Resetting Column Sortability

Hi All,
The problem is basically when User clicks the Sortable column and choose its descending order and then clicks the CREATE operation. The new row in ADF TABLE gets created as last row at the Last navigation. So i need to show the new row on first page under first navigation itself rather than on last page.
NOTE: For ascending order it stays on first page as first row. So the problem is with descending order. Please help.
Think if we could reset the column sortability to none and then Create new row. It will be solved. But i dont know how to reset the sortability to none (Means their shouldn't be any order [Asc or Desc] but user should have sortability option just like a fresh page)
Thanks in Advance

  • BUG Un-sortable Column sortable in context menu

    Hi
    We have a table (wrapped in a panel collection), where only some columns should be sortable. Setting sortable="false" on the those columns nicely removes the up/down arrow controls. Making the column unsortable - from that perspective. If we however access the the context menu (right click the column header) and navigate to "sort" Ascending and Descending is available, which thus still allows the user invoking sort on that column.
    Anyone with insight on this? Do we need to set additional property (aside from sortable) or is this a bug in the built in context menu?
    Regards
    Tonny

    Hi,
    However as item 2 in the linked page states, the bug should be verified. So I hope that somebody in this forum could either second a bug in the behavior of the sorting in tables or help clarify if there other mechanisms than the sortable attribute on the column element in play.
    You provide a test case, someone runs the testcase in his/her environment and you got your verification. As simple as that. Note that its not helpful if you post issues without mentioning a JDeveloper version number as it leaves us uncertain of whether this issue is in an old version of JDeveloper or a recent.
    Btw.: If we however access the the context menu (right click the column header) and navigate to "sort" Ascending and Descending is available, which thus still allows the user invoking sort on that column.
    In 11.1.2.3 I don't see a context menu opening on the right mouse click onto the column header. The column I disabled from sorting also doesn't show in any of the panelCollection menu options. So I am not sure this problem reproduces in all JDeveloper versions.

    In my pageDef I had put Refresh='prepareModel' and solved my problem but under the table I have a form with the same VO and when I click new to insert a new record in my form I can´t save my new record because the values are lost
    Anybody solved this ??

    Hi,
    your command link performs a full page refresh. Is this intended ? If instead of <af:outputText value="#{row.Swsubject}" you set the command link text property to #{row.Swsubject}, will this change the behavior ?

  • How to make date column sortable which has inline case in report

    Hi all,
    I have date column which has inline case to check for expiration and display text 'expired' along with date. This column is set to be sortable. On sorting, it is doing based on char not on date. How can I retain this inline case along with getting correct sort order on clicking column header ?

    Hi all,Welcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and update your profile with a real handle instead of "982185".
    When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
    <li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
    <li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
    With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.

How can I retain this inline case along with getting correct sort order on clicking column header ?Note comments above regarding the importance of stating whether you are using a standard or interactive report.
    Here's 2 possible techniques, which you can modify to fit how you want "expired" values to be sorted:
    <li>{message:id=10609805}
    <li>{message:id=4175275}
    The second one is the best approach if using a standard report, or an interactive report in APEX 4.2.

  • Resetting column sequence in SQL

    Hi All, I have a simple requirement but I cant think of the solution...
    to simplify the problem, I have a master field and its child field, I need another column to bring back a sequence starting from 1...n and resetting itself back to 1 when a new master records starts eg...
    Master_id child_id seq
    200 100 1
    200 105 2
    200 120 3
    205 151 1
    205 159 2
    300 170 1
    ect
    If a solution can be done using purely SQL, that would be ideal
    also please note there is no arithmetic relationshp between the master rec and its child rec

  • Resetting columns in SequenceView Control

    Hello,
       I have a CVI operator interface with a SequenceView control. On the control are columns for the high and low limits, measurement, and step execution time for each test step. When I run the OI in "Test UUTs" mode, the values of these columns do not reset (i.e. clear) when I run a second UUT. Is there a command, or method,  to clear the columns in a SequenceView control prior to the start of UUT test?
      Thank you in advance for your time and response.
    Thank you,
    Jim

    Howdy Jim -
    There is not a specific method call that clear  the limits, measurements, etc. in the columns of the sequence view.
    One option would be to close and open the sequence file in one of the callbacks.  This of course would cause some delays in the execution, but it should clear all of the columns that are assigned values at runtime.
    I would recommend using a property loader step to explicitly reset any values you wish.  You could use a property loader step in the setup of a sequence to complete this task.  I realize that this introduces its own problem in the it is a step that is seen in the sequence view when it is executed.  Additionally, the other caveat would be that the columns are not cleared, they are just set to "default" values.  However, there just doesn't seem to be a really clean solution to this issue.
    If you have any more questions, or would like some more information, please let me know.
    Have a great day!

