First: It's pointless to first install a full system and then try to overwrite the database with another one.
I would INSTALL the system using the database copy.
This procedure is call "homogeneous system copy" and there's a guide for that available at http://service.sap.com/instguides and also in "Note 151603 - Copying an SQL Server database".
The error message is coming because the database has not the proper users, you'd need to run the STM tool to adapt the users and the environment. Those steps are all described in detail in the guide.

  • Installing SAP system with MSCS

    Hi,
Anyone can give me the steps for installing a SAP system with MS cluster?
Window server 2003, MS. SQL 2005, SAP ECC6.0
    Regards
    Chin

    Hi,
Refer SAP Installation guide in http://service.sap.com/instguides
I will give an overview about the installation process.
Basic setup of MSCS 5.2 for SAP involves 2 systems, we will name it as node A(First MSCS node) and B(Additional MSCS node)
3 Cluster groups should be created for SAP, Database, Quorum
MSCS should be configured between node A and B, test the cluster by moving the groups between node A and B. Its very important to note that, Quorum disk group should not be taken offline. If its goes offline there are chances of cluster getting crashed.
Steps to be followed for SAP Cluster Installation
     In Cluster Admin, move the disk groups and shared disks to first MSCS node.
     On the first MSCS node, install the MS SQL Server 2005 64-Bit
             In Cluster Admin, move the disk groups and shared disks to Additional MSCS node.
     On the Additional MSCS node, install the MS SQL Server 2005 64-Bit
     In Cluster Admin, move the disk groups and shared disks to first MSCS node.
     Install the Central Services Instance for ABAP (ASCS) on first MSCS node.
     Install the Central Services Instance for Java (SCS) on first MSCS node.
     Cluster the First MSCS node
     Install the Database Instance on the First MSCS node
     Cluster the Additional MSCS node
     Install Enqueue Replication Server for ABAP and Java(Optional)
         Install the Central Instance
     Install at least one Dialog Instance
Before starting the installation, make sure that system logged on as Cluster Administrator.
    Hope it helps

  • Netweaver SR3 Installation - No option to install SAP System

    Hello,
We are trying to install NW04s SR3 from the DVD shipment.
We have started the installation master CD:
    51033511_11
However, in the SAPinst, we do not see an option to install SAP Netweaver system.
The options under SAP Netweaver are:
      Standalone Engines
      Optional Standalone Units
      Software Lifecycle options
Can someone please tell us if SR3 installation is possible, or we need to upgrade from SR2 ?
    Thanks

    Hi Ed,
It seems that you must be attempting to install on a 32-bit platform.  Please see Note 1052298:

  • Updating Database table across multiple SAP systems

    Dear All,
I am working on a requirement which is described as follows:
The requirement is to keep a database table in sync across 10 different SAP clients (for production, test systems etc.). So when the database table is modified in source SAP system, it has to be replicated across all the clients and table of other SAP systems.
So the queries from my side are:
    1. Whether XI should be used here as a middleware or direct RFC calls can do the updation across the SAP systems?
    2. If XI is to be used what would be the recommended approach (ABAP Proxy to ABAP Proxy communication?)
Hope you can recommend me the best options to achieve this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pratik

it depends on what tables are involved/ what type of data/what transactions cause the update.
If you know the table names - then database level replication may be an option u2013 many projects do refresh their QA system with production data for a very real test data. If not, a hard disk level mirroring may have to be considered.
There are other technologies like change pointers in conjunction with distribution model can also be considered - which could trigger idocs that can be sent to the other systems using ALE layer or ALE *** PI/XI

  • Database distribution for several SAP Systems

Hi gurues, we have a very important concern about SAP on Z systems, it is possible/recommended to have on on Z system only one DB engine with several databases that correspond to several SAP Systems running on the machine?
Because we have AIX platform right now  and we can not have that kind of database landscape, we only can choose between MCOD or one dataabase engine with one datase in one machine (we can not share db engine).
Hope this question is clear enoguh for you.
    Regards
    Gustavo

    Gustavo,
Sadly yes. You'll have to forgive some of my terminology. I actually work on the Basis team at my company and I am not a DBA. We happen to be running DB2 z/OS and we are using datasharing. For a sandbox ECC system we might have SID SE1 and DB2 sub-systems SE11 and SE12. For another sandbox BI system we might have SID SB1 and DB2 sub-systems SB11 and SB12. Even if datasharing is not used (and hence the 12 member would not exist, SE12 for instance), I would strongly recommend against MCOD and instead suggest using a different DB2 system for each SAP SID.
We have spoken to at least 1 customer that implemented their ECC (ABAP only) and Portal (Java only) SIDs as MCOD in the same DB2 z/OS system. Unfortunately, DB2 z/OS has some somewhat arbitrary limits for things like thread storage which MUST exist under the "2gig bar" (apparently due to some 31bit code still in use). Effectively, this limits the number of threads (and in the SAP world the number of SAP work processes) that a single DB2 member can service. I believe the limit is around 800 threads. Of course, with datasharing you can spread the load to multiple instances (SB11, SB12, SB13, SB14, etc), but then you must also plan for extra resources to be available in a planned failover for maintenance type situation. This particular customer ended up needing to fine-tune some java database threads and ended up needing an extra DB2 instance or two to handle the load during maintenance using planned failover.

