Requirements grouping across several projects

Hi,
We have a case where raw material requirements across several projects , have to be grouped together and MRP has to be run for genarating PRs.
1. What are the transactional steps involved?(A brief desc would do)
2. What are the config steps involved ? ( a brief desc would do)
3. Does someone has an example in the form of business process procedure ? Can it be shared with me (email ID : [email protected])
4. Which MRP needs to be run ? (PP-MRP / MM-MRP)

I have selected automatic grouping and grouping wbs is set to 2 in prj A1.
I have selected automatic grouping and grouping wbs is set to 2 in prj A2.
I have created a grouping wbs with automatic grouping and grouping wbs is set to 2 in prj-A
I have been able to assign the wbss to grouping wbs using GRM3.
When I run MD51 , it says " no elements exist for this selection" and "no reservations relevant for MRP exist for the project".
What could be wrong in the settings?

Can I use a central glossary file across several projects?

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.
I have started a major project which needs a major glossary covering the companies definitions of various measures. These definitions will be needed by several other projects in the future. Is there a way of each project referencing one file which we can update as necessary rather than having to go and update each project's glossary file in turn?

Depending on number of entries and how tightly you want the glossary integrated into the content (for example, term definitions displayed as expanding text), you might consider other options, too.
One option might be to set the glossary up as its own (very simple) project rather than using the built-in RH glossary feature. Other projects could then display the glossary in a separate window. You could add/delete navigation features as needed. For example, each term could be in its own topic and you could have an alphabetical list of the terms in the TOC pane. Or all terms (or alphabetical subset) could be in long topic with TOC links scrolling to bookmarked terms.
Another option might be to set up the glossary as a PDF file that is displayed in a separate window.

Project MRP - Requirement Grouping in PR

Dear Experts,
Please note that I am attaching two finished goods (Material Type - FERT) in the project through network activity, on two different activity. The delivery time for the two items are different. Requirement date is one month different for the two finished goods.
Requirement Grouping is done through automatic grouping.
Now when I am running MRP system generates seperate planned order for two finished goods for the same raw material as the requirement date is different. If I am keeping the requirement date is same even though it is planned on different network activity system is making only one planned order for the total number of raw material required.
Just one doubt..
Is there any work around to club the requirements of raw material for two finished goods, whose requirement date is different, in one planned order / purchase requisition.

Use of WBS Groups across projects

Hi All
I want to use WBSe Groups. Is it possible that i m using multiple projects in my scenario being linked with each other through subnetworks. I have one top level project and rest are interlinked with each other. Procurement is taking place at top level wbse for the whole project. And then moved to 5ht level Wbse in some other linked project. Is it possible to manage all that through WBSe group.

Yes, you can maintain stock / procurement of material at one WBSe of one project & deliver / issue the material against the production order of the WBSe of the other project. The procedure is as below:
1 step : CJ20N / CJ01 / CJ02 Maintain grouping WBSe of the Project A
2 step : GRM5, Assign grouping WBSe of Project A to Plant & MRP group
3step : GRM4, Assign WBSe of the Project B to the grouping WBSe of the
Project A

Repeated purchasing groups across purchasing org

Hi there,
My client's setup requires the same set of purchasing groups across purchasing organizations. For example:
Purchasing Org 1:
PGRP1: SM1
PGRP2: SM2
Purchasing Org 2:
PGRP1: SM1
PGRP2: SM2
Reason being this is how it is setup in our R/3 system where all organization shares the same purchasing group.
How can I configure this in SRM?

Yes.
But, for one purchasing organization in SRM, you can have several purchasing groups (and not the reverse)

Search in IGS across several PDF files

Dear All,
does anyone know how to search in IGS within a bunch of PDF files? I like to create a search for a term, lets say "Naked pope" across several PDF's in one step. I just started to use SAP, but maybe it's necessary to create a query?

Adobe Reader has the ability to search multiple pdf's. Just open it, select Search from the Edit menu and select All PDF Documents in from the Where would you like to search? option group.
You could also set up a search folder in Finder. Add a search category of "Kind" is "PDF." Limit the scope to whatever folder holds them all.

Reports for several projects

Hi,
I developed some reports to show the distribution of resources against duration. Previously, I used the output as ASCII text file and then make an Excel spreadsheet / histogram with the results.
Scenario is:
1- I have several projects which I want to report the distro. of resources on
2- I want to show the distro. of qty. against duration sorted by projects in the same report, i.e. currently the units are shown as 1 single row / month summed for all open projects
Is it possible?

In P6, Under Reports, I look under the "Open Projects" heading, and then "Resource Usage", I start with the canned report RL-06. This is a weekly report, but you only need to adjust the timescale to show daily instead of weekly. In the Report Wizard, not Report Editor, Under the "Group and Sort" Button, it should give you the option to group by "Project" (no "S"). This should fix your issue.

