Resizing Issues (app - applet conversion problems)

Hi I have recently converted an application which was completed and fully functional to an applet. The only problem I am experiencing is with the resizing of some buttons whose labels get manipulated during the course of running the program/applet. Basically there are a couple of buttons that start empty and when text gets added to them they dont re-size, they just stay thin, so you can barely read the label. Can I stress again that this was not an issue before some small modifications that allow the program to be ran as both an app and an applet. If you resize the window even slightly during execution then the buttons jump to the desired size, but that obviously isnt satisfactory behavior, they need to appear properly without any re-sizing of the window.
The code is kind of complicated, but if anyone needs to see it to help, then let me know, im using borderlayout.

When you add the text to the buttons try to force the layout of the container to be reevaluated by using the method invalidate (or is it validate, can't remember).
Another workaround would be to have the original text of the button to be a string of blanks so that the button is bigger from the start.
You can also use the method setPreferredSize on the button to set it to a fixed size no matter what the text in it is.

Post 1.3.5 issues: App Installation problem - Restart Required (endless loop)

OK, so I've upgraded to 1.3.5 and that went well. The problem now is that I can't install ANY application from the App Catalog. Every time I attempt to install something the install fails and I get a message "Restart Required" to which I respond "YES" and the device restarts (looks like a luna restart, not a full restart). However, I still can't install anything since I keep getting the same message.
Anyone else seeing this? I'm attempting a full restart now (still in progress as of this post).

The looping "Restart Required" message is apparently the result of having some Homebrew apps installed that don't quite have everything Palm expects. The process which is trying to move your apps to their new home barfs and gives up. When you try to install a new app, it trys again (with the same result).
The fix is to download the latest Preware and run something called the Emergency Migration Helper. This "fixes" the Homebrew app installs so that the Palm migration process can succeed. I assume you could also try removing all Homebrew apps, but the Prebrew EMH fix is much easier IMO.

Resizing an apps window interrupts mplayer

Hi all,
I use mplayer to play music from internet radio but when I resize another apps window, the music is interrupted. I have an AMD Athlon 64x2 2.4GHz machine and this seems rather unacceptable to me... ;-) I have always used a custom-compiled kernel on my Arch x86-64 installation but this problem seems to have started with using a custom 2.6.24.x kernel.
Any hints on what kernel config item(s) could produce this problem? Is it a matter of unfair multitasking resource allocation?

On the mini, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

Conversion problem in PURCHASE ORDER

Hi all,
wrong conversion was done in Quantities/Weights tab of item overview during creation of Purchase Order,instead of putting order unit " 1 tonne = 1000kg" it was wrongly fix as "5 tonne = 4536kg", the order has been receive and issue , but during stock taking this conversion problem is giving wrong Quantity for the material in MB5B . Pls what can i do to resolve this.

1.Cancel material docuemt---MBST (Material document no and fiscial year)
2.Delete the P.O line items --Me22n
3.Enter the fresh line items in the same P.O
If partial stock Exists then do the Physical inventory process to adjust the Stock

Multi-issue app with subscription not show any issue of the magazine

Hi all,
I recently migrated my magazine from multi-issue app to multi-issue with itunes subscription app. I want to publish my magazine into the newsstand with free subscription.
If I install on my ipad the .ipa I see all the issue published in the last year and a half. I can subscribe the free subscription and all working properly.
When Apple store approve the app they told me that no magazine appears in my app (and the screenshoot they attached me confirm this).
I can't understand what could have happened.
On the development ipad was previously installed the normal version of the app (with no subscription). Is this a problem?

I agree with poorxperiaplay here. The problem is directly related to all Google services not just Gtalk, thats why Gmail doesn't sync right, nor does the calendar, nor does it work right when you pick out an app on the Google Play web site on your PC and try to install from there. It never live syncs with the server.
You can't just take out features like that because you broke them and then say sorry. People rely on the Google services, its why we bought an Android Phone! Not only that, ALL other versions of the Xperia Play, R800i, R800a, R800at, all run 2.3.4 official from Sony successfully. Verizon modifies it for roll out to their phones, to add their software, which means your product team broke it, and they aren't spending the time to fix it.
And yes the facebook application does not sync properly or even work properly on 3G either. The sync issue has been a problem from day 1. The web site on the phone works fine.
These are major issues that are fundamental to all R800x phones. This needs to be fixed, immediately.