  • RCA:Database Monitoring error for SAP Systems on OS/4000 with DB4

    Hello Experts,
We are trying to add ECC systems in DATABASE monitoring(DBACOCKPIT) in RCA workcenter of solman 7.0 ehp1 sp26, the DBSID of the systems are shown as *LOCAL.hence the system is not getting added .This is the case only for system on OS/400 and DB4.
The DBSID in RCA is fetched from SMSY-Which is fetched from SLD->The data supplier in  ECC pushing the data to SLD
The DBSID in System(Menu)-Status is showing as LOCAL, hence this DBSID(LOCAL) is reported in SLD->SMSY

  • How to sync iPhone apps from phone into new install of iTunes

I just upgraded my 32 bit Vista PC to 64 bit Win 7. I had to do a clean install and am now reinstalling all of my software.
I have an iPod and iPhone. I was able to sync and download all of my music from my iPod into iTunes easily. I have all of my apps on my iPhone and want to sync them (download them) into the new empty version of iTunes. I do not have any music on the iPhone, just apps. But, I have not found a way to download the apps from the iPhone into iTunes.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

With iTunes open, I connected the iPhone. I did the File-Transfer purchases. Then sync'd the iPhone with iTunes. All of the apps were now on both the iPhone and iTunes. Many of the apps had moved to other iPhone screens, but that was easy to rearrange.
    Thanks for your help!!

  • Register precalculation server as my company SAP system ?

  • SAP (ECC) extractor to transfer data into Non SAP System

    Hi Experts,
Scenario : We had a requirement to decommission the existing SAP BW system and merge it into Non SAP BI system (say MSBI).
Existing BW system getting data from standard extractor and populating till cubes.
Now If this SAP BW system will be decommissioned and all the data needs to be moved to new Non SAP System BI.
What will be the approached for this smooth transfer.
Will SAP (ECC) std extractor will be used to move the data into non SAP BI system ? How ?
Any documentation and experience will be helpful.
    Thank-You.
    Regards,
    VB

    Hi VB,
First you need to identify that your MSBI system support BCI(business content integration) method. For example Informatica support BCI and provide RFC plugins to integrate with SAP. If your MSBI support BCI method then you can use standard dataextractors to extract data in new BI system. You will also need to plan the reporting model and how the extracted data will be feeded in your BI datamodel/reporting side. You may use some transformation reference from your existing SAP BI system.
    Thanks

    Hello Daniela,
you try to perform an offline backup (which is a very uncommon way nowadays) and your SAP system is not down.
This is also described in the official documentation:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32/helpdata/en/0d/d309664a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm
offline: Database backup in offline mode, in other words, the database is shut down during backup. When you select this parameter, BRBACKUP checks that no SAP system users are connected to the database. If an SAP System is active, the database is not shut down and BRBACKUP terminates the process with an error message (message number BR0068E).

  • Option "SAP system" missing in SAP installer Win 2003 (32 bit)

    Hi
    We have SAP NW 7.0 SR3 & SAP ERP 6.0 SR3
When we are trying to install SAP ERP/ NW using master installer on Win 2003 32 bit (any database) the installation option "SAP Systems" is missing.
The same is available in Win 64 bit installation.
We have copied product.catalog file from 64 bit setup to 32 bit setup and started sapinst.exe again.
    It worked fine.
ECC has been installed and we are able to thru SAP GUI (thick client).
Is it OK to do so?
Was this intentional or a bug in setup?
    Thanks in advance !
    Ruhi/ Ritesh

    Hi Ruhi,
New installation of ECC6 is for 64 bit only. You can not have 32bit installation any more.
    That can be a reason.

  • Archiving Information from "old" SAP systems and switch off the server

    Good day
I hope someone can offer some advice. Our company has a few sites across the globe. Three of the sites in South Africa ( where I'm working at the moment ) had their own SAP systems. Three odd years ago, we implementeted a new SAP system, combining the separate SAP systems into the new one, running of the same box etc etc. The "old" SAP systems were still availbale after the new one went live, in the event that people want to look back at history.
We are you busy with a project where we are going to merge our current SAP implementation into our global SAP system... obviously only the current master data are going to be transfered to the new system. It's an idea time for us to clean up our data.
My question: Once we go live on our global SAP system, we want to "export" or archive from the 3 "old" SAP systems the Master Data from the HR module ( like employees who's left the company - it's law to keep the records for 5 years at least once a employee has left) , HSEC and FI modules into a single datastore... this way we don't have to keep the three servers running in the event that history is required. The servers wil be kept off-line and only switched back on if a detailed audit is required.
The global SAP system does not have an archive solution implemented to we can't access archived data from the new system...
So, we need to export master data from our 3 old SAP boxes into a Unicode type file system, and our local South African sites needs to be able to access the information using a text type editor or a web based interface we can run off our SAP Portal...
    Thank you

