Restarting project from beginning after failing quiz

I have set up an exam at the end of my Captivate 7 project, but I am having trouble getting the performance that I need. I was hoping someone could give me some insight into achieving the performance I want.
I have been able to achieve the following:
-I am allowing the user 3 attempts to pass the quiz
-If they pass any of the attempts, the course is considered complete (and/or passed)
However, I have not been successful at getting this outcome:
If the user fails all 3 attempts, I need the course to be considered complete but failed
Our requirement is that if the user fails the quiz all 3 times, then they must retake the entire course. What I have experienced is that when the user exits after failing, when they try to retake the course, it will take them to the last bookmarked location of the current attempt (in my case, the page after the quiz results slide that lets the user know they failed). It is considering the course Incomplete (and therefore bookmarking to the end) rather than considering it Complete and Failed (and allowing them to repeat the course from a fresh start).
I have tried the following preferences with no luck:
Complete, Success/Completion Criteria: Slide views and/or quiz, with Quiz is passed or the quiz attempt limit is reached. This resulted in the user getting a "complete" status and certificate for the course, even if they failed all 3 times.
Passed/Failed, Success/Completion Criteria: Quiz is passed. This results in the course getting stuck in an Incomplete state after failure. When they exit they don't have the option to retake from the beginning and keep getting bookmarked to the last slide of the project.
Any ideas on how I can set the preferences? I was considering using the Project End Option of Looping the project, but I'm not sure how this will perform. Or maybe I need to use JavaScript to force this? We use SCORM 1.2 / Meridian LMS.

Your comments were very helpful. I think your advice on avoiding using Javascript to force the issue was a great tip.
Just as a follow up, I wanted to let you know what my team and I came up with upon further brainstorming. We ended up using some navigation and advanced actions to reset the course internally, without having to involve or upgrade the SCORM.
Here's the solution we are going with:
We allow the user infinite attempts at the exam (under preferences), but are using advanced actions to reset the course if the user fails three times in a row.
From the exam results page, when the user clicks the Continue button, the slide just after the results page has a conditional action that executes On Enter of the page. The action has 3 types of decisions - what happens if they pass, what happens if they fail, and what happens if they fail on an attempt that is a multiple of 3.
If the user passes the exam (if the variable cpQuizInfoTotalCorrectAnswers is greater or equal to 4), then it jumps them to a page letting them know they passed (and under preferences, the course is considered complete once they pass).
If the user fails the exam (cpQuizInfoTotalCorrectAnswers is less than 4), and it is not an attempt on a multiple of three (cpQuizInfoAttempts does not equal 3, does not equal 6, does not equal 9, and does not equal 12), then it jumps to a slide with a button we created called "Retake Exam." The button jumps them back to the introduction to the exam.
If the user fails the exam (cpQuizInfoTotalCorrectAnswers is less than 4), and it is their 3rd attempt, it jumps them to a page that has a "Restart Course" button. This button executes a big advanced action that jumps them to slide 1, resets any user variables to 0, and shows or hides and thing that became unlocked as the user progressed through the course the first time.
We set the actions up so that after 3, 6, 9, or 12 attempts, it will make take them to the "Restart Course" page, figuring by the 12th attempt they should have passed.
Just food for thought and wanted to share the solution.

Restoring single project from vault after Aperture 2.0 failure.

Is it possible to restore a single project from my vault?
Suddenly, one of my projects just died on me after I had just imported a very large TIFF, producing nothing but "cut out picture frames", and even after doing the newest update, which I didn't have previously, all my photos are still gone! It also caused Aperture 2.0 to quit spontaneously! If I double click on one of the missing photos, it states:"Unsupported Image Format". Oh ooh!
If anyone knows how this error came about (maybe the imported image was corrupted somehow?), that would be of great help!

If I wanted to restore a single image personally, I would go manually grab it from the vault using Finder. You can right click on the vault and do "show package contents," then navigate to the projects, right click and again "show package contents" for your project, and then go find it.

Video restarts from beginning after pause

I have a video that was converted in iTunes from a .mov file to ipod/iphone format. When I play the file on my iphone, it works fine but I cannot pause or skip through the video without the video restarting from the beginning. Is this normal for playing videos or is it an issue with the file type? Any suggestions?

Is this a seperate issue?
At this stage, I'd suspect how you're dragging/releasing, although I can't reproduce that issue no matter how I drag & release. Does this happen on every video?