  • To fix a column in a sortable table

    Hi team,
    the issue is that i need to sort a table, but a column should be "fixed", namely it does not change its order, since it represents the order, at the beginning state, of the rows.
    How can i do it (programmatically / or not)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ciao

    Thanks for the answer.
    Sorry if i did not explain correctly my problem.
    I try to do it better.
    I have a table that has some columns sortable, so if i click on one of them all the rows of all the columns will change their position, depending on the relationships with the sorted column(on which you have clicked on).
    There is a column that i do not want to be sorted(while the other i do). i want that this column remain in its state.
    for istance(3 columns)
    1 b x
    2 c y
    3 a z
    ordering alphabetically the middle column, it should become:
    1 a z
    2 b x
    3 c y
    the left column(123) is the one that i do not want to be sorted.
    how can i do it since the table changes also its positions?
    Thanks

  • How do I retain the default 3 column sort order in a standard report

    I have a standard (not interactive) report of about 12 columns in which I set column 1 as the primary sort, column 2 as the second sort within that and column 3 as another sort within 1&2. I have also made other columns sortable by the user. However, once a sort is done by the user on one of the other columns, the default sort order never seems to come back, even if the application is closed. Is there something I need to set?

    Standard report sort columns are stored persistently as user preferences. The <tt>apex_util.remove_sort_preferences</tt> method can be used to remove them, resetting reports to the default sort order. However this is not a precision instrument: it removes the user's sort preferences for all reports...
    It is possible to remove the sort preference for individual reports using the <tt>apex_util.remove_preference</tt> method by reverse engineering the required sort preference name from the admin user preference report, but I wouldn't recommend it. I recently worked on an application where this had been done for one report, but we removed this "feature" as: (1) no one could remember why it had been done in the first place; (2) it was completely inconsistent with the behaviour of the other app reports; (3) the implementation was Byzantine (get non-obvious pref value and have page re-request itself with additional parameters) and lead to (4) poor page performance.
    Unless users are jumping up and down demanding this I'd stick to the status quo...

  • Sorting report columns for PL/SQL report

    I have created a report of type "Pl/Sql function body returning Sql query" in which I am generating the column names within the query. I would now like to make the first three of these columns sortable. But when I click on the "sort" box for the first three columns, all my column names suddenly switch to "Col 1", "Col 2" etc.
    As you can see by the following snippet from the PL/SQL that generates the query, the column names are data driven, so I'm not in a position to declaratively rename each column. As it happens, the first three columns names are fixed, but all the subsequent column names are data driven.
    Suggestions on how to make the first three columns sortable while preserving the generated column names of the remaining columns?
    thanks
    susan weber
    declare
    query varchar2(4000); -- query
    begin
    query := 'select first_name "First Name", last_name "Last Name", encounter_date "Encounter Date" ';
    for c1 in (select distinct attr_src, attr_code, attr_text, sequence_number from finding_vt)
    loop
    query := query || ', (select val_text from finding_vt vt where vt.encounter_id = e.encounter_id and vt.attr_src = ''' || c1.attr_src || ''' and vt.attr_code = ''' || c1.attr_code || ''' and sequence_number = ' || c1.sequence_number || ') "' || substr(c1.attr_text,0,30) || '"';
    END LOOP;
    query := query || ' from patient pat, encounter e where pat.patient_id = e.patient_id';
    return query;
    end;

    This turns out to be related to the choice of "use generic column names" v. "use query specific column names".
    I had chosen "use generic column names" just to get past the initial creation page. I then debugged the query creation sql, but never changed that setting back to "use query specific column names". The fix is to choose "use query specific column names".