    Hello Cornelius,
To introduce myself, I am an active SDN/BPX member as well as an ASUG Archiving and Information Lifecycle Management Volunteer.
Decommissioning Legacy Systems (SAP and non-SAP systems) is quite the topic these days with divestitures becoming such a common occurrence.
Some things to think about in this situation are:
Identifying the data to be decommissioned:
what information would be needed for an audit
what information would be needed for a lawsuit situation
Identifying the access requirements to this data.
Identifying the retention policies for this data (this will be
    driven by regulatory requirements, etc.).
If this has not already been done - define retention periods for this data - it will most likely have different retention periods based on the type of data.
You mention that you do not have an archive solution in place yet.
I would recommend that you may want to research that option because typical requirements for retaining legacy data is that it is stored in such a manner so that it is protected from any type of modification.
There are a lot of 3rd party archiving/storage solutions that provide this type of secure storage.
You are correct in that you will want to export or archive the legacy data as opposed to loading the data into your current system.  It would probably involve a large increase in the size of your SAP database and you would probably run into number range overlaps.
But, if this data is exported to a filesystem, you will be losing the business logic associated with the data, and the information is no longer in its original format (this could have legal ramifications).
I would recommend using SAP Archiving functionality for this effort.  If you are looking for outside resources, there are many vendors out there that have a lot of experience with these types of projects.
Two that come to mind are Dolphin IT and OpenText.
Or, depending on the timeline of your project, SAP is coming out with a tool that can be used for decommissioning SAP Systems.  It is part of
their SAP ILM solution.  It will be called Retention Warehouse.  Here is a paragraph from their latest white paper describing this new tool:
With the retention warehouse, SAP now offers a
standardized method for system decommissioning in
answer to these pressing issues. It allows you to reuse the archived data outside the original system in a central
    retention warehouse.
For more detail on this topic, the white paper can be found on the SAP ILM Website:
    service.sap.com/ilm
This tool is part of a larger initiative from SAP to help customers with their ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) strategy.  This tool is near and dear to me as I was fortunate enough to be part of an
ASUG Influence Council that helped with some of the requirements for this solution.
I hope this information is useful.
    Good luck and Best Regards,

  • Scratch install vs. system restore for HA system

    Hi All,
We are planning for a Mimix High Availability install and would like to know whether our initial install of the HA systems (R/3 in one LPAR and CRM/BW in another LPAR) should be full DR type restore or a new install of R/3, CRM, and BW.  Lakeview has recommended a scratch install and we have a vague memory that change the server name on an already installed SAP system can cause problems.  What type of install did you perform during your initial setup of the HA systems?  Did you load your production database on the HA systems during the initial install or wait until you were ready to start replication?
    TIA,
    Stan

    Hi Stan,
as Mimix "only" replicates the DB, a few libs and the IFS (or even not) and nothing of the rest of the system, I would not go for a full scratch install. I would start with a homogenious systemcopy with special things in it - e.g. my "easy homo copy" and then you need to discuss how you want to start the server with what IP names etc.
Most likely you want to switch host names - at least the logical hostname. So, the SAP profiles need to be adjusted.
But, I don't see any benefit (except additional effort) from a scratch install.
(you should ensure, that the GIDs and UIDs of the users are the same - this makes IFS easier)

By the way, Is SAP Server IP added to Relay Agent for sending or receiving mail ?

    Hi,
This problem is a classic problem of mail routing via Exchange. Exchange like most mail servers use the domain part of the email address as a means to route mails. So I will make an assumption that your main company mail addrss is "User @ fes.com".
So when you send a mail to the "User @ fes.com mail" address the mail is delivered to your Outlook mail address as this is the default route for company.
    (Q) So how do you get your Exchange server to relay the mail into the sending SAP system?
    (A) The easiest way would be to setup and unique mail domain for your SAP system. I always recommend "user @ client.sid.company.com" which in your case would be "u1 @ 100.PRD.fes.com". You can then instruct Exchange to send any emails addressed to 100.PRD.fes.com domain to your SAP system. Also using this format of address you can configure multiple mail connections into multiple SAP systems.
    (A) Another answer would be to enter the "Full" email address (LOcal and Domain part of address) into the routing rule for Exchange e.g. "U1 @ fes.com" so that all emails addressed to this user will be delivered into SAP. However this method requires a lot of Admin as you will have to update Exchange with ALL email address that need to receive emails. Also if your corporate mail address is "U1 @ fes.com" then all mails will be forwarded to SAP.
I would definitely NOT recommend this method but the decision is up to you.
P.S. The IP address of the SAP system is entered into the mail header of the email. This is standard practice in SMTP relay. You can suppress this header in Exchange
    Hope this helps
    Michael