CS2 INX to CS5.5 conversion problem

When exporting my CS2 layouts as INX files and open them in CS5.5 this happens:
The page on the left is the CS2 doc (how it should look), the page on the right is the INX opened in CS5.5. (Note how the background tint has also changed)
The reason for exporting as INX was to try and get round an ongoing problem of overset text on certain columns when exporting as IDML in CS5.5 (from converted CS2 docs)
Hope this makes sense!

Just so everyone’s clear the issue was originally a problem with InCopy text flow being different than the InDesign file. I advised Kit to make sure that all of the stories have been recomposed before exporting to InCopy and there were two methods discussed. Export to INX from CS2 and open that in CS5.5 or open the INDD file in CS5.5 and export as IDML and open that.
This forces all stories to recompose at once. The other method was to use the KBSC to do it but I felt getting rid of any other extraneous junk would be taken care of by exporting to INX/IDML.
I'm not 100% sure that doing the INX export is the best way to go.
There are some ... rough edges in InDesign's conversion between different versions, and the rough edges are different with INX/IDML export/import than they are with CS2 -> CS5.5. (Not necessarily better...but different.)
You might find that simply forcing CS5.5 to do a recomposition of all text is better. As Bob said (in the other thread), you can use the keyboard shortcut Cmd-Alt/Opt-Slash (/). Or alternatively, use Quick Apply: Cmd-Enter (or Control-Center), and type it in and select it:
Alternatively, you could export to IDML from CS5.5 (rather than INX from CS2).
I would expect that to give you fewer rough edges (but your milage may vary).

When Messages.app refreshes conversations, messages appear out of chronological order.

I'm also using an iPhone 5, all of my software is up to date. Conversations on the iPhone are in correct order. Most of the conversations are using my phone number, but some are using my email address. The issue appears with both. Is there an easy way to troubleshoot or solve?

So I got the impression it was the actual Conversation (Left hand List) that was un-ordered or at least out of order.
Form your Picture I see you did mean Messages.
As I said in my reply most people reports that Quitting Messages and restarting the app does seem to sort this.
Is this what you mean by "refreshes" or do you man something else such as looking at a conversation again or making the App the "front" app ?

Newsstand for single issue app?

I am doing a monthly magazine for the iPad with the Adobe DPS Single Edition that comes with the Creative Cloud. That means I can only do single-issue apps (1 issue in the app) and I cannot do multi-issue apps (several issues in 1 app). My client is not willing to pay the "expensive" Adobe DPS Professional Fee of 3600 euros per year what is understandable as my client is a middle-sized publisher. So far, I've always brought the latest magazine issue on the App Store via an app update (version 1.1, version 1.2, version 1.3 etc.). However, the problem here is that I have to wait for that app update to be reviewed and approved by Apple. In the past 6 months, that has usually taken 3 to 4 days. Now, it's already been taking 7 days and the current magazine issue is very time sensitive and my client is quite upset about that (understandably).
So I was thinking of changing the app into an app that appears in the Newsstand. However, I read that Newsstand does not support single-issue apps which makes sense to a certain extent. But I am desperately trying to find an alternate solution for my dilemma as I really want to prevent the waiting time for an app to be reviewed/approved. I've already called iTunes Connect in the US to discuss the whole thing through and they said that automatic background downloads (like I need them for my magazine app) are ONLY possible with a Newsstand app.
I'm really stuck with my problem. Can somebody please give me a helping hand here as this is really a serious issue?

Short of paying for a pro or enterprise account there is nothing you can do.
You can check out alternate provider but you'll find that while some may be
less expensive there's no free way to handle this.

Issues performing currency conversion

Guys while i am trying to run default currency conversion the package status shows as ( CANCELLED) not error or even completed which i came across for the first time. I checked all my DIM and data files. Can anyone help on this issue.
Also i would like to know that how do you run 2 application 1.) finance 2.) Rate in a single report(evdre)...