Regarding Automatic requirement grouping

Hello all,
We have requirement of grouping the material requirement from different WBS elements in same project at the header WBS element. Now for doing that i have checked the checkbox in Project profile - project stock tab - Automatic requirement grouping.
Also we have maintained Project stock for the material. The Level 1 WBS in Grouping WBS element field entered 1 (For all the materials).
But still i could not generate combine PR for same material attached to different WBS element element. Please provide solution.

In network type parameters (Trx OPUV) , collective requisition to be ticked for generating single PR for all externally procured materials of the project.

How can I share a *.java source file across multiple projects in NetBeans?

I'm sure this simple and a pretty common operation but how can I share a *.java source file across multiple projects in NetBeans? Right now I keep cut, coping and pasting the same source file between multiple projects to re-use the same code. But I could I make this source file a library file or something like that so that I could access it from any project. I assume this would be a generic operation but I mentioned NetBeans for clarity. Thanks.

Create a class library.
Write your code, compile it to .class files, put those class files in a .jar file and include the jar file in the classpath whenever you want to compile a project against it.

How can I get saddle stitch to work across several chapters in the book panel?

I have been able to get saddle stitching to work perfectly if I print from a single InDesign document by going to “Print Booklet”. The problem I am having is that I can’t get it to work across several documents that are from the same book. The position of the pages is only correct from within the chapter that is selected. In other words it will put the first and last page number from the chapter on the same page but only from within that chapter not the whole book. The way saddle stitching should work is to have the first page of the book and the last page of the book on the same piece of paper. How can I get that to work? I have been flipping through books and the internet for quite some time and I can't find the answer to this.
Your help is much appreciated. I have been working on this book for a long time (my first one) and I am looking forward to finally getting this completed!

For some reason Adobe never saw it fit to allow Print Booklet to work from the Book Panel!
Weird
Workaround -
Export the Whole Book to a PDF
Create a new document of the same dimensions
Look up Zanelli Multi Page Import for InDesign
http://indesignsecrets.com/placing-all-the-pages-of-a-pdf-inside-indesign.php
Then Print Booklet from the New Document.
The important thing to remember is that InDesign is a page layout tool. Yes it can allow you output single documents in a booklet it's a nice feature.
Ultimately though impositions should be done by printers themselves using specialised Imposition Software.
If you need to do this quite often then I think you should look into Quite Imposing plugin for Acrobat.

The safety time / actual range of coverage ensures that the planned warehouse stock covers the requirements of a defined number of days. It therefore serves as a time float and thus works alongside the safety stock, which acts as quantity float.
The system simulates bringing the requirements forward by the specified number of days and the planning for the receipts, created for these requirements in the planning run, is also brought forward by this number of days.
Prerequisites
·   You have set the Safety Time indicator in the material master record (MRP 2 View) to define whether the safety time is only to apply to independent requirements or to all requirements.
·    In the material master record (MRP 2 View), in the Safety Time/Actual Range of Coverage field, you have entered the number of workdays by which the requirements are to be brought forward.
·    If, in addition to this actual range of coverage, you also want to define a different number of workdays in certain periods or a safety time less than one day then, in Customizing for MRP in the activity Define Period Profile for Safety Time/Actual Range of Coverage you can define a period profile and assign it to the material in the material master record.

Security Groups when in 'Project Server Permissions Mode' - Project Online

Hi All,
We have Project Online up and running, by default the PWA instance we added to O365 was in "SharePoint Permissions" Mode, we changed to "Project Server Permissions" Mode because of some complex security we need to configure. For some
reason (different from Project Server 2013) Project Online creates a number of Security Groups by default that seem to be duplicates. For example for Administrators there are:
- Administrators
- Administrators for Project Web App
- Web Administrators (Project Web App Synchronized)
For Project Managers:
- Project Managers
- Project Managers (Project Web App Synchronized)
- Project Managers for Project Web App
And there is something similar for all the groups (compared to Project Server 2013):
I have looked online, with no luck, for some guidance on what all these groups are and if I can delete some of them without causing PWA to crash.
If anyone out there can point me in the right direction / send me some documentation or links it will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jorge, I had the same thing on two different tenants within the last week - one today. I will just clean up the SharePoint groups manually. The ones with the descriptions are the correct Project Server permission mode groups... Hopefully Microsoft will

How should I share a cluster across several sub .vis? Best practices? Current problems...

I'm trying to share a cluster across several sub .vis. I've written a save / load settings function that basically stores these settings in a static variable (full .vi attached):
Questions:
1. Is this an appropriate practice? (using a sub vi to share data)
2. My program settings appear to be lost occasionally and reset to their default values. This bug is rare, and it's hard to see what's causing it. Could this be caused by my "save / load settings"? Would this .vi result in race conditions or something weird if I use it in many places (and sub vis)? I've disabled reentrant execution.
The "save / load settings" vi above uses a sub vi to initially read the settings from a binary file and save them each time they are changed (saved). I initialize the "save / load settings" by loading the settings from text the first time this function is called.

What you are doing is generally called a LabVIEW 2 Style Global or an Action Engine. It is a valid way to store data for use across subVIs. Rather than use first call why not have a specific action to initialize the data? The code is a bit more readable. Though you can use first call as you have.
