parallel scheduling of the two operations.
After setting the overlap functionality when I trying to run SAP_PP_002 the operations in the PPDS order are being scheduled in sequence. In addition, the PPDS PDS also shows an End- start in the activity relationship (I don't know if this makes any difference)
Could one of the experts please let me know what are the settings in PPDS that you used to run the two sequential operations in parallel in APO?
    Thanks in advance

    Hii,
You can use Parallel sequence of  operations in the routing to make the activity in PDS/PPM as start to start  relationship. And PPDS heuristic will consider the same ..

  • No of operations in routing &Overlapping not reflection in Production order

    Greeting for all gurus.
    Process
We have three set of operations , one will be blend, , other will be cured and the third will be finished goods.
Basically one FG and three components , the components will be consumed in the first process. The same  FG materials will be used for the 2nd / 3 rd Process
,1)  we want to confirm the first set by making auto GR/GI
    2) The Overlapping is 8 weeks , the 2nd operation should start , after that and the third operation should wait for 6 days . 2ND  operation  is confirmation only.
    3) The third will be for standard process, Only GR
We have to use the same materials . Say 1st process O/P will be 50,000 and second process will be 40,000 and third will be 30,000. We want to account the loss in between the 1st and 3rd operation . 2 nd operation , no need to record .
    Requirements  - Discrete Manufacturing
u2022     How to set the control key for three operations.
u2022     How to confirm every stage in a single production order.
u2022     How to  consider all the operation days in the Production order
u2022     How to report loss in various stages
u2022     How to print all the operation at various stages in the shop floor
Any help will be highly appreciated
    Thanks
    JJ

    Thank you very much
As you use single production order, input the overlapping time in routing in "Min Overlapping time" = 8 weeks (in no. of working days) for the first operation and 6 days for the second operation after selecting "Required Overlapping". ( If you mean it as wait time, you can control the same with the wait time in work center).
----I already set it , but it is not considering the days , it took only the base qty and no of hrs calculation
in the prod order ,Our base qty and hrs will set for two hrs only . the remaining 6 weeks is not consider -
With Single Production order, you cannot do goods receipt after the first operation. Since 2nd and 3rd operation are pending, why do you want to do goods receipt at this stage?
----- We want to account the loss , as it will be loosing pounds at various stage -
Carry out confirmation for the sequence of operations in CO11N with the yield qty and use reason for variance as the loss of qty. Using confirmation tables, create z-report to know the actual qty after the last operation. ..
--- Where to set the sequence of operation - i am getting error , No zero sequence ---
I want the system to consider the 7 weeks for this production time. How to do this ?
You can print the operations from pull-down menu in CO02 - order - settings - List control - Op. control ticket

  • Overlapping and splitting in routing master.

    Hi...
I'm setting the PP routing master and using the capacity requirement planning.
Do you have any definition or document about the overlapping and splitting in routing master ?
In part of overlapping. There are the options
    - Required overlapping, Optional overlapping, Continuous flow prod
Could you please explain how does the system calculate the lead time in production when I use the different option together with Min.overlap time or Min. send-ahead qty ?

  • Overlapping and splitting

    Dear All,
What is Overlapping and splitting, where do i  assign?

    Now
    Splitting
An operation is split if it is carried out on several machines or by several persons at the same time (see figure).
Splitting an operation has the following effects on the operation dates:
The processing time/execution time becomes shorter.
Setup and teardown must be carried out more than once for the operation
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/HELPDATA/EN/7e/d419b7455911d189400000e8323c4f/frameset.htm
    Overlapping
To reduce the lead time of a routing or production order you can overlap operations. This means that an operation starts before the previous operation has finished
You can define for each individual operation whether it should overlap with the next consecutive operation and in what way. To do this you can set the following indicators:
    Required overlapping
This means the operations always overlap
    Optional overlapping
This means the operations overlap if scheduling uses a reduction level that allows overlapping
    Flow manufacturing
This means the system extends the lead time of all operations, that overlap using flow manufacturing, to the same length as the lead time of the longest of these operations. As with required overlapping, the operations always overlap.
For every type of overlapping you can
Define a minimum overlap time which only allows overlapping after a particular minimum limit has been reached.
Define a minimum send-ahead quantity to ensure that the operation is performed for a particular minimum quantity of the material to be produced, before the next operation starts.