That is not the issue with currency conversion. I checked whether it performed the currency conversion after the package status showed cancelled but it did not. Now i made some changes to the FX trans logic and it is showing an error that ""Task name LOAD:""

I have maintained LC in data file as well as RPT currency DIM.
Regarding the 2evdre in single report.
When i create a report using =evdre() it opens a finance report if in my CV i have selected finance app.
When i am in RATE app it creates Rate report.
My question was how do i get the both in single sheet or even different sheets, because when i open finance report and then try and change the application to rate and then click expand all the previously created report is also converted to finance.

Applet Flash problem

I have an applet and a flash in two frames in a HTML page. The applet and the falsh app communicate through the Javascript code with in the HTML pages. The flash app does not work as it is supposed to when the applet is present in the Parent HTML page. When I removed the applet, the flash app seems to work ok. But the applcation that I am working needs both of them together. Plz suggest me a solution if you know of any flash and applet related problems.

See if either of these two things help.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again.

IPhone app store downloading problem

I have iPhone app store downloading problem (iOS 5). I could not download or update any software successfully from yesterday. Every app shows "waiting for download" but nothing happen for two days. It seems my app store does not connect to server. I use same account in my iPad, but it works normal. So, what happen to my iPhone? Please help me!

I just recently finished making an AMV in Adobe Premiere 5.5, and I am having trouble trying to figure out how to compress it into an Mpeg-2 source for a competition/convention.
I also have these massive black borders on the side of my video that I know is probably due to improper resizing on my part, and although I have tried to remedy this with a new avisynth script of the exported uncompressed AVI (before compressing to MPEG-2), whenever I try to run the avisynth script in either VirtualDubMod or TMPGEnc (the converting program recommended by: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/mpegforcons/) it crashes, although the original video does work.
This is the avisynth script I have created for the post-video:

I do not know if the resizing I have set up in the new avisynth script will fix my resizing issues, and I would like to improve that as much as possible, so if someone could clarify for me, that would be greatly appreciated.
You may also notice some audio issues throughout the video, however on further playback this never appears to happen in the same place. I believe this is caused by poor audio quality, and I have a friend of mine working on setting up a lossless source that I will try to recompress with the video before friday, however if someone else might know what is causing this, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the current MPEG-2 I have, however for obvious reasons, I do not consider it acceptable as of yet:

The original export from Premiere is Microsoft AVI Uncompressed, and then attempted to convert to MPEG-2 (I tried multiple settings, they all have the same sizing issues), and as I said before, no matter what I try to do with the avisynth script, it crashes.
I have even tried taking out every line from the new avisynth script except for the first two detailing the location of the video and audio, however this does nothing, it still crashes.
I had to convert all my original source avisynth scripts to AVI files (that are massive, as I am editing from 52 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), and so editing the original scripts is impossible at this point, because to my knowledge, that would mean I would have to reconvert them all to AVI, which took over 16 hours, and then that would probably make me have to re-edit this entire video (which if you look at it, based on length and how much work I've put into it: is impossible, especially given the time constraints).
So anything that I can do to fix this will have to be done to the export from Premiere, unless there is a way to work with the AVI's that I made from the avisynth scripts.
The source is primarily 16:9 DVD (Fullmetal Alchemist) and very few parts from a 4:3 DVD (Naruto). (You can recognize these parts in the video, it is whenever someone is rowing in a boat during the lyrics "Row Row")

If anyone is curious, the song is "Libera me from Hell", and it is 44100 from what I could tell when I ran it in WINAMP (I converted it from mp3 to wav through WINAMP, if there is a better way that I am unaware of, please let me know).

Those "black borders," if they are visible in the Program Monitor, are most likely due to a mis-match between the Source Files and the Sequence Preset.
If they are only showing up upon Export, then there is likely a mis-match between your Sequence and your Export, and could be either with the Aspect Ratio, or if using non-square pixels, the PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio).
I'll defer any commens on AVISynth to the experts here.

Try a reset by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 15-20 seconds until the white Apple logo appears.
