Resources on creating P2P applications

Hi everyone! I'm currently a student working on a hobbiest project to gain a better understanding of P2P applications. The idea is to build a P2P search engine where each server/client updates their own database with domain urls by using a spider program that comes with the application. Everytime someone updates their own database, I need a protocol that will update everyone elses database so everyone on the network has the same database. So essentially everyone works together to develop the database as opposed to a centralized server approach. (I hope thats not too confusing).
**Any resources on how P2P applications work will be a huge help. I have little knowledge and am still a student. Also I am planning on using PHP and mysql for internet application. However any other suggestions would be helpful as well. Thanks to all who respond, I really appreciate it.

That isn't actually a "topic", but a whole collection of topics. There are too many open questions there to be able to say anything useful.

  • MDB deployement error in Glassfish - "JMS resource not created"

    Hi,
I'm tring to deploy a J2EE application which has couple of MDBs in Glassfish 2.1. I get the following error when I deploy the EAR file to the app server. I've cofigured JMS resources using admin console but still getting this error. I've no experience of JMS, I'm not sure if I've configured it correctly. Any step-by-step guide with screenshots would be very useful, but can't find any. Please help me if you have any idea what I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

  • Message driven bean: resource not created

    Hi,
I'm having trouble deploying a simple test app that I've created (in App Server Platform Edition 8.0). It contains a servlet, that posts messages to a queue, and which appears to work fine. There is also a message-driven bean that receives these messages, but it will not deploy as is. I would be grateful for any assistance in working out why. Apologies if I'm missing something obvious, but the technology is quite new to me.
I get the following error in the server log -

    Hi, Joe,
    The message says that
JMS resource not created : joeMDB
The command to add the missing Queue:
asadmin create-jms-resource user admin restype javax.jms.Queue JoeDestQueue
    Please note:
in your sun-ejb-jar.xml, the real JNDI name for the Queue is JoeDestQueue.
Double check the namings for the Queue in both ejb-jar.xml and sun-ejb-jar.xml.
You only need two names for one Queue: one is for JNDI, one is for reference.

  • How to choose different SSO/OID resource name - when start application?

    Background
    We are new to 10g(10.1.2.0.2)
We have an environment where we have a front end 10g application (set of screens, menus, reports etc) that we like to be able to run against different backends. Eg one database for one set of data and another database with a different set of data.
We have several users and we created one SSO/OID account/username for each person and one resource type for each username/password@database that they need to have access to. We decided to name the resource type with the same name as the database – for ease of memory.
The first time that a person logs on, enters their SSO u/p SSO asks the users for their “default” u/p@db – since the formsweb.cfg’s ssoDynamicResourceCreate=true. This creates yet another resource in SSO/OID for the user. From then on the people never get the option to go into one of the other databases – ie to use one of their other SSO/OID resources.
We do not want any passwords to be written into the formsweb.cfg file.
    Question
How can we get our people to use SSO to open their front end but be able to chose a “non default” resource to open the application against a different backend/database?
    Ta

Oracle Forms can use only a resource with a name equal to the config section you are using to start your application. This in contrast to reports where the SSOCONN parameter can be used to differentiate between resources.
The solution is to use a different config section for each environment. You can for example make an html page on which you have a link to all environments, each of these pointing to a url with a different config.

  • Create Blackberry Application?

    Hi,
I'd like to create an application that will run on a Blackberry Curve for example.  Can I do this with ColdFusion or do I need to use Adobe Air?  Does anyone have any resources on this?
    Thanks,
    -ws

ColdFusion can be used to create web applications. The BlackBerry can run web applications. But they're not the same as locally-installed applications. I don't think AIR is available for BlackBerry phones yet.

  • [Application Insights] Fail to create new application using REST API

    Hi,
I'm trying to create new application in Application Insights using the REST API.
    I followed the instructions on
this page, but keep getting '404 Not Found', with the following error stream:
"{"error":{"code":"InvalidResourceType","message":"The resource type could not be found in the namespace 'microsoft.insights' for api version '2014-04-01'."}}"
The http method I'm using is: PUT
    The request URI is:
    "https://management.azure.com/subscriptions/some_real_subscription_id/resourceGroups/yonisha-new-rg/providers/microsoft.insights/component/yonisha-new-app?api-version=2014-04-01".
Can you please advice what am I doing wrong?
    Few things:
I tried both with existing/non-existing resource group.
I set the Content-Length header to '0' (otherwise the server returns an error the the length is required).