  • Overlapping  defaults

    hi,everybody.
the overlapping in operations of routing,we have 4 options -
    a) Required Overlapping
    b) Optional Overlapping
    c) Continous Production Flow
    d) No overlapping
By default, setting is "No overlapping".
Now ,I want to change the default setting to  "Continous Production Flow",I don't know how to set the default.
    Please help!

    Hi,
Check up with the below for your requirement:
In OP5D t-code, select "operation screens" related to PP where you have your standard settings. Here "No Overlapping" is maintained as input, now "hide" the same. Add a new selection from the pull down "Other selection" and add "Continuous flow Production" as input and field name as "PLPOD-FLIES" and "Transport".
      Hope this helps..

  • Min. Overlap time in routing

    Dear PPs,
I input Min. Overlap time 60 Min in routing with "required overlapping", there are three operation as following, just ignore wait, queue and move time. Processing time is 60 min/pc in each operation. I create a production order with qty 3 PC.
    The order schedules as below:
               Start    End
    0010   19:00   22:00
    0020   19:00   22:00
    0030   19:00   22:00
I just doubt why there are the same scheduling for each operations, and no overlapping function by using field"Min. Overlap time ", and i do successfully with field "Min. send-ahead qty", can anybody tell me about this?
    Thanks.

    Dear,
You select overlap indicator radio button as Required Overlapping & enter minimum overlap time and minimum send-ahead quantity on the operation details screen.
Minimum overlap time means  opertion 10 and 20 are there so if you maintain minimum overlap time  say 10 min then operation 20 will start after after 10 min of opertion10
Send-ahead quantity Minimum quantity that must be sent ahead to the next operation when operations overlap.
    Example:-
1)Double click operation 10 & select Required overlapping.
    2. Enter the minimum overlapping time. For Eg: 10 min. Then if operation 10 start at 6.00 am, operation 20 will start at 6.10 am.
    or
    3. Enter min. send ahead qty.
    Hope clear to you.

  • Operation overlapping

The operation with std values set up and machine time are getting overlapped on the previous operation.
But the operation with std value key teardown time only is not getting overlapped to the previous operation.
settings on operation overview, for all the operations is,
                 required overlapping - checked
                 Min. Send-Ahead Qty - 100 ea

    Hi,
Logically the system behavior seems to be right to me.
Overlapping is for component level activities e.g machining.
When few components of the lot have undergone the activity, you send them ahead to
effectively reduce the lead time for production. But setup and tear down are lot level activities.
That is they are done, once per lot (typically).  When it is not a component level activity, how can you have
overlapping and send ahead items. it doesnt make sense to say that 100 nos are being  sent ahead since teardown has been completed on only 100 nos right?? because teardown is a wrok center activity and not a component activity.
Besides teardown should be the end of an operaition or beginning of the next operation, why do you want to have an operation as only teardown. I am only thinking aloud, please correct me if i am wrong.
    regards,
    Ashok

  • CTM PDS with Overlapping operations

    Hello APO Guru's,
Has anybody come across on creation of CTM PDS with overlapping operations?
We have a requirement where we have 5 operations/phases in our Master Recipe and have defined a Start-Start relationship between operations, with an offset.
We have activated an BADi /SAPAPO/CURTO_CREATE, to create a CTM PDS while CIFing PPDS PDS. CTM PDS gets created but without any activities.
Could anyone provide any insights on how to handle this situation?
    With Regards,
    Mangesh

    Hi Mangesh,
Where you able to find solution to your problem. Following is the issue that I am facing

  • Why can't you trim or merge (pathfinder) a gradient?