Restarting slideshow from beginning

I just bought a DPF-VR100. When it is turned off then on, it seems to restart the slideshow wherever it stopped last time. I want it to start from the beginning each time. How do I do that? I couldn't find that setting or any instructions in the manual. I have the photos and music in memory. The photos are ordered in the index the way I want them to appear.

Hello, and welcome to the forums.
This is normal operation. If you turn the photo frame off during slide-show and back on, the slide-show restarts from the last image viewed. Unfortunately there is no setting for the slide-show to automatically restart after next power on.

Song replays from beginning after waking from sleep

I've tried searching for a solution with no luck. Heres what happens.
1. I'm playing music.
2. Midway into the song, I get a call.
3. I answer phone
4. as soon as I answer, I lock the phone with the sleep button so I safely put it back into my pocket without inadvertently pressing a button.
5. When the call ends, the phone automatically goes back to lock or sleep mode so I press the sleep button to wake it.
6. I don't slide to unlock the phone since you can just press play with the remote. When I press play with the remote, it plays the song from the beginning.
I don't answer with my remote because I want to see who it is first.
Anyone else have the same problem?

I had this problem too and solved it by doing a clean install. After that it was gone.
This is a drastic method since it takes quite some time to reinstall lion and all your software.
Thoughts I had why it started working after a clean install are the following:
It looked like the airport wasn't able to reconnect fast enough before the connection timed out. So what could have prevented my mac from being able to connect fast enough?
Apps that consume processor cycles. I love what I would call 'System Enhancers', little apps that enhance my workflow (Moom, Alfred, Dropbox, Default Folder etc). I'm not saying that these are the problem, they might be programmed processor friendly, but check if you have apps that consume processor cylcles. It might prevent airport from being able to reconnect quickly enough before it times out.
Mobile Config profiles. Another thought I had was that I had a mobile config 802.1X profile installed for the company were I worked. It used TTLS to connect to the corporate network. This profile might have gotten in the way.
And a sidenote...
Routers with hardware acceleration might also be a problem. My router is a Wireless Gigabit Router 300N WL-351 and has hardware acceleration. As soon as I activate that my wifi connection keeps dropping. It is as if a Macbook Air can't handle that amount of optimisation.

How do I A) Edit failed messages and B) Stop Mail from trying after failing

I'm trying to send an email but it keeps coming back and saying the address isn't valid. It's a very long email and don't want to re-type the whole thing, but would prefer instead to send it to myself so I can edit it on my computer. When I go to outbox, I see it there but I can't figure out a way to edit it. In addition, it seems that the outbox is constantly trying to send even after i fails in turn preventing any new messages from coming in. In other words, the only way I can get new messages is to delete this message from my outbox. I don't want to do this until I have sent it to myself. So A) how do I edit this message once it's in my outbox and B) is there a way to stop Mail from trying to send over and over even after it says that it has failed?

I had this problem a week or so ago......
I'll speak generally from memory. Sorry, I can't be as specific as possible, but this method did work for me on three bad messages I had over a couple of days.
I got the message into edit mode, possibly by selecting a send it to me option, possibly not.
The correction was to click on the outgoing address in the header and then the iPhone presented me with my outgoing email address options. Changing the out-going address fixed the message.
I may have been left with the original message, but the complete copy with the corrected address went through, and then I deleted the incorrect version once I was certain it went out okay.
Afterwards, I make certain I'm selecting an out-going address that the iPhone will work with. My home Roadrunner address is what fails on the iPhone, when I make certain to use my Google address, all works fine. And if a message fails on me, I check that out-going address to see if that was the problem and needs to be changed.

Audio track resumes from beginning after pause?

My iPod Classic is giving me problems dealing with long audio tracks (such as 1 hour long podcasts like TWIT.) when I pause well into a track and then click again to resume, I often find that the track resumes from the beginning, not where it was paused. Is this a known or fixable problem? Help!

It may have something to do with how the track is saved in iTunes. In iTunes, right click on the track and select "Get Info". From there, you will find a tab called "Options", select it.
Once there, you will see a bunch of different and useful things. In your specific case, check "Remember playback position". That should solve your issue. But also look at the rest of these options. You can better identify your media by selecting a more proper "Media Kind" etc.

Restoring from TM after failed 10.5.7 update

The 10.5.7 update completely FUBARed my laptop; it is now in a boot loop worthy of a lousy Vista machine. I have full Time Machine back-ups. I need to restore back to 10.5.6 using TM. My problem is that all the instructions tell me to start from the OS disc, choose "Utilities" from the welcome screen after the language choice, and then see the choice "restore from backup" from that menu. I do not have "restore from backup" as a choice. I have "startup disk, reset password, disk utility, terminal, system profiler, and network utility". I can see the external TM drive from "disk utility", but need alternate instructions as to how to correctly start this process given my menu choices.