Try the API Version "2014-08-01" and also make sure you are sending a location of "Central US" (its the only location available right now).  An example of a PowerShell call that works is below.  I would also suggest checking
out the new https://resources.azure.com/ which can help you construct the REST call.
New-AzureResource -Name TestAppInsights -ResourceGroupName TestRG -ResourceType "Microsoft.Insights/Components" -Location "Central US" -ApiVersion "2014-08-01"

  • P2P Application

How do i create a P2P Application using just Java Sockets

    thanks for ur concern
By the Server Application i mean that i don't want to run a Java Server Application which accepts Client Connections.
let me explain the program in details and also specify the problems
    1) Login is done with the help of the Username And Password -- working
    2) when login a sockets r formed to connect to all the people in the network whose IP and Username is present in the database. Thats the end of datatbase thing. No requirement of that.
    3) Now the program sets up a listener.
    4) Incase another user logs in the same steps 1) 2) 3) repeat for him/her too.
    5) The listener picks up the incoming socket and shows that the user is online.
    6) incase a socket breaks or in other words the user logs out then the Socket gives and exception which shows that the user is disconnected.
Don't worry about the number of connections. I have streamlined that. Also you can see that the database is only access once.
----------- Thats the connectivity thing. -----------------------------------
Now the filesharing part1) the user is logged in and the connections are established
    2) i use the same thing you mentioned.
Then whats the problem???The problem is that this Program of mine works fine when the users are within a short range(say in a city) but fails outside.
Is there a limit that an IP address can be used only in within some range or is the firewall got to do something with it??????
Also one more question: I am using Apache as the Server Application which executes ASP Files on my PC. I want the program to run HTTPConnection to my PC and run ASP files in Apache. However this is not happening. The users within the city r also not able to connect.
please help me and if you are interested in the code i can send you the code

  • Resources for designing software application training

    Hi Everyone,
Our company is fairly new at e-learning in general and have purchased Adobe Captivate to develop training on software applications. I'm wondering if any of you have ideas/resources to share regarding creating software application training - - kind of a "train the trainer"?
We employ many programmers to customize/create applications that are specific for our organization, so we are tasked with creating training for those programs.
Any classes/websites/etc. that you could direct me to would be more than appreciated!
Thanks much and I look forward to using Captivate!

  • Including resource from the other application

Application "Common" contains headers, footers and resources that I want to include
in other apps. How should I formulate URL in include page directive to do that
              App Common has structure:
              Common

              /footer.html
and App Custom has an jsp page

Is it possible to move outside of app (Servlet) context ?
              Thanks,
              tj

That is illegal. Include refers to a resource from the current application.
Instead, use a URL to the resource and suck in its contents and write them
to the response. You can create a simple tag with the resource url as the
parameter thta does just that. Suggestion: using caching liberally for
              static resources.

  • How to create an application-specific policy file?

    Hi Everybody:
I'm a .NET developer with C #. I have a few applications currently running on my computer using the ODP 10.1
Two weeks ago I installed on my computer the ODP 10.2 Release & now my previous applications have stopped working: when I try to make the connection to the database gives me this exception:
    OraOLEDB (0x80004005)
ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified
In FAQ section for ODP.NET I found the next:
Q: I have two .NET applications on the same machine running two different versions of ODP.NET. How do I ensure both these applications use the correct ODP.NET version?
A: Beginning with ODP.NET 10.1.0.3, the Oracle installer will register the following publisher policy DLLs in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) that redirect 9.2, 10.1 and 10.2 ODP.NET applications to use the last installed version of ODP.NET: Policy.9.2.Oracle.DataAccess.dll and Policy.10.1.Oracle.DataAccess.dll.
ODP.NET 9.2 includes just the first policy DLL above. These policy files ensure that all your ODP.NET applications use the most recently installed version of ODP.NET.
You may undo the redirection manually. Policy DLLs can be de-installed through gacutil.exe using the /u option. Another approach is to navigate to the GAC directory (i.e. C:\WINNT\assembly) through the Windows Explorer and delete the policy folders. That will eliminate any policy enforcement for all your ODP.NET applications.
If you have applications on the same machine using different ODP.NET versions, you should create an application-specific policy file.
I'm trying to do that, but I don't know what is an application-specific policy file. Someone can give me an example of How can I create and application-specific policy file???
    Regards

    Hi,
Binding redirection is a ".net thing" as opposed to a "odp.net thing", see if this helps:

    Hope it helps,

Where did you get that script and what are you trying to do, exactly (generally, I got that your aim is "creating partner application in Oracle").

  • How do I create "Oracle Application Express Adminstrator" in APEX 3.2.1?

    Hello,
Quite the newbie so I appreciate any assistance with this.
How do create "Oracle Application Express Adminstrator" in APEX 3.2.1? I am not talking about a workspace adminstrator but an Entire APEX instance administrator or "superuser"?
I log into APEX_ADMIN as ADMIN and understand how to create a new user. But how do I grant the new user DBA or "super user" privlidges? It was easy to do when I first installed XE, I would just "check" the "DBA" when I created the user. But when I upgraded to APEX 3.2.1 the function does not seem to be there?
Thank you for any help you can provide!

    Hi,
I think you can not grant DBA role from Apex anymore.
You need connect to database e.g. with SYS user and grant that role.