Whenever I try to trim or merge a gradient it only divides it, but when it's solid it works. Why? I'm trying to trim/merge some artwork with a lot of gradients and it's making it impossible. If anyone knows of a way to do this with gradients please let me know. Here is an image of what I'm talking about showing it working with solids, but not gradients.
    <a href='http://postimg.org/image/6oew6ezdr/' target='_blank'><img src='http://s11.postimg.org/6oew6ezdr/trim.jpg' border='0' alt="trim" /></a>

Yes I mean why can't you trim or merge a gradient object (not mesh gradient) like a solid object? Both are objects and both get split in some way without effecting the gradient itself (besides splitting the object of course). So why is it that it only allows gradient objects to basically be divided only, but not merged or trimmed.  It seems like it should work, but for some reason is treats solid objects as solid objects and gradients objects as solid objects with overprint fill applied. I really wish Adobe would address this as it doesn't make sense to clip out the gradient area if the gradient isn't required to change. What's the point of having the trim or merge if it only divides it? What's the point of leaving objects underneath the gradient? It just seems to defeat the purpose of both operations.
For anyone else following this thread the way to workaround this is by copying each gradient, pasting behind (ctrl+b) and then changing it to a solid color that is not in the design. Once you trim or merge you can select same fill color to delete the solid color from underneath and then you are just left with the gradient properly trim/merged. The bad news is this is super time intensive if you have 100s of gradients on multiple different levels as paste behind pastes only directly behind the object you had selected, so if your order is not perfect some objects will actually paste in front which you don't want.
Alternatively you could trim or merge everything and then select same fill color and then reunite each gradient, but that changes the gradient position itself so you'll have to reapply the correct angle, etc to each gradient which again is time consuming.
For all those wondering why do I need to be able to do this. I work with spot colors which have to be trapped correctly with gradients. This requires overlapping gradients and doing overprint fills to make sure they blend properly. If I trim/merge the gradient objects if puts lines through the gradient that shows up in print and makes it more difficult to apply the underlaying color correctly.

  • Scheduling of Parallel Sequence in Routing & Production Order

    Hello Friends,
I have gone through sap library & many other threads related to maintaining & scheduling of parallel sequence in Routing as well as Production Order.
    For the example, I have 3 operations : 0010,0020 & 0030.
I want to maintain 0020 & 0030 as Parallel Operations ( Parallel Sequence) i.e. for both operations I have maintained same lead times so that both should start & end at same time parallely.
First of all, I have maintained all operations in standard sequence 0 all 0010,0020 & 0030 operations and also maintained tick in Required splitting check box.
Same way , I have maintained operations 0020 & 0030 in Parallel sequence with branching operation as 0020 & Return operation as 0030. Ref. sequence i have maintained as 0 (Std. Sequence).
Now when I am checking in Graphic it is not showing both operation 0020 & 0030 as parallely scheduled and hence same is not reflected in Production ORder as well.
Kindly share your valuable views reg. what may be other settings for parallel sequence which I may be missing.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Tejas

    Hi Abhijt,
Thanks for your reply. I went through your thread & I followed same steps as mentioned by you in your suggested threads.
I have removed Parallel sequence fully & maintained Required Overlapping for all my 3 operations : 0010,0020 & 0030
I have maintained workcenters as below :
    0010 A  Set up 2.0 Hrs   Machine 5.0 Hrs   Labour 1.0 Hr
    0020 B  Set up 2.0 Hrs   Machine 5.0 Hrs   Labour 1.0 Hr
    0030 A  Set up 2.0 Hrs   Machine 5.0 Hrs   Labour 1.0 Hr
I checked scheduling in routing itself same way you suggested with start date today's date & forward scheduling it gives following results :
    0010 start time 07:00:00
    0020 start time 07:13:42
    0030 start time 09:14:39
My concern is with mainly start time of operations 0010 & 0020 since for both of these are processed on different workcenters A & B respectively then why not starting exactly on same time on 07:00:00 AM only instead another operation is starting on 07:13:42AM. I am unable to find how this difference of 13mins 42 seconds is coming.
Kindly provide your feedback. Also let me know if you need any more details.

    Tejas