  • Lowercase first letter in column name of non-interactive report..Again

    A couple of days ago a posted a question on how to make the column name in a non-interactive report
    come out as lowercase. (original post: Lowercase first letter in column name of non-interactive report
    I am using Theme13, which is probably the only theme that forces the first letter
    of a column name in a report to uppercase.
    Anyway, I received several responses including the answer which I applied to my page.
    Then I went back to make the column sortable and that negates the CSS override and
    the first letter in the column name is back to uppercase...arrrggghhh!
    Are there any further suggestions on how to force this to lowercase with theme 13 and a sortable column?

  • Af:column visible property

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 and ADF-BC in my application.
    I want to pragmatically control the visible property of the af:column inside the table.
    I have the following code for af:column.
    <af:column sortable="false" headerText="Impact Cat New" id="c7" visible="#{row.bindings.Selected.inputValue}">
    </af:column>
    Initially, the value of 'Selected' will be false when the table is first displayed and hence it should NOT be displayed.
    In the table selection listener,I set the property 'Selected' to true for the selected row and refresh the table[AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(tblEmp)].
    But Even after refresh the table is never showing the column for which visible is set as true.
    The table is inside a panelCollection.
    Please advice.
    Regards,
    Praveen

    This won't work, as the column is the container for all rows and the row attribute is only available when the table rows arr stamped. I don't understand your use case. You want to show a column if one row gets selected? Sounds odd to me.
    If you really want to do this, you have to set an attribute outside the table and use the selection listener to switch this attrbute. Then use the new attribute in the columns visible property.

  • Need to wrap text in af:column

    Hi,
    i have a af:column with output text. Need to wrap the text in output text. Tried setting the NoWrap to false, but did not work. Below is the code. I really appreciate if someone could help me in fixing this issue.

    Hi Frank,
    Following is the jsp code that i am using but not able to wrap the text in column:
    <af:table id="logTable"
    value="#{abc.listWorkBenchLog}"
    var="log"
    bandingInterval="1"
    banding="row"
    rows="5"
    inlineStyle="border: 1px solid Silver ;width:700px;height:100px;overflow:scroll;" >
    <af:column sortable="true" sortProperty="strDesc" width="700" noWrap="false" >
    <f:facet name="header">
    <af:outputText value="Description"/>
    </f:facet>
    <af:outputText value="#{log.strDesc}" />
    </af:column>
    </af:table>
    I tried removing noWrap however it places a horizontal scroll bar (which i dont want and hence implementing this wrap text functionality) in the table.
    please help,

    I don't think you need the f:ajax tag - you should be able to do the synchronization between the tables with the built-in partial page refresh functionality.
    Just define the partialTrigger property of the second table to point to the firsttable.

  • Is it possible to change the URL of displaytag's sortable function?

    Basically, I've got a jsp page with the displaytag code on it such as:
    <display:table name="result">
    <display:column sortable="true" property="title" />
    <display:column sortable="true" property="author" />
    <display:column sortable="true" property="status" />
    <display:column sortable="true" property="location" />
    <display:column property="image" />
    </display:table>
    The way it loads the data is that in a servlet, a line of code creates the arraylist called "result", and passes that through the HTTP header onto the jsp. The jsp gets it and displaytag handles it. However, whenever I click one of the sortable headings, none of the data is found because the jsp currently needs to have the arraylist sent to it from a servlet. Clicking a sort link doesn't go through a servlet, just adds some arguments.
    Is there a way to change the sortable URL to go back through a servlet and then add the sorting code (which is something usually like ?d-49653-s=0&d-49653-o=2&d-49653-p=1)?
    Thanks
    Ed

    Hi there, Joel's example seems to be exactly what you're trying to do. All you need to do is replace his functions with your functions.
    There are two main parts to his example: 1) reacting to a URL change directly in the URL bar, 2) reacting to a button click, and setting the URL
    Regarding Item 1: this line (this adds a listener for when the URL hash is changed, and calls the 'sym.animate' function in his example). Note that he is linking the value after the # with the symbol names 'panel1', etc. This line enables the functionality for you to be able to directly change the URL to: testStep95.html#panel2, and the site will change pages.
    $(window).on("hashchange", function(){sym.animate(location.hash.replace("#",""), sym.onStage)});
    Regarding Item 2: he's setting the page title (based on the active panel symbol) and URL hash, in the  'sym.animate' function. He calls the 'sym.animate' function on click of btn1, btn2, btn3:
    document.title = panelIn;
    window.location.hash = panelIn;
    Props to Joel for his slick example!