Want to open another project from Quiz Results - can't get it to work.

I have been trying to get my course to open another project (an instruction slide) after the user completes a quiz and it is not working. The course always closes after the quiz results. I have set the Project End Options and the Pass or Fail options to all open another project (the instruction slide), but instead, after the user clicks 'Continue' on the quiz results page, the course always closes. What could I be missing? (Am using Captivate 5.)

Just finally getting my head above water and am able to respond and update. Yes, I was using a tool called RELOAD to update the imsmanifest file. Actually a great tool that I can recommend now that I worked out the kinks with Captivate. Here's a quick summary of how I ended up resolving this - I can't even remember all the different options I tried until I settled on this! I never resolved the issue with launching another project from the quiz results page, but found a workaround that works even better.
The course starts with a brief introduction module. The 'Continue' button on the last slide is set to launch another project, which opens the course's 'main menu.'
The 'main menu' project has several buttons that launch appropriate sub-topic projects.
On the last slide of each of the 'sub-topic' projects has the 'Continue' button set to launch the 'main menu' again. Each of these had quiz questions, but feedback was set at the question level only - no quiz results page.
The last option on the 'main menu' project was a 'Course Completion' button - which launches a project containing the final quiz. (NOTE: This was always the only project that had the "Show score at the end of the quiz" set to display under Preferences / Quiz / Settings. After a lot of hair-pulling, I realized that it wasn't necessary to open another project to accomplish what I wanted to do, which was return the user to some basic instructions before they retook the quiz.)Here is how the last project was set up.
The first slide is a content slide with instructions for the quiz. When the user clicks the "Back" button from this slide, it will launch the 'main menu' project. 'Next' simply goes to the next slide.
Slides 2-5 are quiz questions
Slide 6 is the quiz results slide (turned on under Preferences / Quiz / Settings). Buttons are: Review Quiz and Continue.
Slide 7 is a content slide with instructions on what to do next. This slide has a text button that I called "Retry" and under Properties / Reporting for the button the "Include in quiz" is NOT checked. The Retry button takes the user back to the first slide in the quiz.

The printer printed fine until about 2 weeks ago when this error message appeared. Printing continues from Pages, I-photo, preview etc. — only Photoshop fails.
The printer has been turned on and off, as have open documents been closed and open etc.. Preferences reset. Repeatedly I have read through blogs and forums and attempted to contact Adobe — all without results
Epson support struggled to find reason and several solutions were tried and they assume this is an Adobe problem.
Running Mac Powerbook X 10.10.2 / Photoshop CS6 13.0.6.x64
Attempting unsuccessfully to print to Epson 3880

How to restart a message from beginning

Hi,
in our test-xi we have 10.000 failed message because of a mapping error. The problem is, that the receiver determination was wrong so the wrong interface mapping was startet.
If I restart the failed messages, only the step "message mapping" is running (because this step failed) - But I need to restart the message from beginning because the step "receiver determination" should run again.
We need the thousands of messages for testing.
How can I restart the message from beginning of the pipline?
Is there a (dirty) possibility?

Hi!
You can do in the below mentioned ways.
1. You can copy the pay load and test the message in the RWB>Component Monitoring>Test MEssage and Paste your payload and resend.
2. Go to the SMQ1 and SMq2 and resend all those quesues one by one and not all at a time.
3. Go to SXMB_MONI select ur messages and and try to send again.
*4. The most important thing is you can also manage such messages in the detailed manner either in Async mode or Syn mode and also you can cancel or Resend all those message in the below linnk which shows MESSAGE DISPLAY TOOL.

Note:: Kindly make a note that do not send all the bulk of messages at time so that it may strucks in the queues and also if any respective message is strucked intially before sending first clear that message and then go for a new trial ok

HT202276 import iMovie Project from iphone iOS8 into iMovie 11 with os 10.8.5 MBP failed

My import of iMovie Project from iphone to rMBP iMovie 11 failed.
I began an iMovie Project on my iPhone 6+ ios 8.1.2. I imported it through iTunes into my rMBP 10.8.5 Mountain Lion, but cannot import it into iMovie '11 v9.0.9, get error message.
Must I have Yosemite?
I am not ready to upgrade to Mavericks or Yosemite until February because of Parallels older software.
I do have Final Cut Express.v 4.0.1, could i do it there?
A possible workaround:
I do have access at home to my partner's MBP 13" with iMovie and Yosemite. But if I put the iOS iMovie Project file on her computer, and edit in in her iMovie, will I be able to transfer all the files and links of the movie back to my rMPB 15"

I've been having a similar issue but for me I have tried several things:
1. Import directly from Iphone 6. - Left it over night and it imports some but not all
2. Import from usb drive - I copied the photos off my phone to a usb drive. This imported into Photos and I was left with approx 12 that had the incorrect date. They said data taken was the date of import. I can lvie with this.
3. After no.2 worked I then connected my Iphone to import any new pics and it said that I had approx 11,000 photos to import....these are the same photos that had already been imported!!!
Can I reinstall Iphoto on my Macbook Pro (Early 2011)....??? Please?

Unable to change window properties after upgrading project from X5 to RH8

Hi,
I just upgraded an existing project from X5 to RH8. In Windows Properties (HTML Help), if I make any changes and click OK, I receive the following message:
"For Width field please enter a value between 65 and 24."
If I do enter a value within those parameters in any of the "Width" options on the Properties page, I'm still presented with the same error message.
How can this be corrected?

Perhaps try creating a totally new window definition and configuring the parameters as desired.
Once in a blue moon we see that the window definition somehow becomes corrupt.

Robo HTML 9 will not open our project from Source Control after initial start.

We have a project in version control that we have been using forever, since 2003 or so and many versions of RH. Now that we have upgraded to 9, this project will open the first time in version control and work normally. Once you close the project and attempt to reopen from the starter screen, it opens just great, just not in version control. The files are still set to read only. I have done this several times and the only way i can work on my project in version control is to act like i am opening a project from scratch, then it needs to overwrite all of my local files with the server files. It would not be so bad but I am 3000 miles away from the server and 13 hops plus a slow firewall on the other end. While this has never been a problem in the past it is a big problem because it takes hours for all the files to download and overwrite my local files.
This only happens with RH9 and Version Control 3.1. RH8 works no problem. So, I don't know if this is a RH9 starter problem or a Source Control Problem. Maybe I will make a similar thread in the RH area. I'll wait to see if I get any useful hits from this one first.
It is very strange, I had RH9 open for several days because I was afraid to close the project for this reason and yesterday I published for the month so the heat is less right now but today, it opened with no source control. If I go to Source Control the only thing i can select is put project in source control. That is how it got into source control after converting to RH9.
We have another project that seems to open from version control normally but we can only save topics in HTML view. No useful answers to that topic after a week.
Got any ideas???

Ok, here is a wierd one, I used the add to version control icon in the menu bar, It already knew the path so I figured I'm the only one who has been editing these files for the past few days so I clicked add to version control. It added it. I closed and reopeded and still had the same files checked out. Closed, checked in all, then reopened and it is working in SourceControl. Strange that after opening from source control and closing that you need to reopen and tell it to put the project into source control. Obviously some flag is not getting set somewhere. This might help others having problems reopening source control files.

Quiz failure, how to stop the project from continuing

If the user fails the quiz I don't want them to be able to proceed b/c for the ones that passed I have created a certificate. I have my quiz settings under the Pass or Fail "If passing grade" - Go to the next slide. "If failing grade: - Send email to... on the drop down the Continue playing project is not checked. But when I tested it out, it does continue playing the project when the user fails. Should I set the Action upon failure to No Action? Other solutions?

One thing you can do is set it such that if the user fails the quiz, then it jumps to a slide you have created. The slide can simply say "Thank you" or "Sorry, you did not pass" and include any further instructions the learner might need. Say whatever you want. Either way, you then set your Project end options to Close the Program. So it looks like this:
For instance:
Slide 26: last question slide in the quiz          Properties: On slide exit: Go to next slide
Slide 27: Results of the quiz slide                 Properties: On slide exit: Go to next slide
Slide 28: "Congratulation you passed!"          Properties: On slide exit: Jump to slide 30
Slide 29: "Sorry, you did not pass."               Properties: On slide exit: Jump to slide 30
Slide 30: Thank you.                                   Properties: On slide exit: No action
In Publish/Preferences/Quiz/Pass or Fail, set the following:
If passing grade: Jump to slide 28
If failing grade:    Jump to slide 29
In Publish/Preferences/Project/Start and End, set the following:
Project end options:   Action: Close Project
That should do it if I understood your problem correctly. It has worked for me.
WARNING: In Publish/Preferences/Quiz/Settings if you have set Required to Pass Required - the user must pass this quiz to continue, then this solution will not work. Set it to Required - the user must take this quiz to continue, then it should work fine.
